"You two enjoying your dinner?" Jean asked as Van and Holly had some dinner.

"It's good." Holly said.

"Where's Dad? Isn't he going to eat too?" Van asked.

"No. He has different dinner plans." Jean said. "Daddy's going to meet up with an old friend and have dinner with her." Van didn't really like the sound of that because he had an idea as to who that friend might be.

"Is he meeting with that Monica lady?" Van said.

"Yeah." Jean said without noticing that this bothered Van. After hearing how close Paul was with Monica, he was starting to get some ideas about the two that he didn't like.

"I like her. She seems like a really nice person." Holly said clearly not thinking the same way that Van was.

"That's nice. She's actually been a big help to your father in the past." Jean said. "Her reporter skills were actually a big help to Daddy when he had some bad guys and villains he needed to beat." All this talk was just having Van worry even more. That was when Paul came in and he looked a little dressed up with a dress shirt and pants.

"Okay. I'm going to meet with Monica." Paul said.

"You're going dressed like that?" Van questioned.

"Yeah. Why? Something wrong with it?" Paul asked.

"No. You look very handsome." Jean said.

"Where are you two going?" Van asked.

"Just a small fancy restaurant. Might be a little fancy, but it's also casual. I'm going to meet her there." Paul said. Now Van really didn't like this. A fancy restaurant, looking nice, and given their past, Van was thinking this was secretly a date. "I'll be back later tonight. You sure you can handle things without me, Jean?"

"I'll be fine." Jean said as she gave him a kiss. "Go and enjoy your dinner. I'll see you later tonight." She let him go and Paul left for his dinner and it left Van thinking about things he shouldn't.

"Mom, is it okay if I go visit a friend in the building?" Van said.

"I don't know, Van." Jean said. "It's starting to get late. What friend are you going to go see anyway?"

"Zane, a few floors up." Van said. That was an actual person so it would be more convincing so Jean would let him go.

"Okay, but don't stay too long. I want you back here before your bedtime." Jean said. Van acted like he agreed to that and got going. He went out the door and started what he was really planning.

"Mommy, you know he's planning something. Right?" Holly said.

"Yeah, I know." Jean said. "I'm just letting him go because he knows what I might do to him if it turns out to be something bad." Jean might have let Van go and trust her son, but she knows how to handle her children if they do cross her.

...

Van

Van has been waiting for a chance to use his spider powers and that chance has finally come. Van used his powers to crawl around the building and spot his father as he came out of the building.

"Let's see you stop me from using my spider powers now." Van said. He shot a web to the next building and swung over. He had to be careful to not let Paul see him. Of course, it was a difficult since Van hasn't had much experience with the swinging like Paul has. He almost crashed into a couple buildings. Van hit a ventilation shaft by accident and it nearly alerted his father.

"Huh?" Paul turned to him, but Van quickly hid himself. "Must have been a bird." He turned around and kept walking. Since Van isn't a threat to Paul, Paul's spider sense wasn't alerting him of anything. Since it wasn't going off, he just kept walking and Van kept following him.

...

The Restaurant

Paul made his way to the restaurant and never suspected a thing that Van was really following him. Of course, Paul went in through the front door. Van knew that if he went in through there, he would be spotted for sure and would be caught.

"I guess I'm going to have to find another way in." Van said as he moved around the restaurant. He spotted a ventilation shaft that he can use. "Perfect." Van webbed the frame and he tried to pull it off. Even though he was ten, he was able to get it off thanks to some spider strength. "Down we go." Van jumped in through there and tried to find his father before anything he thinks can happen will happen. Paul went inside and he spotted Monica waiting for him.

"Monica!" Paul called and got her attention.

"Hey." Monica said as she got up and hugged him.

"I hope I didn't keep you waiting long." Paul said as they both had a seat.

"No. It's fine." Monica said. Van was able to make his way through the vents and found one for him to look through and spotted them. He quietly moved out and tried to get in a place to hear them. "This is a little weird. We're eating in a place like this, almost like how we dated, and now you're married with kids."

"Monica, it's fine." Paul said. "We've been apart for years. We've both both moved on with our lives."

"Maybe, but meeting with an ex you've been dating for years like we have can be hard to get over." Monica said. "I mean, we both really had something."

"I know, but that was in the past." Paul said.

"You're right. You're married now and with kids." Monica said as she thought she was being silly. "So what's it like being all that? Married and having kids?"

"It's actually great." Paul said. "Van and Holly are great kids. Van even has his own spider powers."

"Really?! Does that mean we'll have another spider swinging through the city one day?" Monica said.

"Maybe, but I think it's a little early for Van to be getting involved in that." Paul said.

"Still, I'm glad we're doing this." Monica said. "We might not be dating anymore, but we're still great friends. It's just a little hard to believe you're actually married."

"Is that because a part of you wishes it was you that married me?" Paul said and it seems like he asked a good question.

"Maybe. You're not an easy guy to get over, Paul." Monica said. "Still, I've been dating a few other guys and I've been doing my best to move on. It just hasn't been easy."

"I get it." Paul said. "Truth be told, I guess I did had some lingering feelings for you for a while." Van heard him say that, he got really freaked now.

"Aw! There's a child on the ceiling!" Someone screamed.

"Busted." Van said. Everyone looked up to the ceiling and included Paul and Monica. Both of them were pretty shocked to see him.

"Van?!" Paul said.

"Hi, Dad." Van said.

"What are you doing?" Paul said. "I swear I'm going to..." He didn't get to finish that sentence as the wall busted open. That had to be the worst time. Someone stepped in and saw it was Fang.

"Spider-Man! You're about to be a dead man!" Fang called.

"That's just random." Paul said. Dealing with his spying son was bad enough, but now he's got a wild cat with superiority issues to deal with.
