Annabeth sniffled again.
She looked out of the window and watched the tears stream down it, letting out a few of her own. The clouds mirrored her eyes, a beautiful stormy grey. As she watched the rain, she thought about what happened a couple hours ago, and let out a sob. As if sensing her sad mood, she felt a questioning kick. Annabeth rubbed her slightly swollen belly and tried for a smile. The Jacksons' were expecting a baby in April. She thought back to the day she told her husband that she was pregnant. He was the happiest man on earth that day, nevermind it was his birthday. She let out another half-laugh half-sob as she remembered how he had treated her like glass for the next week until she told him to knock it off. Truth be told, Annabeth secretly enjoyed being pampered by her husband from time to time.
Life was a dream for the soon-to-be parents as they told their family and prepared for a baby.
Every morning, the duo would sit at the kitchen, talking about work and finishing up breakfast, accompanied with heaps of laughter. Percy, the ever overprotective one, would make his wife read out pregnancy book after pregnancy book before going to bed. He always helped her clean up after her daily morning session with the toilet and was ready to satisfy her every craving, be it one in morning or two.
Annabeth knew how happy Percy was to become a father. In fact, he was the reason she was so excited for their new addition. But as much as Annabeth loved their baby, she was passionate about her work. Having dreamt about becoming an architect since childhood, she strived to become a well-known architect and was somewhat of a workaholic.
But the baby she was carrying was no ordinary mortal, and between frequent monster attacks, visiting dirty sites, along with work-pressure, Percy was extremely concerned about his wife and baby's health. Percy wanted Annabeth to take a few months off from work and stay at home. She refused and left for work. But when she encountered a monster on her way back home, the daughter of Athena ended up nicking her arm, and Percy had had enough. His patience wore thin, and with his wife's latest antic, it snapped. He shouted at her and a huge argument ensued.
Annabeth, the one whose flaw was pride, refused to cry and instead ran out of the house. She ran as fast as she could until she reached a clearing the near the woods. After braving the hot afternoon heat for a couple of hours, she made her way back home. She knew that Percy was outside searching for her, but she couldn't bring herself to care as she curled herself into a ball near the tiny windowseat.
She sniffled again as she realised that he was not the one to blame. After cooling down for a few hours, she thought like a daughter of Athena and was enveloped in guilt as the looked back to how she had behaved with her husband for the past few weeks. She knew her Seaweed Brain was only looking out for her - and their baby, yet she had stubbornly defied him.
Annabeth started crying again, tears streaming down her face as she continued to look out of the window at the pouring rain and stormy grey clouds. Tired with the days events, she soon fell asleep, still huddled by the window.
