A NIGHT ALONE. BY SUPERMASTER51.
NOTE: I do not own DC Comics, nor any of its characters. But if it were, it would have already made a romance between Batman and Wonder Woman. Now, this story is not set in any known universe, so don't tell me I was wrong about the comic.
Synopsis: Diana takes over Gotham City for the night without anyone's help. What can go wrong?
Watchtower. 11:00 A.M.
Batman's boots echoed through the halls of the Watchtower. Batman was heading to the dining room and hoping he could have a cup of coffee that would wake him up and alert him for at least a few more hours. The hallway was empty, to everyone's fortune, as no one wanted to run into an enraged Batman and have to prove his anger, especially in his current state where he would show the worst attitude, lacking in compassion for anyone who crossed his path. on his way, except for Alfred.
Opening the door, Superman and Flash rose from their seats and saluted like obedient soldiers to the dreaded Batman. Because Batman had been in the Watchtower for the past six days, they had already witnessed his ruthless attitude one hundred percent and did not want to be in front of him. Flash, as always, did not want to ask Batman anything for fear that he would launch him into space the moment he let his guard down. With Kal, even though he wanted to know what was happening to Batman, he didn't want to ask him anything either, but he had a slight idea that it was what made him sulk, but he wasn't going to tell him because, with his sulkiness, you would only get slapped with a kryptonite rock.
Batman went to the table where the coffee pot was and made a triple coffee. Caffeine would keep you away from your problem for at least a while. Batman quickly drank his cup of coffee and made his way to the exit door, but turned to reveal his teeth gnashing with the great anger he felt.
"Let's go to the meeting, now," Batman said almost screaming. Superman and Flash raced to the conference room, where Hawkgirl, Aquaman (aka Arthur Curry), Martian Manhunter, and the two Green Lanterns Hal Jordan and John Stewart were already waiting. As always, Hal Jordan and John Stewart struck up a conversation, while Hawkgirl was talking to Martian Manhunter and Aquaman was bored, he already wanted to return to Atlantis.
Everyone was shocked when Superman and Barry came at full speed, causing everyone to already sit in their respective places and stop talking. However, they knew that someone else was missing, and this would surely make Batman furious, but distracted by something other than with them.
When Batman arrived, everyone had their eyes on him. His ruthless demeanor over the past few days had been a great addition to the fear they already had of him despite being the only member in the league who had no powers.
"Diana has not arrived," Batman said through clenched teeth still in anger.
"I don't think it should take too long," Superman said.
"Don't try to defend her! Punctuality is no excuse for these meetings! Flash is usually the one who's always late, but she's not! So tell her to get there right now or I will force her to do the surveillance shifts for two uninterrupted weeks!" Batman said.
"Wow, take it easy, Batman. Your girlfriend is not going to… "Shayera tried to say. She was like Diana's younger sister, and she knew that because of the constant missions that Diana had with Batman, she was in love with him, and she knew that Batman cared a lot about Diana since they were always together in the same mission and whenever one of them was in danger, either Diana saved him or Batman saved her.
His most recent example was in a fight against Gorilla Grodd, where Batman battled Gorilla Grodd on the ledge while Diana and Superman reduced Grodd's mind control machine to rubble, while the other members battled their group of gorillas. Although Batman managed to remove the helmet that Grodd always used to control the minds of people close to him, Grodd managed to tear off his cloak and threw him into the void. Diana saw this and flew to save him. One of many samples on how much they cared about each other.
"I already made it clear that she is not my girlfriend!" Batman replied approaching Hawkgirl. When he got to her, he brought his face close to her to keep yelling at her. "And the next time you insinuate that she is my girlfriend, I will hide your mace in such a perfect place that you will not find it for the rest of your life! And that goes for everyone! Diana had better hurry if she doesn't want me to hide her lasso in a place so remote that she would never find." He said the latter before sitting down in his chair.
"Even if you hide it in the most forgotten place in the world, I could find it, Bruce." Said a soft female voice referring to Batman by his real name.
"Not true, Diana, and now you'd better sit down if you don't want me to destroy the machine that makes ice mochas," Batman said threateningly.
"That doesn't work for me, Bruce. And if you do that, your Batmobile will be reduced to a pile of rubble" Diana said crossing her arms.
Bruce or Batman was more enraged now. Due to his problem, and now with the situation with the woman in front of him, he was more than enraged. He hated how this woman never recoiled from his fury and intimidating presence. However, he still felt an urgent need to push her against the wall and crash his lips against hers. But, as always, staying intimidating was important.
Diana found this quite annoying. She had last seen Bruce four days ago, but when she spoke to him about how everything was in her city, but what she got was a great speech full of screams that she cannot be picky and get into the life of whom He wants to and ended up threatening to lock her in a place to stop her interfering and then left. Then she had discovered that he had been in the Watchtower for five hours straight because he was trying to solve a case for the league, something very exaggerated since Batman had never been in the Watchtower for so long. She hoped her attitude had already improved by today, but she was wrong, and she was determined to help him resolve this conflict he had, but for now, she was struggling with not hitting him against the wall at the time.
"Do that, and you won't see your uniform anywhere when you wake up tomorrow," Bruce said.
"You better not provoke me again, Bruce, or I will do serious damage to the Batcave." Diana threatened.
"Well, well, they already made it clear," Superman said opposing the two of them and taking Diana to her chair. Batman turned to his. "Batman, we'd better start the meeting if you want to get back to Gotham City quickly." Batman nodded and the meeting began.
Shayera couldn't help but smile, as did John Stewart. They knew Batman was in love with Diana, but he wasn't going to admit it easily, but their fights were quite funny because of how Diana was never affected by Batman's stony demeanor, but they were a little worried about Batman's grumpy mood that seemed to increase every day.
Everything went smoothly during the meeting. Everyone was talking about league funding about Batman and how they only needed to replace a few components for the various machines in the Watchtower because of the carelessness and childishness of everyone in the league.
