Once Maria got the call, she jumped into action. She closed her door, locking it and sending glares at anyone who dared look like they were even thinking of bothering her.
She called Goliath first, through the use of the small, white, clan and friends-of-the-clan only communicators. Not only did he respond, but the whole clan sounded as if they were converging on the castle as well.
Maria checked the time. They may have already been on their way back to the castle, she thought, being so close to sunrise.
Next, she called Peter Maza and let Elisa's parents know that Elisa was on her way to the aerie building. While Maria didn't have a lot of details, what she did have didn't sound good.
Finally, knowing that the Mazas would round up everyone on their own, Maria called in Captain Miles, the daytime Captain, and asked him to come in early.
He didn't sound happy, but she'd plead a family emergency…which she hadn't done since her last remaining parent had passed about ten years ago. In the end, he agreed, and promised to be there within the next half hour to take over.
Maria hung up the phone and closed her eyes. Taking a deep breath, all she could do was wait for either the daytime captain to come, or for her phone to ring with news.
