Goliath and Elisa told Liam that night, and while he wasn't completely enthusiastic about it, he didn't seem to hate the idea.

He did seem a little down though.

"Hey," Elisa said, kneeling down to meet his eyes. "What's going on in that big brain of yours?"

"Are you going to love the baby more than me?" He asked, not meeting her eyes.

"What?" Elisa gasped. "No, of course not. Why would you be worried about that?"

"Because I'm not really yours," He blurted out.

"Excuse me," Elisa said sternly. "Who said that you're not mine?"

"Mom," He said on a groan. "I know that you're not my real mom…"

"Hey," Elisa reached out and took hold of his chin, gently guiding him to meet her eyes. "You were mine the minute I first held you. There was never a time when I have EVER looked at you and saw you as anything other than my son. We love you." Elisa said firmly. "Have we ever given you a reason to think that we don't?"

Liam shook his head, tears filling his eyes.

"Oh, Liam," Elisa gathered him close. "You are my son. OUR son," She said, holding a hand out to Goliath. "And you always will be." She leaned back. "We were the ones who took care of you when you were sick. We both paced the floors at night when you were teething. We are the ones who worry about you when you aren't with us. Hey," She wipes at a stray tear on his cheek, "We changed your diapers."

"Eww," Liam said, swiping at his face with his arm, "Moooom."

"What? It's the truth," Elisa said with a grin.

"Liam," Goliath said, kneeling beside Elisa. "Do you know the meaning of the word, Clan?"

Liam nodded slowly. "It means, family."

Goliath nodded. "Yes. Family is created by more than blood. Family is a bond that you share with those around you. With the exception of Angela and I, no one in my clan are related by blood, but each of us would die to protect one another. You," he pointed to the center of Liam's chest, "Are more than our son. You are a member of the clan. You have brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles, grandparents and," He took Elisa's hand in his, "You have parents who love you very much."

Liam flung himself at them, one arm around each of them and held on tight. Elisa closed her eyes tightly, and held on to her little family.

"Mom," He said softly, "I'm sorry I said that you weren't my real mom."

Elisa gave a small laugh. "Thank you."

They were quiet for a moment, then, "Mom?"

"Yes?" Elisa asked, leaning back to see his face.

Liam's face broke into a grin, "Am I going to have a brother or sister?"
