Chapter five.
This is the fifth chapter where the story picks up a few days after Tim found out that Cathy, his girlfriend, was having a baby.
In this scene, we get to see what Alan Grant has been doing for most of his life since he had returned from his trip to Isla Sorna with the Kirby family alive and well. Disclaimer; I don't own all the characters of Jurassic World or Jurassic Park.
I just wrote this for fun so I hope you'll enjoy it.
Isla Sorna seaport, Monday at 10:45 am.
After having their breakfast together at the cafeteria buffet, Tim Murphy and Cathy Bowman had collected their bags and then checked out of their room. Arriving at the reception, Tim turned in his key and signed the bill off.
Cathy also signed off as the receptionist stated that he hoped that they had enjoyed their stay at the Jurassic world resort, which made Cathy smile before Tim had finished signing the bill off. Once they had received their receipt from the receptionist and their key-cards are turned over to the reception, Tim and Cathy then made their way from the hotel to the harbour where they were to wait for the next ferry out of Isla Nublar to the mainland.
As they waited for the ferry to arrive within the half-hour, Cathy turned around to take one last look at the resort.
She stood there looking at the resort before she spoke. "For some reason, I'm going to miss this place, although I did have some bad memories on the other Island."
"Yeah, but I had some bad memories here myself and that was different. But if it weren't for the dinosaurs, we never would have fallen in love." Tim replied.
"That's right, and I wouldn't be looking forward to marrying you," Cathy said to Tim, approaching him before she wrapped her arms around his neck with a small grin on her face.
"Well then maybe we have to go searching for dinosaurs more often," Tim said with a growing grin on his face. Cathy laughed at the comment before she spoke.
"That's funny but I hope that we wouldn't. I managed to get over the encounter with the compees when I was a child, but it still haunts me at different times and I don't want our baby to wind up being eaten by dinosaurs."
"Yeah, you're right my dead. So let's hope that the dinosaurs will stay here in Jurassic World," said Tim.
Cathy drew a smile before she and Tim went on to a different subject.
They then started to think about where they're going to move since they're going to have a baby and also what name to give to their little child if it is going to be a boy or a girl. They talked together for almost half an hour about the weather and the news that they heard on the television when the ferry back to the mainland had turned up in the distance.
At the main office.
Standing at the glass window in her office, Claire Dearing was watching as the ferry was coming into port to take the leaving visitors back to the mainland. As she watched the Ferry come close Claire hoped that the meeting with Tim Murphy went as well as she had hoped.
She continued to watch the ferry park into the bay when her assistant Zara young had entered the office through the doorway.
She approached Claire with a file in her hands.
"Miss Dearing?" Zara spoke to Claire who turned away from the window to face Zara.
"Oh Zara, good you brought the files for the five o'clock meeting this afternoon," Claire said, going back into her business guise again. Taking up the files from Zara, Claire read into the first papers that detailed the profits Jurassic world's stores and rides were making.
After a while of reading into the figures, she took the figures in whilst Zara then took her leave from the office. Taking a seat in her chair in front of her desk, Claire started her calculations and worked out in her head the solutions on how to deal with the figures. Such as either cutting back or expanding would resolve the rising problems to balance out the growing costs of running the whole theme park.
Claire Dearing spent the next hour at her workplace before she finished her conclusions.
She was about to turn her head to look out to the view when her phone rang and soon she received a call from the Control room.
Answering the call on the phone, she spoke. "Yes. What? There's another sick stegosaurus inside the paddock?"
She listened to the report on the incident before she spoke. "Okay, send the team of veterinarians immediately and bring a truck along, I'll be heading down to control to monitor the situation from there."
As soon as she gave the instructions, Claire Dearing hung up and replaced the files on her desk before she started to leave the office to head over to control.
Passing by the doors and a few co-workers who were heading to their respective offices, Claire Dearing made her way to the elevator.
On approach to the elevator doors, Claire pressed the button to call for the elevator.
She waited for over a minute or two before the elevator doors opened up.
Walking through the doorway into the elevator, she pressed the number button, leading to the control room.
She stood in the centre as the elevator took her down to the control room.
Whilst she was waiting for the doors to open Claire wondered about the situation about how to resolve surveillance protocols on the sick stegosaurus and what to say on her next report form to the administration at her next meeting.
Claire continued with her work for a while longer, watching as a group of security operatives were examining the sick stegosaurus that lay on the ground. She then moved onto the next subject of the day whilst The control room's tech employees including Lowery Cruthers and Vivian were overseeing all operations whilst Claire was managing the control room.
Back at the Jurassic world Seaport.
It was only a short distance from the seaport as the Ferry was coming in, Cathy and Tim were waiting for the Ferry to get close to the docks for parking so the passengers can cross over into the amusement park docks.
As they waited for the ferry, Cathy looked around at the crowds. She saw some couples with children of their own, standing in front or beside their parents; it made her wonder what it would be like to be a mother of the child she was having with her fiance.
She continued to wonder about her life when the Ferry was closing in on the docks.
Tim turned his head to look at Cathy when he noticed that she had something on her mind.
So he asked turned to her and asked her. "Penny for your thoughts Cathy?"