"Well, that's it. Does anyone want to add anything?" Superman asked. Batman got up from his chair and headed for the exit.
"Remember, we are here to be serious, not to create childish rumors. If someone does that again, they will never see their uniforms and/or weapons, because they will be hidden in a place where no one can find them" Batman threatened and left.
Everyone else except Arthur went to the dining room, Arthur decided to go back to Atlantis. John and Hal had coffee and left. Hawkgirl ate a toast and left, but not before Flash told her he would see her later. Meanwhile, Martian Manhunter grabbed one of his packets of cookies that he adored. Kal remained seated and drank a glass of water. Diana decided to ask Kal or Martian Manhunter what was wrong with Bruce.
"What's wrong with Bruce, Kal?" Diana asked him calling Superman by his real name. "He is angry and paranoid. Or well, more than normal" She said his observation somewhat distracted by thinking about how this was much more than Bruce normally did.
"I do not know," Kal replied. "I've wanted to ask him what worries him so much, but you know he always likes to keep everything a secret."
"I read his mind a little bit, and I saw that he is too stressed right now because he hasn't slept. His mind is drained and many things he was momentarily thinking he completely forgot a few seconds later" J'onn said.
"Has he not slept?" Diana asked him. J'onn only shook his head. "Didn't you see why?"
"You know that getting into Batman's mind is not a pleasant thing," J'onn said. His last experience trying to do that was something he never wanted to discuss with anyone.
"But is fun," Barry added, getting into the conversation. "Well, not all the time. It's scarier than you think, but two days ago he ate coffee beans that he served in a cup, and yesterday while you were gone, he spent an hour questioning the coffee maker. It was so funny."
"And haven't they tried to fix it or tell him to sleep?" Diana asked a little disgusted that her friends weren't helping Bruce with his sleep problem.
"I better go. You know it's better not to talk to him about anything when he's in that frame of mind" Flash said leaving the dining room leaving Kal and Diana alone.
"You know what Bruce is like, Diana. I tried to talk to him and he ended up threatening to wake me up in a kryptonite cage if I didn't leave him alone" Kal answered Diana's question.
"But he needs help. We can't let it go on like this" Diana said.
"There is nothing we can do to get him to follow our recommendations, Diana. It is as if his state of mind is a giant kryptonite rock that I cannot break. So it is better not to interfere. Now, if you don't mind, Bruce is going to lock me up in that cage if I don't go on my watch shift" Kal said going to the monitor room to do her surveillance turn, leaving Diana alone, who was already forming a plan in her mind to leave Bruce.
"I care about Batman, Diana, but you know he doesn't like that kind of thing. There is no way he will let us help him with something as simple as that" J'onn said getting up from his chair. "See you later" He said goodbye.
"See you later J'onn." Diana said thinking of her phrase "There is no way he will let us help him with something as simple as that." Of course, there is, Diana thought. She had a plan that she was going to execute later.

Wayne Manor, 21:00
Batman continued to work on his cases in Gotham City. Even though the Penguin was imprisoned, other villains such as Killer Croc, the Joker, SportsMaster, Deadshot, Babyface, Solomon Grundy, Bane, and other low-profile criminals were on the loose in the city. Because of that, he had guarded the city every night, but his schedule as Bruce Wayne also required him to be solving problems with Wayne Enterprises every day and maintaining his reputation as a philanthropic playboy. It was one of the most difficult weeks he had ever had as Batman and as Bruce Wayne.
"Master Bruce" Alfred, Bruce's butler said in a low voice as if he too was exhausted, but unlike Bruce, he was more tired than furious. He was more concerned about Bruce than he was, since if Bruce spent another night like Batman in this condition, he didn't know if he was going to make it out of this.
"What's up, Alfred?" Bruce said annoyed. The last thing he needed was for him to interrupt him at a critical moment of investigation.
"I came to tell you that the suit is already fully equipped. Remember I've had to… "He stopped to let out a long yawn. "… Replace several plates of the suit that have been damaged in the last days due to their condition. I would recommend that you try to sleep a few minutes before you go to…"
"You know sleeping isn't important now, Alfred" Bruce snapped at him. "I'm not going to sleep until after tonight. And don't try to tell me otherwise. I know you want me to sleep, but with all the criminals free, this will not be the right time to be asleep while they are destroying the city."
At that, the doorbell rang. Although Alfred did not like that he had an interruption in his conversation to convince Bruce to sleep, he had to attend to the visit.
"I will attend you quickly, Master Bruce," Alfred said leaving quickly. A wise decision, and that Bruce was going to tell him to attend to the view quickly. Alfred knew that a visit at this time of night was strange, Selina Kyle was in a cell in a prison, Master Grayson and Miss Gordon would not return until tomorrow, and no girl Bruce would take to a party tonight. Alfred opened the door and was surprised to see Wonder Woman in front of him wearing his uniform, from his blue pants to his chest armor. "Good evening, Miss Diana."
"Hi Alfred. Good to see you." Diana responds.
"The pleasureis mine, Miss Diana," Alfred said. "But now I must ask, what are you doing here? I mean, it's good to see you again, but no one comes at this time, and Master Bruce didn't say anything to me" He yawned after finishing the sentence.
"Well, I came because I'm a little worried about Bruce's behavior in the past few days," Diana replied looking with great interest at the tired Alfred. "He has been too angry and explosive in temper for the past few days. I would like to know what's wrong with him."
"Not a big deal, Miss Diana," Alfred told him. "Quite simply, the duties of the Justice League, being Batman and a playboy billionaire have taken its toll on him this week. He has not slept in seven days. And surely you already noticed, but I have only been able to sleep half of what Master Bruce has not slept in these seven days."
"And didn't you tell him to sleep?" Diana asked her, but she already knew the answer.
