Percy was an idiot.
He knew how hurt his wife had been when she ran out of the house. Now he was aimlessly running around the roads, late at night, searching for his beloved. Percy suppressed a scream of desperation as he spotted yet another mop of curly blond hair, belonging to someone else. He didn't care about the fact that he was soaked to the bone, but that the clouds looked like her eyes, and out dripped a few tears from his own.

Percy knew it was his fault that Annabeth felt so suffocated. He knew that she loved her job and that he was being too harsh on her when he asked her to take a break from her passion. Percy was terrified of what would happen, because he would never be the same if she decided to leave him forever.

The young man searched the streets of New York, filled with despair at the 'what-ifs' that came to his mind. He knew that New York City was notorious at night, and hoped his pregnant wife wasn't stuck in an old alley. As upset as he was, Percy allowed himself a small smile, as his wife was one of the strongest people he knew, and that her being pregnant didn't make her weak.

He thought back to his joy when she gifted him a newborn's shirt on his birthday and told him that he was going to be a dad. He remembered taking care of her, and waiting for their precious little one to kick. He reminised about their first doctor's appointment when they were told that they were going to have an April baby. He realised with a start that if Annabeth took off, he would have no April baby nor his Wise Girl. With renowed vigour Percy screamed his wife's name into the darkness of the night./p

A while later, a depressed Percy came home, but was ecstatic to see a figure sitting on the windowseat. Suprised to see the door unlocked, he made his way inside. Percy was filled with guilt upon seeing his wife's slouched form, with tears shining on her cheeks. He carefully carried her, mindful of their baby, and laid her on their bed, covering her shivering body with a blanket.

As he went to get changed out of his sopping wet clothes, he heard his wife murmur apologies to him in her sleep over and over again. Percy quickly made his way to bed and pulled her flush against him as he pressed reasurring kisses to her cheek in attempt to calm her down.

Comfortable with his Wise Girl, Percy sank into the depths of sleep, promising to resolve the issue the next morning.
