Monday.

After going through the effort of getting another tray for his breakfast, Jaune took his time to finish eating while his friends went ahead to class.

About one or two minutes late for Grimm Studies, he was content with the fact that he would not go hungry until lunch.

Well, not that content, really. He was still puzzled by what happened earlier.

Him switching Teams with Ruby? Sure, why not?

It's not like that would result in an overwhelming experience that could tear apart the bonds of their small group of friends.

No, sir.

Trust issues were now on an all-time-high, considering some of the recent developments they just went through.

Well, he guessed he would have to fix that soon enough.

Where there's a will, there's a way. Specifically, the doorway to Port's classroom.

He opened only to find everyone already in their seats.

"Oh, welcome, Mr. Arc." Said the Professor himself, standing by the board.

"We were just about to begin. Go ahead and take a seat with your Team. We will be again reviewing the Beringel's anatomy today."

The students just groaned collectively as Jaune made his way to his Team.

Soon enough, he spotted Pyrrha and the others sitting at the bottom row of the class.

Walking down the stairs, he turned to take his seat…

…Only to find Ruby sitting there already.

"Oh, hey Jaune." She waved at him.

"Hey Ruby…" He responded.

Both were staring at one another in silence as if one of them had forgot something.

Suddenly, she started pointing at something behind his back. Unfortunately, he was unable to get the message.

Port Harrumphed. "Mr. Arc. Could you please sit next by your Team? You can share notes with Miss Rose later."

Oh.

He glanced around only to find his new Team sitting at the other side of the room.

'I guess the exchange is already in effect.' Jaune realized in his mind.

He turned around and travelled towards to his correct seat, while soaking on the silent awkwardness that was traversing in an already filled but quiet classroom.

'It's high school all over again.'

Port already begun displaying his Grimm sketches on the board by the time Jaune finally sat down.

Right next to Weiss.

He decided to explain himself better this time. "So, about earlier…"

"Can it." She ordered without taking her eyes away from her notebook.

"Okay…"

Well, so much for that.

Port's class once again took a toll on everyone's sleeping schedule.

The Professor went on a long story about how he once took out a winged Beringel about 80 kilometers from the ground with nothing but a kitchen knife with a tiny bipod on it, for some reason.

By the time classes ended, students went back to the mess hall for some well-deserved lunch.

Ruby was excited to go over some of her plans for all of them during this week.

However, after sitting down on a table with her new Team, she noticed the entirety of JWBY to be missing.

"Where did everyone go?" She asked. "I just saw them getting their food."

Pyrrha was the first to answer. "I just saw Blake leaving for the campus a while ago. I think it's safe to assume they all need some time get used to this."

That just made Ruby feel a little sad. She wasn't planning for everyone to go out on their separate ways just like that.

At least not this early in the afternoon. Blake was most likely to do it, but not all of them at once.

"If it makes you feel any better, I'm sure they'll all be at Goodwitch's class later on." Pyrrha said.

"I'm fine, really. It's good to see that you're all still ok with this." Ruby reassured.

"It's okay, girl." Nora lifted out her arms as she laid the back of her head on her hands. "We are known to be the most chillax Team of all time. Take me for an example: I always see the cup completely filled."

"Uhm…" Ren turned to his partner. "Isn't 'half full' the correct term?"

"Not if you cut the glass in half." Nora quickly responded.

"I see…" Said Ruby. "Well, in any case, it would be great if we started sharing some strategies for the week."

Pyrrha smiled at their Leader's new found confidence. "We promise to be with you all throughout the way." She only hoped Jaune would get the same treatment.

"Awesome!" Ruby exclaimed. "Well, let's get started! First things first, what you all say about sleeping arrangements?"

The remaining of RNPR let out a bunch of confused faces as soon as she said that.

"Come again?" Nora questioned.

Weiss watched from afar as Ruby wailed around the table while talking to her new Team.

'She probably suits them better, anyway.'

The heiress sat at the corner of an already occupied table where a wall of students obstructed RNPR's vision of her.

