I DON'T OWN NARUTO
Chapter 3: Genjutsu Dispelled
Immediately after Sasuke and Naruto released everyone from the genjustu, Sakura and Kakashi raced down the hill to help the previously encased prisoners. As the pods slowly opened, the Copy Ninja noted that nearly all the victims were shellshocked. Their eyes either glazed over and bloodshot. Many had their mouths hanging open in confusion. The majority had completely forgotten about the old Shinobi rule of showing absolutely no emotion during a mission as their tears started flowing freely down their cheeks while they sobbed in despair. This was to be expected as the Infinite Tsukiyomi's ability to allow everyone's dream world be depicted in their imagination. Waking up to find what you longed for most suddenly disappear could break even the most emotionless.
'Shit, the genjutsu must've caused some sort of pyschological damage to everyone. Better pray Tsunade-sama or Sakura has some sort of solution seeing as those two are our current best medics.' Kakashi noted, his forehead was creased with worry.
Tsunade had finally woken up. She was one of the last to wake due to the massive amount of chakra she depleted during her battle with Madara and her using the byakugou. Her eyes fluttered open. They were glassy and her lips were quivering.
'Nawaki...Jiraiya...Dan.' she recited. Her head were currently filled with depressing thoughts. Sakura noticed her sensei and sprinted to her side. She took in the terrible state the Slug Sannin was currently in. Sakura closed the distance and embraced Tsunade in a tight hug.
As soon as Tsunade felt another body pressing into hers, she was jolted back to reality. She slapped herself hard on her cheek and reminded herself that she was the fifth Hokage and didn't have the luxury of wallowing in her sorrows like she had done many years prior. She had a duty to stay vigilant and protect the Konoha shinobi right now. No. Scratch that, ever since the beginning of the war, her duty of protection has spread to all shinobi of the elemental nations. They had all worked together to succeed and many had sacrificied their lives for shinobi from other nations.
The Senju cleared her throat and said in her usual commanding voice "Inform me of everything that has occured. Explain each part thoroughly and don't you dare leave a single detail out."
Sakura looked fearful for a second, then steadied herself. With great courage, she replied "No. I can't Tsunade-sama. I have no right to explain what happened. In fact, I don't even know the details. Only Naruto and Sasuke knows. They're the only ones who have the authority to share what occured." The pink-haired shinobi's tone made the decision seem like it was final yet Sakura couldn't help but flush a deep red and averting her gaze to her sandled feet. She has never in her life talked back to the Fifth Hokage.
Tsunade smiled and asked Sakura to go tend to the other victims. Tsunade shouted out at Sakura's retreating figure "You've really matured well Sakura". Sakura just glanced back but for that split second look back, Tsunade could see pride on Sakura's face. After that, many thoughts were going through her head but she couldn't think of a logical thoery on what method Naruto and Sasuke used to saved everyone. She quickly gave up on pondering and decided it was best to focus on the task at hand. She rose to her feet, wincing slightly as her wounds had yet to fully heal. Staggering, she started to tend to the waves of shinobi that were still in despair.
8 Hours Later [11 PM]
The wounded have all been tended to by medical-nins and every shinobi were back in their vilages temporary camp. The Kages were all in a nuetral location discussing boring formal matters and had left their second in commands to look after these camps (Darui, Kurotsuchi, Temari, Chojuro and Shizune respective to the village they belonged to).
In the Kumo camp, the ninja were doting over Bee, who was standing on a chair while he was spitting out bars like no tomorrow (he claimed it a free concert for the Kumo-nins as they all deserved a prize after winning the war). Omoi had anime tears leaking down his face as he approached the Hacibi Jinchuuriki as Bee had just finished his seventeeth song of the night.
"Killer Bee-sama, how are your wounds? Are you hurt anywhere?" Bee gave him a big grin and promptly shouted back his response "Omoi, I've fully recovered, a biju-dama that can keep me down is yet to be discovered." Everyone sweatdropped at him as he pranced around the room, occasionally shouting "Bakayaro, Konoyaro" and making a devil sign with his right hand.
The cloud nins decided to party all night after being granted Darui's approval to celebrate their victory and to try at least forget a bit of the pyschological pain they still hadn't gotten over.
