Chapter 8:

Immediately kicking into all medical training that Mr. Schue remembers, he picks up Rachel's limp wrist and feels for her pulse. It is there, but much more erratic than it usually would be.

As his skin touches her wrist, he recognizes the warmth once again radiating off of her skin; this time way worse than any time prior in the day. Sprinting to the thermometer for what feels like the hundredth time today, he grabs it and glides it across her clammy forehead. As he does this, he notices the pellets of sweat dripping on her brow. He nervously awaits the reading to appear.

Rachel is now slightly convulsing on the floor, indicating that her temperature is much higher than it should be. As the big numbers flash across the screen, Mr. Schue is in utter shock. 104.3 is what it reads.

Rachel begins to open her eyes, yet her conscious is elsewhere. Mr. Schue screams to Rachel "I need you to keep your eyes open, we have to go to the hospital!" but Rachels eyes shut the world out once more.

He puts one hand under Rachels back, and the other under the crease of the back of her knees. Picking the fragile girl up, she begins to aggressively shake once more in his arms.

Running out of the school, Mr. Schue runs to his car and opens his passenger car door with the finger he has free. He places the seat in a reclining position and places the delicate girl in a resting position; strapping her in with the seatbelt.

Running to the driver side, Mr. Schue cranks the heat on and feels helpless to the fact that he cannot help in any other way.

Luckily the hospital was close by, and Mr. Schue was able to get to the entrance in a matter of minutes. He runs inside screaming for help, as a doctor rushes a gurney to his car door.

The doctors don't allow Mr. Schue to go back with Rachel, not knowing the exact condition she is in. Impatiently, he paces in the waiting room, and informs Kurt to update the rest of the glee kids of what is going on over the phone.

All of the glee kids want to come and check on Rachel, but Mr. Schue tells them that they have to wait until she returns to school so she can fully recover.

Three whole hours pass until a doctor finally enters into the waiting area. "Guardian of Rachel Berry?" he questions.

Mr. Schue rises to his feet and questions "Oh my gosh is she ok? Please tell me everything is alright!"

"Rachel will be perfectly fine. Today took a lot out of her so she is still asleep, but she had the flu which lead to pneumonia." The doctor states. "We gave her an IV with fluids and she should recover within a few days. We would like to keep her overnight though, are you her parent?"

"No, I am her teacher" Mr. Schue explains. "But her parents are out of town for the week, and I am happy to look after her."

"Sounds good" says the doctor. "Here are some forms to fill out while you wait to go back and see Rachel."

Mr. Schue sits down and fills out the extensive paperwork for a few minutes, and then tries to get in contact with Rachel's dads. No one picks up the phone, so he knows Rachel will be his full responsibility until she is fully recovered. He goes back to finish the remainder of the paperwork, when he hears a loud shriek coming from the hospital rooms. It is a voice he knows all to well… Rachel's.

Authors note: Once again, another dramatic ending! I just posted this story this morning and it already has over one hundred views which is amazing! It doesn't have any reviews yet, and I cannot even explain how much I would appreciate if you could review this since I put a ton of effort into it! Thanks