"Oh I was just thinking about what our future would be like, since I've found out that I'm going to be a mom I can't help but be scared of my parents. I mean its their reactions to when they hear that they're going to be grandparents." Cathy explained to Tim as the ferry was just turning starboard for docking at the pier.
"Cathy there's nothing to be scared of, and as soon as we get married then we can tell them together. And I promise to be at your side when we do break the news to them, of course, I'm more afraid that your dad will look at me like I made a big mistake with him." Tim said.
"Aw, I wouldn't worry about my dad. I'll be there to protect you from him if he gets on your case and whatever happens, I'm sure he'll understand that you did the right thing by marrying me instead of leaving me to raise the baby alone." Cathy said, assuring him that there's nothing to worry about.
Accepting her assurance, Tim stepped up close to Cathy and he wrapped his arms around her in an embrace just as the ferry was just coming into dock at the pier. It was another two minutes into the pier before the crew on board the ferry were able to draw the gangway out onto the pier surface so they can unload the pier.
Soon after the gangway was secured, hundreds of passengers were crossing over to the docks before they went towards the shoreline of Jurassic world.
It was over eight minutes in time before the last of the passengers were unloaded from the ferry, and another hundred visitors who were leaving the island were boarding the ferry back to the mainland in Costa Rica.
Soon Cathy and Tim were in the straight line of people who were waiting to board the ferry.
They waited for almost ten minutes of standing and waiting in the lines until the two got close to the gangway, Cathy was the first to cross over along with another woman and her two kids before he too had crossed the gangway to the Ferry. Once they boarded the Ferry, Tim carried his luggage along the side of the Ferry railway whilst holding her hand in his as he led her along and took her into the doorway to the cabin.
Both Tim and Cathy spent the next few minutes looking for two seats in the ferry to sit in but the Ferry cabin was occupied by at least eighty people inside.
And then it was another minute when the Ferry's crew started drawing the gangway in to get the ferry ready for departure.
As soon as they realized that they might have to find a seat outside the cabin, the ferry departed from the pier leaving the Jurassic world theme park in the distance to cross the ocean for the mainland.
But luckily when they came out through the same entryway to the cabin, Cathy and Tim found two seats available for them. Taking no chances of losing the seats, Tim moved ahead of Cathy and dropped his bag on the seat next to him before he sat down.
As soon as she approached the seat, Tim took the bag off her seat whilst Cathy took her bag off her shoulders.
Turning around she planted herself down on the seat with relief that she can now sit down and rest after a tiring wait on the pier.
Breathing a sigh of relief, Cathy spoke. "I almost thought we were going to have to stand the whole ferry trip back to Costa Rica."
"I guess luck came to the rescue for us. So now that we're on our way to the mainland, what did you think about Jurassic World?" asked Tim.
"Well I think it was a good way to face all the bad memories, I probably wouldn't mind coming back there in a year or so. But for now, I'm happy to get far away from the Dinosaurs as possible and back into civilization with people." Cathy answered. Tim drew a small grin at the remark to get away from the dinosaurs, as he knew the feeling of getting away. But his grin then disappeared as he thought about the velociraptors and the new dinosaur that was being made in the labs.
For some reason, he was starting to get a bad feeling about Jurassic world and he hoped to himself that it was just a coincidental feeling.
In Oklahoma.
The united states of America.
It was years after their experience in Isla Sorna and their return to the mainland.
When the Kirby family had returned, Paul Kirby and Amanda had decided to reconcile since he risked his life to save her and Eric from the Spinosaurus.
They moved back in together when Amanda became pregnant again and Paul spent the year running his hardware store which became so popular as the news of his trip spread across Oklahoma.
He stayed on good terms with Amanda before she and Paul got remarried.
Whilst his parents were reconciling, Eric returned to school. He became a popular boy since he returned to school as the boy who survived living with dinosaurs for eight weeks on Isla Sorna, but he continued on with his life getting good grades.
At one point after his return, Eric was coming home from school he received some news of a Gymnastics champion named Kelly Malcolm who moved down to Oklahoma with her mother for further training in Gymnastics a few years after the San Diego Incident whilst her dad Doctor Ian Malcolm was doing tours around for his book.
Having become popular after his part in the Tyrannosaurus Incident of San Diego, his reputation was restored as his relationship with Sarah Harding remained strong and he decided to marry her after a few months. Doctor Malcolm remained close to his daughter Kelly who became a little popular student at school, even though she got into trouble with her mother for running away to Isla Sorna. Her dad Ian expressed his side and his fury about her sneaking on board the trailer.
So they agreed to have her grounded for six months period, so Kelly endured her time of getting grounded.
Over the months that followed when she was enduring her punishment, there was a little trauma that she suffered from her time in Isla Sorna.
Luckily her mother, got Kelly into therapy to help her cope with it. Kelly continued on with her life, continuing to perform her gymnastics training so she can get back into the team if the school chooses to bring her back. Although it didn't happen at any time after her six month period had passed, Kelly was eventually approached by a gymnast coach who approached her from Oklahoma.
After much discussion between the coach and her mother about the transfer to Oklahoma's gymnastics studio and where Kelly was going to stay, her mother decided that it would be best for Kelly to move to Oklahoma so she can pursue her career in Gymnastics.
