Again I don't own Atla or any of the characters. I hope you guys like it.

3 weeks since the events at the Crystal Catacombs. The gaang has captured and is currently staying in a Fire Nation ship. Katara remains unconscious.

Aang uses a wet towel to put on Katara's forehead. It's been three weeks of seeing her like this, it was torture. Having to see the person you love most in this world in such a critical state can make you go insane. And it was. Aang had hardly slept a blink in these past days. His friends tried to get him to leave her side and try to rest. However, every time he tried he either couldn't stop thinking of Katara or he couldn't stop having nightmares. Nightmares of watching her die, of failing her, of failing the world.

All he taught about day and night was Katara. He woke up, he gave her healing sessions. He spent the day by her side. He slept on the ground next to her. It got so bad he even forgot to shave his head and had begun to grow hair.

But none of that mattered to him. All he cared about was being there when she woke up.

Looking at her all he wanted was for her to wake up. He wanted more than anything to be able to talk to her and actually get a response. Tell her jokes and hear the laugh that made his knees weak. He wanted to tell her how much she meant to him and how hard these weeks had been on him. But at last, she wouldn't wake. So instead he talked to her unconscious body, in hopes that maybe just maybe she could somehow hear his voice.

...

4 weeks since the events at the Crystal Catacombs.

"Aang, I brought you some food," announced Sokka. Aang heard him but was more focused on staying near Katara. "Thanks, but I'm not hungry." Sokka sighed and was about to walk out again like every time he came to deliver his food.

But something stopped him, he didn't know if it was that he knew that Katara would want him to look after Aang when she couldn't, or if it was seeing his best friend like this made him feel like it wasn't just his sister who had gotten hurt that day.

"You know what, no!" Aang turned around in surprise to hear more than six words from Sokka. "Aang, I know you're hurting, we're all hurting! But if she was awake right now she would be shoving this food down your throat. You need to eat, you need to attend our meetings to discuss the plans for the invasion, for gods sakes you need to shave!" Sokka lead out those words hoping to smack some sense into him for once. Aang stared at him and looked back at her then stared at the ground. He pouted and didn't know what to say to Sokka. He was right and Aang knew that. Katara would be furious if she saw him like this.

"You're right, Sokka. This isn't how she would want me to act. But I don't feel like I can do anything else! I try to, but then I just get scared that somehow something's going to happen to her if I leave her side. I already let her down once and I won't let that happen again! I need to be able to protect her this time!" Aang exclaimed. Sokka stared at him and realized what was going on here. "You love her don't you?" Aang's eyes widened and looked back at Sokka. "Of course I love her, she's my best friend," he hoped that he wouldn't see past that or else his secret would be uncovered.

"Nope, it's more than that. You love her." Aang stared at him with his mouth open and then gave a small nod confirming his words. "I always knew you had a thing for her, but I didn't know it was that deep," Sokka confessed.

"Wait! You knew?" Aang replied in surprise. "Oh please! The only person that doesn't know that you love Katara is Katara!" He joked. Aang smiled and then looked back at Katara. "What if, what if she doesn't wake up?" he said with a small crack in his voice. "Aang, don't even say that! Of course she'll wake up! She has to." They both stared at her with worried looks on their faces.

Aang then grabbed the food from Sokka's hands and began to eat. Sokka smiled and then left the room.

Aang turned to look at Katara and smiled. "I'm gonna do better, for you," he then placed a soft kiss on her forehead and left the room.

...

3 weeks later

Aang left the meeting after discussing the plans of the invasion and where they were headed to. He began to walk towards Katara's room to give her a healing session. On his way there he heard some noises and someone breathing heavily. He turned the corner to find her.
