Chapter Five
EVE - 1663
I stalked the streets of London, England, hatred and revenge coursing through my empty veins. It had been forty-five years since I was turned and not a day went by that I wasn't nearly bubbling over in anger. Aro, my savior, had suggested getting revenge and I nearly jumped for joy at the thought of tormenting my original accusers. He sent me to Lincolnshire with two other vampires who I had grown to be friends with, but we only found two of my five accusers. We killed them in a bloody massacre, leaving their entrails hanging outside their homes. I tore through their children's flesh as if it were paper and burned their wives alive before finishing the two spineless beasts off. Now we hunted in London, having heard word that the rest of my accusers moved here to join a new church movement. The movement was led by a man going by Pastor Cullen, some Anglican who was hunting werewolves, vampires, and witches. He had a whole group of brainwashed humans following his every word.
One Spring night I was out hunting with Afton, one of Aro's least favorite followers, when we heard a ruckus coming from the sewers. We knew of some crazed vampires that dwelled in the dark confines below us, but they were usually pretty quiet. Afton smiled brightly, "I smell dinner!"
We began making our way to noise when I noticed one of my accusers, Bishop Ellis. "That's him!" I called out to Afton, picking up speed and barreling into Ellis. His body went careening off the path and into a building, causing a sickening crunching noise to emit through the air. That got some attention as a few vampires began crawling out of their shit infested den. Shouts followed them, torches began to illuminate the thick darkness surrounding us. Some of the vampires hissed, one slurred out in a nearly unintelligible dialect "he's ours."
I smiled as Afton came to stand by my side, "listen up men, we can share let me get us started." I walked over to Ellis who was now screaming in pain and ripped his arm off, chucking it into the crowd of famished vampires. "Remember me?" I sang as I continued my game of dismemberment. The vampires behind me cheered loudly as I threw limb after limb into the restless crowd. The mob that had been quickly approaching began to slow down at the sight before them. "Afton," I demanded, moving on to my next victim and encouraging him to do the same.
He followed my lead, rounding up as many humans as he could. We began playing a game of fetch with the daft vampires that swarmed around us like enraged bees. I saw one man slinking off down an ally and decided to catch up with him. "Going somewhere?" I triled circling around him like a hungry shark. He stood in front of me, shaking in fear, trying to muster up a sentence that was more than blubbering.
Snot ran down his now beet red face, tears clung to his thick, dark eyelashes. He reminded me of a baby, yet he was a grown man. In a different set of circumstances he may even be beautiful. I heard Afton calling my name off in the distance, I ignored him and approached the trembling man. "What's your name?" I demanded.
Something in my voice must have scared him straight, for this time when he opened his mouth actual words came out, "Carlisle Cullen…" He began to catch his breath.
"Cullen, like Pastor Cullen?" I was growing more and more impatient as the man raised his eyes to my own and nodded.
"My father is Pastor Cullen," Carlisle said. His back had straightened and somewhere deep inside he had decided to die with bravery and courage instead of crying out like the others.
"He set up this hunt? He's the one who is murdering anything nonhuman?" I began tapping my foot in impatience, I didn't like this new found bravery. I wanted to set him straight. The man only nodded. A stoic look gracing his handsome features. He wiped away at his face, cleaning himself up to a more presentable fashion. "I bet you vie for his praise, you want daddy to love you?" I mocked, growing angry by the second. Though the man had seemed to grow tired of my questioning. He was no longer playing along with my game. "We will see how much daddy loves you after this," I smiled sinisterly and grabbed the man in one quick move. I pulled him close and kissed up his neck before sinking my teeth deep into his tender flesh. I fed for only a few seconds before shoving the man away from me. His bright blue eyes filled with shock as he let out a single sob. His body crumpled to the ground as I sped off to find Afton and finish the game we had started.
