Three weeks later...
Nessie had recently left her job at Stanley's diner and had been working as a receptionist at "Black's Auto Garage" for a week now. At first it had been a little awkward with Paul there, considering they had gone on a date before her and Jacob got serious, but after talking to him they decided to put the past behind them and remain friends, which Nessie was thankful for.
And it was during the last three weeks that Nessie and Jacob had officially become an "item". Nessie had been ecstatic when Jacob had asked her to be his girlfriend suddenly one evening while they chilled at his home in La Push. Of course, she didn't have to think twice, hastily agreeing before pouncing on to him playfully, peppering his face with kisses.
Nessie had even told her parents; Carlisle and Esme about Jacob, and although her dad wasn't completely happy that his baby girl had a boyfriend he could tell by Nessie's tone of voice that Jacob made her happy. And her mother demanded pictures of the pair almost instantly, which caused Nessie to laugh, before she emailed a few selfies she and Jacob had taken recently.
Nessie had been slowly getting ready for her shift this morning at Jacob's garage when she suddenly felt sick to her stomach, not able to push the feeling aside, she dashed to the toilet emptying out the contents of her stomach. After waiting a few minutes to see if she were to be sick again Nessie pulled the flush of the toilet, getting up slowly, she rinsed her mouth out and washed her face, staring at her reflection in the bathroom mirror. She had takeaway last night from her local Chinese, though she had never been sick from eating their food before, but she shrugged it off, assuming her tummy just didn't agree with something she ate, only to resume her morning routine .
Once she had finished getting dressed and applied her make-up Nessie headed to the kitchen to see Alice making coffee.
"I hope you made enough for two cups, Al." Nessie said as she sat down on one of the kitchen stools, causing Alice to jump.
"Ness – You almost gave me a heart attack!" Alice scolded as she turned around to face her. "And FYI, I did make enough."
Nessie laughed. "I didn't mean to make you jump."
"Mmmhmm, sure you didn't." Alice rolled her eyes, placing a cup of coffee in front of Nessie.
"Thanks, Al." Nessie smiled, but it faltered as she felt her stomach churn.
"You okay, Ness?" Alice asked, moving to sit next to her.
"Kind of, I think it's something I ate last night."
Alice raised one of her brows suspiciously before replying. "If you're sick Ness, call off sick from work."
"I can't. It's my first week." Nessie sighed.
"Honey, Jacob is your boyfriend. I'm sure he'd understand." Alice placed a comforting hand on Nessie's shoulder.
"I know, but I can't. Besides after I have class."
Alice sighed, scrunching her nose up in disgust. "I still can't believe you decided to start the summer program for Art, couldn't you of just waited for September?"
Nessie chuckled softly. "It gives me something to do besides work and I enjoy it, so sue me."
"You really are an odd ball, Ness." Alice admitted, laughing softly.
Nessie and Alice chatted awhile longer, finishing off their coffees before Nessie decided it was time to leave for work, she was going to stop at one of the coffee shops in town and grab a drink for the guys as a sweet gesture. She had become really fond of them all over the last week, they were hilarious and gave her a really warm welcome.
As Nessie walked down the street to the coffee shop she wondered if Jacob would mind if she stayed at his place tonight, since she slept at her apartment for the last few days, she guessed she would ask later, he usually didn't mind but Nessie still liked to ask.
Once she had got coffee's for herself, Jacob, Seth and Quil who were on shift today, she made her way to the garage, checking the time on her phone as she did. 11:17am. She started at 11:30 and had Art class straight after at 4pm which is why Nessie didn't wear heels today, opting for some flats, black jeans and a simple white long sleeved blouse, since there wasn't really a dress code.
Making her way into the garage, she noticed Seth and Quil working on a car together, but couldn't see Jacob. She wondered if he was in the office upstairs.
"Hey guys!" Nessie half heartedly waved, not wanting to drop the drinks, even though they were in a drinks holder, Nessie didn't want to risk it considering her lack of coordination skills.
"Nessie!" They had both beamed at her, noticing the coffee's in her hands.
"That for us?!" They asked as they made there way over to her, eagerly taking a cup each as Nessie nodded her reply, laughing softly.
"Where's Jacob?" She asked curiously, once they had their drinks in their hands.
"Oh – Jake's in the office, I think he's busy…" Seth stammered, looking to Quil for help then back to Nessie.
Nessie looked at Seth in confusion. "Is he on the phone or something?" Nessie asked, not understanding what he meant.
"Something like that…" Quil muttered, before going back to the car they had been working on, leaving Seth on his own. Quil liked Nessie, and he didn't want to get involved.
"I just don't think it would be a good idea to go to the office right now, Nessie." Seth stressed out, while Nessie made her way towards the stairs oblivious to Seth's desperation to keep her downstairs.
"Honestly, Seth.. If he's on the phone I'll be quite, promise." Nessie replied cheerfully as she made her way to the office.
Seth didn't reply after that, there was nothing he could do now.
Nessie had been missing Jacob since yesterday morning and she couldn't wait to see him again, and knowing Jacob wasn't really a morning person she hoped bringing him some fresh coffee would cheer him up. As Nessie stood out side his office door which had its blinds drawn, she straightened out her blouse, before opening the door.
And what she saw behind the door made her heart shatter; as she saw Irina sat on Jacob's lap, their lips smashed together in a kiss as Nessie felt her eyes well up as tears attempted to spill over, her hands letting go of the two coffee cups she held in her hands.
Jacob pushed Irina away from him, as he looked to the source of the sound, only to see Nessie standing there, two cups of coffee spilt over his office floor, which he guessed she had dropped in shock, her expression a mixture of anger and sadness.
"Nessie, it's not what it looks like!" Jacob pleaded, moving to get up from where he had sat in his office chair, and honestly it wasn't.
Irina had showed up outside his office a mere 15 minutes ago, begging to have Jacob back, that she made a mistake, and when she had heard the guys talking to Nessie downstairs she had started making advances towards him, Jacob had told her to leave, that he didn't love her, he loved Nessie.
But as soon as the footsteps had stopped outside the office Irina had pretty much pounced onto Jacob's lap from where she had been stood, crashing her lips to his as she held the collar of his shirt between her hands to hold him there as Nessie opened the office door.
But Nessie had turned away, hastily making her way out of the door way, not wanting to listen to Jacob's cliché words, as she rushed out of the garage, not listening to Jacob or the guys as they called after her.
Jacob turned in anger to face Irina, who had a wicked smile upon her face.
"What the hell were you thinking?!" Jacob bellowed. "I told you to leave and instead you kiss me just as Nessie walks in!"
Irina shrugged casually. "If I can't be happy, why should you?" She replied coldly, making her way out of the office, but not before turning to face Jacob once last time. "Good luck working things out with her." Irina laughed as she left.
Jacob punched the wall by the office door in anger.
How the hell was he going to get Nessie back now? Would she even talk to him? No doubt she didn't believe him when he said it isn't what it looks like, and he couldn't even blame her. Taking a moment to calm down, Jacob attempted to call Nessie on her cell, only for it to go straight to voicemail. Deciding he would just go after her, Jacob made his way downstairs, telling the guys he was going after Nessie. They both gave him sympathetic looks and nodded in understanding.
He was going to prove to Nessie he loved her if it's the last thing he does.
