"What did you two do last night?" I heard Alicia's voice say, it's bright in my room, and what does she mean two?
"What?" I mumbled.
"Why is Oliver in your bed?" Alicia asked. Without even opening my eyes I could tell she had a cheeky grin on her face saying this.
"Oliver is in my bed?" I asked sitting up and saw Oliver still dead asleep next to me.
"How does he sleep through you, he must teach me" I muttered.
"Oliver…" I whined and got no response, so I smacked him in the head.
"WHAT?" he groaned, rubbing where I hit him.
"Out of my bed!" I shouted, pushing him.
"No" he grunted. Then he rolled back over and fell right back to sleep.
"Well, he does have an idea there" I said and curled back up in my blankets.
"Well I'm going to go ahead and assume that's how this happened in the first place….but don't you two have to go to practice?" Alicia said.
"What time is it?" I groaned.
"Nine" she said.
"Ew then why did you wake me up" I muttered.
"Ugh, Kates she's right, we have practice in an hour…in London" Oliver mumbled into one of my pillows near him.
"Well that's what magic is for" I moaned. I grabbed my wand and put it up to me changing my clothes and putting my hair up, then with another flick my shoes were next to my bed.
"There, wake me up in an hour when I have to apparate to the pitch" I grumbled and returned to my blanket ball.
"Oh good idea" and Oliver did the same as I did.
"But forty five minutes" He added before I could hear him snoring slightly. I heard Alicia laugh and then leave the room. She told George to wake us up in 45 minutes because she was leaving for work.
"Guys, it's been forty five minutes" George mumbled before wobbling back into his room.
"Those minutes went by too fast….I want a refund!" I complained.
"Haha if only that was possible" Oliver laughed.
"It should be, where's a time turner" I whined.
"Come on we need to get going" Oliver said and got out of bed.
"I need to move to a magical area, where I can just apparate from bed" I claimed.
"Yeah, but until then you need to get your lazy bum out of bed" Oliver said and threw something at me.
I rolled out of bed and onto the floor to put on my shoes.
"Well that was graceful" Oliver laughed and Fred and George came inside to see what the crash was.
I put my shoes on and then curled into a ball on my floor and pulled my blankets off of my bed and onto me.
"Is this what you do every morning?" Oliver said standing up all ready to go.
"Yeah pretty much" I mumbled under my blankets and suddenly I could tell I wasn't on the ground anymore.
"Did you pick me up?" I asked because I still was covered in blankets.
"Yes, at this rate we will be late to practice and I hate being late" Oliver said and took the blankets off of me.
"Sweet so I don't have to walk?" I said and he laughed.
"I guess not," he said, shifting me so that he could carry me better.
"Sweet" I moved to get comfortable and tried to go back to sleep.
"Are you falling asleep?" he asked when we were walking down the stairs towards the front door of the building.
"No," I said weakly.
All of a sudden he started to shake me.
"Oh no Kates, I think there is an earthquake" He laughed.
"Doon't" I whined.
"Ha ha fine" I heard the front door open and the sounds of outside all around us.
"Prepare yourself, I'm apparating" He said and then I felt the familiar feeling, it was weird to be not apparating myself but just along for the ride.
"Alright, think you can walk into the locker rooms?" He asked me.
"Nope" I laughed and he plopped me on the ground.
"Well that sucks for you" He laughed and walked away.
I stumbled onto my feet and into the locker room, my locker was next to Oliver's. He was already getting changed into his robes.
"I hate you" I grumbled.
"Yeah apparently" He smiled.
I changed into my robes and proceeded to plop down on the ground and curl into a ball because I just wanted to sleep.
"You know, this is all your fault. I could be at home, sleeping peacefully, but nooo you have to make me play quidditch again, and best of all I have to play for the national team. So I have even less time to sleep" I moaned.
"Yep, but I like to make you suffer" He smiled.
"I figured as much," I groaned.
"I bet it smells wonderful down there" He laughed.
"I'm too tired to care," I said honestly.
"Aren't you two a sight for sore eyes" Mica said coming over and giving Oliver a manly hug.
"Bell, what are you doing on the floor" He asked as soon as he noticed.
"She's still in denial that she has a profession again and has to wake up at a certain time. I had to literally carry her to practice today" Oliver explained and I just grunted in approval.
"Well, you better wake up soon, we are doing a full scrimmage today" Mica laughed. I was suddenly on my feet with two hands in my armpits
"Unnecessary" I complained.
"Nope, because if I didn't do that you probably would have just laid there all practice" Oliver scolded.
"I see no problem here" I mumbled picking up my broom.
"Merlin's Beard Kates, just go" Oliver said because I was still shuffling my feet.
"Fine" I walked with more effort.
"Wow…there are a lot of new faces" I said, looking around I only recognized two people.
"Yeah… they have been working hard to get new people, some are even new since the last time I was here" Oliver said.
