Miu returned, and classes went on. Akane finally got some decent hours in her bed, but her sleep was far from sound or peaceful. She was either plagued by nightmares, so frequent, that even Miu got concerned and suggested a trip to see the school nurse. Akane would lay awake late into the night, guilt gnawing at her. She fretted over whether she'd let the one chance to save him slip through her fingers, all because of her inability to rise above Aido's insensitivity. These worries plagued her continuously and Miu wasn't blind to her friend's tumultuous thoughts.

On Wednesday, after she came back from the changeover, Miu decided it was time she asked her roommate what was bothering her so much, and to finally bring up another oddity she'd noticed since last week.
"Akane… Is everything ok?" Miu sat on her bed, watching the ebony-haired girl toil over another pile of extra schoolwork she didn't need to do and ignore whatever was causing her to lose sleep.
"Yes Miu, for the last time, I'm fine! Now, will you please stop asking?" She hadn't meant to sound irritable, but that was what she was, irritated.
"Sorry," Miu apologised gently before looking about the room innocently.

She swung her legs off the edge of her bed, sighing dejectedly and loudly. After about a minute of this being repeated many times, Akane finally put her schoolwork down and fixed Miu with an intense stare. Miu smiled pleasantly back at Akane's darkening expression.
"Miu, what is it?" Akane finally asked, and evidently, it had been what Miu had been waiting for.

"It's about Idol," she began and quickly assured Akane that she wasn't going to pester her about their relationship after she'd groaned and gone back to her books.
"I told you already, he and I have nothing to do with each other. So, I don't know what you want me to tell you, Miu. Now, I'm busy with this English paper, so, if you don't mind…"
"I know, but he's been rather quiet recently, you know. Not his usual, cheery self." Akane raised a convincingly disinterested brow at Miu. "And you haven't exactly been a ray of sunshine either."

Black, sweeping bangs fell as Akane lowered her head back down to her books, refusing to allow Miu to see her guilty expression. She knew Aido must have been acting, somewhat off, judging by the looks and whispers from the Nigh Class fans when she'd pass them lately. Unfortunately for Miu, Akane refused to speak about the Night Class from then on. After a few minutes of unsuccessful interrogation, Miu decided to leave Akane to her English paper.

Akane and Miu reverted to their earlier agreement, where Miu didn't mention the Night Class or Aido, but all that did allow Akane's mind to convince herself she'd blown it and that Aido would never agree to help her now. Her reaction, to what may have been an insensitive answer to her question, was, as far as he was concerned, an honest one. Aido may not think it worth his time with an unrealistic Human, not that she knew why he had continued to visit her in the first place. She did know she needed to apologise for her behaviour, even though Aido had hurt and upset her.

Akane waved Miu off with Kimiko on Saturday morning, just after 10 a.m. a little more than nervous about whether Aido would be in her room tonight. Despite her earlier fear, anger, and confusion towards the Vampire, she knew, whether she wanted it or not, she needed his help. She couldn't keep waking up in the middle of the night, terrified for her life or her sanity, nor could she keep pretending that he wouldn't find her this time.

She needed to know how to break the hold that creature had over him, and no matter what the answer, or how much of a lost cause Aido thought he was, she needed to know. So, Akane waited for him. She remained in her room all afternoon and into the late evening, and eventually fell asleep curled up at the foot of her bed, still dressed in the clothes she wore that day.