"Of course I recommended that he do it, but you know how he is. He won't want to sleep until his patrol is over if the League doesn't call him again for another mission" Alfred replied.
Guilt emerged on Diana. She felt guilty about Bruce's sleepless state. She could have prevented him from going to the Watchtower for at least a day and giving him time to sleep, but she didn't want to or wasn't there to help him. She felt guilty, but it was partly his. She also knew what Bruce was like and did his duty, even when his legs were broken. However, he was surprised that neither Dick nor Barbara helped Bruce throughout the week.
"And why haven't Dick or Barbara helped him?" Diana asked.
"Master Grayson and Miss Barbara would have helped, but the two traveled to different cities of the country for personal reasons and will not return until the next day" Alfred replied. "That is why Master Bruce has made it even more difficult to handle the situation alone, but we know he will not admit it."
After hearing that phrase, Diana knew that she must execute this plan if she wanted to help Bruce and Alfred. Bruce wasn't going to go fight crime in Gotham tonight, but for that, he needed to put him to sleep. Diana took the first step.
"Is he in the Batcave, Alfred?" Diana asked.
"Yes, Miss Diana. And he's about to go on patrol" Alfred replied. "But I would recommend that you don't come down. Not sleeping for more than a week, Master Bruce doesn't even tolerate me for more than two minutes."
"I can handle it, Alfred, thanks. I will be back here in no time" Diana said going to the clock, opening the entrance and entering the Batcave. Diana descended the cold steps of the cave and saw again the famous Batcave, full of destructive artifacts that the great Batman confiscated from the most dangerous criminals in Gotham City during their toughest battles. She had been surprised the first time she had been in the cave.
The first time she was there, she was already beginning to feel something more for him than a certain friendship and admiration for being the only member of the League who had no powers, and when she saw the architectural wonder that is the Batcave, she was amazed more and he even wondered what that man does not do. Your answer to that question would be answered soon.
Diana then approached the Baticomputer, in which was a chair, and sitting there was the famous Batman typing furiously on the computer. Time to act, Diana thought as she walked quickly to the computer, but when he stood behind her, Batman spoke furiously.
"You have nothing to do here, so you'd better go back to the Watchtower if you don't want your room to be closed for a month" Batman threatened while typing on the computer.
"I haven't said anything Bruce, and you already want me away like you always do whenever you're in a bad mood," Diana said turning the chair, causing Batman to stop typing on the computer and stick his arms into those of the chair. Batman looked at the petulant Amazon's face again, knowing that she intended to help him with this matter, but he was not going to do anything of what she told him, even though he was dying to kiss her at that moment, his mission was more important.
"I know you come here to tell me to fall asleep and to leave Gotham City unprotected for one night. As you know, Dick and Barbara will not come until tomorrow. And Gotham is my city, and what I'm saying here is law, so let me do my job if you till want to have frozen mochas in the Watchtower" Bruce said. Diana laughed a little. She was staying calm as she wrapped her arm around Bruce's neck, while the other took her lasso very slowly.
"Bruce, I didn't come for that," Diana said sitting on Bruce's legs. If Bruce had been more rested, he would have pulled her away, but since he was in a delicate state, he didn't move a muscle. He couldn't act that fast this time. "I think you need some relaxation before your patrol" He told her as he wrapped his other arm around her neck, moving his lasso very carefully.
"You know I must protect Gotham City tonight," Bruce said without being able to move yet.
"I know," Diana told him, wrapping the bow around Bruce's neck. "But being tied with the Lasso is the only thing that will stop you. Now sleep" Diana said. The Lasso flashed and Bruce, despite being seen fighting the lasso magic, succumbed about five seconds later.
Diana smiled and removed Bruce's bow. Then she carried it and carried it back to the mansion. When he returned, Alfred saw Diana carrying Bruce. Alfred was a little scared and asked Diana:
"What happened?"
"He is fine, Alfred. He will be asleep for a long time" Diana replied. "I will take him to his bed."
"Miss Diana, if you put Master Bruce to sleep, then who's going to patrol the city?" Alfred asked, following Diana to Bruce's room.
"Easy, Alfred. The league doesn't know I'm here. I told them I'd take the night off, so they won't come. I will be the one to patrol the city" Diana said.
"With all due respect, are you serious?" Alfred asked Diana as she laid Bruce on her bed very carefully. "Master Bruce doesn't like anyone in the league, not even you, patrolling the city."
"I will Alfred. And if neither Dick nor Barbara can patrol today, then I will do it myself. At Themyscira we were trained to defeat any enemy. I have faced Darkseid and Ares. I don't see why this should be a problem" Diana told him.
"Don't underestimate Gotham City, Miss Diana," Alfred said. "Once Master Grayson wanted to take over, he ended up with a broken arm and put makeup on his face for a week until his bruises healed. Furthermore, even though many enemies of the city are in prison, the Joker and other enemies are on the loose."
"Trust me, Alfred. I can handle it for one night. Don't underestimate me either," Diana told him. She was already beginning to despair with this conversation.
"I don't, Miss Diana. I will let you patrol tonight. But if he's going to patrol, then promise me you'll wear a bat suit like him. If the enemies of the city find out that someone from the league is patrolling the city without Batman, then an even worse fight could begin. And I promised Master Bruce that I wouldn't let that happen" Alfred explained.
This stopped Diana in her tracks. She had not contemplated that if Batman did not fight every night, the criminals would know that he was gone, so they would no longer be afraid of someone going after them. So it was better for her to wear a bat suit if she wanted to patrol Gotham tonight to help Bruce.
"Thanks for saying it, Alfred." Diana thanked him. "But in what costume am I going to patrol?"
"Follow me to the cave," Alfred replied with a yawn.
The two went to the cave and saw the showcase where the Batman costume was, but that was not the costume they wanted. Alfred went to the bat computer and pressed a series of buttons, causing the suitcases to separate and reveal a confusedly armed suit. He had a woman's torso, a man's arms, a woman's boots and pants, and he had a woman's mask.
