The Goddess of Flash felt concerned, slight desperation etched across her features. Her eyes searched for the captain's whereabouts on this beautiful day. With how fast Yoruichi travels from place to place she could have searched everywhere three times over by now.
Usually, Soi Fon would be staying within the Soul Society compounds unless needed at a captains meeting. If not there, she's training somewhere secluded I know. The older woman didn't cease her search, Despite it taking time, she wouldn't let up in her mini adventure.
Yoruichi's footwear began to feel as if she were walking on rough concrete. Her breaths slightly uneven and a small drop of sweat glistened on her forehead. She could feel the wind blowing in her direction rapidly with the speed she moves. The sun is beginning to paint the sky tinges of orange. Birds beginning to rest for the day as the sun sets. Luck had yet to give her a clue to where the missing captain could be while her worries skyrocketed as she couldn't find Soi Fon.
Is she in the world of the living? Yoruichi thought to herself. No, she doesn't have any business there anyway. Maybe she's training somewhere new I don't know about? Yoruichi frowned at the possibility of how that could be the most likely case. The captain had many places she liked to train, some places Yoruichi had yet to find. While lost in her thoughts, she had noticed time was waning, taking away the day of her visit.
Anxiety uncharacteristically flared in the Goddess of Flash. She landed on a nearby branch to quell the feeling inside. At this rate, she'll have to forgo seeing the captain and head back. Yoruichi visibly shook her head, clothes feeling a little more constricting with her rambling thoughts.
Why am I worried so much? Surely I can see her another time? Soi Fon can certainly take care of herself if she's left alone. She visibly shook with at the thought of those last words, remembering her departure all those years ago.
Some unknown feeling had culled her into genuine concern and worry for Soi Fon. It had made her search for her as frantically as she is now, scanning every inch of each area she approaches. This feeling washed over her like a tidal wave, breaking down her walls of rational thought. She didn't see her today and it didn't sit right. Yoruichi frowned at how the day might end without seeing Soi Fon.
She doesn't need to tell me of her whereabouts, she's a grown woman. Her choices are her responsibility, she can take care of herself without me. Yoruichi stressed the last words gloomily. Soi Fon had become a woman admired in the eyes of many. Independence and respect was her right through her struggles after Yoruichi's departure. Everyone knows her struggle of broken child to strong commander. Many fear her but most respect her. How much has changed in the past few months since I returned? She's still the same fiercely loyal girl all those years ago, but she's not worshiping me anymore.
After Yoruichi's return and battle, Soi Fon began treating her more equally, much to the pleasure of the former. Even tending to be more forgiving with herself for the small mistakes she makes in the older woman's presence. Instead of cursing herself for how disrespectful she is, she had begun to directly express her forgotten task to Yoruichi with a small blush. It pleased the older woman to know her Little Bee isn't gonna revert back to her younger self. Now she can focus on being the friend Soi Fon can trust and relax with. Friendship was what Yoruichi thought of whenever Soi Fon is on her mind, but it seemed to be more than that. This was only the beginning of her feelings towards the captain growing more than that of friendship.
Shes strong and respected, but she's still the little girl back then on the inside. With her loyalty and cute admiration... Yoruichi trailed off, her previous negative emotions washing away momentarily. Her displays of admiration always left Yoruichi feeling warm on the inside, unaware of the dreamy face she's making.
Yoruichi chuckled when there was a moment when the Rangiku had come back from the world of the living bearing gifts for the S.W.A. Soi Fon had been given a plush black cat as a souvenir. Everyone at the S.W.A. meeting could attest that Soi Fon had smiled for a split second before returning to her natural stoic scowl. And from then on, she had been seen on more than one occasion bringing it to the meetings that ensued and hugging the plush rather tightly. Yoruichi knew full well the black cats are another metaphor for herself. Many times did she stumble upon the captain with another plush cat toy in her lap while she did paperwork.
Yoruichi smiles cheekily as she remembers hearing of such news. Her heart had fluttered slightly when she thought of such fond memories.
