While on the way from Gotham to Boston, he tracked down Frank Castle in prison.

He hadn't seen Frank in years. He and Aunt Marie had lived with his parents for two years. Frank's a Grimm like his dad was. Seeing Frank like that was completely depressing. He was completely 100% full of rage and revenge. His eyes were empty. There was no joy or anything happy left inside of him.

Frank is happy to see Nick, but he's completely obsessed with revenge. That's all he can talk about - all the Wesen he's going after. He's going to go after the Royals next, then The Foot.

Soon they are on the way over to see another buddy. He's a lawyer friend named Matt Murdoch. Aunt Marie and his dad were good friends. Matt had stayed with Aunt Marie for a year after his father died and he always kept up with her. Matt's Dad was a Grimm too. It was the same thing with Matt though. His entire existence was filled with vengeance and revenge. The guy was miserable every time he stopped grinding. That's no way to live.

They ran into Elektra Natchios there as well. She was a Grimm too. Same story as all the rest, except she was ultra rich. Her life was completely empty and devoid of joy. She enjoyed mischief and hacking up Wesen but it betrayed her constant emptiness.

Late the next night Nick was talking to Adalind. "Every single Grimm Aunt Marie and I stayed with is the same. Empty and alone. Consumed by rage, vengeance, and murder. Every single one of them does nothing but stare constantly into the abyss. I can see it in their eyes. I hear it in their voices. They forgot what life is about - it's like they are living inside a Grimm book where there's nothing but death."

He pulled her in extra close "I think you saved my life! I would be a Frank Castle if you hadn't witched me when you came into the precinct pregnant with Kelly."

She smiled and pulled him in close "That wasn't exactly my plan."

He smirked "I know. I know it was just part of that shenanigan to get Diana back. You waited on The Royals to come get you for the better part of six months."

She smiled "I wasn't a good person. This wasn't my intention, but I'm glad they never came back. You saved me. I had no idea what love even was or what a decent relationship was. The Evil Adalind your Mom always goes on about is who I should have been. I had no intention of ever keeping Diana. It was only after you intervened in my life that night when your Mom dragged me into your house that I even started caring about her. I had never named her because she was just a thing. Being around you and your friends for those few days were the first time I had ever experienced decency and compassion in my entire life."

He smiles "I'm worried about Catherine. I think Mom's the worst possible influence she could have."

She laughs out loud "Let's just be thankful my mom is still dead!"

Nick smirks. He wasn't going to say it.

She smiles "But what are we supposed to do? I mean she runs away and tracks Mom down every time we try to do something else. She's a Hexenbiest and sometimes we have to get ground through life the hard way to learn decency, compassion, and love. I had to learn the hard way."

He smiles "I am so lucky I had Aunt Marie. I can't imagine what I would be like if Mom had raised me any longer."

Adalind smiles. She is thankful for Aunt Marie raising Nick as well.

They're now snuggled up extra tight.

Finally they get to Elizabeth's house in Boston to pick up Chuck. She has him in private school, water polo, violin lessons, and professional martial arts training. It's clear that she is grooming him for medical school. As always, Chuck is smiling a big bright smile. The kid is so naturally charming and has a ton of charisma, which Elizabeth is working hard to maximize.

Now it's off to pick up Kelly. They stop off in Metropolis to see the skyscrapers and have lunch in the famous diner across from The Daily Planet.

While at lunch they run into Eve. She is smiling a big smile, but the man she is eating lunch with gets confused when the kids plop down and start calling her "Aunt Eve."

Then he sees Adalind and his eyes get all misty. "Adalind! Remember me, Clark Kent!"

"Clark! Is that really you? It's been what, nearly thirty years!" she turns "Clark and I dated a little while during his senior year in High School."

He's smiling a big goofy smile at Adalind which is grating on Eve. "How's your Grandmother by the way." he laughs and turns to Nick "She always hated me. Threatened to kill me if I dated Adalind."

Adalind rolls her eyes "She's the same. She hates Nick too."

Clark laughs and claps Nick on the shoulder "Ha! Well buddy, I'm in good company then. Hey, where do your kids know Lois from?"

Nick smirks "Lois?" but Adalind gets a concerned look. Eve scowls at both of them.

Clark smiles "Yeah, Lois Lane. You remember Lois, right Adalind? We're engaged now."

Adalind smirks "Of course, Lois, how could I forget. Hey, I'm glad you guys got back together after you went off to college."

They chat and tell stories from Smallville High School. Clark gets googly eyed every time he looks at Adalind which makes Eve furious, but Adalind has no interest in Clark

Afterwards Nick asks Adalind what that was all about.

Nick smirks "You witched him didn't you?"

Adalind shrugs "Clark is an alien. He's from planet Krypton. Our sun gives him super powers but he can't see Wesen. I was jealous of Lois and hated her - so I stole her boyfriend. I didn't know witching effected him as powerfully as it does" and she shrugs again "Grandma found out. She freaked and tried to kill him, so I blamed Lois for everything and broke it off. I wasn't a nice person."

Nick smirks again "That explains it. He seems to have no idea Eve isn't Lois Lane."

Adalind smirks again "I saw the look on Eve's face. Lois is definitely dead. She was a Lowen and hated me with every scrap of her being. I made a point to steal every single one of Lois's boyfriends completely out of spite and then broke up with them just to make her jealous. She hated me even more than Juliette did. I knew instantly from his expression that Eve has been witching Clark just like I had."

Nick smiles "Well, I'm just glad it worked out for them."

Adalind snickers thinking about it "I wonder if he's some sort of HW project that she's working on."

Nick snickers "I couldn't imagine them trying to team him up with a Grimm like Bruce Wayne! Imagine how weird that would be."

Now Adalind laughs out loud. "Yeah, he didn't exactly strike me as a teamwork sort of guy."

Nick smirks "Nope, and he hates Wesen. He calls them Mutants."