Even if she couldn't see them properly, she could still hear the commotion of her former Leader.

Leader…

'Wasn't I good enough for the role?'

Well, good riddance! For once, Weiss was actually able to concentrate on Grimm Studies without her bumbling Leader pestering her with childish drawings.

The last one in recent memory was of Port wearing a bullet belt over his shoulder while carrying a chain-minigun.

True to his word, Jaune actually stood quiet during the whole lesson, and even took actual notes instead of bothering her for some.

Not that she was any happier with him running her Team all of the sudden.

In no way, shape or form does he hold any authority of her or her teammates. It was due to some oversight that he was granted the role of a Leader to begin with.

'I mean, with fake transcripts and all…'

No. She was over this. They all were.

Maybe she had to get used to him just like she got used to Ruby.

Or at least make sure 'Prince Charming' didn't get stuck in a tree or something on the way there.

He tends to do that.

After finishing eating his plate of pasta while sitting on the floor of one of the hallways, Jaune followed his schedule and went to Combat Class.

As the other students started to join in, Jaune took his seat at the bleachers.

Soon enough, he spotted RNPR sitting by the other side of the arena.

After reciprocating yet another wave by Ruby, he felt Yang dropping on the seat right next to him, showing as much enthusiasm as the other two girls on his Team that came right after.

"I don't know about y'all…" Yang stretched on her seat. "But I sure hope Glynda lets me pick a target today."

"…Don't you mean an opponent?" Jaune asked.

"Depends on who's asking." She retorted.

"It depends on who she picks, actually." Blake said while picking up her book.

The sound of heavy stilts echoed around the room, signaling for everyone to shut up.

"It should come to everyone's attention today that some of the students here are partaking in a Team Exchange Program." Glynda said out loud for everyone to hear. "This means that we might be experiencing different pairings today, due to our policy of not allowing students from same Teams to spar against one another."

Jaune felt immensely relieved. That meant that the girls weren't going to be able to take out their frustrations on him. Goodness knows that they usually held back when fighting him…

…Which really didn't stop them from wiping the floor with his hoodie.

Goodwitch then announced the first fight. She picked Russel from Team CRDL and put him against one of the shadow-looking students.

Seriously, there was a lot of them. Was he the only one who actually noticed that?

A few hours later after watching sparring matches and taking notes from Goodwitch, the last few candidates were chosen.

"Lie Ren against Jaune Arc" Glynda announced. "Gear up and meet me at the arena as soon as you can."

Huh? That was certainly new.

It didn't occur to Jaune that he might had to face someone from his previous Team. Ren of all people.

Knowing his luck, he would've gotten either Pyrrha, who would've gone too easy on him and dragged the fight to a crawl, or Nora, who still really wanted to test out the limits of his Aura to a bone-breaking point.

Ren was more of a wild-card in that department, which is ironic considering that he is the opposite of a wild-card.

Jaune stood up so he could go to the locker room.

"Hey." Yang called for him. "Break a leg."

"O-Oh." He was surprised. "Thanks, Yang."

"Seriously, I mean it." She reaffirmed.

"…Oh." Jaune got the hint. And with that, he made his leave.

About a minute later at the arena, Jaune faced his only male companion in that environment. They still had some time before Glynda announced the fight.

"I don't think we ever fought before." Jaune recalled to his friend.

"I concur. But for what is worth, I don't plan on holding back." Ren took his stance.

Jaune unsheathed his sword. "It's alright man. Bring it all you got."

Goodwitch then took her cue. "Begin!"

And bringing all he had he did.

After taking a shower and putting on their PJs, the two boys went on their way to their dorm room for a good night of sleep.

Upon reaching the dormitories, they started talking.

"So, that was an interesting move you did back there." Jaune stated.

"Hmm?" Ren turned to him. "Which one?"

"The one where you did that thing with your palm that almost made me fly off the ring." Jaune said.