In the Kiri camp, it wasn't nearly half as lively. Chojuro was on the verge of a nervous breakdown seeing as he was put in charge (forcefully) by the Mizukage. She thought the experience of commanding and maintaining the peace of the camp would do Chojuro some good as he was always WAY WAY WAY too self-conscious despite being arguably the strongest ninja right now in Kiri apart from Mei herself. He wasn't the only current Seven Swordsmen without a reason.
The night in Kiri was a quiet and peaceful one apart from the random yelps from the on-site Mizukage's office as Chojuro tried to deal with various problems people came to him to resolve.
In the Iwa camp, it was dead silent. It was confinement the second the Iwa nins arrived at camp. They were to not leave the tents they were assigned to and were only allowed to chat with the other nins that were sharing thieir four man tents. Ohnoki had ordered this right before he set off to the Kage meeting. Although he had softened up a bit during the war, he still wanted to prove to that he had absolute control over every situation despite his old age leading to his authoritarian ways. He decided to confine his soldiers to stop the spread of rumors that were bound to be circulating in the other villages camps by now and also so his men could be given a chance to recover and grieve in peace.
Deep down, he cared for the people of Iwa more than himself even if they sometimes bad-mouthed his outdated ideology. In one of these tents, Kurotsuchi and three top jonin Kunoichi were inside. Kurotsuchi found herself not really needing to do any work after her grandfather announced his lockdown protocol so she trekked into her assigned tent and instantly collapsed onto her bed.
The tents were compact for a military tent and only took about eight steps to get from one side to the other but it was still spacious enough to fit two sets of bunk beds as well as a wardrobe and two drawers. The only special thing about them was that it was two-storied. The fibre the tent was made from had chakra infused in every fibre allowing even the heaviest of people to walk across it. The floor of the top floor was made of this matieral therefore allowing for extra space in the tent.
Currently the other three kunoichi were upstairs lounging around, having girl talk or something. 'May as well see how the others are doing' the thought formulating in Kurotsuchi's mind. She slowly got to her feet and trudged her feet slowly towards the ladder that leads upstairs. Just as she was about to mount the ladder, she heard the conversation commencing upstairs.
"Did you see how cool Uzumaki-san was? I nearly got killed by an Edo Kiri-nin when he just showed up and took it down in like two seconds" a girl squealed out. Kuro knew by the voice who it was. Tamaki was her name and she had long light brown hair that was sectioned off into two ponytails on opposite sides of her head. She had bright orange eyes, fair skin and was about 5 foot 1. Practically every single male in the village fancied her much to the displeasure of other females excluding Kuro and a handful of others.
Currently aged 18, she's the youngest jonin in Iwa due to her expertise in stealth and recon missions, her fire and rock release also certainly didn't hurt her reputation. Kuro saw herself as somewhat of a older sister figure towards her as Tamaki often stuck by her side during jonin meetings seeing as most pf the other jonins were pervy men or over the age of 30. Kuro instantly smirked thinking of all the teasing that was headed Tamaki's way. She made her way upstairs and looked Tamaki dead in her eyes.
"... I'm so telling Naruto you have a crush on him once I see him again." cackled Kuro who was close to pissing herself at the red-faced Tamaki. Tamaki screeched at Kuro before chasing after her screaming empty threats. They were most definitely the noisiest tent in the Iwa base that night.
In the Suna camp, Temari and Kankuro were chatting in the temporary Kazekage office. Temari had given free rein over what the Suna shinobi should do as long as they don't leave the camp site. The siblings were currently discussing the events of the war while retelling their own battles they experienced.
Kankuro was full of pride when he told Temari he took down arguably the two strongest puppeteers in Suna's history. "Temari, you should've seen me. I barely broke a sweat. This definitely makes me the top puppet master to ever grace the lands". Temari rolled her eyes as Kankuro continued boasting about his skill. She had always acknowledged Kankuro's skill but sometimes he was a little too fond of self-praise.
"Yeah, yeah. You fought some weird red-head and an old granny. Big deal. I fought the fucking Thrid Raikage. He was like nearly invincible until Naruto showed up. Without him, the Third would've definitely taken out my whole squadron in minutes." Temari reminisced the most difficult battle she had been involved with.
