Prologue

Three years... For three fucking years I had to watch on as these undead bastards suck out all the life that remain within humanity. So much so that I'm beginning to feel like I am all that's left of its blood. Just a little droplet. The people who have gone and lost their damn minds because of this fucked up apocalypse... cannot even be considered human anymore. Only savage beasts; just like "them". The things that I have seen insanity commit; it's all just been so horrible and so bloody gruesome. I myself have done things that I'm not proud of, but they took things to a whole new level. Unfortunately, that is the way of the world during these dark and dire times. If you want to truly survive, you have to be mentally and physically prepared to do whatever it takes to make that happen. If you aren't prepared, well, you have only two options left to take. You can either find the nearest way to end your own life... or let "them" do it for you, your choice. Sounds pretty fucked up, I know, but you'll come to understand that if you don't have what it takes to live in this new world, it's better just to end it all right then and there. The living didn't have a say in the matter. And with the world being as hopeless as it is... I don't think that we ever will.

Returning to the real world from his somber mind, Takashi sighed while running a hand through his spiky hair, slouching and hanging his head for a moment as he then lowered his forearms over the metal railing he stood by. "As much as I hate to admit it.." He whispered dejectedly, looking up to the starry sky above with a look to match his tone.

Normally, Takashi wasn't one who'd allow his mind to become consumed with sadness, but for some reason, tonight was when he felt especially vulnerable to it. He didn't know what it was that made him feel this way. Was the full weight of his lonesome starting to lay itself onto him? Was the fear of him being all that's left beginning to get to him? Or, was he starting to gradually lose his will to survive in this hellhole he calls Earth? All because he finds that living for himself... just doesn't feel worth it anymore.

Takashi was seventeen when the world went to shit, and since then, three years had gone by and he was now twenty years of age. He hadn't changed much in terms of his appearance, other than his hair growing out to reach the base of his neck. With no proper barber around anymore, there's not really much he can do about his hair problem. He'd do it himself, but... well, let's just say that he doesn't want to find out if he's bad at cutting hair or not. Thankfully, he didn't have to worry much about it as his hair had stopped its growth a little over two years ago, having been the way it is for all that time.

When it comes to his attire, he wore what he had on the day the apocalypse commenced; which was a red tee shirt underneath the fabrics of his high school uniform. He cleanses them every couple days mind you and does have other clothes to wear. His current clothes is just what he prefers to have on most of the time. To give himself more of a badass survivor appearance, on both his hands were black fingerless gloves that had oval-shaped holes at the back of the palm, and on his feet were a pair of black steel toe shoes. It wasn't much, but it felt pretty badass to him.

Now, as is the case for anyone trying to survive against the undead, Takashi was never without a weapon of some sort. Holstered underneath his jacket by his left pectoral was a black SIG Sauer P226 9mm handgun, his personal favorite. Of course, he had to have ammunition on hand as strapped around his waist was an ammo belt that held a few loaded magazines. If one thinks that this is all that he has in his arsenal, they are sorely mistaken. Hell, you'd be surprised with what he had recovered over the last three years within the bloody ruins of Tokonosu. He never would've expected that his city would contain such goodies for him to scavenge, but shit, he wasn't complaining. Hmm, perhaps he should thank the JSDF for that. But, it's a shame that he couldn't as they didn't last too long in this neck of the woods. He highly doubted they did anywhere.

Not being one of those "travelling survivors", Takashi always tried to keep himself hunkered down to one place. A place that he can call his base, and maybe even home. Because of them, he often refers to his current place as a base, as every now and then, the undead that would randomly stumble upon his property would end up sucking away on the homey atmosphere that he tried to build. It was frustrating, that he won't deny. But he accepted that having a home in this day and age, might just never be possible. Still, he had to have hope for something, right?

Speaking of his "property", even before the end of days had occurred, it was a place that Takashi was quite familiar with. As were many others his age at the time before they... perished.

Fujimi Academy. Sure, it was a large place for a lone survivor like Takashi to take shelter in, but when he decided to claim it as his own and clear it of infected a year back, it sounded like a good idea at the time. When all the madness started, Takashi had originally taken refuge at his old house. Where he was completely and utterly alone.

During the first two years of the pandemic, he had to wake up everyday in that place realizing that he had no one left. That he was all alone and had no family to wake up to. No, he hasn't got the slightest clue of what had happened to his parents. All he could do... was take a lucky guess. Eventually, he couldn't stand staying there any longer as it just didn't feel like home anymore. For all it is to him now was just a painful memory of how things used to be, and a reminder of what will never be again.

When he opted to switch "bases", he wanted it to be someplace that was familiar to him, while also being big. With how dangerous the outside world is, journeying into the unknown was the last thing on his mind. Call him a coward if you must, but like hell was he willing to take any risky chances. He was just being smart, after all. Anyway, with that criteria in mind, there was only one place that fit the bill.

And that brings us back to the present. For a little over a year now, Fujimi Academy has been Takashi's shelter. And believe him, the moving process wasn't easy. During the first couple weeks of his relocation, Takashi first had to clean the school grounds of the infected trash. And with how fucking vast the campus is, it took him a lot of patience, careful planning and killing to get the job done. It's a good thing that the undead only ever react to sound, or else his life would've been all the more complicated, or dead. Plus, his knowledge in the art of stealth was a big aid. When he was certain that the school was zombie free, he put in the effort to clean up his mess and fix the school gates before moving himself and his most essential belongings in. Now it wasn't the best job he had done at repairing something, but it was sturdy enough to keep a fair number of them out. If he can help it, he'd never let any of them even get close to the gates. It pays to have a PSG-1SD sniper rifle in his arsenal for such occasions. And not to mention a rooftop that allows him to watch all corners of the campus, and even look out into his destroyed city. Though he hardly pays the latter view any mind.

