When Beauty Fades
Chapter 12
"What the hell happened to you?" Damon asked as she came over the next day throwing her coat on the couch and absentmindedly touched her lip where the scar had started to form.
"Your psychotic ex is what happened to me. You should keep her on a shorter leash next time."
"What did she do? Tell me everything."
"She saw me at the bar with my friend and went ballistic on me. If my friend wasn't there to defend me, I don't know how far she would have gone."
"I'll draw up the papers now. She won't get away with hurting you and it will do wonders in our custody case."
"Seriously?" Elena asked anger swelling.
"What? What did I do wrong this time?"
"Are you seriously taking what she did to me to help you win your custody case? Do you even care about me at all?"
"Why not? And don't even start you know I care about you. Why are you acting like so much of a brat?"
"Never mind. I think I'm going to head home."
"If you want. I'll see you tomorrow."
"Maybe." She answered leaving the house not sure what to do now.
"He seriously said that to you?" her friend Caroline asked as Elena slung her gym bag down on the bench working on the combination of her locker so she could put her stuff in to fit in a workout for the day.
"Yep. And if you don't mind, I'd rather not talk about it."
"Alright, so we'll talk about something else. How about we do boxing instead today seeing as how you seem a bit out of practice with that black eye of yours."
"Fuck you." She said throwing a towel at Caroline who laughed and grabbed it.
"Come on, let's go get a workout in before we have to meet Bonnie."
"Fine, but whoever wins gets to buy the dinner and the drinks tonight."
"Fine by me, prepare to lose though."
"I doubt it. "
"Well in that case you'll have no problem putting your money where your mouth is." Caroline smiled as the girls walked to meet their instructor.
"Hey Gilbert. Long time no see." Tyler Lockwood said as Elena forced a smile.
"Lockwood, are you going to train us or are you going to stare at Caroline's ass all session?"
"Nice eye Gilbert, maybe if you were half as good at fighting then you are at talking shit that wouldn't have happened."
"She caught me off guard it won't happen again."
"It better not or else all my training goes to waste and that makes me look bad."
"Let's just get this over with." Elena sighed as her and Caroline got in the rink.
Elena felt herself come alive as her and Caroline boxed feeling matched with her before landing the final punch sending Caroline flying to the floor.
"I guess that means drinks are on you." Elena smiled taking a sip of her water before leaving the rink.