"Why should I wear a suit like that?" Diana asked. That she had to wear such a poorly made costume was incredibly strange and she didn't like it at all. "I mean, the suit doesn't look good."
Don't worry, Miss Diana. These are only replacement plates or accessories. They are not suits that were previously used" Alfred explained.
"Can't I just wear Barbara's costume?" Diana asked.
"You can't, Miss Diana," Alfred told him. "Miss Gordon is two sizes smaller than you, and if you wear the uniform then we would have to modify it, and I don't think you would like to explain to Master Bruce that you cost him a good suit for that."
Diana thought for a moment that she could wear Batgirl's costume if she made Alfred sleep, but she was friends with Barbara, and although she could beat Bruce in an argument like this, time was running too fast. So she, for the first time, decided not to win this argument and put on the suit, but obviously, she took off her Amazon armor first in the locker room.
When she came out dressed in the bat suit, Diana did feel quite uncomfortable, because the suit was a little tight from the boots, and the mask limited her sight a little. It felt strange not wearing his armor the first time to fight someone. She approached Alfred. She wanted to do it alone.
"Well, Alfred. I'm going. If you want to go to rest. You need it." Diana said.
"I can not," Alfred said, causing Diana to have to wear her tie again. "You don't know how to patrol Gotham City, and you will need my help to..." He said before Diana wrapped her Lasso around him and ordered him to sleep. Alfred fell asleep in a second and Diana took him up to another room so he could sleep. Now, she was going to patrol Gotham City, with no help from anyone.

Gotham City 23:00
Patrolling Gotham City was something that Diana saw as very similar to all the patrols she had done with her league mates in previous years. It was incredibly boring and tedious for her, but it could be avoided as long as there was a conversation with her partner, but this time she was alone, and if she called someone from the league, she knew they would go to Gotham, and this did. It would bring trouble for everyone here.
Seeing that everything was so calm in the city, Diana wondered if she needed to patrol tonight. Well, he arrived at ten at night, and an hour had passed. Diana continued to fly for a few minutes before she heard a bank alarm go off, so she went, and reached the roof of the building that was in front of the bank, where she saw some thieves who were running away in their car with a patrol chasing them, but the patrol's wheels were shot.
Diana went after the robbers' car. She flew to the window of the latter and managed to break it and remove the criminals. So she knocked them out and left them next to the patrol, where the cops thanked her but asked what happened to Batman.
"He's fine, I'm just defending the city tonight," said Diana. Thanks to her sharp ears, Diana was able to hear that someone was going to shoot them, so she shot down the police.
Diana saw where the shots were coming from and saw that they were coming from an enemy she had run into in a league affair before, and this was the best shooter in the entire city: Deadshot. Diana flew towards him but taking a different course to avoid him noticing that she was not human. Before reaching him, Diana thought it would be better to tell him to surrender.
"Give up, Deadshot," said Diana. Deadshot turned around and was surprised that it wasn't Batman who was watching him.
"Well, well, well. Who is here? You are not Batman, "said Deadshot.
"I am not Batman, I defend Gotham tonight, and that means defending it from criminals like you" Diana answered.
"No one defends this city other than Batman. Oh stop, I think you did him a favor so you could defend the city. If you do me the favor you did, I could give up," Deadshot said as, despite wearing a mask, it was obvious that he was looking at Diana's body that was hiding behind that somewhat fitted uniform.
"I don't do that kind of favors. Now give up or you will be hurt," Diana threatened.
"You can't beat me, woman," said Deadshot.
Diana just ran towards him, and he shot her. Diana ran in a zigzag direction and her bracelets blocked all the shots, but the suit covered them, so she grabbed Deadshot by the wrists and threw him to the ground, then she took off his pistols and hit him on the head, knocking him unconscious.
"I warned you that you should give up," said Diana.
"Fight me, oh you cowardly sewer rat," said a voice he had never heard before. Diana turned around and saw a guy dressed as a certain character who had read once, something called "Musketeer" since he had his cape, his green shirt, a hat with a feather, pants, and boots in the medieval style and a sword.
He had no idea that Gotham even had criminals masquerading as historical figures, Diana thought.
Diana approached the musketeer and tried to take the sword from him, but like Deadshot, he saw that she was not Batman, so he backed away.
"I am surprised that a maiden like you is dedicated to fighting in Gotham. But don't worry, I am respectful to a lady. Goodbye, "said the musketeer being respectful, but Diana was annoyed that he refused to fight her, and he was a criminal, so she simply jumped and stood in front of him, and kicked him and again ran towards him and knocked him out.
"Wow, I must applaud for being the only chivalrous criminal I have met," Diana said as she got up.
"Don't worry, he is the only gentleman in this city," A male voice said. Diana turned around and saw five criminals. One was a man in a baseball catcher uniform, a strong man in a clown mask, a man dressed as a moth, a man with a babyface, and a man with the appearance of a zebra.
Diana only shook her head before beginning the fight, she hit the zebra man, but dodged the baby-faced man's bullets, but was hit by a giant football that came from the man in the catcher outfit. Diana got up and hit the baby-faced man, then jumped up and kicked the zebra man who had gotten back to his feet, but she wasted no time and landed on his face, knocking him unconscious, there were four left. Diana went for the man dressed as a catcher, but he threw bowling balls at her while the baby-headed man shot her and the clown went after her; Diana rolled on the ground and knocked him down by kicking him in the legs and later hit him on the back; then she went to the baby-faced man, grabbed him and threw himself against the catcher-clad man. The man dressed as a moth shot him with a sticky mixture that she dodged, but he quickly flew towards her, but she jumped and kicked him in the back, which is where his propeller was, breaking it down. She got up and saw that the catcher was still conscious, so she went to him, but he created two soccer balls and threw them to her, but Diana caught them and using her great strength, she threw them at him and left him unconscious.
