(Sticks is never a big part of my stories because I never played Rise of Lyrics due to not having a Wii U. I know that's not a real excuse since I have watched the cartoon, but I don't feel like I completely know her.)
When Honest walked into the school that morning, she ran into a new student. It was Sticks the Badger.
"Hey! What's your name?" She asked, seeming pleasant at first.
"H-Honest," Honest replied, unsure.
"We're going to be best friends! Come with me!" Before Honest could protest, Sticks grabbed her arm and led her into the building. Sticks's locker happened to be just to the left of Honest's.
Shadow was standing in front of Honest's locker, clenching his English binder to his chest. Was he waiting there for me?
"H-Hey, Shadow. How long have you been standing there exactly?" Honest asked him.
Shadow replied plainly, "Since I got here."
Honest could feel a sweat drop forming on her forehead. "You didn't have to do that for me. You could've gone to class if you wanted."
Shadow's expression didn't change. "I didn't want to go to class, though." He looked left and right before taking a step in her direction. "I mean, we could always skip class. Missing one period wouldn't hurt." Shadow held the binder even tighter. "We could sit out at the tables behind the school, and you could write in your notebook."
Honest's ears twitched. Then Sticks stepped between them. "You want to go to class together? I have English, too!" Sticks swiped Shadow's binder from him. "And I can help carry your stuff! We're friends now!" Sticks began walking in the direction of the English classroom.
Shadow shrugged and offered his hand to Honest. Honest took it with hesitation, but was interested to find that he would only lead her silently to the classroom behind Sticks.
At lunch, Sticks had Honest sit with her and the rest of the Boom cast. Honest and Shadow followed her to the table. When they attempted to sit down, Sticks stopped them. "Nope. Shadow's not allowed to sit with you," Sticks told them. Shadow begrudgingly walked to the table they usually sat at during lunch.
The fox, the two hedgehogs, and the steroid guzzling echidna made idle conversation at the table, but all Honest could think of was the distance between her and Shadow just then. He was part of the cast, right? Then how come he wasn't allowed to sit with her? It wasn't like she was one of the main characters of the cartoon series. Honest watched Shadow out of the corner of her eye.
Shadow was sitting beside Akane. She was eating her chili dog silently and blankly. Rosy sat across the table from them, going on about something or other that she had heard while browsing Wattpad that morning. Whatever it was had outraged her so much that she was now attempting to eat her applesauce with a fork and was succeeding.
Key sat beside her, sipping a glass of water and depriving herself of food. According to her, she was "fat", but everyone including Honest implored her to quit thinking that and eat a chili dog.
Amy was absent from the table, instead sitting at the Boom table in her redesigned clothing. Rouge, instead, took her place, listening halfheartedly to Rosy blabber on about who knows what.
Shadow looked behind him at Honest solemnly- until he realized she was staring right back. When she saw him turn and look at her, her eyes lit up. "Shadow-kun!" Honest exclaimed, her voice echoing in the crowded cafeteria.
Everyone looked at them, and some of them snickered. Shadow felt his ears light up bright red. He rose from his seat and stomped over to the table Honest and the Boom crew were sitting at.
Sticks stood up as soon as he drew near. "Hey! You're not allowed to sit here!"
"I don't want to sit here," Shadow replied through gritted teeth. "I want Honest back." He latched onto the back of Honest's collar and proceeded to drag her to the table.
"Help," Honest said, barely audible. It was a strange scene for a moment, until Shadow's super strength faded. Honest finally got Shadow to let go of her. Shadow then took one glance at her, then one glance at the crowd around them, then he gave up and walked to his seat.
The crowd around them began to dissipate. Honest scrambled to her feet before following Shadow to the table, her tail flying behind her like a ribbon.
"Honest, what did I say about calling me that in public," Shadow said to her as they got settled at their normal table.
"I'm so, so sorry! I just- it was the first thing I thought of to say!" Honest apologized frantically, waving her hands about. Shadow looked over at her and sighed.
Sticks and the rest of the characters at her table lowered their heads. "I thought we were friends," Sticks whispered.
Honest was happy to be back with her best friend, Shadow. She and him were inseparable for the rest of the day. Plus, the people of their school were starting to get used to their friendship, which may prove to be a great asset further along in the story. If you can even call it that...
(So basically, the reoccurring plot when Sticks is around is that she is way too enthused about everything to the point that she ends up making things truly unbearable for everyone she interacts with.)
I don't know what that was about. It was fun to write, though! :) Future parts will be longer, I just wanted to break the ice.
Updates! I have bunches and bunches of chapters for each of my three books typed up in a Google Doc and ready to submit. There are pictures I need to add to a few of them, so that's why I'm holding off. So, instead of keeping you waiting, I'll be starting a new story that's based off of the game Skyrim and all the crazy things I do in it. It's already written for the most part. I just need to organize the random parts into chapters. Thanks so much for 500 followers, and we're already half way to 600! :DDD
(I never did publish that story even though it was planned to have 100+ chapters, but oh well. And I think it's sad that it's been forever since I originally published this chapter on Wattpad, and yet I'm only just now to 700 followers... but followers don't mean anything to me. Followers and subscribers and watchers are just bragging material after all. ^^)
