Chapter 3:

Mr. Schue, although being told Rachel is fine, can see the poor quality of her wellbeing. Taking the back of his hand, he gently places it across the center of Rachel's forehead. He immediately jumps back slightly surprised by the heat radiating off of her skin.

"Rachel you feel extremely warm! Here is a pass to the nurses office, I don't care if you say you are fine, I want you to go get your temperature checked."

Rachel began to protest, but then Mr. Schue began to speak again. "And if you have a fever, you need to call your dads and go home. I know glee is really important to you, but your health matters even more."

Rachel in a huff tries to stand up, but her knees are incredibly shaky underneath her. Still trying to prove that she is perfectly healthy, she uses every last bit of strength to walk out of the door.

Knowing very well that she has a fever, Rachel decides to not go to the nurse's office. Being the overly prepared person that she is, she keeps a full first aid kit in her locker, including a thermometer.

Even though she is clearly avoiding the nurse, she takes her temperature to see how bad of condition she is in. Swiping it across her forehead, the thermometer beeps and shows a reading of 102.6. Knowing her fever is serious, she makes the decision to only take two ibuprofen and return to class.

At this point there is only 5 minutes of class left, but Rachel decides to walk back into Spanish to explain that she is in "perfect" health.

As she walks through the door, Mr. Schue along with the rest of her class looks stunned that she has not gone home yet.

"The nurse said that I don't have a fever and am good to stay in school." It's a total lie, but it is the only way to finally get everyone off of her back.

The next two periods proved to be even harder than she originally thought. Not having those classes with any of her glee members made things better, not having to hide her current condition as much.

She sat in the back of the room and silently placed her head on the desk, holding back any bile that she felt was going to spew out. Her teachers didn't seem to notice her not participating in the lessons, which definitely made her life a little easier.

Finally, it was lunch time where she could find a quiet room to lay down and try to recover before glee practice at the end of the day. Before she even had the chance to find a quiet place, a wave of sickness washed over her and she ran (but more-so dragged) her body to the girls' room.

As she was entering the restroom, Mr. Schue spotted her limp body entering. Concerned for his star student, he waited outside to further question her on her current condition.