Diana got up and breathed a sigh of relief. This had resulted in a productive experience for his combat training. She did not expect these criminals to be somewhat rough and chivalrous, the latter speaking only for the musketeer. At that time, she knew that these criminals had to be taken to the police station, so she put them all in a ball and took them flying towards the police station she made sure that there was nobody there, so she left them lying and knocked on the rooftop door before leaving.
Diana was ready to go back to the mansion but heard a building alarm. She flew up and landed near the building where the alarm went off. He saw that the building was burning with flames. But thanks to studying the buildings on many of her league missions, she knew it was strange that the fire system was turned off. She concentrated again and used her sharp ears to find out if anyone was inside the building. She heard a propeller inside the building, so she jumped into the building with a great leap away, and since she knew where the propeller sound was coming from, she jumped to the floor where a certain propeller was located. She looked around and saw a man wearing a suit that covered his entire body, plus the propeller he was wearing was custom-made and hand grenades attached to his suit jacket; that and that he had a mask that covered his entire head that was made flameproof.
Diana ran towards him but being as stealthy as possible. She wished she had her sword or lasso. This patrol itself was frustrating. She was fighting without her most reliable weapons, and she was close to stopping the arsonist, until he turned around, and shot him with the flamethrower but because he wanted to burn the building, he had not realized that she was there until he saw a woman wearing a bat suit who had dodged the blast of fire.
"Well, well, what do we have here?" Asked the arsonist. "You are not the Bat"
"I'm not, but you should worry about what I'm going to do," Diana said, putting herself in a combat position.
"I am Firefly, and neither Batman nor any woman will extinguish my flame," said Firefly throwing two grenades at Diana. Diana dodged them and Firefly took the opportunity to shoot another burst of fire that she had to dodge and flew out of the building. Diana went after him and jumping around all the buildings so as not to lose track of her since if she flew, she was going to realize that she was not a normal woman. Firefly saw that Diana was still following him, so he stopped and by fighting with her, he would further satisfy his insane obsession with fire, so he threw more incendiary grenades at her than she had to dodge again, but again he shot him with his flamethrower. She dodged it for a few seconds, but she was getting fed up. She couldn't believe that this man with less intellect than Barry was making her dance in a somewhat humiliating way. So she realized that if she ran enough through the tallest buildings, she would make a huge leap that would not arouse suspicion.
So Diana, before another of the incendiary grenades detonated, hurled it at her, clouding her view a bit. She began to jump to the other buildings, worse Firefly shot fire again. Being someone quick and agile when trained on an island of female warriors, she has no problem running with all her strength. Now reaching the highest point, she leaped toward Firefly, who threw grenades into the air, but she dodged them one by one before blocking the fire with her bracelets. Upon reaching Firefly, she began repeatedly hitting him on the head. Firefly tried to use the flamethrower, but she stopped him, took it off, hit him with it, and dropped it to the ground (the flamethrower).
Firefly finally used its thruster to fly uncontrollably to get rid of it. But, since Diana had strength over human, and he didn't know it, she grabbed onto him and ripped off several pieces of the thruster, causing the thruster to go wild and crash into the City church. Diana tore off the thruster hit him repeatedly, knocking him unconscious. Diana grabbed the unconscious Firefly and flew off to the police station, repeating the routine of knocking on the rooftop door and left again before the police found Firefly unconscious and with its mask ground from Diana's blows.
Diana again put herself in another building far from the police station. The confrontation against Firefly did turn out to be quite hard, but he had managed it, with some difficulty, but he did it. But she hoped this was the last, but she saw an explosion near the lake.
Diana flew up and landed near the lake. She was waiting for something, so she used her sharp ears again to hear if someone was going to attack her. Fortunately, he heard four thugs, all four had submachine guns. She blocked the bullets, approached them and took the weapons from two thugs, and tore them apart with her hands, and then she used half of the broken machine guns to hit the other two armed thugs. Diana then went towards the other two, who now had pistols, but they were not a problem for her since she jumped towards one and kicked him up with one and then grabbed the other's neck and threw him to the ground; Then she punched him hard in the face, knocking him unconscious.
Diana got up and sighed again. This was different compared to fighting with the league or what he had to face in Themyscira. She saw the guards and recognized the purple and green color the thugs had on their uniforms. His thoughts were interrupted when he heard someone step foot trying to be silent.
"Curious, someone told me that Batsy would come here at this time of night, not a bati-silly" said the man.
"I'm surprised you dared to show your face, Joker," Diana said. She already knew him after a mission where he had partnered with Lex Luthor in that one he almost managed to blow up the Hall of Justice. That and that he had gained not a very good reputation after he managed to beat his other companions using his tricks and unpredictable plans, such as when he defeated Hal Jordan using the gas of laughter and boxes with clowns within it, which de-concentrated and caused his defeat.
"I am the most loved comedian in the whole city, Bati-silly, I never miss a show," He said something annoying.
"Well then, give up and you can put on a show in Arkham," Diana said, putting herself in combat position.
"I came here expecting to fraternize with Batsy, but I think you will serve to bring him here," said the Joker, throwing a doll at Diana. Diana caught it and examined it before it exploded in her hand, knocking her back. "Wow, I never thought a girl could be this tough, not even the Bat-girl is that strong," he said before throwing explosive dentures at her. Diana simply destroyed them with strong kicks, throwing them elsewhere. "It's time for the grand finale," he said, throwing Diana a colorful ball. Diana dodged it and saw it was just an exploding ball of confetti, but the joker shot her with a bazooka before she could react. Fortunately, the suit was almost unharmed, and she was fine. "As I said before, you are what I need to attract Bats," The Joker said to the unconscious Diana with a manic laugh. The most ironic thing about this is that Batman was not going to appear that night.
