NOTE: Happy Easter! Hope you all have a great (virtual) Easter! Yes, it'll be very different, but at least we can still celebrate that Jesus has risen!
TRIVIA: There's a real-life actor trivia in here. It's a name (not full, part) of someone close to the actor saying it. (there's two of them-that means two chapters!)
?-?
"So, with the remnants that we picked up at the scene, we have a bit more information than we had before." Bobby started. "The bomb was a mishmosh combination of types of bombs. Forensics thinks that's why it blew up before the intended time. We found a timer, and the timer still had 20 minutes left."
"So what made it go off?" Mya asked.
Jack shrugged. "We don't know. It probably has to do with the combinations of types of bombs. The police are going to continue to pick up more pieces and send it to them, so maybe they'll find out more information later."
"So what are we going to do now?" Sue asked.
"We need to figure out who is behind this, and stop them. Stanley, do you have any leads?" Jack asked.
"You could've asked me." Tara mumbled, aggravated that she was second on the technological list now.
"I'm following up on the chat room. I'll have more information for you soon."
"Jack nodded. "Have they made any comments as to who they are?"
Stanley shook his head. "Not in as that many words, no."
"Still, maybe you could make a profile of each user. Try to figure out who is head of it, and when you do, maybe you could add in on the conversation, if possible."
Stanley nodded, then got back to work.
"What should I do?" Tara asked.
Jack stopped and thought for a second. "Why don't you help Stanley? You've worked really well together before."
She frowned, and ran after him. "Jack, I, uh,"
"Yeah?" he asked.
"Can we talk? Outside?"
He nodded, and she followed him in the hall. "What's up?"
Tara looked at the ground and wringed her hands. "It's just, uh, well,"
"Is everything OK?"
"Yes, well, no, uh, I don't know." She responded, grasping at straws.
He nodded, hoping she would find her voice.
"I just can't work with him." With that, she walked away, as far away from the bullpen as she could go without leaving the building.
Jack frowned as he came back into the room. Sue noticed him slowly walking to his desk. "What's wrong?" she asked as he passed her.
"Tara. She's usually not like this."
"What happened?"
"I told her to go work with Stanley, and she told me that she can't work with him, and ran away." He said, still totally confused.
"Would you like to go for a walk with me? I think Sunny needs to relieve herself." Sue asked, getting up.
He nodded, walking over to his coat.
"So, what did you want to talk to me about?" Jack asked once they were outside. It was after 6, so everything was illuminated with the yellow glow of the streetlights.
Sue stared off, unsure how to start the conversation. "What did Tara say when she and Stanley divorced?"
Jack frowned at her question, but then tried to think. "She said that they drifted apart. She said she wanted to be friends, but he wanted a clean break. She said she was fine."
Sue stared at him. "And you believed her?"
He shrugged. "Why shouldn't I?"
"Because finding out the love of your life isn't the love of your life is heartbreaking, whether the two are in agreement or not." She replied.
"But that was 10 years ago. They both have moved on." He replied, still confused.
Sue smiled, her mind somewhere far away from Washington D.C. "Do you remember your first dance, your first date, your first kiss?"
Jack smiled, remembering. "Yeah, my first dance was with Sadie Cullen in third grade. My first date and kiss was when I was 16, with Charlotte Craig."
"Will you ever forget them?" She asked.
He shook his head. "No, they were my firsts, you know?"
Sue nodded. "I do know. My first dance, date, and kiss was with Brian Kotsur in eighth grade." She smiled at her own memory, then got back to her point. "Tara feels the same way about Stanley as we do about Sadie, Charlotte and Brian. You can't just forget him. She probably still loves him, in a way. You need to let her have some space, process this. This is the first time they'd been together in a long time, and with her recent breakup with Caleb, it has to be really hard."
"Yeah, you're right." Jack replied, finally understanding.
"Don't push her places she doesn't want to go. She will just resist further."
Jack nodded. "You're right. Let's get back so we can go home soon. It's been an exhausting day."
Sue smiled. "Yeah. Hopefully Stanley has something for us that will let us leave."
"I hope so too. I hate eminent disasters looming on the horizon, especially when we're not sure who or what is going to happen."
Sue nodded in agreement. "Me too." She said and signed.
?-?
"So, are we allowed to go?" Mya asked as soon as Jack and Sue walked through the doors.
Jack laughed, "Sure. I don't think we will find out anything else tonight."
"Thanks." She muttered as she quickly got up and grabbed her coat. "You ready?" she said to Josh.
"Yeah." He said, also putting on his coat. They then proceeded to walk out of the bullpen.
Bobby smiled, watching the young couple leave. "Looks like some people has a date tonight."
Jack laughed, watching them as well. "I think you're right."
