When Rose Petals Fall

Chapter 4

The next morning as tears streamed down her face from yet another nightmare, Elena had determined that she had had enough. She could no longer go on pretending that everything was okay when she knew for a fact that she was falling apart. She needed to tell someone what had happened, and she needed to tell them now. Starting with the two people she had trusted the most in this world. Her parents.

Looking at her broken and bruised body one more time, she ran her fingers over the black and already yellowing bruises on her body determined to make him pay for what he had done to her. She knew if she let him get away with this that he would just do it again and she wouldn't let that happen. She couldn't let that happen.

Gathering up her courage, Elena did not put her clothes on like she had intended to when she first thought of this, but rather she walked out of her room in just her bra and panties making her way down the stairs praying that Jeremy was in bed or already at school. The last thing she wanted was for him to see this. Regardless, she kept going until she was standing in the kitchen. Jeremy was no where in sight, but her parents were as they huddled together like two lovers should making breakfast as their backs were turned to Elena completely oblivious to the fact that she was standing right behind them. Why wouldn't they look at her? Wasn't it a parent's job to know when their child was hurting?

"Mom? Dad?" She croaked out her voice breaking.

"What is it baby?" her mother asked finally looking at her and dropping the plate when she saw what she looked like.

"I need to talk to you." She quivered, a tear sliding down her cheek as she finally let it all out.

"And when did you say this occurred?" the doctor asked as he checked Elena's hips making her wince.

"Last night." She answered her voice hollow.

"We should still be able to do the kit for evidence. Have you contacted the police yet?" the doctor asked looking at her parents instead of talking to her.

"We just barely figured this out ourselves." Her mother answered tears still streaming down her face.

"I'll call them in the meantime does Elena have someone that she could talk to that she could confine in?"

"We're her parents. She can confine in us." Her mother answered sounding defensive.

"I think it'll be beneficial to Elena's health if you set her up with a medical professional to help deal with her trauma. I know you're her parents and you just want to protect her from all of this, but sometimes you can't handle everything. There's no shame in needing help from outside sources."

"We'll consider it, for now we're more concerned with our daughter's physical health." Her dad responded squeezing her mother's hand in reassurance.

"Completely understandable. I'll be back with the results as soon as we run a few more test."

"I want to." She replied as both of her parents looked at her after the doctor left.

"Want to what sweetie?" her mother asked.

"I want to talk with a therapist. I want to tell them my story. I don't want to suffer with this alone anymore."

"We'll figure it out sweetheart. For now, let's concentrate on the here and now."\

"Okay."

It took well over an hour for the doctor to come back, but when he came back the results were just as she expected. and now everything for her family would change forever. She just hoped it wouldn't end up ruining them for good.
