Outline 2: The War Part 1

SIDE PLOT 1: The Overlands

Outskirts of the Districts

Bunny, Mrs. (Abigail) Overland and Emma are all still on their perilous expedition to District 13. Convo btwn Bunny and Mrs. Overland involves the repair of the teleportation device that he was attempting to work before (the same that teleported the Five out of the Games), of which Abigail Overland is doing a better job of finishing it than him. She reveals that she was originally brought up in Capitol, but fled as a refugee, though she's vague on the reasons why. She reveals that she escaped via a teleportation device similar to the one they were repairing. This teleportation device is also apparently a crude version of the doors system in the Capitol Underground labyrinth (which is the Monster Inc system).

Capitol patrol via Hovercrafts comes for them, and in the midst of fleeing, the supposedly unfinished teleportation gets triggered and transports Emma & Mrs. Overland to the Capitol.

MAIN PLOT:

The War picks up favouring the Rebellion. District 5 is won completely to their side and District 13 starts deploying troops into Districts that already have organised rebel groups e.g. District 3 (Hiro's district), 5 (Merida's District) and 8 (Flynn and Rapunzel's District).

Every one is basically in war mode.

Elsa, as Snow Queen, is supposed to film some propaganda speeches, but because she's super stiff and awkward (much like her playing charades in Frozen 2), they turn out badly.

Merida who's watching the filming process gets annoyed and basically tries to show Elsa how it's done, and does such a good job that the filmmakers (i.e. the Inside out Team) opt to have her as the Rebellion spokesperson.

Her most prominent propaganda pieces involves her re-telling of the story of the Four brothers, telling it while emphasising Lotso failure to stay true to his promises of building Panem, and using the four brothers as an illustration of the power of unity. Like in the movie 'Brave', Elinor is very impressed with Merida's skill in diplomacy and realises that her daughter has grown up.

So Elsa becomes the face of the Rebellion, while Merida becomes the voice. Both of them by now have become somewhat weird friends. Having more responsibility and work give Merida better things do with her time, and helps her curb her on/off addiction to morphling.

Hiccup has a bit of strain with his relationship with Valka now, since she's still mad that their 'Capitol infiltration' cost a lot of dragons. Also, he becomes increasingly certain that Valka is hiding impt info from him. He confides in Elinor, who is the 'Man-in-the-Moon', and they have a convo about why Elinor chose to trust him despite him being from District 2, and she gives some talk about how the places people are from don't define them, and hints to him that Valka herself was from a district that had more loyalty to the Capitol.

Oh yeah, side info: so Rapunzel, now with her hair cut, decides to learn how to be a nurse in the infirmary and feels a lot happier that she can now help people without it being something that defined her identity. Her relationship with Eugene blossoms as they both begin to heal from their traumas.

Anna befriends Rapunzel, as they sort of did back when they were both prisoners of the Capitol. With Kristoff being hospitalised for some time there, she also learns some medical skills and trains to become a field medic.

SIDE PLOT 2: Jack

District 10

As hinted in the previous outline, Jack successfully broke out of the Underground. Without memories and struggling with hallucinations, he's not really sure what he's going and finds himself flying back to District 10 for some reason. He picks up a poncho - his poncho actually, but he doesn't remember - that he finds washed up by the river. He meets Lastochka, the metal toy bird, who flies him back to the empty Overland home. He doesn't remember anything though.

MAIN PLOT:

District 13

Bunnymund is brought into District 13, injured from his run from hovercrafts. He cites North's death at the hand of Capitol, and gets angry when District 13's council don't want to go in to help District 10's faltering rebellion forces. Elinor, as the Man-in- the-Moon, is sympathetic, but ultimately agrees with President Bludvist's decision as not to divide District 13's resources.

Merida eavesdrops on this convo, and convinces Elsa that they go and take out the Capitol Forces in Districts that don't have strong rebellion support, like District 12, 11 and even 10, certain that Elsa's ice powers will make short work. Elsa is uncertain about this, but after a convo with Anna (in a scene similar to Katniss' bedtime talk with Prim), she's on board with Merida's idea. They try to convince Hiro to lend them Baymax to fly them there. Baymax is the one who convinces him that 'someone has to help'. Of course Ralph finds out, and joins to provide them with the muscle - mainly to protect Merida.

Elinor finds out this mission of course, and while worried for Merida's safety, decides to trust her daughter and ask Hiccup to join this mission, because she believes that at least one responsible person needs to be on the team.

Hiccup: And you think I'll be that person because...

Elinor: You have the most to prove, so I know you'll be doing you're utmost.

Hiccup: ...Okay, I was honestly expecting something more inspirational.

