Chapter 1

Ghosts and Premonitions.

Sal's POV

It was 10:15 at night when Sal and Larry got the call. Their surrogate mother was in the hospital about to give birth and had called to let them know that their baby was on the way. Overjoyed, the two began to stuff things into bags and ran out the door. It was a thirty-minute drive from the Fisher's small apartment in Nockfell, Larry made the drive in fifteen.

Getting there just as she started pushing. It had been difficult finding a surrogate for same-sex couples in 1998, but just when the two had almost lost hope, a sweet lady named Fran had offered to help them.

Sal remembered when he and Larry first had the conversation. It had been a year after the two had tied the knot and they were sitting in their apartment watching some cop show on tv. Larry had turned to Sal and said.

"I think you would make a great dad Sal." Sal looked over to him. then down at the mask sitting on the worn coffee table.

"What if my face scares them Lar?"

"Ah come on. Don't think like that Sally Face. Just think about how wonderful it would be to have a little bundle of joy in our lives. We'll be a little family!" Sal knew that Larry had always wanted kids, and Sal did too. He really wanted to be a dad. But he was afraid. So afraid of what other parents would say when his kid turned school age, or how the other kids would tease them for having A. Two dads, and B having one of thoes dads be a nightmare hidden behind a mask. Larry cupped sals cheeks in his hand and gently kissed him.

"Don't worry Sal. it'll be ok. You and me? we're gonna be great dads."

The whole procedure took about three hours. Sal had zoned out for half of it, a blur of the words "push" I see the baby's head" "keep breathing" and the occasional "you're almost there!"

When Sal heard the first cry, his heart skipped a beat

"Its a girl!" tears welled up in Sal's eyes. He looked over at his husband who was staring at the baby with his mouth slightly open. His eyes also begin to tear up. Sal smiled and gave Larry a side hug. Sal got one quick look at his newborn daughter before the doctors whisked her away to clean her up. Good lord, her hair was so... Blue! Fran smiled at the pair.

"So what are you going to name her?" She asked. Sal looked at Larry and smiled.

"Harley Bianca."

-8 years later-

It was late. Sal and Larry had put Harley to bed two hours ago, sal checked his watch and sighed. 11:30 He and Larry were trying to get Harley on a better sleep schedule due to summer almost being over. But once again one story turned into two, then three and even four. Sal shook his head chuckling. He couldn't help it. When Harley gave him and Larry those puppy dog eyes there was no way he could say no to his little girl. Sal felt a pair of arms snake around him and smiled, Larry let out a tired grunt as he lay his chin on his husbands shoulder. Sal reached up smiling and caressed his cheek.

"That girl is going to be the death of us Sally Face." Sal let out a low chuckle.

"Maybe but it will have been worth it." Larry gave a slight nod in agreement, letting out a huge yawn as he let go of the smaller man and stretched, his back cracking a little as he did.

"mmm, I'm getting old Sally Face."

"Dude... you're only thirty-one, give it a rest."

"Older than you Shorty."

"By an entire year you dork." Sal was laughing now. Larry smirked and leaned sown kissing Sal's cheek.

"I'm gonna hop in the shower real quick. Care to join me?" sal shook his head.

"Not tonight babe. I'm way too tired." Larry shrugged

"Suit yourself Blue boy." Sal watched him head into the against bathroom and began preparing for bed, pulling off his jeans and sweater and pulling on sweats and one of Larry's old Sanity's Fell T-shirt's that no longer fit him. He opened the door to his bedroom and walked to the kitchen to get some water. On his way back he heard it. Low voices coming from Harley's room. he pressed his ear against the door. She was supposed to be sleeping. what was she even... Two... there were two voices. Sal threw open the door causing his daughter to let out a squeal as a loud piercing shriek rang throughout the room. He knew that sound all too well. The sound of a ghost disappearing. He looked down at his child her brown eyes large and full of worry. But not fear... Sal walked over to her and sat down next to her.

"Hey kiddo... you wanna tell me who was just here?" Sal tried to keep the quiver out of his voice, rubbing Harleys back as he spoke. Harley looked up at him then down to the floor and shook her head.

"He said I'm not supposed to tell you." Now, this ticked Sal off a bit. Whoever this ghost was. he had no right to waltz into his kid's life, and then tell her not to talk about him. He put his hand on the top of her head.

"Come on Baby Blue. You know how we feel about secrets in this family right?" He asked. Harley nodded

"We don't like them." Sal nodded

"Exactly so please tell me who that was. I just want to make sure you're safe. ok? I'm not mad at you I promise." Harley fidgeted a little then looked up at him.

"He didn't tell me his name.. but he said bad things were going to happen." Sal raised an eyebrow

"What kind of things?" she shook her head

"I don't know daddy. He wasn't very sespific. He talked weird and stuff."

"Specific you mean?" Sal asked. Harley furrowed her brow and nodded

"Ya that." Sal pursed his lips then pulled his daughter into a tight hug. His mind was going a million miles a minute. How did a ghost show up here? Did she find his gear boy? no way it was still locked in the attic and Harley was way too small to even be able to begin to reach the rope to pull down the ladder. So how? He was broke from his thoughts when he felt his daughter patting his cheek.

"Daddy? daaadyyy." he blinked and looked down her. She looked up at him with a curious look on her small face. "Are you ok daddy?" Sal took a deep breath and nodded.

"Ya ya I'm a fine princess I just.. was thinking. Hey, how bout you sleep in mine and papa's room tonight huh? Would you like that?" Harley grinned and clapped her hands.

"Yay! sleepover with daddy and Papa!" Sal smiled at her and gathered her blankets, an extra pillow, and her teddy bear. Just for tonight. He thought to himself. tomorrow was a Saturday. his day iff. he decided he would have to pay a visit to the Morrisons and find out what the hell was going on. He sighed. Jesus Larry wasn't going to like this.
