Years have passed, many years. Steven and Connie were married, living a happy life together, everything was calm. Stevonnie became more present, growing as much as Steven and Connie did. Soon Connie was pregnant and the two were getting ready for their baby.
"Steven, do you think they'll have powers?" Connie asked as she stood on a stool, hanging the mobile the two of them made for their soon-to-be child.
"Who knows," Steven answered as he was painting the walls. "They're going to be great though, that's for sure." He reassured her with a grin as he looked back at his wife.
"Yeah." Connie smiled looking down at her plump belly. "We still need to come up with names for them, we don't know if they're going to be a girl or a boy yet!" She told him stepping down and standing beside Steven looking at the painting he was doing.
"Well, we still have five months, that's plenty of time to think of names. I'm still on Steven or Connie Junior." He told her hugging around her belly, feeling her rub her fingers through his hair.
"Stop joking Steven." Connie laughed as they both looked at the painting of Beach City with all of their friends there. She glanced down seeing Steven with a soft smile as he stares at the painting. "Well, Beach City is only a Lion ride away. We can go visit them." She suggested as Steven sat up.
"Yeah, it has been a while, they haven't even seen you pregnant yet. I'm sure Garnet can see us visiting soon." Steven chuckled wiping a tear from his eye. He did miss them, they were family. All of them. Even the Diamonds. "I'm going to paint homeworld too, they're still family," Steven told her, changing the subject as he started putting away his art supplies.
Connie kissed his cheek. "We can head to Beach City now. I may have made plans for all of our friends to be there at Beach City." She hummed as Steven's eyes widened as he looked over at her.
"Wait, you managed to get everyone together in Beach City!?" Steven exclaimed with stars in his eyes. He quickly stood up, grabbing his coat. "Then let's go!" He exclaimed putting on his jacket, making Connie giggle as she got her stuff together.
The two went to their background where Lion was already waiting for them, grooming his fur before looking over at the married couple. "Hey, boy. To Beach City, okay?" Steven said scratching under Lion's chin as the Lion licked his face making him chuckle.
He helped Connie up onto Lion before getting on behind her. They held on as Lion roared a portal and jumped through, landing on the beach in front of Steven's old home.
Steven could already feel the memories flood back to him as he jumped off of Lion and helped Connie down. He felt his phone vibrate making him take out his phone seeing it was from his father, making him answer with a smile. "Hey, Dad!" He told Greg as they headed up the stairs.
"Hey, Shtuball. Just called to see how you and Connie been, and the baby. Can't forget about that." He heard his father chuckle as Connie covered her mouth, hiding a laugh as they made it up to the door.
"Yeah, we've been doing fine. Hey, we have something for you and the gems. It should be here now at the door." He said holding his phone away to cover his mouth to muffle some laughter, before putting the phone back to his ear.
"Really? I'll see if it arrived. You should've called sooner, if it's fragile or can get wet the rain could- Steven!" Greg shouted as they saw him head down the stairs and seeing them.
"Dad!" Steven grinned as he entered the house just in time to be hugged by his father.
"Schtuball, look at you! Connie! Both of you look great! This is a surprise, why didn't you warn me you'd be visiting." He told them standing back to look at the two of them.
"It was a last-minute decision to visit, and here we are! Where are the gems?" Steven asked seeing how almost nothing has changed since the last time they visited.
"Uh, They should still be at Little Homeworld, but they should be back-" Greg told them before being cut off by a gasp behind them.
The couple looked behind them seeing the gems, Pearl covering her mouth, Garnet being still faced and Amethyst grinning. "Hey, you guys!" Amethyst said hurrying over and hugging them. "Man, you've changed. Not!" Amethyst grinned stepping back letting the others step into the house as Steven laughed.
"Nice seeing you too, Amethyst," Steven said before looking over at Pearl and Garnet. "Hey, Garnet, Pearl. How've you guys been?" He asked seeing Pearl tear up.
"Oh, Steven!" Pearl cried out hugging Steven as Garnet placed a hand on his shoulder, giving him a small smile.
After all the tears and hugging, mostly by Pearl, they were seated on the couch, catching up. "So, how long, until they're born?" Pearl asked sitting next to Connie looking down at her stomach with a smile.
"About five months," Connie told her, resting her hand on her plump belly.
"I'm so happy for you two! We should have one of those baby parties!" Pearl suggested to them clapping her hands together.
"It's called a baby shower, Pearl," Steven told her as he felt happy being around his family again. "We have to see Peridot, Lapis, and Bismuth! I'm sure they'll be ecstatic to see us too, Connie." He said looking over at Connie.
"How about you go ahead, I'll catch up." Connie smiled, knowing how excited Steven was to see his friends, knowing she would slow them down. Plus she had some calls to make, telling them about their arrival.
Steven headed out, heading to Little Homeworld. He could've used the teleporter, but he wanted to see what has changed since he last been there. The buildings long since restored since his, pink outbursts. He didn't want to think about it, this was a time to be happy, not get anxiety about the damage he done years ago.
Taking a deep breath and remembering what his therapist told him, he calmed down and smiled when he saw Bismuth's Forge. He headed over and peaked in seeing Bismuth teaching a class as Yellow Pearl was being her model again. Yellow Pearl really did like being a model and he couldn't help but smile about that. "Hey, Bismuth." Steven interrupted making Bismuth look over with a gasp.
