Paul was planning to have a simple dinner with his ex-girlfriend. Simple went out the window when he saw his son spying on them and Fang came busting in.

"Spider-Man!" Fang called.

"What's Fang doing here?" Monica questioned.

"I'm guessing he's not to try the steak." Paul said as he undid his shirt and showed his costume underneath it.

"You brought your costume?" Monica questioned.

"You're surprise that I did bring it?" Paul said as he changed clothes and got his costume and his mask on. "Van, stay out of sight and out of the way!"

"That's what I was trying to do." Van said. Paul jumped ahead and went right at Fang. Fang tried slashing at him, but Paul ducked down and tackled Fang with them ending up outside. Fang got a hold of Paul and tossed him right off and he smashed against a wall.

"What are you doing here in the first place?" Paul questioned.

"You were seen coming here." Fang said. "I'm only here for one reason and that's to get rid of you!"

"So this is just an everyday casual thing." Paul said. Fang wasn't messing around as he lifted a car from the streets. He tossed it at Paul, but Paul jumped out of the way. The car smashed against the building and did some damage as car pieces flew around. Van was using his powers to try and stay on the ceiling.

"Van!" Monica called. "Get down from there and take cover before you get hurt!"

"You don't need to worry about me." Van said. Van did notice some cracks forming on the ceiling and some of it was going to fall on some innocent people. "Heads up!" Van shot some webs over innocent people and used it as a net to catch some of the debris that would have hurt people.

"Okay. Not bad for a little kid." Monica said. Paul was doing his best to fight off Fang. Paul swung at him and slammed his feet against him. Fang was pushed back, but he wasn't going to give up that easily. Fang grabbed another car and was getting ready to throw it.

"I really hope those people have insurance." Paul said. Fang tossed the car at him. Paul ducked down, but he saw the car was going to smash into the restaurant and innocent people were going to get hurt from it. "No!" Paul tried shooting a couple webs to stop the car, but Fang pounced on him and stopped him. The car smashed through the building. People were trying to move out of the way, but it was heading straight for Monica and it was coming fast.

"Oh man!" Monica said as she didn't think she was going to make it out of the way in time, but a surprising hero saved her. Van swung in and tackled Monica out of the way just before it hit the wall and exploded and they tried to shield themselves from it.

"You okay?" Van asked.

"Yeah..." Monica said as she was impressed that Van actually saved her. "I guess you really are Paul's son."

"Just wait." Van said as he had something else planned and went into the fight.

"Van! Get back here! It's too dangerous!" Monica said, but Van hasn't been really doing what his parents said. Paul got caught up by Fang and got thrashed around a little as he was tossed against a light post and his stomach took the worst of it.

"Good thing I haven't eaten yet." Paul groaned from all the pain.

"I'm not done with you yet." Fang said as he was going to attack him again. Fang took a step forward, but he suddenly tripped and fell on the ground. He looked down at his legs and saw they got webbed.

"Bad kitty!" Fang looked back and saw the web was being connected to Van from his own webbing.

"Big mistake, kid. You don't want to tick me off." Fang said as he ripped the web from his legs. Paul looked back and saw Van was actually facing off against Fang.

"Van, no! Run and hide while you can!" Paul said.

"Wait. That kid is your son, isn't he?" Fang said. "Better take a good look because this going to be the last time you see your son!" Fang charged at Van and didn't care he was a child. He was going with the intention of tearing Van apart. Fang was about to attack him with his claw, but Van jumped and avoided his attack. Van webbed a piece of debris and smashed it against Fang's head. "You little brat!"

"Can't get what you can't see." Van said as he shot some webs on Fang's face and blinded him.

"He really is that spider's brat." Fang complained as he tried to get the webbing off. He tore it right off, but when he did, Paul pulled himself back together and smashed his fist against Fang's face.

"Don't ever threaten my kid!" Paul said as he beat Fang around. Fang growled and was going to attack, but Van acted fast and stomped on Fang's tail. That caused him some pain and gave Paul an opening. Paul kept beating Fang around and gave him one good hit right in the face. Fang couldn't hold himself together and collapsed. People cheered over another victory Spider-Man has.

"Yeah, Dad!" Van cheered. "You really know how to kick butt!" Van loved seeing his father in action, but he forgot that he's in real trouble. Paul reminded him as he grabbed Van by the ear and brought his face in close.

"You better have a good explanation as to why you're here. I'm sure your mother would want to hear it as well." Paul said. Great hero, but still a responsible father.

The Porters

Paul changed back into his clothes and took Van home. They both got in there and Jean was there and was not happy.

"Van, where were you? I went up to the apartment you said you were going to be in and they claimed you weren't there." Jean said.

"No. He followed me to the restaurant and was spying on me and Monica." Paul said. "The same restaurant that Fang attacked because he wanted a piece of me. He even tried to join in the fight."

"What?!" Jean said as she couldn't believe Van would do that.

"I said I was sorry, but Miss Whitney is still alive because of me." Van said.

"That's not going to get you out of much trouble." Paul said.

"Van, go to your room. I'll be there in a moment to talk to you about this." Jean said. Van knew better than to argue with them now. So he did what she said and waited for his punishment. "Paul, I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have let him left the apartment in the first place. I didn't think he would do this."

"It's tine. It's not your fault. He did explain himself on the way back." Paul said. "He followed me because he was afraid of what was going to happen. I think he got the wrong idea when he heard about Monica."

"Huh? What do you mean?" Jean asked.

"After you talked to him about how close Monica and I use to be, he was getting the wrong idea like I was going to leave you to be with her." Paul said. When Jean heard that, she felt so bad.

"I'm sorry. I'll go talk to him." Jean said as she went to talk to Van. Inside Van's room, the two of them talked it over and Jean has been trying to clear things up with Van. "I'm sorry, sweetie. I didn't mean to scare you when I told you about Monica."

"I know. It's just...when I saw how they acted and heard how close they were, I just couldn't help it." Van said. "They were really in love?"

"Well, yes." Jean said. "That happens in life. You'll see when you get older. Yes, your father was in love with Miss Whitney, but that was practically another life. I'll admit I did thought about breaking up with him, but something happened that made the love we have for each other much stronger and it led to where we are now."

"What?" Van said.

"You." Jean said as she combed her hand through his hair. "When we both found out that I was having you, it made us closer. That's not going to change because you remind us." That had Van feel a lot better and had him see how silly he was being. "You're still grounded, but we'll deal with that later. It's getting late." She kissed his head and helped him to bed. "Night, honey."

"Night, Mom." Van said as he went to sleep and Jean left his room. Jean went into her room with Paul changing out of his clothes.

"Van okay now?" Paul asked.

"Yeah. He just let his imagination get the better of him." Jean said. Paul was glad to hear that. He got behind Jean and held her close to him.

"Good because there's no way I leave you." Paul said as he kissed her head.

"You really are happy with your life, aren't you?" Jean said.

"Yeah. I'm right where I want to be. I didn't expect it to be like this, but I'm glad it is." Paul said. jean was glad to hear that as she turned in his arms and kissed him with her pulling him down to their bed. In this world, Paul really does love his life and he wouldn't have traded it away for anything. At least in this world.
