However, the next day when Noelle woke up to go to eat breakfast, she saw her siblings standing in the living room waiting for her. She didn´t understand what they were doing there so early. At first, she thought something has happened, but Solid surprised her. She saw that the bulls were in guard, waiting for her to say something.
– I thought I owned you this – he said giving her a teddy bear. But it wasn´t any teddy bear, it was the exact teddy bear he ripped when she was a little girl.
– How come you have this? – She asked confused.
– He spent the whole night sewing this. – Nebra said laughing. It was the first time Noelle saw her sister laughing in that way.
– So, are you going to take it or not, brat? - Solid asked in his usual way. Noelle smiled and just took the teddy bear.
Noelle thanked him. She was so happy that she couldn´t pretend her smile. She saw that his fingers had a lot of scratches. She never saw Solid doing anything to someone, and seeing him doing that for her, was a dream.
– But you own us an apology, how come you don´t consider us your family? – Nebra asked her while she was crossing her arms. Noelle was surprised by her sister's attitude, she seemed angry about it. But what Noelle could do? It was the truth.
–You can´t blame me, it's not like my life was good when I was with you – she said honestly.
–And why don´t you try to change it? – She asked and Noelle was so surprised that she couldn´t even understand what her sister meant.
– What do you mean? – Noelle asked and her sister rolled her eyes.
– Are you idiot? I'm saying to you, that you are not allowed to say something like that, you said you don´t have good memories with us. So, you must spend time with us to create those so-called good memories. – She explained while Noelle just nodded in confusion.
Noelle couldn´t understand what was happening in front of her. She thought that now things could be different. But she never thought that her siblings would be like that. She thought it would need more time for them to heal. Well, at least she wasn´t ready yet. But apparently, they were trying their best to make amends.
– Noelle, I know this sounds rush, we are really sorry for everything, I don´t expect you to forgive us right now, but I want you to know that we are here for you. – Finally, Nozel opened her mouth. He seemed calm, but Noelle knew he wasn´t.
– I forgive you guys, but it will take a while to let you be in my life – she confessed. She had a lot of problems because of them. She was still too afraid to let her guards down in front of them.
– Take your time, whenever you are ready – he said while patting her head. Noelle brushed with his brother's attitude. It was the first time he showed any kind of affections to her. – I'm proud of you, do you know that? – He said smiling, his hands were still on her head when he was saying that.
Noelle brushed a lot with that. It was also the first time she was seeing his brother's smile. He also said something that she never thought he could say: that he was proud of her. Noelle didn´t know how she got that, but these words were like a present to her. She wishes that this wasn´t a dream.
– We should go – Nozel said abruptly for Noelle disappointment. She wished she could at least spend some time with her siblings. Now that they were trying to make amends with her. She didn´t know how desperately she was for that until she received some love from them.
– Don´t you want to come and have food or something? – She asked with sadness in her face.
I'm sorry Noelle, but we have a lot to do. we can´t just be chilling around – he said a little too harsh.
The girl just nodded in acceptance. She should have known better than expect too much from her siblings. After her siblings left, she went to the kitchen where the bulls were already eating. They tried to cheer up, but it was useless. She was too sad about what had happened. She thought she had moved on from their siblings and their opinions, but the truth is she wasn't. She knew that she was better than that because she was acknowledged by stronger people. But deep down, she was still the little girl who eager to be loved.
That's the reason why she became so attached to the bulls. Because they accepted her and treated her like a family. And they loved her for the way she is. She thought that it was enough. But once she saw how her mother was, and her sibling's affections. She was sure that she couldn´t just move on. She needed them in her life as much as she needs the bulls. She never said that out loud, but the truth was: she wanted love desperately.
Unfortunately for her, things become even worse. Her siblings didn´t talk to her anymore and every time she tried to make some contact, they just ignored her. The bulls were also very weird with her. They were always talking something behind her back, and once she asked something, they ignored her. Asta was even worse. He didn´t even talk or look at her. He was clearly avoiding her. She wondered if they were angry with her. She wanted to ask, but at the same time, she was afraid of the answer.
– What is this? – Noelle asked when she saw a packet in her name.
– It's a dress, you are going to wear this in a mission – Yami said in his usual indifference tone.
– Why should I wear a dress on a mission? – She asked confused.
– Because you will need to enter in one of these noble's party and investigate some weird things – he explained and Noelle just nodded.
It was a good thing she had a mission. Now she could concentrate in something else. However, she was confused about the light blue dress and all the stuff she received. For a mission, she thought they were putting a lot of effort to make her look very impressive. With that dress, she could easily be the host of the party. She wondered if this would be good because she shouldn´t take so much attention in a mission. But maybe it was a plan. At least she hoped.
