In Akane's view, Thursday and Friday had been her idea of Hell on Earth! Not only did Miu pester her every opportunity she got about Aido's interest in her, but many of his 'fangirls' had overheard him mention her at the changeover and had demanded to know what her relationship with their Idol was, at every turn. Akane attempted to dodge the crazies but with so many, it was almost impossible to even go to the bathroom without an angry entourage.
She endured threatening, sometimes amusing anonymous notes that appeared in her bag, snide remarks and scathing looks from her peers during class. The small number of male friends she did tolerate even stopped talking to her. The animosity from many of the other girls being a sign of social disease, it would seem. Unfortunately, the night promised no relief, as Kimiko and her roommate, Naomi Jin organised emergency sleepovers in Akane and Miu's room. Neither Akane nor Miu gave their permission for this but Miu quickly got into the discussions and was soon theorising with them. Akane did not.
While the days were fraught with subtle hate, anger and frustration, the nights were dedicated to interrogations that lasted nearly six hours. Akane had originally been concerned for her sanity when the sleepovers began purely to focus on hers and Aido's relationship. The dread she'd felt when her room suddenly filled with girls, was quickly replaced by irritation, however, when the long line of questioning boiled down to one. 'Why did Idol ask for you?' and for that, she didn't have an answer.
Saturday 6:15 p.m. Akane entered her empty dorm room. Miu had already gone home for the weekend. She turned on the light and securely locked the door and windows before doing the same in the bathroom. She double-checked the door and window, and once satisfied, took a shower and began to prepare for bed. During her shower, Akane kept an eye on the mirror on the opposite wall, which reflecting her fully lit, empty bedroom, watching for movement.
Akane dried and changed then triple checked the doors and windows before lying down to sleep. Usually, she would have read a book or listened to music but after the sleepovers of the previous two nights, she was completely exhausted and at 7:55 p.m. Akane finally felt settled enough to sleep and fell into dreamland almost immediately after her head hit the pillow.
Sunday 01:27 a.m. Akane felt incessant prodding at her side and a warm breeze being blown across her face. She cracked open a drowsy eye to find a set of glass-blue eyes, staring expectantly back at her. After a second to understand this, her eyes widened to their fullest as she jolted upright, ready to release an almighty shriek. Aido quickly placed his hands over the Human's mouth to muffle her screams.
"Keep it down, Nakamura. It's just me." Akane locked eyes with her intruder, recognising Aido Hanabusa of the Night Class and sagged in relief. Satisfied that she wouldn't be screaming down the place, Aido removed his hands and stood back to give the girl some much-needed space.
"What the hell are you doing here?" Akane groaned, rubbing at her eyes and praying she didn't suffer a heart attack before the age of 20. "I didn't say anything about you coming here to Headmaster Cross, so, what do you want?"
Aido's face set into a frustrated frown as he placed his hands on his hips and glared down at the Human.
"That's not how you greet someone, who comes to visit you!" While Aido complained at Akane about her lack of enthusiasm about his visit, she held her head and rubbed her face tiredly, cursing the Day Class girls and their sleepovers for her lack of decent rest from the last few nights. That is until she remembered, the very reason for those useless and exhausting nights was currently lecturing her, on proper manners, after breaking into her room and giving her the fright of her life in the middle of the night!
"You!" Akane said in a dangerous tone, pointing an accusing finger at the surprised Vampire. "This is your fault! Do you have any idea what those crazy fans of yours did to me for the last two days?" Akane was stood, glaring daggers at Aido while his expression changed to innocent confusion. He chose to remain silent as the Human continued to fume at him. "I've been bombarded with questions at school, I couldn't even eat in peace! Then Inoue and Jin organising emergency sleepovers, with nearly every girl in the dorm, just to quiz me on you, which took over six hours!"
"Why?"
"Why? What do you mean why? You asked Miu about me getting hurt in class and everyone heard! Now the girls think either you've got a crush on me or that I'm some whore who managed to sneak into The Moon Dorms. I had to listen to people insult me and defend you while also trying to figure you out myself, because I didn't have an answer to give them! I've barely slept in two days because of you!"
By the end, Akane was breathless and right in Aido's face, getting more annoyed the more his grin grew at her misfortune. He tried not to laugh at the reaction he'd caused in the Day Class girls for such a small thing. Not to mention, the redder Akane's face got the more she looked like an angry tomato. He just couldn't contain himself and let out a guffaw of laughter, muffled by his hand, held firmly over his mouth.
Akane crossed her arms, huffing and tapping her foot angrily, waiting for Aido to run out of the air to fuel his laughter. Hopefully, he'll laugh himself to death! She frowned deeply as she scowled up at him cursing him for his merriment. He recovered eventually and straightened up to see a highly irritated Human who looked less than impressed with him. He could do nothing to stop the grin still stretched wide across his face, however.
"Finished?" she asked a little lighter than he would've expected, judging from her expression. He cleared his throat and furrowed his brows to straighten his features as Akane glared at the floor between them. "Why even ask Miu about me?" she sighed.
"Lord Kaname said you'd been in an accident and would be in the school building when we arrived, but he didn't say what happened. So, I asked around," he explained as he took up residence in Akane's bed, again, much to her annoyance. "But your friend didn't give me any details," Aido complained once he got himself comfortable. "Said you didn't like horses. My guess is, you freaked out in your riding lesson and got carted off to the infirmary. So, is that what happened?"
Akane huffed, strode to Miu's bed and dropped to sit on the mattress, irritably muttering to herself. She was aggravated, and now, completely awake, with an egotistic, teenage (she assumed), Vampire boy in her bed, that she knew would refuse to move, no matter how angry she got. Her arms and legs crossed in exasperation, not caring that she was wearing a nightgown, as Aido turned to her, his head propped up on his palm with one foot on the bed while the other dangled off the edge.
"Why are you sitting all the way over there? This is your bed, isn't it?" Aido asked suggestively as he patted the sheets beside him with a charmingly, seductive smile.
"It is, but a perverted Vampire is laying on it." Akane dead-panned, unmoved by Aido's antics. He gave an amused shrug before he lied down, his hands resting behind his head.
Akane's leg bounced on her knee in agitation, watching the arrogant Vampire resting so peacefully in her bed.
"Did you have a reason for coming here in the middle of the night, or did you wake me up just to piss me off?" she asked with an aggravated tone that pulled another smug smile from him. Aido lifted himself to rest his head on his hand again and grinned at Akane devilishly.
"If I got what I wanted from you, Nakamura, waking you up would be impossible."
His grin widened in amusement as Akane's leg stopped bouncing and her face paled, pulling her arms around herself a little tighter.
"Ha, ha, relax, Nakamura. Although, maybe now, you'll think twice about using that tone with me." Akane's anger resurfaced at being teased in such a tasteless manner by the Vampire.
"Get out of my room, or I'll scream," she threatened with a growl.
"Alright," the Vampire surrendered with a mocking sigh of defeat as he stood.
Aido sporting an amused smirk as he walked to the door, looking back at the tired and irritable Human he'd disturbed.
"Leave the horses alone next time, ok," he advised, winking at her, before closing the door with a light click. Akane rushed to the door and twisted the lock for a second time, checking the handle to ensure the door was secure before throwing herself back into bed. However, after many minutes of tossing and turning, she sat back up with a snarl any Rottweiler would be proud of.
"Damn you, Aido Hanabusa!"