XXX
2:00 A.M.
Diana woke up, and she was thankful that she was still wearing her mask, but it was tied with a kind of rope that covered her entire torso. She moved her eyes to analyze the environment she was in and saw that it looked like she was locked in a large cubicle that was filled with missiles that had the face of the Joker stamped on the tips. Just like there were other bombs and artifacts of the Joker, but what intrigued him most was seeing a piano on a platform that was a little lower than the place where she was tied. She thought that if she was silent, the Joker was not going to realize that she had woken up, but from previous experience two hours ago, she knew that the Joker was smarter than usual.
"You know, Bati darling, I wanted to tell Batsy this, but since he hasn't arrived yet, I will tell you, hoping he will hear and come," said the Joker as he turned his back on him and played some keys on the piano. "Gotham has become very limiting, so now I intend to spread my chaos. With this big floating gift box, I will be able to spread the chaos from city to city, and that starts right now "the Joker said going to a lever that was a few meters from the piano he pulled it. Suddenly the box opened only from the ceiling and a giant head in the appearance of the Joker came out of the box, which began to float above the city. "Not only will I wreak havoc, but the same people in every city will die of laughter thanks to my missiles," he said, giving another manic laugh.
Diana moved her hand inside the tether and began to force against the tether to break it but she knew that she had to keep the Joker busy so he didn't realize he was trying to break free. Luckily for her, the Joker spoke first.
"And now that you've heard this plan, I hope Batsy comes here to fight and lose to me once and for all," he said screaming and showing impatience.
"Keep saying that, Joker, but Batman won't come to stop you," Diana said even with an arrogant attitude.
"You are not funny, Bati-silly. Batsy would never let me just roam the city "The Joker said somewhat indignantly.
"That is not true. He knows when to stop you and when not to, and he knows that tonight it is better not to stop you" Diana said feeling the bond was beginning to ease.
"Are you telling me that Batsy was bored with me?" The Joker asked concerned.
"It could be said. Sometimes it gets boring to fight with you from time to time "said Diana, this time being spontaneous because this conversation was already tiring her.
"Oh, I don't think so, girl. I think you're just distracting me to target me for Bats to come and arrest me. Do you think I'm a fool?" He asked pulling out his gun.
"No, sadly you are not stupid, but Batman will not come, and I am the one who will take you to jail," Diana said breaking the tie into thousands of pieces. She leaped at the Joker and deflected his pistol and tossed it aside. The Joker's minions went to help him by getting on the same platform. Diana released the Joker and began to deal with the minions. The Joker took the opportunity to start the show, so he pressed a few keys on the piano, and the head that was blowing up the giant box began to shoot bullets through the eyes.
Diana knocked out the Joker's minions and put her hands on his shoulders. The Joker pulled out his electric bell to ring it, but she grabbed him by the arm and threw him downstairs. The Joker fell hard to the ground, but he got up and grabbed a machine gun and shot Diana. She started to jump from side to side evading bullets, which worked as several bullets hit the keyboard. Making the box drift off course back to the lake. The Joker continued to shoot her until she landed on him, crushing him to the ground. But the Joker used his electric bell against her again, this time it did work and Diana began to feel the electricity running through her body, but she put her two bracelets together with what little mobility she had left and the Joker was launched against a missile. He pulled a pistol out of his sleeve and shot Diana, but since that bullet was very big, it bounced off and headed towards an explosive rope denture, activating it and going towards more dentures, that caused a chain reaction in which all the dentures went to different places in the box and exploded. So the thugs and the Joker fled through the different openings in the box created by the explosions using parachutes they had for emergencies.
Diana made a big jump and got to the Joker, but he used his gas of laughter, but she released him and walked away from him to land on the grass. Diana ran to the Joker, but her thugs again fought her. Fortunately, they were not a big problem for her. With the thugs out of action, she went to the Joker, who again took another submachine gun and shot him. Diana dodged the bullets, but the Joker shot her with her acid-spraying rose, but unsurprisingly, she dodged it and came at him, plucking the flower and hitting him on the head. The Joker giggled a lot before pulling out a pistol with a boxing glove, but she took it from his hand and smashed it back in the face before knocking him out completely after a small shower of punches.
Diana again took a breath and saw the criminals lying around her. She could only think that she was somewhat relieved that the fight against the Joker was over, at the same time she hoped this was the last fight. He didn't react until he heard an explosion. She turned around and saw that it was the box that had fully exploded. At least the Joker would never play with her again.
Diana put the Joker and his thugs into a ball and loaded them all up and flew off to the GCPD. She left them on the roof, but not before making sure no one saw her, and knocked on the door leading to the interior of the building and flew off again. Commissioner Gordon reacted with surprise to see that the Joker and his thugs were unconscious and ball-shaped a few yards from him. Another thing that had surprised him is that Babyface, the Zebraman, the Killer Moth, Sportsmaster, Deadshot, the Musketeer, and the muscular guy and clown dressed had been arrested as well and taken to their cells, but what was more surprising it was that Batman hadn't shown his face all night.
Diana began to fly back to the cave when she heard another loud sound. It looked like someone was hitting things. She groaned and went back to the city, but this time she saw that three big and strong guys were hitting a statue, which by its appearance seemed to be made of gold.
She saw that all three guys were pretty scary, but from their looks, but at least she already knew one of them, and that was Solomon Grundy. Solomon Grundy, the pale giant zombie with superhuman strength that was impossible to kill. But she did not know the giant man who looked like a crocodile, nor the strong man in a wrestler mask with red visors. Diana jumped down and rolled on landing and rose to stand in front of the three villains.
"Surrender now or you will end up on a stretcher" Diana threatened with great anger. These guys were dangerous to Bruce, but they shouldn't be dangerous to her.
"What kind of joke is this?" Asked the man with the mask.
"Grundy doesn't see Bat Man," said Grundy.