"Wow…so they really did let you back" Some girl with blonde hair said to Oliver.
"Do I know you?" Oliver asked…he very well could, being that he was drunk for the last two months he played, he could have met Jesus and not remembered it.
"No, I'm Carrie. I joined the team last week" She said with a very annoying voice…. Am I hungover? I really feel like I'm hungover. Her voice is piercing through my brian in a way no noise should do without being punishment for abusing alcohol. I also want to pass out and feel a bit like I'm going to be sick.
"Oliver did I get drunk last night" I asked him… I only remember having a glass of wine with my chicken fingers...
"No why" He laughed.
"I feel hungover," I explained.
"Just had your excellent wine pairing as far as I'm aware" He laughed.
"And who are you?" Carrie asked me in a very snobby tone.
"Um… Katie Bell…I was on the team when we were still good" I said casually. I had no patience for any of this shit right now.
"Hmm never heard of you" She said and my headache came back. How can anyone's voice be so high pitched, how does she and everyone around her not constantly have a headache. Wait HOLD UP, I know that annoying voice!
"Wait, what did you say your name was" I asked.
"Carrie…" She was looking at me like I was about to hex her or something.
"Carrie Waters?!" I asked.
"Yeah…"She was officially concerned.
"You played for Ravenclaw in Hogwarts?" I asked.
"Yeah, what, were you like a fan of me or something?" she said pretentiously.
"No! I knocked you out my first game back in my seventh year!" I said. I remember it too! She was annoying the crap out of me so I went to go catch the quaffle and "accidentally" ran into her broom. She fell off and got knocked out cold. I was proud of myself. She was a really bad player though, the team seemed relieved that she got sent to the hospital wing that early on.
"Yeah…you did" she said…oh so she did know me after all.
"Funny how things like that happened so long ago and I can remember it like it was yesterday. I'm so sorry too, honestly I didn't see you there, Ginny's throw was way off." I smiled and I could see that Oliver was stifling a laugh.
"Well good to catch up….welcome back I guess" She said and flew off.
"YOU KNOCKED HER OUT?!" Oliver spit out and burst out into laughter the moment she was out of earshot.
"Yeah, it was great!" I beamed.
"I would have paid to see that!" He said, still laughing.
"Boy, she wants a piece of you though. That's for sure." I laughed.
"Yeah, well at least she isn't 13" He laughed.
"God, you aren't ever going to let that die are you?" I sighed.
"Nope, probably not" He laughed and smiled his stupid cocky smile.
"I hate you," I said and crossed my arms across my chest.
"You keep saying," Oliver said.
"WOOD, BELL, LET'S GET STARTED" Greg yelled from the other side of the pitch and we flew over to see where he wanted us.
"I really hope that she doesn't get on our team" I said on our way over.
"Why?" Oliver asked.
"Because she is pitiful, even with me on the team we will lose" I said.
"A bit pigheaded are we?" He laughed.
"Wow….this coming from Oliver Wood….I'm scared" I said and he shoved me.
"So, you two are going to be on a team with Andrews, Owen, Edwards, Wilson, and Hermit." Greg explained as we got to him. Wow…this was almost exactly the same starting team as before…just missing one person. I took a deep sigh.
"Are you missing him?" Oliver asked.
"What, who?" I asked, not thinking he had been paying attention to me.
"When he said the names you sighed…there is only one name missing" He said.
"Yeah" I said and I almost started to cry.
"Are you going to be okay? Do you want to take a break, I'm sure Greg will understand" Oliver said…wow he was being really normal about this, normally when ever Jake comes up in discussion he gets all stupid about it.
"No I should be fine…it's going to be weird that's all. It doesn't make sense, but I still forget he isn't here sometimes. Like I think I'll pass the quaffle and he'll just suddenly be there to catch it." I said and Oliver gave me a side hug.
"Bell, are you okay?" Mica asked as I got into position next to him.
"I was doing a lot better before this very moment" I chuckled, wiping away a tear. I looked back at Oliver because I could feel his gaze burning through the back of my head..
"I'm fine" I mouthed to him, he shrugged and then centered himself in front of the middle hoop.
"You still play the same?" Mica asked.
"More or less" I said, it's confusing but true.
"Alright, I'll try it and see how you do," Mica said, he patted me on the shoulder before getting into position.
Greg threw up the quaffle and Edwards caught it. He threw it to Mica who flew forwards as fast as he could weaving around Carrie and some other girl, since when have so many girls joined the team. They might as well give us our own locker room now. I rushed to get up towards where the goals posts were just in case Mica needed to pass it to me. I had a beater trying to knock me away but he missed. Mica got the quaffle to me, I flew up and threw it in the middle hoop because the keeper was still on the left hoop looking at Mica.
"Good shot, Katie!" Greg shouted and I did a silly little bow.
"I see you're back in the game" Oliver said once we were back in the locker rooms.
"Maybe" I shrugged.