Anyway, so far, his time at the barren academy hasn't been all bad, definitely better than his previous base. He had a lot of space to himself to do whatever the hell he wanted, a track and gymnasium - along with its equipment - at his disposal to keep himself in shape, and a library full of books for entertainment purposes. Hell, there was even a television in the faculty room that he used to play video games and watch movies on. It's a miracle that his city still had power. Unfortunately, he was stuck only watching any DVDs that he could get his hands on. God, he misses online gaming. As well as a lot of other gifts that the internet had to offer. Along with society, the internet itself had collapsed into nothingness. But he's learned to move on without it, obviously.

Now, if only he had someone to share all this space... and his time with..

Back to reality, Takashi pulled himself out of his recollection of recent history before it was too late. If he had delved into that last thought any further, he'd most surely drive his emotions downhill even more, and that's not something he wanted. With a slight shake of his head, he faced down from the dark sky and looked to the front gate someways off down below, sighing in content as it was still free of any limping intruders. So with that in mind, he felt that it was a good idea to catch some z's.

Emitting a low yawn, Takashi turned a bit to go and leave the roof, looking forward to falling face first down onto one of the comfy beds in the nurse's office for a good night's rest.

However, he wouldn't have the chance to do that quite just yet..

Suddenly, he stopped his walk upon noticing something come along the road that was by the school's border, gasping in shock and his eyes widening as he did.

"No way.. Is that..?" He whispered in awe and surprise.

There was no mistaking it, what he saw travelling along the road was what appeared to be light. But that wasn't all, he also heard the distant noise of what sounded like... an engine? That could only mean one thing.. A wide grin slithered onto his lips, a surge of excitement waking him right back up. He may be crazy for getting upbeat considering that whoever is driving the upcoming vehicle could possibly be... well, a nutcase. But fortunately, his instincts this time around were telling him that that wouldn't be the case. He needed a closer and more visible look, so after digging into his left pant pocket to fish out his night vision monocular, he put it up to his left eye and watched the approaching vehicle carefully, his right hand coming up under his jacket to his holster. You know, just in case his instincts were wrong for once.

"Holy shit, is that an... armored bus?" He said in disbelief as he identified the transport, watching in amazement as the decked out vehicle came to a steady stop... right in front of the entrance to his base. "Oh shit.." He muttered to himself upon recovering from his shock, biting his lip nervously as he was now putting a lot of faith into his instincts, strongly hoping that they don't let him down. He crouched down behind the railing to make himself less noticable, but still kept an eye on the bus from inbetween the vertical bars.

He waited and observed in silence as the bus remained parked outside his place for the next few minutes, no one coming in or out of it. Sweat dripped down the sides of his face as the suspence was driving him mad, but he would continue to be patient for as long as he can. He grunted in disappointment as he couldn't see inside due to the metal plates that shielded the windows, very slim openings located along the center of each one. Even if they weren't there, he doubted he would be able to see still, seeing as the windows were well tinted.

The entrance/exit to the bus was on the side facing away from him, so unless someone steps out from around the mobile fortress, he wouldn't be able to make out any faces or figures.

After what felt like bloody ages, Takashi went stiff as he finally saw two figures move around the nose of the bus, both of them calmly approaching the locked gates.

Now, upon taking in the features of his two - potentially more - "visitors", he was immediately rendered breathless as both were most definitely female; drop dead gorgeous ones at that. He determined that these women were no one to mess with as strapped to the left side of their waists were what looked to be sheathed katanas, their right hands at the ready as they held onto the handles of their blades firmly. Even though they looked fucking dangerous, Takashi couldn't help but feel his heart race and his face flush upon absorbing the sight of such ravaging beauties. Luckily for him, that wouldn't be all there is as more beauty awaits him within that bus of theirs.

And little did he know, home was just now right around the corner... at long last.

A/N: And there's the prologue for you fine readers! I hope it was at least somewhat enjoyable. I know it isn't much in terms of actions, but I wanted to use this chance to explain Takashi's current day life and a little bit of his upbringing into the apocalypse, as well as a bit of information on the condition of this fic's world. There will be more to everything than what was said, so I assure you, that's not all. XD Okay, let's reply to some reviews, huh?

Review Responses!

Fire Dragon King: Glad you're sticking around!

Menydragon5: Oh lord, no. Lol I mean, for now, there will just be regular zombies, but I do plan to introduce some nasty surprises at certain points in the future. They won't exactly be monsters from RE, but close to them.

Angron: Yeah, I was saddened to hear about the author's passing and the manga won't be progressing any further. That's why I'm going on my own route when it comes to this series and writing something completely different.

Believe me, I was initally thinking of crossing over High School DxD along with Triage-X, but I thought that there's just be too much girls I love from there for me to choose from. I wouldn't be able to choose just a select few as I did intent to limit the harem. I didn't want to go too overboard with it. XD

lightning-187: I really hope it will be. Lol I'll try my best to make it as enjoyable as possible. Thanks for sticking around!

Lastly, a reminder of the harem!