So the five (6 if plus Baymax) them sneakily make preparation to invade the Districts, and they start calling themselves 'The Guardians' after the Four brother of Panem, who were supposed to be the original Guardians. They also take on call-signs named after Chess pieces (given to them by Merida):

Hiro (via Baymax) - 'King': Because he's the one providing the intel and smarts, thus extremely the most impt, but he's also physically the weakest out of them all.

Elsa - 'Queen': arguably the most powerful of them all.

Hiccup (& Toothless, by extension) - 'Knight': Just because of 'Night' fury. Also coz he's a pretty noble guy.

Ralph - 'Castle': Coz he's big, sturdy and strong, like a castle

Merida - 'Bishop': Coz that's the piece left. And well, the bishop can get to a lot of places on the chess board quickly if there's no obstacles, much like a nimble archer.

Also, Hiro makes them all 'G' symbol signs, which is basically the Mockingjay equivalent in this story. (Rmb Elsa wore a pin bearing this during the Games, which was given to her by Kristoff.)

So in the dead of night, they sneak off to Districts.

District 12

They start with District 12, and successfully get chase away most of the Capitol forces without much casualities on either side. Baymax film the process, and Hiro gives to this footage to be made into propaganda. President Bludvist isn't happy about the sneaking behind his back, but is convinced by Calhoun to utilise it, and he allows District 13 units to be sent into District 12 to establish a base, garner support by training new units and also using District 12's coal supply for some energy needs.

Elsa, Anna and Kristoff are glad to return to their home district again and be reunited with families (Kristoff) and going to their homes (Elsa and Anna). Upon going back their home though, Elsa is slightly creeped out to find a pair of gloves (that aren't hers) on her bed, with a creepy note inside it saying like, "You don't belong there".

The Guardians (i.e. The Five) then strategise to infiltrate District 11. They get more support now since they're doing this officially. Calhoun leads her own team to help them, and surprise, surprise - Eugene one of those people on team. He has some bonding time with Hiccup. The latter thinking of his own home of District 2, asks about why a person would join a rebellion if the Capitol treated that person well (the Capitol treated Flynn Rider pretty well, after all). And Eugene says that he joined because he had no choice to be free from the Capitol's slave (he was a treated as a prostitute after all), and District 2 has realise that the Capitol was also doing that to them.

During one of the strategy meeting, it occurs to everyone that the Capitol has managed to survive without even with the two power districts, District 5 and District 12, being cut off from it, and this suggests that the Capitol is definitely working from some alternate sources of power.

SIDE PLOT 3: Pitch Black

Capitol - The Underground (The Scare Floor)

This alternate source of power turns out to be Scream Power that Randall Boggs had been working on (see Chapter 4), which proves to be a very efficient resource.)

Capitol - The Underground (The Eden Project)

They start using their studies from the Eden Project (which Rapunzel had been studied under) to create the drug that would allow some burst of healing for those who consume it.

~~~0~~~
District 11
The Guardians + company invade District 11, which is much harder fight than District 12 because as the district of harvest, the Capitol really wants to protect it. The battle is very hard and there's a lot of casualty. All the Guardians have to deal with guilt of death, and which is slightly different: Ralph and Merida comes to terms with the destruction being necessary; Hiccup feels extremely guilty and is somewhat comforted by Valka peptalking to him, thus repairing the strain between them; Hiro, being quite faraway from the most of the actual battle, doesn't feel very much about it; Elsa struggle with seeing herself as a monster and wonders if her being a symbol was leading to a lot of death.
District 11 is won, but at a very heavy cost.
They prepare to go into District 10.
SIDE PLOT 2: Jack
District 10
After leaving his childhood home, Jack Frost has a short talk with a puddle that used to be a snowman called Frosty, before stepping into the puddle just to annoy him. After that, Jack encounters bird-fairy lady (basically the ROTG movie's version of Tooth) who takes him to main area of District 10 and shows him the Peacekeepers. Apparently, one of Jack's new abilities is that he can make himself invisible (A/N: reference to how he was invisible to people unless they believed in him in the movie ROTG). This is why Elsa didn't see him killing people in the footage she saw during the Capitol breakout. It's because he had gone invisible then.
This allow him and this bird-fairy lady (who is just a hallucination ... right?) to travel around District 10. He's in time to see District 10 be invaded by the Rebellion, which leads to District 10 civilians fleeing while the Capitol forces attack.
Jack goes and saves some people who get caught in the fray, and he rescues a small girl who looks like bird-fairy lady, who turns out to be the real life Tooth's little sister from her family who ran the chicken coop. Jack, having lost his memory however, cannot acknowledge this significance.
He witnesses the Guardians driving back the Capitol forces, and he spots Elsa. He remembers her as the creepy queen from his hallucinations and knows her to be responsible for the pain that he gets in his chest sometimes. When he confronts her, Elsa is all shocked and stunned to see him.
And of course he pulls a Peeta and tries to strangle her, except that he does it in the middle of a battlefield.
Merida is the one coming to Elsa's rescue by shooting Jack in the back (of course Elsa collapses from this incident, cutting short any Snow Queen action in the invasion). After getting nearer Merida also recogonises him and is shocked. Jack managed to patch up the wound he gives her, and also tries to kill her since he perceives her as a threat. He only stops when Ralph gives him a whack on the head, and Merida is the one who stops Ralph from killing him.
~~~0~~~