"You were crying earlier," Oliver pointed out.
"Yeah, it was harder at first than I was expecting" I shrugged.
"Well, you did well without him, almost back in the saddle" He patted me on the shoulder.
"Hey Oliver," Carrie said, walking over in nothing but her pants.
"Hi…" He quickly gave her a look up and down so I shot him a dirty look.
"Some of my friends and I were going to go out clubbing tonight, and I was just wondering if you wanted to come along with us" She asked him.
"Uh….I don't really partake in that sort of thing anymore" He said, looking at me who was still glaring at him.
"Come on! You don't have to drink, just come dance!" She said bouncing a bit and pleading. Which caused a lot to bounce and be on display.
"Ah...I'd only be able to go if Katie came along to keep me in line." He said, rubbing the back of his neck. I don't want to go clubbing, especially not with that.
"We really only have room in the group for one more person" She said, giving me a sort of disgusted look.
"Yeah, well then I'm going to have to pass. You see, I already made plans with Kates tonight, and it wouldn't be very proper for me to just ditch her to go clubbing with you" Oliver said in a weird almost fatherly voice…Oliver would be a very weird father.
"Oh" She said and walked away.
"We have plans?" I asked him after she left.
"Well now we do because you didn't want me going with her and I'm not sitting home alone all night." He said with an evil smile.
"You should really try it. I find it relaxing." I laughed and he just shoved me.
"So, what are we doing tonight then?" Oliver said as we were walking out of the pitch.
"Well you could just come and hang out at our place and see if anyone wants us to do anything." I shrugged.
"Alright, sounds like a plan to me" He smiled then disapparated. I followed shortly after apparating to the alleyway near my flat where he was standing and waiting for me.
We walked up into my flat and Angelina, Alicia, and George were all inside.
"Hey Katie, do you want to come with me to meet with my wedding planner?" Alicia said with this big silly smile. It's so funny how she is planning it today and she just got engaged yesterday. I guess this isn't going to be a long engagement.
"No, I told Oliver I would hang out with him tonight. I'll come next time you meet up with them" I said and it was true…but mainly I just didn't want to be around that much wedding talk.
"Alright, well then Angelina and I are off we will see you all later tonight" Alicia chripped.
"You sure you don't want me to come?" George asked… doesn't the groom normally go to these?
"Yes I'm sure; all you need to worry about is showing up to the wedding on time. I'll take care of everything else" Alicia said with a smile that clearly meant that she didn't trust George to help plan the wedding.
"Alright" George said and sat back down on the couch. He obviously didn't mind this much.
Alicia and Angelina left for the wedding planner and George, Oliver, and I all sat down on the couch and stared at the TV.
"Are you and Alicia going to move out after you get married?" I asked George out of nowhere.
"I don't know… I imagine so," George shrugged.
"Aw…that will be lonely" I said and looked around the flat and imagined me as the only one living in it. I had started to conquer my fear of being alone when I lived on my own at the team lodgings, but I knew all of the guys were just down the hall, and eventually Jake spent most of the nights with me...
"It won't be the same without you here Georgie" I said hugging my pillow.
"Oh and you're not going to miss Alicia" George laughed.
"Probably not nearly as much as I'll miss you" This isn't fair. I just got him back and now he's leaving again. Back in Hogwarts I think George was my greatest friend. Like past being my best friend. He was always there to laugh at me when I fell, like sometimes I swear he put a spell on me that told him when I fell just so that he could run to where I was in the school just to point and laugh.
"I was just getting used to living with you too" George laughed.
"Like how you wouldn't be talking to anyone so they would all think that you were dead but I would know because I would always find my shoes behind the toilet" he said and I laughed. I had done that, because in school I would always hide his stuff in weird places just to see how he would react.
"You guys are so weird," Oliver laughed.
"It happens" I shrugged and George snorted.
"I'm so going to just randomly show up at your place all the time though" I said and George laughed.
"It would be weird for you not to," He agreed.
The three of us just sat on the couch for hours just talking about nothing and watching TV. It's these kinds of moments in life that I love the most.
At some point the door burst open and Alicia came flying through it. She ran over and pounced onto George's lap.
"APRIL 4th!" She announced.
"What?" we all said in unison.
"You sir, get to marry this fine ass on April 4th!" She exclaimed, poking George in the chest and finished by leaning into a kiss. Angelina and Oliver whooped.
"That's not even two months from now, how are you planning it all by then?" I asked, trying to wrap my head around it.
"This planner is a saint! Plus, the sooner the better! This way he can't go running off on me again" she laughed.
Angelina popped a bottle of champagne and was pouring us all a glass. Fred came running in with some sort of glittering party poppers going off around him. I was trying so hard to hide my real emotions and play along in the revelries but when my eyes caught Oliver's I could tell I was failing. Or at least that he saw through me. Which if that was the case I wish he would tell me what I was really feeling, because I hardly knew myself.
