"What was that, Captain?" A physician teases under his breath. His voice was barely audible in the quiet and dark room, only so due to his close proximity to his lover's ear. The captain was working days for the next couple of weeks and Kakashi was taking advantage of every moment that they got to spend together in the early mornings before they all headed off to work.

"Stop being a tease." Yamato huffs, a small pout growing on his lips. Kakashi obliges, his mouth attaching to the younger man's neck.

A shiver runs throughout his body, prickling skin, shifting hips, and building desire. He moans and Kakashi sucks in a playfully nervous breath at his collarbone.

"Sh! My husband might hear us." He grins at his naval. Iruka was asleep to their left. His legs were brought into his stomach, hands over his face with blankets tightly in his hands as if to defend his share of them from the other two hogs in the room. They simply didn't make blankets big enough for three men, and sometimes two kids, to share all at once, he'd argue if confronted about it.

Toes curl and another moan echoes in the room. It's louder this time and Yamato's stomach goes weak when his eyes flutter open and his gaze sets on Kakashi. Truth be told, he missed him when he wasn't around. Their playful energy and constant teasing, to some, might've looked dysfunctional but Kakashi knew his boundaries and he knew the physician's. When he wasn't around, he grew weary. Iruka made his absence feel smaller but they often fed off of each other when missing the older man; when Yamato was sulky, so was Iruka.

If somebody had asked him what he envisioned his future to look like he would've been shocked as to how it differed from his reality. Two husbands and four kids wouldn't have been his first choice but he'd be damned if he said that he had come to regret it. He had known Kakashi for a long time before they'd connected. Yamato had been nervous at first. It was hard enough telling your best friend that you were in love with him, let alone factoring in that he was also happily married. He hadn't been expecting anything between them, he'd simply been tired of having to put walls up when the other man was around. To his surprise, Kakashi had kissed him instead.

They had worked together for a little while. Kakashi had been his training officer before he decided that he was better suited for the medical field. His confession had come at the worst time but Kakashi often said that it came at a time when he needed it the most.

His gaze softens on him, swallow thick. Kakashi had been through so much.

Yamato is caught off-guard by his lover's lips against his own. His face flushes in realization but thumbs come up to brush tears away from his eyelashes. He relaxes.

"I didn't think I was that bad..." The physician chuckles fondly, kissing him again in hopes that it would take away whatever emotion he was feeling.

Yamato chuckles. "You're definitely not bad."

"Why're you crying then?" Kakashi questions. Yamato pouts.

"...I love you. That's all." Kakashi grins, rolling his eyes. Yamato can feel the force of the roll even in the darkness between them.

"Oh, here we go with the hopeless romantic stuff again." But the man's voice holds no malice or judgement, only love and fondness. He smiles into a tender kiss.

"Just shut up and get on with it, would you?" Yamato laughs. "You're driving me mad."

"Isn't that what drives us all mad? Love?"

"That psychiatry rotation is going to your head."

"All of the pun included?"

"That's not funny."

"It's kind of funny."

The bed shifts.

"Some people are trying to sleep here." Iruka nearly whines. His tone of voice makes Kakashi grin; he'd been awake this entire time, huh?

"Tenzo, look what you've done." Yamato grins, chewing his lower lip between his teeth at the tease. Generally, they made love in separation. A lot of people thought that they all slept together every time they felt hot but the truth was that the energy he could feel growing between the three of them now was rare. It wasn't out of dislike or dysfunction, it was something they allowed intuition to guide them toward.

He had fallen for Iruka very soon after he and Kakashi had started seeing each other. His ignorance and unfamiliarity to polyamory had him terrified that Iruka would see him as a threat to his marriage but it had been the complete opposite. Iruka had welcomed him into their home and bed, let him chase after a toddling Naruto, and invited him over when Kakashi wouldn't be home. They'd become friends who happened to be in a relationship with the same man and then lovers who had fallen in love with each other of their own accord.

Kakashi turns, pressing his front to Iruka's back. The teacher flushes, trying his best to ignore the fact that his husband definitely knew that he had been getting increasingly aroused with every second that he listened in on their conversation.

"How're you feeling?" He grins. Iruka bites his lip, deciding to roll himself onto his husband, their hips coming to rest together. This time, Kakashi flushes in surprise, his hands falling to his waist without conscious thought. But the younger man doesn't stay there, instead, he settles himself against Yamato.

The captain hums satisfactorily, dark eyes falling on Iruka. "Your husband has no manners."

"I'm well aware."

"Hey. I can still hear the two of you." Kakashi grins, pressing his nose against the teacher's shoulder. Both chuckle.

"Closer please." Iruka whispers, tugging Kakashi by his hips and leaning into Yamato.

Iruka wouldn't admit it out-loud nor could he admit it without blushing, but if he could, he would be sandwiched between the both of them all day, any day. He never thought that any cis-man could love the body that he was given at birth. He had been ready to live out his days without a husband or children but he'd been proven wrong. Not once, but twice, by two different people. Kakashi had been there through every part of his journey while Yamato had met the person that he always hoped he would become after transitioning. They were different but very similar. Boy, was he grateful for Kakashi's intuition. The only thing that scared him about Kakashi bringing another man into their marriage was the potentiality that Kakashi would realize that his body wasn't what he truly wanted, not to mention the probability that Yamato might not be okay with his boyfriend having a trans partner.