MAIN PLOT:

District 13

While fight for District 10 rages on, Elsa gets treated for her wounds in District 13. Jack is locked up somewhere and President Bludvist wants him dead. Merida protests against it, on Elsa's behalf and coz Merida has lingering guilt about his 'death' in the Games (he rescued Merida from death before he 'died). Elsa is very guilty and very eager for him to be saved (using her role as Snow Queen, symbol of the Rebellion, to blackmail Bludvist into keeping him alive).

It becomes very clear that Jack (Jack Frost as he calls himself) has no memories and is very hostile to everyone and seems pretty schizophrenic, coz he keeps talking to things that no one else can see. The only person that somehow doesn't set him off ends up being Kristoff, because honestly Kristoff is one of the most guileless guys on the planet and being a big guy, he's not very scared of Jack. Jack also has long conversations with Sven the reindeer, which Kristoff thinks is normal anyways. Kristoff kinda gets put in charge of his therapy, an investment which Calhoun convinces President Bludvist to think that having two super power cyrokinetics is always good.

(A/N: I just really like Kristoff and Jack friendship, okay? It was also in 'When Jack Frost Asked the Snow Queen', and I enjoyed that tremendously.)

The only time Elsa tries to talk to him, he lashes out about that she's the one who froze him (he knows this becoz someone lets this slip to him during a conversation), and he's sure that she's evil and a mutt from the Capitol. These experiences are kind of traumatising for Elsa, and she can't pull herself together to go out and fight. Anna, Merida, Hiro all try to support her the best they can, to some avail. Everyone gives Jack a very wide berth.

SIDE PLOT 3: Pitch Black

The Capitol, Underground - The Eden Project

They began trying healing drugs on some Peacekeepers , which leads to them be able to heal from any wounds long as they heard healing incantation being played. But when the incantation stopped, the soldiers would be vulnerable to attack. Pitch Black, who is still in charge of this project, considers this finding a success. He proposes that all that needs to be done is that all soldiers to constantly listen to the incantations via headsets.

When they experiment on this, they realised that prolonged exposure (roughly more than 15mins) to the incantation seem to drive the soldiers permanently crazy, and those soldiers would just go on a killing rampage before killing themselves.

Most consider this a failure, but Pitch doesn't, and orders them to begin mass production of the drug.

Subplot 1: The Overlands

The Capitol - The

So during this period of time, Mrs Overland and Emma are snooping around the Capitol, and Mrs Overland is resourceful enough to find them enough hiding places out of sight of the surveillance. She tries to find pieces to fix their teleportation device. Emma notices that her mother seems to understand the Capitol very well, and even knows about the Underground. Mrs. Overland takes them to the Underground, because she's sure she more likely to find the parts to fix the teleportation device here.

Even though the Undergrounds should be a labyrinth, Mrs Overland seems to know all the tricks to get around it and leads Emma safely through. When Emma begins asking questions, Mrs. Overland reveals that her own father (Mrs. Overland's father, not Emma's) had been a mechanical genius, and he helped invent many booby-traps in the Capitol. Because of what her father taught her, Mrs. Overland knows how to disable the traps, and shows Emma how to do the same. They come across the Eden Project, and Mrs. Overland apparently shows a lot of familiarity with the project. She concludes that Lotso would want to use the healing properties of the golden flower to pretty much give him immortality, and this seems to strike her pretty hard.

Mrs. Overland finds the parts to fix the teleportation device, as she wanted, but before she can fix it, an alarm sounds. In the course of their fleeing, Emma and Mrs. Overland get separated. To escape Peacekeepers from getting them, Mrs. Overland get the labyrinth doors working, but before they can flee through one together, Emma gets left behind. Emma quickly find another door flee through. However, while Mrs. Overland ends up back on the streets of the Capitol, Emma is nowhere to be found.

And where did Emma? Emma ends up in the Presidential Palace.

I guess I'll continue this rest of this another time.