"Why, Steven Universe, what's your Bismuth doing here?" She asked obviously happy to see him as he walked in. Steven noticed her anvil was replaced and that the original Crystal Gem Flag was hanging on the wall.
"Just visiting with Connie. It's great seeing you again." He smiled as she walked over and gave him a bear hug.
"I can say the same, you're looking nice, 'little' man." She chuckled letting Steven go as he rubbed the back of his neck. Steven has grown again, he was now about Bismuth's height, a little brawny, and still just as curly hair that went down to his neck.
"Have you seen Lapis and Peridot?" He asked her making her nod.
"Yeah, doing their jobs, Peridot in the Greenhouse and Lapis making art. I'll come by later, I still have some Bismuth to do." She chuckled as Steven grinned.
"Yeah, Connie would like that, thanks Bismuth! Sorry for interrupting." He told the gems in her class before heading out to the greenhouse to see Peridot next.
He could see the greenhouse get closer and bigger as he walked over, it got an expansion since last time, he peaked in through the glass seeing Peridot holding a potted plant, talking to other gems about it most likely.
He knocked on the glass as he entered the greenhouse seeing Peridot look over and gasp. "Steven!" She exclaimed throwing the pot in the air and running towards him as another gem caught the pot. Peridot jumped and hugged him with tears in her eyes.
Steven hugged back with a smile. "Hey, Peridot, how's it hanging?" He grinned as she jumped back, her still wearing the shirt he gave her.
"I'm hanging fine! Steven, you came back! Welcome back!" Peridot told him wiping her eyes after taking off her visor. "We must hang out after I am finished! I have limited time, in class!" She said struggling to push him out.
"Okay, okay. How about visiting my old home, everyone else will be there." He told her as she agreed and asked him to lav once more, but she was smiling as he left and waved, her waving back.
"Okay, now all there is, is Lapis," Steven told himself as he started looking for the gem. He didn't have to look for her at all as Lapis flew down in front of him.
"Steven!" She said smiling at him as she had her wings back into her gem.
"Lapis, how are you?" Steven asked her smiling back and hugging her.
"Good, good, hey I have a new piece I want to show you." She said flying up behind him and lifting him up.
"Woah, Woah, Lapis. Wait a minute!" Steven said as Lapis flew up with Steven in her arms as they made it to her art gallery. He looked around since he never saw this place before, she had so many pieces of art everywhere. "Wow, this is amazing! When did you get your own art gallery?" He asked her looking over at the gem as she smiled.
"It's new, I got my pieces moved here last year. It's attached to my new room under it." She said showing him down to where her room was. "How have you been? You must have done something these four, three years." Lapis told him making him feel a bit guilty for not visiting more since marrying Connie and moving into a place of their own.
"Yeah, I've been good. Actually, I had something to tell you back at the temple. Peridot and Bismuth are going there after their class." Steven told her.
"I'm not good with surprises, Steven, but okay I'll meet you at the temple." She smiled showing him the way out instead of flying out.
Steven nodded stepping out but stopped, turning back. "Has there been any more trouble with, um you know who?" He asked not knowing if she and Jasper had interacted more or not.
Lapis shook her head, "Not anything as big as your meltdown." She joked making Steven smile nervously. "Sorry." She said making Steven tell her it's alright. "No, Jasper has had her tempers, we got her to stop making her own entrances in every building she enters. You should talk to her if you want to know how she is." She told him making Steven look away.
"Yeah, I should. Is she still calling me 'my diamond'?" He asked making her nod. He sighed as he still had to get used to that even though she reminds her not to call him that, but some people are harder to change.
Heading off, he took out his phone, texting Connie to see if she's alright or not. 'Connie, you alright?' He texted her as he rounded the corner and almost jumping when Jasper made an appearance. "Hey, Jasper." He told her, pocketing his phone as she just hummed.
"Why are you back?" She asked with her arms crossed. It was her way of greeting him without being gushy and huggy like certain gems were.
"I'm here, just visiting with Connie.." He said as he felt a little awkward with Jasper. He then noticed a flower in Jasper's hair. "I see you're getting into nature." He pointed out making her tense.
She quickly took out the flower in her hair, crushing it. "No, I'm not." She replied making Steven sweat-drop.
She obviously found some interests in Earth, but she was too stubborn to admit it. "Well, okay. I'm going to head back to the temple. You can always stop by you know." He told her making her tsk.
"Whatever. I don't need the company of those gems." She told him, still having some grudges against them, well most of them.
"Well, It was nice seeing you, Jasper. I just wanted to say I'm going to have a child soon, I'm excited for it." He grinned ather making her roll her eyes.
"Why would I care about a child?" She answered walking off, before stopping. "Congrats though." She muttered not looking back before she was gone.
"That was easier than expected." Steven muttered as he headed back to the temple, taking out his phone once feeling it vibrate and seeing Connie's text.
'Why wouldn't I be alright, Steven? Anyway, Lapis just showed up at the temple with Bismuth and Peridot. Get over here before Pearl tells the not-so-surprise surprise.' Connie texted back.
"Then I have to hurry back!" Steven said before he started running back to the temple. He got there quickly and grinned as he entered the temple. "I'm back!" He said happy to see the other three gems here now, just like how Connie told him. "I'm going to be a parent!" He told them with a big grin on his face.
The shock on the other's faces were worth it before they started congradulating him and Connie. Peridot, asking where the baby is and Connie explaining where the baby is. Everything went as planned for him and he was so excited for the future.
