Poor Shadow...
"You know what I'm thankful for, Shadow?" Shadow looked at her sideways, not really wanting to know, fearful of what it might be.
"I'm thankful for my Shadow-kun," Honest finished, sighing and grabbing Shadow in a hug.
He pushed her away from him. "And why is that?"
"Because," Honest said. She huffed and turned the other way. "You're my only friend."
"That's a lie," Shadow said, looking down. "What about your Sonikku?"
Honest giggled. "You always know how to make me laugh!"
"What? What's so funny?" Shadow asked, looking slightly startled.
"The way you say Sonikku," Honest said, her voice soft and condescending, but in a good way.
Shadow looked as if he were annoyed as he said, "Oh really? How do I say it, then?"
"Like Sonikku is the name of your little puppy dog that always gets in trouble." Shadow blushed and looked down at his feet.
Honest bit her lip. "So, um, what are you thankful for?"
Shadow thought a moment, looked away, and thought some more. "This is a toughy I'm guessing. A job?"
Shadow closed his eyes. "I have nothing to be thankful for."
Two very quiet seconds passed.
"W-What?" Honest squeaked.
"You heard me right." Shadow said again, "I have nothing to be thankful for."
"B-B-But, no! You have a lot to be thankful for! You're alive! And, and, and you have friends! Family even! A lot of people don't have what you have!"
"A lot of people's sisters didn't die when they themselves were saved! I didn't deserve to live, anymore than Maria deserved to die! And yet I'm here, spending Thanksgiving with other people that have no clue what I've experienced, and having a nice, merry time while a young, innocent girl rots away." Shadow stood up.
"But, Shadow! This is Thanksgiving! You can't let that drag you down now!" Honest exclaimed, hoping to stop him as he reaches for an Emerald. He didn't say anything, and teleported off to who knows where.
(Ugh, growing pains! Can't you tell how hard I was trying to find myself within the Sonic universe? Well, probably not due to you not being, well, me, but...)
I hope you like part 1 of my Thanksgiving special! Please, whatever you celebrate, always give thanks for what you have! Remember the people like Shadow out there that claim they have nothing to be thankful for, and help them to realize the many things they have that others wish they had. See you tomorrow morning/night, whenever I have time. It'll be a busy day!
(Yet another short chapter. For all the newcomers, let me just say that this not the usual for my newer stories. XD)
