A Promise
"I-I'm s-s-so *Sob* sorry Kaa-chan, I d-didn't *Sob* mean to break i-it."
He opened his eyes to a scene that haunted him since that fateful day.
"I-I know N-Naru-c-chan, I-I know, just promise K-Kaa-chan one th-hing o-ok?"
His mother, lying in their supposed humble home, in a pool of her own crimson, vibrant blood.
"Mhmm!I p-promise *Sob* K-Kaa-chan!"
It was supposed to be his special day, their special day, they were supposed to celebrate his 9th birthday. But now he could only celebrate his mothers murder, the day he failed to uphold his promise, his promise to fill in for his father.
"Nar-ru-c-chan, I k-know you're gonna face a lot of pain-n and s-suffering, b-but! I w-want you to remember-r who-o y-you a-are! - Guh-rk - F-Find a g-goal, f-f-ind … your dream-m! A-And d-don't s-stop-p u-until it - Gahh - comes t-true!"
Was he still allowed to even dream? When it's always nightmares that cloud his restless mind every time he slept. When he only see's the life slowly draining from his mothers beautiful face, a face that he so dearly loved.
"Hai! K-Kaa-chan! I-I *Sob* P-PROMISE!, I-It's our-r *Sob* p-promise of a L-Lifetime!"
Not knowing which was worse, trapped in an everlasting nightmarish dream, the only place he could see his Kaa-chan, or remain awake to the distant echoes of her dying cries.

Thanks for reading the epilogue of my very first chapter, I pride myself in writing academic papers rather than the colorful fiction papers, but still, I tried to use as much as literary rules as I could remember, so if it isn't much of a problem, please do a review and point out my mistakes so I can hopefully apply it in the coming chapters.