"This woman is not even Batgirl," said the crocodile man.
Bane walked over to Diana and punched Diana, but she dodged him and hit him on the feet, knocking him down. Bane got up and threw several blows at her, but Diana was so agile that he did not hit her a single blow, but Diana did hit him in the face. Bane rubbed his nose, she had broken it. This woman was indeed rude, but the Killer Croc wanted to destroy her.
The Killer Croc threw punches at her, and even tried to bite Diana, but she blocked the hit with her bracelet, which broke her teeth, causing her great pain, but since this was strong, Diana used half her strength, hitting the Killer Crocodile in the face, sending him into a truck. Both Bane and Grundy were surprised to see that a woman had great strength.
"I am not like Batman or Batgirl, but I guarantee that if you attack me I will not be merciful to you," Diana said threatening and imposing on the two big guys.
This would have scared any thief, but not them. And what he didn't know was that Bane was waiting for Batman to come so he could tear him to pieces, so he pressed his button that circulated Poison through his body, and teaming up with Grundy, the two big guys ran towards Diana, she dodged the first blows from both, but could not avoid one of Bane, which hit him on the back. Diana fell to the ground, but before getting up she was kicked by Grundy sending her towards the statue. Diana tried to get up, but Bane grabbed her head and brought her face to face.
"Tell me where Batman is, and maybe he won't break your head," Bane said with complete authority. Diana, having no choice, as she would say what she had said to the other criminals she had previously encountered.
"Batman will not come tonight, Bane. He'll come back for the next one, but you'll be in jail when that happens," Diana said, trying to break Bane's grip on her head, but the words she said angered Bane more, who began to tighten his head.
"Great, I made a plan with all the free villains around town to lure Batman, I knew if I made him fight relentlessly for a week I'd break him, but you come telling me that he won't be coming tonight. So much time wasted planning, but before I unleash my fury on you, tell me how the hell Batman didn't show up and you did," Bane ordered. This angered Diana. She now knew the main reason why the crime in Gotham had been so strong and had kept Bruce from sleeping. But she was happy that she had put Bruce to sleep because if he had gone to fight crime, he would have been crushed by these big guys.
"Simple, I told him not to come and that I would take charge for tonight. And I'm going to do it," Diana said before hitting Bane in the face with her legs. Bane stepped back but didn't release her, just squeezed her head tighter.
Diana screamed in pain, but hit Bane in the chest, and kept hitting him, but Bane pulled her close to his face again.
"I wanted to break a bat, but I can also break you," she said, but Diana moved her arm again and hit him with all the force she had in Bane's face, but with her bracelet, which made Bane released, as this did damage his jaw. Diana was going to hit him again, but Grundy grabbed her, slammed her to the ground, and threw her back onto the statue. Diana tried again to get up, but Bane had injected more Poison, so he kicked her hard sending her into a building.
Diana was angry, frustrated, but above all, desperate. Desperate because she couldn't believe everything Bruce had to do every night, and the worst thing about it all was that she still had to beat two big boys with superhuman strength, and one of them was the mastermind who had orchestrated a plan to break Batman.
"For the gods. How come Bruce does this alone?" Diana asked out loud, expressing her anger and despair. She shook her head and went to face Bane and Grundy again. She was leaping from building to building before coming back to face the two villains. "I thought about being compassionate, but now I swear to the gods that I will break every bone in their bodies to bring them to the feet of the law," said Diana.
"Go ahead, girl," Bane said, pressing the button again for the Poison to circulate.
Diana saw with this movement that this was her weakness and she needed to do something with that button or with the hoses behind her head and arms. But beating Grundy would be difficult, a little.
Diana went towards Bane, dodging Grundy's punches, Diana kicked Grundy's hand and then kicked him in the chest, knocking him back, so Diana tried to focus on Bane, who tried to smash her to the ground, but she dodged his punches and hit him in the chest. Bane backed away before Grundy tried to attack Diana with one of the axes stuck in his back. But Diana heard Grundy's movement, so she stopped him and kicked him on the back, knocking him back.
Bane tried to ram Diana, but she jumped away from Bane's hands and kicked him in the head, Bane stopped his onslaught and wanted to hit Diana again, but she kept dodging punches and even hit him three times in those giant and strong arms. Bane did feel pain, but he would not let this woman overcome him. Grundy tried to hit her, but she got fed up with him and rammed him with all her strength hitting him in the chest and began to finish him on the ground hitting him in the head. Grundy started emanating his toxic gas, but Diana hit him again and pulled away from him, and luckily this caused her to hear that Bane had thrown a pickup truck at her, so she stepped aside and fell on Grundy before exploit.
Diana ran back to Bane, but this time, he had thrown another car at her, but she caught him and sent him back towards him. Bane couldn't react when she came behind him and ripped the Poison hoses from his body and threw them far away. Bane tried to run away from her before all the effects were exhausted, but Diana flew towards him without him seeing her and grabbed him just as the effects of the Poison began to wear off. Diana turned him over and gave him a big blow that sent him to the ground. Diana turned to see if Grundy and the crocodile man were still unconscious, and yes, they were. Diana grabbed Bane, the alligator man, and Grundy, although the last two were indeed heavy. She flew them away and left them on the roof of the police station.
Diana flew back to a ledge of another building, was there for almost an hour, but nothing happened. She flew back to the cave, thanks to the fact that she had entered several times before, the cave already gave her access.
Diana simply took off her mask and went upstairs back to the mansion. She thought that she should go back to the Watchtower, but she had to change and go a long way to go to her room, and possibly someone would want to talk to her about what she had done during the night, but the combat she had had with these criminals made her she had left exhausted, so she just wanted to rest. Upon arriving at the mansion, Diana did not want to climb any more stairs, so she went to the living room and dropped onto her back on the sofa. It was only a few minutes before he fell into a deep sleep.