When she arrived downstairs, she saw only Finral in a green suit. She saw his looks on her, and she brushed. However, he didn´t say anything. Instead, he just offered his arms to her without looking at her face. She wondered if she exaggerated in the makeup or something. Once they arrived at the place, she was surprised to see that it was Silva's residency. But before she could say anything, she saw everyone there in what looked like a party.
– Happy Birthday, Noelle – Finral said smiling at her.
– How do you know today was my birthday? – She asked confused looking to everyone who was smiling.
– Do you think I wouldn´t know the birthday of my subordinates? – Yami replied. He was wearing a simple black suit, but Noelle was impressed of how dashing he looked. Charlotte, the captain of Blue Roses, was near him wearing a very beautiful blue dress. They could easily pass as a couple.
– Wait, did you guys plan a birthday party for me? – She asked in surprise. She would have never dreamed of something like that happening to her.
– We didn´t plan, we just helped them – Vanessa replied in a smile on her face. She was wearing a purple dress quite revealing, but still beautiful.
At this moment she saw her siblings standing on the other side. They were looking at her with a sincere smile on their faces. She was about to say something when Nozel went to her side and said.
– I would be a very bad brother if I didn´t make a party for my sister's birthday, don´t you think? – He asked while he holds her taking her into the salon to start a dance with her. – By the way, you look pretty than usual – he said brushing a lot. Noelle didn´t answer that, she was too embarrassed by his brother's display of affection.
Brother, you should let it go a little from Noelle, I also want to dance with her – Solid said in a smug smile. Nozel just let it go from here and let Solid take the lead. – You are his favorite. He was very nervous this week with all these preparations. He almost drove Nebra and me crazy with it – he commented while dancing with her.
– That's why you guys ignored me? – Solid just nodded. – I thought you were avoiding or were not prepared to forgive me – she confessed.
– There was nothing to forgive though, our mother is right we should be good to each other and take care because we are family – he said in a firm voice.
They continued their dance a little more. While they were dancing, they started a conversation. She realized her brother was actually a very talkative guy and he also reminded a little their mother. She wondered if her brother was always like that. She decided that it wouldn´t be difficult to have a friend like him. He was the type of person who could easily get in any kind of environment.
– Solid, you also should let it go a little from her, Noelle's friends also want to dance or talk to her – Nebra interrupted their dance. She seemed angry, but actually she was trying her best to hide her smile. Solid just apologize and went to do something else. – You better get used to them; they are very protective to the point that is suffocating – she said serious but smiling a little.
– I can get used to it – she replied. She definitely can get used to it. –How are you? – She asked insecurely. After everything that she heard from her sister, she wondered if there was still something that her sister holds against her.
Nebra looked at her with a serious face. She opened and closed her mouth, but words didn´t come. They were in silence for a few seconds and Noelle could see that it was also difficult for her sister. Noelle couldn´t blame her. For Nebra, everything revolved around Noelle. So, she also probably had more complicated feelings going on. Noelle could accept it and give her time.
– I'm fine, I may be jealous of you, but you are my little sister and I want to know you and help you – she said the last part and turned her face to the boy in her left who was waiting for something. – You can have your dance now – Nebra said to the boy who just nodded.
Then, Noelle looked at the boy in front of her. He was dashingly handsome. He was wearing all black suit with a red tie. He was looking like a nasty guy. His face was severe, something weird from him. But Noelle loved it. She found him quite interesting in that way. She realized that she also liked this Asta.
Do you know how to dance? – She asked when she saw him holding her hands and with another hand, he pushed her into him, a little too much from a simple dance. This time, she wouldn´t complain or say something. She would take her mother's advice and let it go a little.
– I've been practicing for a while for this – he said seriously while starting the dance with her.
She tried to say anything more, but he kept answering in a very short way. At first, she got annoyed by it. But then she realized he was serious because he was trying his best to not make any mistake. She could see for the way he was looking straight to her face. He was serious because he was determined to give her the best dance. So, she decided to give him the best smile and play along with it. After all, this was over, she would say to the bulls and her family how thankful she was to have them in her life. It wasn´t like she wanted a birthday party, she could leave without it. But she was thankful that they did it anyway.
Finally, she realized what the wish's maker meant by something that can make her happy. She didn´t know who gave that to her, but she was very thankful for it. It was indeed the best birthday present that she could receive. Now Noelle could finally move on and be happy because at that moment she realized she had people who loved and care for her. She had two families. And the most important thing, she realized that it was okay to show some of her feelings. With that in mind, she just learning in Asta's shoulder and let him conduct the rest of the dance. She didn´t know what the other was thinking about that attitude or even Asta's opinion, but she decided that today she wouldn´t pretend her feelings.
