Chapter 4

So, here I am. Grounded, 200 miles away from home. 200 miles away from my phone. 200 miles away from my 'boyfriend'. And, I'm at another guy's place. Aang had gone to go get his friends to introduce me to them.

I sit on the couch and look around. The inside was completely different than any other house I had ever seen. There were marble pillars, and statues of monks with the same tattoos Aang had. There was some incense burning and the house smelled like my grandmother's room. Aang came back with two people. A boy my age with a birthmark that took up half of his face and a girl who looked around Aang's age who looked like she didn't give two fucks about anything. The boy was the first one to speak to me.

"Hello, Zuko here" I looked at him and laughed. Who says that when they meet someone for the first time.

"Hi, I'm Katara. It's nice to meet you Zuko, I really didn't know you were here" He clears his throat while blushing in reply. I turn to the girl and decide to introduce myself first.

"Hello, I'm Katara. It's nice to see another girl in this lame ass town." The girl smiles and laughs but doesn't look at me directly. I wonder why that is.

"I'm Toph, the world's greatest earthbender and don't you ever forget it girlie." I smile back at her, but she's a little too much for my taste. Anyone's better than having nobody anyways.

"Katara is staying here for the summer, she's from Philadelphia. She's also a waterbender!" Aang spoke up for me, before I could even open my mouth. Zuko looked at Aang but the look disappeared quickly. "Katara, you and Toph stay here while me and Zuko go do something really quick" Aang dragged Zuko away excitedly as Toph made her way to the couch.

Toph tripped on something, and I caught her just in time. I look to see what she tripped over and it was a bead that anyone with eyes would have been able to notice. "Toph how could you not see that?" I laugh but she stays silent and pushes me away from her.

"The fuck's your problem?" I had just tried to help this bitch and she pushes me away? Yeah no, this is not going to work out.

"I'm blind dipshit. But that doesn't mean I need your help. And honestly, I think you're the one with the problem around here." What? Blind? There's no way she could be an earthbender AND be blind. And what does she mean IM the one with the problem? The fuck?

"What do you mean I'm the one with the problem. You're very rude you know" Toph scoffs and laughs. Seeing her this way makes my blood boil.

"I may be blind, but I can tell that this isn't who you are, no matter how tough you try to act" My eyes widen and I can feel my heart drop to my ass. She doesn't understand. I have to act this way so Jet won't leave. Right when I was about to reply, Aang and Zuko came back. Aang walks up to me, his hand shyly scratching the back of his head.

"Hey, um, Katara, want me to show you around the house?" I nod and smile. Anything to get away from this blind girl who seems to know everything about me. I get up, and start following Aang around the house. Most of the house looked the same as how Gyatso had it when I was younger. The house looked more like a mini shrine than an actual house. I followed Aang upstairs to what I believe was his room. This reminded me of home for some strange reason. The dirty clothes on the floor, the macbook on his bed, and the cell phone from the night before.

Looking at that cell phone made me instantly snap back into reality. I'm 200 miles away from my phone, family and friends. And Jet. This sucks. I swallow up my pride and turn to Aang. And for some reason, Suki's number was in my mind.

"Hey Aang, you think I could borrow your phone for a second so I can call my best friend? I haven't been able to use my phone for a few days" Aang looks at me and smiles.

"Sure, knock yourself out" I turn back and hug him.

"Thanks Aang" He smiles again and turns around.

"I'll let you have your privacy while you talk. I'll be in the hallway if you need me" He closes the door and I instantly dial Suki's number. The phone rings a few times and Suki picks up, saying hello in a higher pitch than usual.

"Hey Suki, it's me"

"Katara? Where are you? Did you lose your phone?" I smile hearing her voice after so long. Her voice reminds me of home. I laugh happily in reply.

"You're never gonna believe this shit girl. My dad took my fucking phone and I'm at my grandparent's house for the whole damn summer"

The line is silent for a few moments. She's probably shocked, which I don't blame her. My dad is so petty. "Dude" she says. "I thought you were just triggered about Jet and decided you hated the world"

"No, I'm grounded. And what about Jet?" I start to bite my nails, a nervous habit of mine.

There is immense guilt that could be heard when she said "You don't know?"

"I don't know what?" I shout, Aang probably can hear me.

"You remember that girl, Smellerbee?" she says slowly.

"Of course I fucking remember her. What about her?" Please don't let it be true.

"She updated her Facebook status to 'in a relationship'" I gulp, I hope this isn't true.

"With who Suki?" Please. Please no.