Diana did not know how long she was asleep, but when she woke up, she knew that she had to leave quickly before Bruce realized she was there. She got up but saw that it was sunny. By the gods, she had slept too much, but before she could walk, she heard a male baritone voice behind her.
"Wow, it was time for you to wake up," said Bruce.
"Bruce, I'm about to leave," said Diana nervously. Her nerves increased when she realized that she was still wearing the bat suit with its bracelets somewhat visible since the suit had withstood the blows she had given to the criminals in the city.
"Don't go, princess," said Bruce. "Alfred made you a very rich breakfast," Alfred came out from behind Bruce with a tray in his hands. He put the tray on the living room table and spoke to her.
"Consider this a thank you, Miss Diana, I just hope Master Bruce thanks you too," Alfred said in whispers before leaving.
"Please, princess, eat," said Bruce.
Diana thought about leaving, but she was hungry and still had the bat costume, so running to the Watchtower would take the time or many would realize what she did last night, so she sat down and started eating while Bruce sat down at his side.
"Can you tell me what time it is, Bruce?" I wanted to leave early but I slept more than necessary "Diana explained while eating, knowing that the storm was coming.
"It's three o'clock in the afternoon," Bruce said in a very severe voice. "It seems that patrolling Gotham City is not as easy as you thought," Bruce said something funny. He didn't think Diana would have a difficult night patrolling his city, but he was still upset about what he had done.
"Patrolling your city was easy enough," Diana said trying to hide.
"That bruise that almost disappears from your face tells me otherwise," said Bruce. Diana didn't realize she had it.
"It was easy, period. I faced a few criminals from your city. They weren't a big deal," Diana said, thinking that Bruce had no more arguments.
"Yes, I think fighting Bane, Killer Croc, Solomon Grundy, the Joker, and Deadshot, not to mention the other criminals, was pretty easy," said Bruce. "Newscasts are a good source of quick-access information," he reminded her, leaving her without arguments.
"Hey, I fought those criminals without help from anyone and with my powers, and I'm still alive. I think you should tell me "you're welcome" instead of telling me it wasn't easy, "Diana said.
"You fought criminals in Gotham City, unaided, but that wasn't the worst of it. The worst thing of all is that you made me sleep, you made Alfred sleep and you faced Bane, a confrontation of which you could not have come out alive, I can't believe you did that" Bruce said.
"I did a good patrol, without my weapons and my Amazon armor, but I am an Amazon, so you should not be surprised," Diana said.
"I'm not surprised, Diana, I'm angry, because you put your life in danger by patrolling the city alone, without my permission, and you didn't have to," said Bruce.
"I had to, Bruce. Dick and Barbara were gone, and if someone from the league was patrolling the city without your suit, chaos would have broken out. So I'm still waiting for a "you're welcome"." Diana said refusing to back down.
"Why did you do it, Diana? And tell me the truth," Bruce demanded.
"I already told you, Bruce," Diana said. "It was a must, and, if you had gone, the giant guy in the mask would have ripped you to pieces."
"I would have handled it anyway, Diana," said Bruce, still wanting to know the reason for Diana's actions.
"No, I couldn't allow you to go fight in those conditions. I couldn't bear to see you get hurt," Diana said without realizing that she had said something important.
"So you couldn't bear to get him hurt? I don't understand why if I always put myself in danger on every mission with you" said Bruce. Tired of all of Diana's evasions, he grabbed her face and forced her to look at him. "Why did you do this, Diana?" Bruce asked kindly.
Having him so close to her, Diana couldn't take it anymore, so she grabbed Bruce by the cheeks and pulled him to her to kiss him. Bruce remained stoic for a few moments but soon began to return the kiss. Diana wrapped her arms around Bruce's neck, as he put his hands on her waist. When they both needed to breathe, the two broke the kiss and breathed heavily.
"That's why I did it," Diana said looking at him with very loving eyes. "I care about you, and I couldn't bear to have something bad happen to you."
Bruce replied by kissing her again before speaking.
"I also care about you, Diana. But I will focus on sleeping so that you will not patrol again without my help" Bruce said with a somewhat funny tone.
"Then we will patrol the city tonight?" Diana asked somewhat anxiously.
"I have a better idea princess," said Bruce.
That idea was to spend a quiet night in the mansion. Although Diana didn't initially like the idea, she later liked it knowing that Dick and Barbara would patrol the city at night, since Bruce had patrolled the city for a week without sleep and with little help, before Diana did. And like most of the criminals, they were locked-up thanks to Diana, because the patrol was calm. Also, thanks to Bruce's influence as Batman, no one in the league questioned when he said he had other things to do and why he wouldn't attend, that and that he arranged for Diana to have the night off as well.
The night Bruce and Diana spent at the mansion was quite calm, which was comforting after the hard work they had to do. The night ended with them watching a movie before falling into a deep, peaceful sleep. Before sleeping, Bruce was happy to have the woman he loved in his arms safe and sound after she patrolled her town and battled many dangerous villains single-handedly. What Diana thought before falling asleep was that she was happy but could not believe that after spending a single night patrolling Gotham City would lead her to be asleep in the arms of the man she loved so much the following night. It was a somewhat crazy plan, it had a very stumbling execution, but the result was very satisfactory.
THE END
Well well. I finally finished this #WonderBat one-shot. I want to thank my beta DC Watchergirl for all the support and editing the story, and I thank you guys for reading. Do not forget to leave your comment and if you want to suggest a story, then tell me.
Before I leave, I inform you that Battinson will have a Batbadcat romance, again. WonderBat is denied again. But since the universe of the damned N52 is over, then we have to make a fuss over WonderBat to be canon in the near future, but in a good way, not just a filler.
On the other hand, I will continue working on the next chapter of Power Rangers, and later on the Mysterious Island update. Without further ado, it's all for now. Thank you.
Sincerely, Supermaster51.
