Once they got off the plane Emma and Regina found a nice little café to have a late lunch in. Regina ordered a scrambled egg with whole wheat toast and Emma got French toast with a side of bacon. "Done being healthy I see." Regina said as Emma's meal arrived. "Well our week has begun and so has my indulging on all the delicious treats in front of me." Emma replied back with a smirk. Regina just raised her eyebrow at Emma and smiled.
They had decided to get breakfast food because even thought it was 3 pm there it felt like morning to them. They enjoyed their delicious food but decided to skip the coffees to try and get on a good schedule for the week.
Once they had finished their food they got a taxi to the tiny house they were staying in. When they got there they were amazed. They had seen pictures of it online but they didn't do this place justice. The surrounding nature was breath taking and secluded. They were at least a mile from any neighbors or other people. When they walked inside it was perfect. A nice little kitchen for them to cook in together. A queen sized bed perfect for all the fun they planned was against a floor to ceiling window that looked out at the beautiful scenery and a beautiful basin tub that would fit them both perfectly.
They settled in and unpacked their things. By the time they were done sunset was nearing. They decided to go on a nice sunset walk around the surrounding property. They interlocked their fingers and reminisced about the years they have spent together. About how they met and the journey their relationship took. About raising Henry together and how great he turned out and now Emily. About all the sacrifices they made and the mistakes that were made but how ultimately in the end they got to this moment. In this moment they were perfectly happy and both of them had everything they could ever want.
They watched the the sun set and as it got dark they headed back to their little home. They changed and got ready for the night. They were both tired, it had been a long day. A fun day but a long day. They settled down in the hammock outside and gazed at the stars. Emma was laying between Regina's legs with her head resting on her stomach while Regina was playing with her hair absentmindedly.
Regina began to read Emma some poetry. Over the years this had become a special thing for them. For them it was an intimate act where they both let their guards down completely. It was something they only did alone and in times like this. It was special. Regina began to read Emma one of her favorite poems.
She was the most beautiful,
complicated thing
I'd ever seen.
A tangled mess
of silky string.
And all I wanted of life,
was to sit down
cross-legged
and untie her knots.

They sat there in the comfortable silence. Each thinking to themselves how happy they were to be there with the other and to have the other to share life with. After a while of this Regina kissed the top of Emma's head and they both got up and headed inside to bed.
They pulled the covers down and climbed into the middle of the bed. Emma hugging Regina this time. Regina pulled her closer and Emma breathed in Regina's unique but subtle apple scent. They blissfully drifted to sleep just like that, with smiles on their faces.
Emma woke up in the morning to the smell of coffee and bacon. "MMMM! That smells good babe!" Regina had woken up about an hour ago and done her morning rituals then come inside to start breakfast.
"Morning Dear. How did you sleep?" Regina asked while pouring two cups of coffee. "I slept pretty good but this bed has nothing on ours at home. What about you? How did you sleep babe?" Emma asked as Regina handed her a cup of coffee. "I slept fantastic after the events of yesterday." Regina said with a chuckle.
Emma got up and got ready for the day giving Regina a quick peck as she passed. They sat down outside to eat breakfast and enjoy the view. "So what do you want to do today?" Regina asked as Emma took a large bite of her bacon. "I was thinking we could go horse back riding. I know you used to love it and haven't been able to do it since the Enchanted Forest. What do you think?"
All at once the emotions of love, fear, hurt and joy flit across Regina's face. Emma could tell she liked the idea but was hesitant about it. Regina loved the idea of riding horses again. She missed it so much. With that however came memories of her as the Evil Queen and her mother. A part of her life she tried to put behind her.
"What's wrong babe? We don't have to if you don't want to." Emma said a little worried. "It's not that. It's just that most memories I have of riding horses are of me as the Queen or include my mother…" Regina said trailing off. "Aw babe… We really don't have to if you don't want to but we could also make some new positive memories with it. It's your choice though." Emma said with a soft smile. Regina smiled and tears started to fall. How did she get so lucky to be Emma's. She did miss it and it would be nice to have good memories to think about when it came to horses. Regina wiped away her tears. "Let's go make some new memories. Thank you Emma, so much."
Emma found some stables about a mile down the road online. They got ready and decided to walk there, it wasn't that far. Once they got there they signed in, paid and got their helmets and horses. They paid for the whole day so that they didn't have to rush and could enjoy the time.
They chose a trail that would take them up into the wooded mountains. Regina quickly fell right back into rhythm. Feeling a part of herself she didn't know was missing come back to her. It wasn't Emma's first time riding but she still wasn't very used to it.
After a while of being on the trail Regina looks back at Emma who had been behind her to the right. She notices that Emma has an uncomfortable almost pained look on her face. "Emma, are you alright? What's wrong?" Regina asked, worry etched on her face. "How does the movement not get to you?" Emma asks sucking air in fast. "What do you mean Emma? It shouldn't be hurting you… Are you in pain?" Regina asked, more worried now. "No…" Emma explained. "The friction is driving me crazy!" Regina couldn't help it and let out a hearty laugh. "Oh Emma, dear. You need to move with the horse not against it." Emma gave her a side glare and Regina giggled.
They continued to ride along the trail stopping at some of the view points and having little conversations. Every now and then Regina would check back to see how Emma was fairing on the horse. She appreciated Emma doing this for her, she knew it wasn't her thing but she was doing it because she know Regina loved it. A while later Regina heard Emma making some strange noises and looked back. All of the sudden Emma's horse bucks a little bit and she slides right off the end into the mud. "Oh come on…" she whines. "Are you alright dear?" Regina asks while laughing uncontrollably. Emma pushes herself up and grabs Regina unexpectedly and pulls her into her muddy arms and throws her in the mud with her. Regina gasps in surprise but reacts quickly and shoves Emma onto her back and straddles her holding her arms above her head. "What the hell Emma?!" Emma pushed back so she was now straddling Regina. "You laughed at me. You deserved it and you know it." However Emma made a big mistake by forgetting to hold down Regina's hands and she got two handfuls of mud right in her face. Emma wiped her face off the best she could before Regina bucked her hips and started to push back. Within seconds they were in an all out mud wrestling match. They fought back and forth for dominance as was common in their relationship. Tackling each other into the mud and trying to smear the other with it. In the end neither was the winner as they were both caked in mud, but at least they were both laughing up a storm.
They hopped back on Regina's horse so Emma felt more comfortable and led Emma's behind. When they made it back to the stables the owner gave them a funny look and they responded in unison. "Don't ask." shared a look and chuckled.
They made their way home. It was about a mile walk but they didn't mind, it was peaceful. They rinsed each other off with the hose outside so that they wouldn't track any mud inside and stripped their wet clothes off on the porch. Regina drew a hot bath for the both of them while Emma decided to light some candles and make the home cozy.
They both climbed into the bath and settled into the soothing hot water. They washed each other off and made sure they were well cleaned before Regina settled down to relax between Emma's legs leaning back against her.