"With Jet" my heart drops. Fuck, I am so glad I'm 200 miles away from home so i don't look like a clown to everyone there. I mumble some sort of goodbye to Suki and hang up. It took all my willpower to not throw Aang's poor phone and put it through that torture again. I place his phone down, and open the door. Aang is right in front of me. He probably heard everything.

"Are you okay Katara?" I shrug, trying not to look in his face so I don't cry.

"My grandparents are probably wondering where I am right now Aang. I'll see you tomorrow" I walk downstairs with my back hunched and say goodbye to Zuko and Toph as I tread back to my grandparents's house.

Gran Gran noticed how long I took in the bathroom the next day. There was only one bathroom, and I was keeping it occupied as I did my hair.

"Why are you wasting so much time on your hair, child?" Gran Gran was flipping through her favorite knitting catalog, probably trying to figure out what she wants to make. I shrug and sit next to her. I don't have to lie to Gran Gran like I do to my dad, she's more understanding towards me. I play with my hair as I think about the Jet issue. I wish I had my phone or computer.

"Katara dear, I made brownies and they're on top of the table. I made two batches because I know you loved them so much"

"Gran Gran, you know I can't eat that much" I looked at her, Gran Gran's wrinkles grew since the last time I saw her. I walk into the kitchen and start eating one.

"Pakku and I can't have a lot of sugar. Make sure you eat them before they go bad"

I look back at the stack of brownies. How can she think I would eat these many brownies? I sigh but then get an idea.

"Gran Gran, can I share the brownies with my friends next door?"

She doesn't look at me as she flips the page. "Sure honey"

I put away some brownies in a container for them and save some for me. I quickly look in the mirror and double check my outfit. I look amazing. I head over to the same house from yesterday and knock on the door. My least favorite one of the trio opens the door.

"Oh hi water girl" I groan internally

"Hi Toph, I brought brownies to share with everyone. Can I come in?" She shrugs and moves aside as I walk in.

"Guess I'll have to call you Sweetness then." I cringe internally. Nobody has ever given me such trashy nicknames.

I head into the kitchen and place the container down, Toph feels around and takes a brownie. Aang and Zuko come in, sweaty and I gag.

"Have you guys even taken a shower all day? Why are you guys so sweaty?" They look at eachother then at me and laugh.

"You don't have time to shower when you train all day MOM" Zuko emphasises as he reaches a hand out for a brownie that I smack away.

"Go take a shower before you eat. Now." I look sternly at both of them as they groan and slowly head up the steps. I'm left alone with the blind girl again.

"So Madame Fussybritches, what else brings you here besides these delicious brownies." I furrow my eyebrows at that nickname and sigh.

"I had nothing better to do anyways" I look at Toph, who stuffs 3 brownies into her mouth.

"Toph, save some for others and eat one at a time, you'll choke like that" Toph pulls the brownies out of her mouth and eats them one by one.

"Wanna watch a movie Katara?" I ponder for a second but figure I might as well, since our friends were in the shower.

I wake up who knows how many hours later. I look at the time on the TV and it's 8 pm. I get up and groan. I forgot that I had fallen asleep while Toph and I watched that movie. I go to the bathroom to rinse my mouth out and when I open the door I see Aang there.

"H-Hey Katara. Toph and Zuko fell asleep, wanna sit in my room and talk until they get up?" I smile and nod. Aang wouldn't try anything. He looks way too innocent anyways. I follow him to his room and close the door. He pats his bed and I sit next to him.

"What's up Aang?" He avoids looking me in my eyes, and glances around until his eyes finally make their way up to my face.

"Katara, have you ever dated anyone before" Oh, advice. He seems too innocent to date people anyways.

"Yeah, why?" Aang sighs and drops his gaze.

"I had a girlfriend before I came up here. She cheated on me and wants to get back with me but I don't know if I should" I ponder, wondering what I should say next so as to not hurt his feelings.

"No, I don't think she respects you. I've only known you for afew days and you seem like a nice and sweet kid. She doesn't deserve your time of day. Especially if she cheated knowing your dad had died." He looks at me and then turns away for a moment.

"Thanks Katara, girlfriends are overrated anyways" He flashes a grin at me and my heart skips a beat. How adorable. We sit there in silence for a bit and he weeps into my shoulder. Which is odd to me, nobody had ever done that before. I put my arm around his shoulder and lean my head on his.

"It's okay Aang" I whisper, to which he replies with a sniffle.

I AM SO SORRY GUYS. I know I said I would update this everyday but I had a lot to do between work and school. Also I might discontinue my other story. Idk, what do you guys think? I will be continuing this story as much as I can, I'll even try to fit in another chapter later today.
