Chapter 7

"Just a little more…and done." Doctor David said enthusiastically as he finished cutting through Walter's cast. Walter looked at his left arm, turning it one way and then the other. He then looked back at David who had tossed the cast and was now packing up his things. "Thank you again Doctor David." Walter said as he stood up. "I'm happy to help, just so long as it's at a decent time of day." Doctor David teased. Walter smiled and took his leave.

Once outside of the room he spotted Alucard leaning against the wall in front of him. "The Angel of Death, he lives." Alucard said dramatically causing Walter to give him (her) a confused look. "A little late for that one aren't you?" Walter asked as he closed the door. "Yeah I know, give me a break would you." Alucard huffed as he (she) stood up straight. "So your arm is all better now?" Alucard asked as Walter Started to walk away.

"Yeah, I guess that means you're back to being bored out of your mind." Walter responded with a slight chuckle. "That's alright I'll just frighten the new recruits or something." Alucard laughed as he (she) followed Walter down the hall. "That's fine, just don't overdue it." Walter responded as he glanced back at Alucard for a second. "Right, I'll try." Alucard said with a smile. 'He's not even serious right now.' Walter thought as he looked back at Alucard.

"So what are you going to do now?" Alucard asked his (her) war partner. "I'm going to go check on Miss Integra, if you must know everything." Walter answered somewhat annoyed. "Aguh, again with the child, you've done nothing but baby sit her since she got here." Alucard complained. "I do not baby sit her Alucard." Walter corrected, "Besides what else could I have done with my arm the way it was?" he asked. Alucard opened his (her) mouth to answer but found he (she) couldn't think of anything.

Alucard growled, "Fine you win." He (she) said as Walter gave him (her) a smug look. "Well of course I do." Walter said with a slight chuckle. Walter then stopped in front of a door and looked at Alucard. "Didn't you say Sir Hellsing had called for you earlier?" Walter asked suddenly remembering the conversation from before. Alucard's eyes widened, 'damn I forgot. Master is going to punish me for sure.' He (she) thought before disappearing.

'I can't believe he actually forgot.' Walter thought shaking his head. He then turned back towards the door and slowly opened it just enough for him to stick his head inside of the room. He looked into the room to see Integra and her private instructor working on something. Walter smiled at the sight and slowly retracted his head. He then slowly and quietly closed the door. After that Walter continued on his way.

As he was walking down the hall he was greeted by several new recruits before spotting his brother who was talking to some Hellsing troops. "William!" he called causing his brother to turn and look at him. William looked at the troops and waved them goodbye before heading towards his brother. "Well look at you." William started. "Finally got that cast off huh."

It wasn't really a question but responded any ways. "Yeah for a while there I thought I would forget what my arm looked like before I ever got that damn thing off." Walter joked. William smiled and placed both hands on his brother's shoulders. "I'm glad you're feeling better little brother." William said. He dropped his hands from Walter's shoulders. "I hate to ask you this but could you do me a favor?"

"Sure, what do you need?" Walter asked confused. 'William rarely asks for favors. I wonder whats up.' Walter thought. William scratched the back of his head. "Could you do some of my chores so I can go on a date with Sora?" he asked, looking away slightly. "I haven't been able to spend a lot of time with her since you got injured and while she has been very understanding I'm hoping to take her somewhere nice this evening to make up for it." He explained. 'Ah I see now. Well I guess I can't complain after all he did most of mine while I was injured.' Walter thought.

Walter gave his brother a slap on the arm. "Sure, William after all I owe you." He replied with a small smile. William smirked and ruffled his little brother's hair. Walter growled in irritation before slapping his brothers hand away. William laughed, "Thanks again little brother." He said before walking off. "We'll talk again later." He called back, not bothering to turn around. Walter grumbled as he tried to fix his now messed up hair.

(later that evening)

Walter was carrying a basket full of clothes to the laundry room. He entered the laundry room and placed the basket on top of the dryer. Walter then set the washing machine and let it run for a few seconds. He then started tossing clothes into it. Just then Integra poked her head in and happily rushed over to him.

She stood there beside him, watching him as he tossed the clothes in. She then raised her hand and pulled gently on his shirt. It was then that Walter paused and looked over at her. Walter smiled at her, "Well hello Miss Integra." He greeted. "Is there something you want from me?" he asked.

"No I was just wondering if I could help." Integra answered. "Ah, I see. Ok then once I'm done with this you can help me get the clean clothes out of the dryer and help me fold them." Walter responded before he continued. Once he was done putting the clothes in to the washing machine, he poured some detergent in. he then closed the washing machine and grabbed the basket. Walter placed the basket on the floor and opened the dryer. The two then started tossing the clean clothes into the basket.

When they were done Walter closed the dryer and picked up the basket. 'Let's see these should be Sir Arthur's clothes.' Walter thought as he started out of the laundry room. The two then headed up the stairs towards Arthur's room. Once there Walter held the basket under one arm and opened the door. The two then walked in. just then Walter stopped as he got a look at the room.

