Another busy day at work. It still felt surreal to Kotarou that he had a part-time job. He works as a waiter for a restaurant that's popular with high schoolers! There are two floors which are often full. Having more employees was always something the owner wanted. Imagine having a restaurant so popular with very few employees, it'd be a living hell! Kotarou came at the perfect time, even if he didn't work on the day of the quick interview, it gave the other employees a glimmer of hope that there could be more employees on the way!
Kotarou worked Mondays through Fridays, three hours a day. Even if the job that wasn't hard at all, it still drained most of his energy by the time his shift ended. He had to deal with a few cranky customers in their 30s during his first week! Kotarou would always try his best to apologize (even if it wasn't his fault) but his co-workers always managed to step in and defend him! At one point, it got so out of hand that his boss had to come out and kick out the customer causing trouble! Attending school and working on the same day would frustrate a high schooler at the start, but once you keep doing it for a while, you'll start getting used to it and consider it as part of your daily routine! The reason for the job was to of course earn more money, but greed wasn't the main motive for the job. Even if the money could be used to buy items for his hobbies or personal needs, there was someone much more important than those things. It was all for Akane Mizuno, his first and most likely his last love.
They first started dating during their third year of middle school. The day when their classmates found out about their relationship, everyone started gossiping. It was such an expected pairing at the time! Akane and Kotarou were basically from two different worlds! Akane was part of the school's track team while Kotarou was part of the literature club! The only person who had a clue about their relationship was one of Kotarou's friends and Akane's older sister! They both had their ups and downs in the relationship, but it didn't change the fact that they both loved each other very dearly. Unfortunately, Akane had to move to Chiba because his father had to move to Chiba for his job. This made things complicated between the two but they decided to have a long-distance relationship in the end. Both of their parents have yet to find out about their romantic relationship. The couple does plan on telling their parents in the future, but only when the time was right.
Going back to the present, Kotarou arrives home after finishing his shift for the day. He takes off his shoes, leaves them by the door, and finds his parents eating in the dining room. He joins his parents for dinner. Upon finishing, he makes his way to his bedroom to drop off his stuff and takes a shower before working on his chapter for his story from the novel board. An hour passes and he decides to call it a day. It was around 11 PM by the time Kotarou finished. He lies down on the bed and takes out his phone to text Akane from the Line application.
Kotarou: You awake?
He waits for a few seconds after sending the message. Hoping for his girlfriend to still be awake. Thankfully, she was indeed awake during this hour as well.
Akane: Yup!
Kotarou: Why are you awake!?
Akane: I just finished studying! What about you?
Kotarou: haha I just finished working on my story! I'm going to post it tomorrow.
Akane: Really? I'm looking forward to it!
Kotarou: Thank you :)
Every time Akane shares her excitement to him, Kotarou always smiles like an idiot. He was so grateful for having such a supportive girlfriend!
Kotarou: How was your day?
Akane: Tedious. The teachers in Chiba are so strict with tests here -_-
Koutarou: Are they?
Akane: Indeed, as much as really want you here, you saved yourself with these tests. It's brutal here :'(
Koutarou: Yikes, I still miss you though :'(
Akane: Noo, I miss you more!
Koutarou: No no no, I MISS YOU MORE!
Akane: How many times do I have to tell you... I MISS YOU MORE!
Kotarou and Akane tend to sound like different people once they communicate via Line. In real life, they're not as hyper when communicating. They're instead shy and sometimes quiet around each other but can you blame them? They have been dating for at least a year! Keep in mind that they're still growing, so there's still a lot more to learn about regarding romantic relationships. The young couple continues debating about who misses who the most for a little while until they change topics and talk about random things. Once they grow tired, they start saying good night but they start their little debate again.
Akane: I'm going to sleep

Akane: Night love ;)
Their conversation finally ends with a sweet departure for the night! Kotarou never has to worry about his day being ruined anymore. Despite all of the bad things that occur in any of his days, Akane's messages always cheer him up. No matter how far you are from your lover, love will never fade away. As long as you both trust and remain loyal to each other, you can maintain the relationship for as long as you both want! If long enough, it may result in marriage!
