You Don't Own Me

Chapter 2

Damon

The warm air hit Damon just right as he climbed back into his room through his bedroom window where his brother Stefan was waiting there to bust him. Fuck. He hadn't thought of Stefan when he planned on breaking out of there to go to the party that night.

"Where were you? I called you two hours ago."

"I was out. You don't have to know any more than that."

"The hell I do. I covered with mom and dad for you. You can't keep doing this shit Damon, it's not healthy for you."

"I'm sorry but who's the older brother here, me or you."

"I'm just trying to save your ass here Damon. You're a hero. You shouldn't be hanging around those villains, they're dangerous."

"How would you know? Have you ever tried to hang out with one?"

"No. And I'm never going to. I don't have a death wish like you."

"It's not a death wish Stefan. I think of it as a disservice to exclude them from our lives just because of who their parents are. No one is ever all good or all bad, it's insane for us to even think that."

"No, it's smart and if you don't want to get yourself killed, I suggest you stay far away from any villain."

"What about at school?"

"Especially at school. You know what will happen if any of the heroes see you fraternizing with the villains."

"Not sure, but for whatever reason I don't seem to care anymore."

"How can you not care? You were raised to believe that villains were evil. Why are you fight that?"

"Because maybe it's not as black and white as we think it is Stefan."

"Who is she?"

"What do you mean?"

"Obviously this change of behavior is due to a girl, so I ask again who is she?"

"Elena. Her name is Elena."

"And what does she have that make you weak in the knees?"

"Truthfully I don't know what it is, there's just something in me that has to know her."

"That feeling will get you killed if you're not careful."

"Now who's being melodramatic?"

"Just be careful. You're already on the governors watch list for suspicious behavior. Do you want to be downgraded to one of the lesser known regions where heroes and villains do not achieve greatness?"

"What's so bad about that?"

"Obviously you haven't been getting enough sleep, because you're sounding insane. Get some sleep and we'll talk in the morning."

"I still won't change my mind. You know that. We've been over this multiple time."

"Goodnight Damon." Stefan yelled back as he left Damon's room causing Damon to grunt in frustration and fall back on his bed. Why the hell did his family have to be so damn good all the time? One thing was for sure was that he had to find some way to change that.