"My palm thrust?" Ren recollected. "That's one of the techniques I've come to develop through extensive meditation. Once you realize the true extension of your Aura, you can exhort it through your body however you may intend to. It's mostly useful when fighting Grimm, since they're predictable… Oh, no offense."

"None taken, really. I'm not as acrobatic as I lead people to believe it." He joked.

"You may not be as versatile as you intend to be, but you make up for it with sheer endurance." Ren said.

"Thanks man. You totally deserved that win though." Jaune reinstated. "Still, it's kinda strange that we are all training to hunt monsters, but we do end up fighting each other most of the time."

Ren's look fixated at the end of the hallway. "If there's one thing I learned is that not all of the monsters we will be fighting are bound to be Grimm. There will be bandits, terrorists even. Maybe something we have never faced before. Not everyone that unlocks their Aura plans on becoming a Huntsman to begin with."

"Wow, man. I feel you…" That conversation took a dark turn all of the sudden. Jaune looked around for something to distract them from it. Such as- "Oh, look, there's our dorm."

"Hm." His friend hummed.

As Ren was closer to the door, he scanned his scroll to allow both of them to enter. While walking in, he felt like he was forgetting to tell Jaune something.

As soon as Jaune attempt to enter his dorm…

"HOLD UP!" Ruby jumped right out of the room to his face. "Where do you think you're going?"

'Oh. That.' Ren thought.

"Uhm…" Jaune was confused by that outburst. "To my room? Actually, Ruby, what are you doing in my room?"

"Nope!" She denied. "This is RNPR's room. And last time I checked, there wasn't a 'J' on it."

"…Yeah, this whole thing with our initials sure isn't gonna get old." Said Jaune sarcastically.

"I agree." Said Ruby. "Anyway, go on and scan your scroll on the door."

Jaune did just that. The following displayed on his scroll.

RNPR_room – "Access Denied";

"See?" Ruby affirmed. "As per part of the program, we also have to exchange dorm rooms for the week."

"…Do we?" Jaune questioned.

"Yup!" There was actually an optional checkbox on that form that Ruby didn't need to sign. She did it anyway because she wanted the 'full experience'.

The girl perked up. "Your new room is riiight… There." She pointed for the door opposite to the one they were standing.

Jaune gave a good look at the door she was pointing at.

"Ruby, I can't just sleep in there." He stated.

"Well, why not?" She genuinely asked.

He would have to spell that out for her. "Because I can't just barge in a room full of girls and sleep there like it's nothing."

That was one of the reasons why he couldn't go in there. The second one was that they were probably still angry at him.

"But you already sleep with Nora and Pyrrha on the same room. And you constantly brag about how you lived with seven sisters." Ruby refuted.

"That doesn't mean they'll let me in just like that." Jaune argued.

"You'll be fine. Trust me." Ruby reached for something behind the door. "Here!"

She then gave him a plastic bag with presumably his stuff. "I packed all of the essentials."

Jaune took the bag and gave a good look at it. "Ruby, there's like two bedsheets and a toothbrush in here."

"Yup! The essentials. Have a good night, Jaune." She slammed the door to his face.

Welp. She sure was assertive for someone that claimed to be so shy.

Turning one-eighty degrees, he saw what could be the biggest challenge he had ever faced during all these months at Beacon.

Taking very slow steps towards that door, he pondered if he should knock it first or go straight for the scanner.

'If what Ruby says is true, then my scroll should unlock that door without too much trouble.'

He carefully planned his course of action. Once he was inside, he would calmly explain the situation and apologize in case he accidentally stumbled on them changing or something, then he would set for sleeping on their couch.

If they had a couch, that was.

Reaching for his device, he brought it almost near the handle so he could get the door opened.

Any second now…

"You know what? I think I'm gonna sleep on the roof tonight." He said out loud for himself. That was the easiest decision of his life.

Just as he was about to leave, the door suddenly opened on him. Lights on and all.

"VB? Is that you?" Yang rubbed her eyes as she stood at the doorway wearing her sleeping clothes. "Have you seen my sister? We're still waiting for her to arrive so we can go to sleep."

