TRIVIA: Here's a really easy one. Who does Mya think of and text at the end of the chapter?

?-?

After the arrest, almost everyone came back into the office, grabbed their things, and then left to go home. Within 15 minutes, the only people left was Stanley, Jack, and Bobby.

"Well, I don't see any more chatter. I think we got them all." Stanley replied, checking his software one more time before logging off.

"Good, for now, but I don't want that program shut down for a good long time." Jack replied.

"I will. I'll check it every so often after I get back home." He replied as he packed up his computer, and all his supplies. "Which reminds me," he said, checking his watch. "I have a plane to catch in 7 hours. I better get some sleep. I just wish I could say goodbye to Tara." He looked at her empty desk.

Bobby eyed him. "I'll walk you out." He replied, getting up.

"It was good seeing you again." Stanley replied as they walked down the hallway.

"Let's get this one thing straight." Bobby said, stopping. "Tara doesn't need to see you, nor you her. Why do you think she hasn't been to work?" He waited for an answer from the slightly frightened Stanley. "It's because of you."

"And maybe that Caleb guy." Stanley muttered.

"What?"

"Some guy came in the other morning. He said he wanted to talk, and she just ran out, and I didn't see her again. After that, he just stared at me for a few seconds, then left himself."

Bobby's blood was boiling. "How dare he…" he mumbled. Then he softened. "I'm sorry."

"Excuse me?" Stanley asked, shocked.

"I took it out on you. I thought you were the one to make her cry, and really it was him. You're a good guy, you two just didn't work out. But Caleb…" he trailed off, mad. "He seemed good for her, but wasn't. I'm sorry I presumed it was you."

Stanley shrugged. "It's fine, you didn't know." He started walking again, Bobby following.

Bobby slightly smiled. "Thanks for taking it so well."

Stanley shrugged again. "I got used to you guys being overprotective regarding Tara." He paused for a second. "And Sue." He added.

Bobby nodded. "Yeah, we sometimes can take protective to the extreme, can't we?"

Stanley smiled. "Yeah, and they don't like it."

Bobby laughed, remembering some of the times where he was yelled at because he was being slightly overprotective. "They're family, you know? You don't want to see them hurt, both physically, or emotionally."

Stanley nodded as they walked into the elevator. You guys are really a close-knit group. I wish I was like that with my team."

"You're not?"

He shook his head. "Nothing like it. Not even something like that little romance between Jack and Sue. In fact, I think they all hate each other." He replied, thinking.

Bobby laughed. "They can't truly hate each other."

"Oh, it's pretty close."

"We all get agitated at Myles, but at the end of the day, we still love him like family. The annoying person in the family, but still family."

Stanley laughed. "I wish it was like that. What you guys have is special. I don't see it often."

By this time, they had exited the elevator, and was at the front doors.

Bobby smiled. "Well, it was nice working with you again, I hope we get to do it again soon."

Stanley smiled. "It was. I hope so too. Bye."

"Bye." Bobby replied, watching Stanley go through the door, and down the street. He stood there for a few seconds.

"You forgot this upstairs."

Bobby quickly wheeled around to find Jack holding out his coat. He looked at Jack, then at his coat.

"You do want to leave, right? Cause I don't really feel like staying here longer than I really have to. We do that enough."

He nodded, then took his coat.

"You OK?"

Bobby nodded. "Fine."

"You sure?" Jack asked as they walked towards the garage, and their cars.

"Yeah."

"You just seem a little off."

"Just taking a few things in, Sparky."

"Alright." Jack said, then said his goodbyes to his friend as they separated to go to their cars.

?-?

Mya offered to let Jackie stay over by her and Maddy, and she gratefully accepted. She desperately needed a diversion. Maddy invited a few other friends from school as well.

"WATCH MOVIE, PLAY GAME, WHICH?" Maddy signed, then held up a few movies, then pointing to a small pile of games.

"MOVIE." Jackie signed. "ME NEED PEACE, QUIET."

"YOU SURE YOU?" Maddy asked.

Jackie nodded.

Mya smiled from the kitchen, watching the girls have a lively signed conversation while picking out a movie. It was after dinner, and she was going into her room to let the girls have some privacy. Her evening was going to consist of some good music, a little bit of texting with friends, and maybe a bit of writing. And that is what she did until about an hour later when she heard sobbing coming from the bathroom, which was right next to her room. She quickly got up and went into the hall. She saw the bathroom door was ajar, so she flipped the light switch a few times before coming in. She found Jackie sitting on the floor, crying into the corner. She looked up when Mya walked in.

"YOU OK YOU?" Mya signed.

Jackie didn't respond, but watched as Mya lowered herself onto the floor next to her. They stared at each other for a few seconds, then Jackie burst into tears. Mya too her into a hug. "It's gonna be OK." She whispered.

Once her crying softened, Mya pulled away. "ME SAY YOU STORY."

Jackie nodded, wiping her eyes to see clearly.

"PAST MONTH, ME SEE SOMETHING BAD. ME SCARED, HURT. ME CRY, CRY. ONE DAY, ME REALIZE NOTHING GOOD HAPPENS FROM THAT. WHY? ME LIVE INSIDE MY PAIN. ME REALIZE ME NEED LIVE OUTSIDE MY PAIN, NOT INSIDE. ME NEED LEARN AGAIN HOW LIVE OUTSIDE. ALL PEOPLE HAVE PAIN, ALL NEED LEARN HOW LIVE WITH PAIN, HOW? PEOPLE DIFFERENT. YOU WANT LEARN HOW YOU?"

Jackie nodded. "ME HURT DON'T WANT."

Mya nodded, slightly smiling. "OK."

They both looked at each other for a few seconds. Mya knew Jackie's road was going to be a long one. Finding out someone you thought you knew was someone completely different is hard, but she would be by her every step of the way, and so would Maddy, Gaby, and all their Gallaudet friends, not to mention her family. "GO OUT WATCH MOVIE YOU WANT?"

Jackie nodded.

"OK." Mya replied, helping her get up from the bathroom floor, then walking back into the living room together.

"ME JOIN IN?" Mya asked when they arrived by the TV.

Maddy happily nodded, moving slightly so that her sister could sit next to her on the couch.

Mya smiled, watching the girls interact with each other. She saw how gently everyone was trying to cheer Jackie up. It was exactly what she needed. She quickly sent up a prayer that she would meet her true love, someone who wouldn't deceive her, the person she was meant to be with. She smiled at the thought, then quickly pulled her phone out of her pocket and leaned back, texting the first person that she thought of when she thought of true love.