It was only when she realized her heart was doing such things did she really take into thought why she's thinking about Soi Fon. She has been one of the main reasons Yoruichi visits soul society recently. Her interactions with the captain can be seen as catching up on lost time. In the beginning, Yoruichi would just visit to catch up on the things she missed around Soul Society, visiting all the Divisions to get the newest topics of gossip and often eating lunch with some friends. The thing that remained constant is; her trips always ending after her visit to the Second Division.
With time, things have been changing to where she heads straight to the captain whenever she has the chance. Time with her Little Bee becoming more and more of a priority with her visits. Her interactions with the captain leave her in a tremendously better mood afterwards, regardless of whatever had irked her deeply prior to their meeting. Yoruichi visibly shakes this thought out of her head.
Friends always put me in better moods so it's probably nothing right? Kukaku's makes me feel better too. Yoruichi lied. Soi Fon made her happier by her presence and teasing whereas Kukaku made her happier via drinking and mischief
Soi Fon, unbeknownst to Yoruichi, had begun to schedule days when she would come and have Omaeda control the majority of the Division on those days. Yoruichi would catch wind of how these days would be scheduled off and began to mischievously drop by randomly. Maybe she just scheduled this day off ahead of time and she's figured me out? But that doesn't explain why she wouldn't be somewhere I know. Yoruichi sighs, defeated. I wish I could see her now.
With this thought, she abruptly shook her head into focus. Why does Yourichi wish to see her Little Bee? She has never wished to see anyone, not even close friends. I'm sure she's only a friend, right? It's not like she's magically my l-lover. Her heart automatically fluttered slightly upon the thought of the word lover. Yoruichi's romantic feelings towards her Little Bee pushing their way through her musings. The captain had become more appealing in the eyes of Yoruichi and she could remember roughly when it started.
There was a time when Yoruichi and Soi Fon had finished a small mission involving surveillance of a supposed traitor in the Soul Society. The traitor was accused of meeting residents in the Rukongai and selling secrets to some unknown force outside the radar of the Gotei 13. This however turned to be false as this traitor had only been visiting a secret family he had harbored. This supposed traitor had married and began a family that were housed here in the Rukongai. It's no surprise when the sight of a shinigami prolonging his stays in Rukongai can lead to misinterpretations, especially after Aizen. Despite the innocence, Soi Fon had threatened to bind and chain the shinigami to bring back to Seireitei. It took Yoruichi a while to explain to Soi Fon about how this isn't worth such a hassle. They decided to leave this matter be and traverse back, all while the shinigami was frightened to the core about incurring the wrath of the Second Division captain.
On their way back, the shunpo masters stopped to relax and gather some food to eat. Uncharacteristically, Soi Fon had begun to order some food for the other residents of the S.W.A. Mainly Rangiku Matsumoto. Yoruichi was surprised by this turn of action. She was confused to see her Little Bee talk about the busty woman. To Yoruichi it seemed that they were closer than she let on. It had bothered Yoruichi slightly but she was curious to know and had decided to question her Little Bee about the matter.
"So what's with ordering food for all these people? I thought the captain of the Second Division was known to be cold and secretive?" She teased playfully, masking envy in her voice.
"Although I am known to be such things, Yoruichi-sama. That isn't to say that I cannot express gratitude for the people who have become my acquaintances." Soi Fon had emphasized the last word. To her it was hard to say who she could trust as a friend or acquaintance.
"I see that, Little Bee. It's awfully nice to see you being so friendly with others. But you ordered the same thing for everyone except Rangiku. That's unlike you to get different things, much less only one person getting the differing item." Yoruichi quizzically stated.
Soi Fon stopped eating her food and thought for a moment. "Matsumoto is a good person after all. She may be a woman who hides from her responsibilities to have fun, but she has a good heart. I enjoy being around her, Yoruichi-sama." Upon that last phrase, an unfamiliar feeling had crept up inside the older woman, making her wince for a split-second before reverting back to her neutral gaze. Thankfully, Soi Fon didn't notice.
Yoruichi decided to leave it at that and they headed back to the Soul Society to report what they had found. Afterwards, she bid her Little Bee farewell and began her trek back to the Urahara Shop. Once home, she began mulling over the day in her room.