She seemed calmer than she was earlier that day. Unfortunately, he wasn't going to be able to sugar coat this.

"Well, it's kinda funny, you see…" Jaune explained, rubbing his hair. "Ruby just locked herself with my Team- I mean, with her Team, now that is, for the night. You know, because of the program and all. And she demanded that I sleep… There... In your room."

Yang slowly blinked, processing most of his ramble. She gave him a small chuckle afterwards.

"Well, at least you have an excuse to have gotten yourself locked outside of your room now." She teased.

Jaune felt embarrassed. "…That was only one time."

The two blonds stood there in silent. Jaune was still waiting for the inevitable boot that was to come.

"So… Are you gonna come in?" She spoke.

'…Huh?'

"…Wait, really?" He asked, confused and all.

"Uhm… Yeah. I mean, where else were you planning to sleep, on the roof?" Yang joked.

"That would be plan A, yes." He responded.

"Don't be silly. Here, suit yourself." Yang stepped aside to allow Jaune to enter. "I'll even give you a tour."

Holding the plastic bag with both hands, he walked inside the room. Yang gently closed the door soon after.

The first thing he came across was the makeshift bunkbeds the girls had made earlier that year, with each of the other girls already on their beds.

Blake was sitting while still reading her novel. She quickly took a glance at him for about a second and then proceeded to turn a page.

'I was afraid Ruby would check that box.' She thought.

On the other side, he spotted Weiss already sleeping. Or at least pretending to sleep, as she was facing away from him. She probably still had mixed feelings about this whole ordeal.

He gave another look around the room.

'Darn. No couch.'

Yang came up to him. "So, there's the closet, you can put your stuff in there for the time being. There's also the bathroom, make sure to not touch my products. And to top it all off, you can sleep on Ruby's bed!"

Jaune winced a little. "A-Are you sure it's okay for me to sleep on her bed?"

"Sure. Why not?" Said Yang. "She is probably sleeping on yours at this exact moment."

He didn't know how to feel about that, to be honest. Uncertain as he was, he examined the bed.

It was cartoonishly being held by many strings of rope that were tied to the ceiling. It also had a white bedsheet serving as a small tent, which was a nice touch, he guessed. But still…

"Is that thing even safe?" He questioned.

"'Course it is… I think? Worst case scenario, you'll crush Weiss." Yang said.

Jaune winced once again. This time he also noticed Weiss wincing on her bed right after Yang said that.

Yang laughed. "I'm joking, man. That bed is sturdy as the laws of physics allows it to be. We mounted it ourselves, you know."

"In a span of four seconds." Blake said as she turned another page.

Jaune looked at Yang as if he was still waiting for the punchline of an elaborated prank.

Yang noticed. "Is something on your mind, Jaune?"

"…I'm just surprised. You're taking this really well." He confessed.

"Oh, It's nothing, really. I just figured that you were familiar with the rules." Yang said.

"Which are…?"

"Do something we don't like and we will break your teeth." She stated while gently smiling.

That somehow made him feel more like at home than when he was living with his original Team.

Yang then crossed her arms. "Anyway, I would like to apologize for how I was acting today. This whole thing just came out of nowhere, and I was quickly to blame you, as usual. I figured it would be better for everyone if we made the best out of this situation."

"Just like what Ruby would want. Thanks Yang." Jaune felt better.

"No problem. At least I got something out of this, you know." She grinned. "I recorded that spar between you and Ren. I got the best angle for when he dropkicked your head."

And just like that, the moment was gone.

"…We should probably go get some sleep." Jaune declared.

"Right away, Leader." She teased while climbing her bunk.

Jaune also turned to climb his/Ruby's bed while trying to not bother Weiss. Blake closed her book and went to turn off the lights.

"Good night, everyone." Yang said as she covered herself.

Jaune laid on the bed as he was thinking what would be the next step.

Once classes were finished, they would start taking their first field missions as a Team. The same applied to Ruby and the others.

'One day down. Many to go.'
