Brother personality switch AU. Gascon still doesn't have magic, but Marcassin does. In this, Gascon is polite and kind, while Marcassin is rude. It will have effect on the story.
"I want Gascon to help me learn magic!" prince Marcassin yelled.
Marcassin was one of the two Prince of Hamelin. He was the younger one. His dark blue hair was long and messy. If you asked anyone how was close to the royal family, they would say that Marcassin had temper and would often throw a tantrum. Nobody would dare say that he was spoiled, and honestly, he wasn't. He just got angry easily. Marcassin wasn't bad, he cared for his family more then anyone and was a smart and resalable child when nobody gave him a reason not too.
At the moment, however, he wasn't. Marcassin and his father had fallen into another argument. These arguments usual ended badly for both of them.
"Gascon doesn't have magic himself! He's not the best person to help you learn." His father argued.
Gascon, the eldest Prince, himself was sitting on the chair watching the argument. He did love to help his brother, but he knows that his father right. Unlike his brother, Gascon was soft spoken and never argued with anyone. His hair and eye colour match their father, brown hair and purple eyes. In these family arguments, he usually stays on the sidelines. He felt out of place to speak out in a conversation about magic, as he couldn't use it. Every other member of his family could, except for him. Instead, Gascon favourite his invention. He managed to convince his father to let him ticker with his invention, and was working on some real gems.
"I don't care! I want him to help me, no-one else!" Marcassin yells back.
"Marcassin you have to be reasonable. Your going to be the next great sage, Gascon can't help you there."
"Well maybe he could if you gave him a chance!"
"Marcassin, we are not having this conversation again."
"Why not?"
"This isn't about Gascon's inability to use magic. It's about you making him help you with something that's out of his skill set. You can't keep making him teach you something he can do. It's unfair."
"I'm not making him do anything! Gascon like helping me with magic! He like it! I'm not letting you take that away!" Marcassin yelled.
Marcassin frown and started to cry. Quickly he ran off, yet again. Gascon stood up and after spearing a quick glance at his father, chased after Marcassin. The Emperor sighed before sitting down. This was an usual outcome. Marcassin would get into grump and Gascon would have to calm him.
After an hour, the Emperor went to find his sons. By now, Gascon would of calm his brother down enough to talk to. It not like the Emperor wanted to wait, but if he did try and continued to talk with Marcassin, he would scream and cry.
Slowly, the Emperor walked down the halls to Marcassin room. From the outside, he could just about hear soft singing, Gascon way of sending Marcassin to sleep. This means that he won't be able to try a talk to Marcassin again. He couldn't tell is that was good or bad.
He slowly opened the door and walked in.
"Ssshhh." Gascon said, with a finder to his lips.
He was sitting on Marcassin's bed. Gascon was holding his baby brother in his arm. Marcassin was snuggled up and asleep. Gascon stood up and layed Marcassin on his bed. Once Marcassin was comfortable, he tucked him in. He got one of Marcassin's teddys and tucked it in. Marcassin slowly found it and hug it. Then, Gascon smiled and walked to his father.
"I just got him to sleep. We should let him rest." Gascon said.
"Alright. Let's go." The Emperor said.
The two walked into a room filled with ornaments. It had a large window and a white table and chairs. A maid had just finished setting up a tea set and some sandwiches and cake. It was common for the Emperor and his eldest son to have a small tea party once a week.
The Emperor enjoyed having tea with Gascon. With everything going on in the world with Shader and his argument with Marcassin, he needed to have time away from it all. Gascon was mature and he could hold serious conversation without argining. It was nice. A small part of him wanted Marcassin to be a bit more like Gascon. Not that he wanted his younger son to change! No, he just wanted not to get into an argument with him every day.
Gascon did love these tea parties. It gave his father time to relax and spend time with him. They didn't get much time to spend with eachother. Gascon spare time was spilt between helping his brother and his invention.
"What am I going to do with him, Gascon?" The Emperor said as he drank his tea.
"I... I'm not sure. I don't exactly have experience in this. I'm just happy to be able to help in a small way."
"I know. I'm thankful that I have you to be able to calm him. I am grateful for you."
"Thank you."
"Your welcome. Your going to make a great Emperor." His father said.
Gascon stopped and looked at his tea. It was always in the air about who would inherited the throne. The people like Gascon and a good amount admired his ability with mechanics. He was even good with a sword! It was just the problem was his lack of magic. Law's stated that only a great sage could inherited the throne. This mean that legally, Marcassin should inherited it, and most people were okay with that.
"You really think so?"
"Of course. Dispite your lake of magic, you are smart. I may have only your earliest designs, but they are still good. I'm interested in what else you have come up with."
"I haven't finished my prototype yet. It still has some bugs."
"Never the less, I'm sure it will be great."
"I... I worry..."
"About what?"
"Pretty much everything. I worry about Marcassin. That by me helping him with magic, he won't get to his full potential. That I won't be good enough. That my invention will fail. That I won't be strong enough to help... to look after everyone."
"I understand your concerns. I remember having the same fears when I was young. Trust me, your going fine. At your age, I was far to invested in magic that I could barely hold a sword. My father had to ban me form magic practice just so I would pay attention to my sword fighting lessons."
"Really?" Gascon said gigging.
It was rair for Gascon to hear about his grandparents. Both had die in and attack form Shadar when Gascon was young. He had a few small memory about his grandfather. He was pridefully, yet polite. His grandmother, was almost as loving as his mother.
The conversation continued. They talked about the up coming ball, Gascon's lesson and the Emperor's work. It must of continue for at least an hour. It came to an end when Marcassin quietly walk in. He was holding a teddy close to his chest. Marcassin walk to Gascon, who picked up him up and held him like a doll.
"Hey, Marcassin. Had a good nap?" Gascon said softly, petting his head.
Marcassin nodded.
"Want a sandwich?" Gascon ask.
Marcassin nodded again.
Gascon smiled and past him a ham sandwich. Slowly, Marcassin started to eat. He rested his head on Gascon.
"I think someone still tried." The Emperor said in a smile.
"I'm not tried."
"Brother, are you sure?"
"I'm not tried!"
"Okay, okay." Gascon said.
Marcassin look at his brother, and stuck his tongue out. Gascon laughed and snorted at his baby brother, before hugging him close. Marcassin growled.
"My baby brother." He said happily.
"Gascon, your squeezing me!"