What her Little Bee had said stuck with the woman. It had left a bad taste in her mouth and made her scowl. The unfamiliar feeling coming back as she imagined Rangiku and Soi Fon getting closer than usual. She frowned at the image her mind had presented her and shook it away, accepting the fact that it was merely only Soi Fon making friends.
Since that food incident she had thought more about Soi Fon. The idea of Soi Fon having potential mates made the Goddess uncomfortable. Her beloved Little Bee showing anyone the adorable shy exterior made her heart sting. Beforehand, Yoruichi wouldn't think about anything special when she returned into the world of the living, merely brushing the day off. Since then, she had begun to miss the time she spent in the Soul Society, even more after spending time with the captain. With each occasional visit she would want to linger around for just a little bit more. At first her visits were to drop by each Division and catch gossip. Nowadays she would spend less time in the other Divisions and more time into the Second Division. Yoruichi didn't notice, but the more time she spent with Soi Fon, the more the itch would be scratched, and conversely come back stronger.
As her visits came to an end, her feelings and emotions were only beginning. Despite being in close proximity a majority of the time, Yoruichi's mind had wanted more. At the end of every visit, Yoruichi would give Soi Fon a hug, sometimes briefly or lasting. The first time Yoruichi had done so, Soi Fon had blushed a deep crimson and visibly jumped at what the former was doing, questioning her actions. To which Yoruichi would brush it off by exclaiming that friends do such things all the time and that she had wanted to try it with the captain. Soi Fon had taken a great deal to grow accustomed to the act. From then on, a hug would be the last thing that the two did before Yoruichi leaves for the world of the living again. Leaving a blushing Soi Fon behind to compose herself. The most recent one having lasted a whopping eight seconds, which is now a normal occurrence.
Hugging Soi Fon gave Yoruichi butterflies in her stomach and her heart fluttered. Of all the times she hugged her, she never really thought about the act until now. Her mind would always brush it aside and carry on with her day. Does this mean something else? Do I like her?
After her visit, she had an unpleasant thought of Soi Fon and Rangiku Matsumoto becoming more than stressed the word, and it made her feel uneasy. The idea of Soi Fon and Rangiku being together felt absurd to Yoruichi. She was running through the thought in her head contrasting the two, convincing herself that such a relationship couldn't exist. It could never happen...hopefully... Yoruichi's anxiety had flared again, her heartbeat increasing and a slight panic set in the Goddess's features.
She kept imagining the unlikely couple closing the distance between each other with a kiss. A painful feeling in her heart crept up thinking of Soi Fon with another. They couldn't possibly be close like that right? It's absurd to see such a thing. Soi can't like Rangiku. They're total opposites.
As if something had whispered in her ear, she snapped her head into focus at a sudden realization. They're opposites… opposites attract all the time. Her breathing had become slightly rapid as she reluctantly continued the excruciating train of thought.
W-what if they are t-together? What if s-she's with her now? Her heartbeat was even faster and she was in full fledged panic. Sweat had formed onto her forehead and it felt harder to breathe. All the while she kept thinking about the two of them. Together. Privately.
Without another thought, Yoruichi shunpoed off the branch into the woods, moving for the sake of keeping her mind from thinking about such things. Painful scenarios kept playing in her head as she sped throughout the forest. The older woman kept physically shaking her head in an attempt to stop the horrendous imagination that was running wild in her. Her movements getting faster and faster as she tried to escape from her own mind.
No! Stop! It isn't real… get out of my head! It isn't real! Yoruichi repeated those words to herself as she shunpoed throughout the night, Soi Fon becoming the object of her painful musings. Countless scenarios adorned her conscious, all of them ending in Soi Fon happily together with Rangiku.
Suddenly, she felt a small spike in reiatsu in the distance. In an instant, the spike died down. It took Yoruichi a moment to calm her nerves enough to sense the reiatsu. Feeling who it was, she had found who she was looking for, Soi Fon. Her heart that had beat heavily with angst slowed down and let itself equalize, trying to prepare herself to see her Little Bee. Although each beat still stung.