Kankuro gasped. "The one that held off a fucking army for 3 straight days? He was like an idol to me. I wanted to go study his body when I was younger to make an indestructible puppet before. Man, how did that fucking idiot Naruto get so strong? I can still remember our first encounter with him like it was yesterday".
Temari smiled. "He used to be a little twerp playing around with eight year olds but he was always strong. Remember him taking out Gaara? That shit was impressive as fuck. I haven't seen him in a while though. I wonder if he's alright."
"Knowing him, he's probably on strike until someone gives him ramen. He's like a junkie for that stuff. I'm sure he's fine." Kankuro laughed as he could clearly see that situation happening. The two just made conversation all night until finally drowsiness overcame them and they promptly passed out in the Kage office.
In the Konoha camp, the majority of leaf nins were trying to find a certain ramen addict to show him their respect or just to even catch a glimpse of him. All the hate some still had for him vanished into thin air. Without Naruto's help, the other side would've easily obliterated the five villages' forces. They were of course unable to locate him as he was in the medical tent beinged tended to. The only people allowed access to it were Sakura and Shizune being the elite medics in Konoha. Shizune had handed off her temporary Hokage role to Shikamaru in favour of helping Sakura perform procedures on Naruto and Sasuke.
Sakura stared at the two ninja, both of whom were still unconscious from chakra exhaustion. She took their heart rate and then used her medical ninjutsu to give them both a blood transfusion every hour due to the extreme lose of blood from losing one of their limbs.
"They both should be making a full recovery but I'm not sure when they'll wake up. Both of them are in a comatose state" Sakura said.
Shizune nodded glumly. "I'm sure they'll pull through. It's them two we're talking about. They won't let a stupid, little coma keep them out for long. We've done all we can, all we can do is wait. Also we need to discuss how we should combat these mental scars everyone sustained from that weird tree. I've heard of a clan that cleansed people's brain to negate negative memories but they're so under the radar, I'm beginning to think they don't exist. In fact, I've only heard about them once in a bar!"
"Well, that's our only lead to healing everyone. We should start researching this as soon as we get back to Konoha. There's bound to be a massive rise in depression unless we do something fast."
With that somber thought in mind, they continued to check-up on the two invalids, regularly giving them blood.
3 AM
The dreadful Kage meeting finally ended and Tsunade was nearly jumping for joy. Sitting in a dimly lit room, wearing that annoyingly big hat was definitely not something she had on her bucketlist. The five of them discussed for a full six hours. The Sannin had zoned out for most of the minor details of the meeting but she remembered the main points well.
They were to find out the ending of the war once Naruto woke up and gave his account of what happened, they were to give an announcement in the morning to their shinobi, informing them about the agreed upon plan of action. Perhaps the most important was the agreement of keeping the five villages' peace treaty intact. They were now planning to allow their ninja to freely visit other villages without having a formal reason and perhaps even exchange shinobi for a few months to give the nins more experience on foreign lands. Trade routes and permanent citizenships were also a topic they discussed. These ideas were to be finalised within the next few meetings.
Tsunade had been grateful that the assembly had turned out to be a massive success but cursed her luck at having to attend many more annoying meetings in the near future.
'That damn gaki better take this stupid fucking hat off my head sooner rather than later' and with the thought, she headed back to her room and drank all her emergency sake which led to her promptly passing out.
Story is starting off a bit slow but it's basically all prologue right now but that'll change soon. I promise :)
I've also decided to keep the chapters shorter like 1.5k-2.5k words so I can update it more regularly. Sorry if that upsets some of yous.
I'm sorry for not updating this as regularly as I hope but I had some shit I had to sort out in my personal life lol. I don't have a regular update schedule which I should to be honest but I don't want to put pressure in myself to write. Forcing ideas would definitely be really bad
Also I've finally figured out how to use the line I'm kinda stupid i know i know
As usual, please point out any grammer mistakes or ideas to me. All favourites, follows and reviews are appreciated and I'll reply to all reviews (unless your guest, then I'm not able to)
Thanks everyone, appreicate the support ;)
