Sure enough, Jirou's gut told her so.
Everyone else had done something much more interesting during their Work Study. Asui and Uraraka seem more experienced outside of hero training. Like they were more alert than usual. Quick on their heels.
Yaoyorozu was excited to tell her about her learnings in close combat. Her boasts nearly earned the rocking-girl an accidental jab to the face. Yaoyorozu apologized for a solid minute. Then there was Ashido and Hagakure. Every one of her friends had improved one way or another.
Don't even get her started on the boys.
Jirou had excelled in keeping up on the step ladder, too, don't get her wrong! Yet her mind always, always, without fail, brings her back to the graffiti shenanigan.
And it peeved her like milk before cereal.
What is she supposed to say when someone asks her how her Work Study went?
Swimmingly?
Absolutely not.
All she can think about is that damn graffiti. She even saved a few construction workers from a failed project! Out of all the events she and Shouji worked together through, that damn house fire drawing is what piques her?!
Kudos, graffiti-man!
Screw you, too!
"Jirou-chan," Hagakure squeals. "What did you do on your Work Study?!"
Scrub graffiti.
"I learned how to use my jacks to a better potential. I even saved a few people."
"Ooh! So cool! So… were you and Shouji-kun able to get any closer?"
Through graffiti.
"Why are you saying it like that?" Jirou chuckles. "All we did was work together. To be honest, I didn't expect him to be so nice."
Ashido makes herself known by sitting on Jirou's desk. "How dare you have girl talk without me! I wanna know what's going on, too!"
"We're just talking about Work Study."
About graffiti.
"Oh, speaking of that, Aoyama-kun and I..."
Hagakure's words fade in Jirou's head. She falls back to that stupid image of a burning house and a big, bright, yellow sun. There isn't even any shading. Solid colors that don't even stay inside the lines. A perfect replica of something she'd make before she got her quirk.
A child's drawing.
Such a thing was done by a villain?
Are they sure it wasn't some kid losing control of his or her power? Why couldn't the professionals deal with it? So what if it keeps showing up in different cities?
Will she have to do it again?
She'd rather wait until the wall fell on her!
Was it a warning? Were they planning on committing arson? Are they preparing for their official villain debut? To make themselves known?
Why?
"...rou-chan? Jirou-chan?"
"H-huh? What's going on? What's burning?"
"Nothing's burning. You were spacing out."
Hagakure and Ashido stare.
Jirou feels her face turn crimson. "O-oh. My bad."
Damn it all.
She can't take it anymore. Fine. You win, graffiti-man. She absolutely needs another look at that stupid graffiti.