He never did.

Had he brought a woman into their marriage, it would've been easier to stop the comparisons before they even entered his mind. With Yamato, at the beginning, he worried that Kakashi compared them every time they made love or ate dinner together. He hadn't. Iruka didn't think that he ever had compared them with one another.

It was comforting.

Spine rests to chest in an alleviation of muscle weakness. Fingers tangle in short golden-brown hair, a sigh of pleasure leaves his throat. The sigh vibrates through Kakashi's lips at Iruka's neck, but he allows his hand to tangle with Iruka's in Yamato's hair for further support. Making their partner weak in the knees was something of a hobby for the pair of them. Iruka thought it was a coincidence but both men knew that they were in league with each other. Yamato's dark eyes peer up from between their partner's legs and Kakashi shivers. Iruka blushes and Yamato grins up at both of them.

It doesn't take them long for Kakashi to settle himself into Iruka, his chest to the teacher's back. Yamato follows suit, chest to chest with Iruka, trapping him between his body and Kakashi's. The physician can only grin now, overcome by a loss of consciousness that only lust could bring upon a human being. He wasn't thinking of much. Truly unable to think about anything other than his two men in front of him.

The captain was making noises of poetry drip from their lover's mouth and his gaze, even through the darkness, as it sets on him, makes him moan softly into Iruka's shoulder. Teeth were bared there, not rough enough to hurt but not gentle enough to feel non-existent. If there was one word to describe what they enjoyed together during intercourse, it would be slow.

All three men enjoyed taking their time with one another. To them, there was something about using body weight and eye contact that made them all desire each other more than anything other couples might think of. But they didn't compare themselves to other relationships. It was hard to do, to compare open love with love that was conditional. They knew that polyamory wasn't for everybody but to compare their relationship with one of different morality felt strange to them.

Kakashi whispers against his neck, Yamato's lips are trailing from his neck to his mouth and Iruka can't help the way his body goes slack between them. Kakashi wraps his arms around his husband's chest, using their newfound closeness to guide Tenzo's lips to his own. Kakashi had always been more sensitive to tastes and smells than his partners, it worked against him most of the time but in this moment, the mixture of himself and Iruka on Tenzo's lips makes him tremble.

Euphoria comes swiftly. Yamato sets off a chain reaction that moves to the right. Kakashi and Iruka come together, the professor's toes curling into the backs of the captain's calves. There is a soft curse on his tongue, forehead resting to Iruka's collarbone, hair tickling the physician's nose.

"We need to do that more often." Kakashi grins.

"We need to clean these sheets." Iruka chimes. Yamato chuckles. Silence falls between them.

The sun was beginning to peak over the horizon, drifting in through the cracks in blinds. A breeze rattles through the open windows on either side of their bed. They can hear the stillness of their home, hear it settle on its foundation, see it brighten in the presence of the sun. In a couple of minutes, the chaos of the morning school run would ensue but until then they could soak up the much needed time of being together.

"Today's the day, huh?" Kakashi whispers.

Iruka hums. "I wish you could've come with us."

"I'll be there in spirit." He chuckles, kissing the professor over his shoulder. Lazy fingers thread through long brown hair, Yamato's eyes fall fondly on the way Iruka's face seems to relax instantly. Noticing his watchful eye, Kakashi does the same to Yamato, allowing his hand to cup the man's face.

"You'll be home early though right? I want all of us to be here when we bring him home."

"You're talking to a resident, Iruka, please remember that." Yamato grins.

"I'll try my best." Kakashi chuckles, nearly whining at the thought of another long shift. He loved doing what he did, but being a first year medical resident was a tough job. "I'm on a twelve today which could turn into 16 or 26." He grins, peppering kisses between words against his husband's skin.

"You'll do your best." Iruka snarks, a subtle grin overcoming his features. Their new placement was set to arrive later on in the afternoon and Iruka wanted everything to be perfect for them when they got back to the house. Unfortunately, they didn't know very much about this particular kid, only that he was the same age as Naruto and had a problem with authority.

Kakashi was nervous about that; it reminded himself too much of him when he was that age.

Both he and Iruka had grown up in the system, tossed aside and turned inside out when a placement didn't work out for them. It was something that allowed their bond to grow and their decision to adopt all the more special. Sometimes, he thought that Iruka was the first person who didn't want anything from him other than his friendship and later, his love. Other times, he thought maybe he'd been so closed off to the world that he'd missed some people who had come before Iruka.

"Papa Yama...? A-Are you o-okay...?" comes a shaky voice from the other side of the door. Kakashi snorts into Iruka's shoulder, Yamato's eyes widen and Iruka stares blankly at their four year old as her little hands push their door open.

"O-Of c-course, darling." Yamato stutters. "Why d-don't you go g-get the boys up for school, huh?"

"Okay!" Ren beams, disappearing from view.

"Ouch!" Kakashi whines, fingers rubbing over the growing lump on his forehead.

"What was that for?"

"For laughing! She could've seen something!"

"It was funny though."

"It wasn't funny."

"Sheesh! You guys are no fun." The physician chuckles.