Walter sighed, "Sir Arthur's room is messier than a toddler's. I literally just cleaned this room and now it's back to being a mess." He stated. "Miss Integra, do me a favor and promise me you won't follow your father's example and make me work so hard." Walter pleaded in a slightly teasing kind of way. Integra giggle, "of course not Walter you do enough as it is." She responded. Walter looked down at Integra and smiled. The two then walked in a little farther.

Walter then placed the basket on Arthur's bed and looked at Integra. "I'll give you the easier ones." Walter informed her. He then began taking out the pants and socks, putting them in separate piles. He then showed her how to fold them before starting on the rest of Arthur's clothes. Walter of course finished earlier then Integra and started to help her. "Not bad, you're doing pretty well for your first time." Walter praised as he watched her from the corner of his eye.

"Really?" Integra questioned as she finished folding a pair of Arthur's trousers. "Um Hm in fact I might have to get you to help me more often." Walter responded with a smile. She smiled back at him before continuing with her task. When they were done Walter arranged the clothes in Arthur's drawer and closet. After he was done he decided to tidy the room back up. As Walter was tidying up he noticed that Integra hadn't moved.

"You can do whatever you want now Miss Integra, you don't have to stay here with me." Walter told the young girl. "I know Walter but there really isn't anything for me to do." Integra replied as she watched him. Upon hearing this Walter paused what he was doing. 'Oh I guess because I didn't grow up like most children I hadn't noticed just how boring it must be here for Integra without someone to play with.' Walter thought. "Miss Integra is there anything you really want to do?" Walter questioned, "Once I'm done cleaning in here I will be done with my assignments for the day." He told her.

"Well it's been a while since I've gone to the park." Integra said in thought. "Would you like me to take you?" Walter asked as he placed some stray books in their proper place. "Yes please." Integra answered happily. Walter smiled, "very well then." He said as he picked up a few stray papers. He then stacked them neatly on Arthur's bed side table.

"There all done." Walter announced as he looked around the now neat room. "So, we can go now, right?" Integra asked him as she clung to his trousers. Walter laughed at her sudden impatience. "Yes, but it's a little chilly out today. Why don't you go change into something a bit warmer and then we'll go." Walter suggested. "Ok!" Integra said before taking off to her room.

Walter laughed as she dashed out of the room and slowly followed. He then closed the door behind him before continuing. "Playing baby sitter now Walter." A childish voice said from behind him. Walter immediately turned and looked at the owner of the voice. He glared at the young figure hiding in the shadows. "Who the hell are you and what are you doing here!" he hissed. The figure laughed, "Oh no one important I was just stopping by, nothing more." The stranger replied.

"Leave now before I make you!" Walter growled. "My my I'm hurt. Is this how you treat all of your friends Mr. Angel of Death?" the stranger questioned a look of mock hurt on his face. Walter growled and clenched his fists. "You're no friend of mine, you sadistic bastard!" He snapped. "Watch yourself Angel of Death. We wouldn't want anything the to happen to that pretty little girl, now would we?" the stranger warned with a perpetual smirk. At that Walter snapped and lunged at the stranger who immediately disappeared. The stranger's laughter echoed in the empty hall way.

Walter looked around in hopes of finding the owner of the voice but saw nothing. "You bastards stay away from her! You hear me!" he said furiously. The voice laughed again, "Oh and what will you do if we don't hmm?" they questioned. "I'll rip you all apart limb from limb!" He replied in a deadly tone. "My my aren't you scary. I feel bad for any ghoul that meets you in a dark alley way." The voice continued to joke. Walter clenched his teeth in frustration, wishing nothing more than to beat the owner of the voice to a bloody pulp. "Well it was fun messing with you but know it's time for me to go. Bye bye now Mr. Angel of Death."

Walter punched the wall leaving a slight dent. 'Damn it! I've been careless!' he thought in frustration. He leaned his forehead against the wall and took deep breaths in hopes of calming himself down. 'I need to calm down and head downstairs.' He thought. 'It would be wrong of me to keep Miss Integra waiting.' He thought before standing back up straight and starting down the then headed to the stairs towards the front door. From there he grabbed a jacket and waited for Integra. It wasn't long before Integra came running down the stairs.

"Miss Integra, don't run down the stairs." Walter scolded, "you could slip and fall." He said. "Oh, sorry Walter, I was just so excited I forgot." Integra said sheepishly as she stopped in front of him. Walter sighed, 'she can be such a hand full sometimes.' He thought with a slight smile. "Very well I'll let it slide this time." Walter said as he slipped his jacket on. "Now come on, let's go." he said as he opened the door for Integra.

Integra giggled and shot out the door, Walter following shortly after. Walter turned around to shut the door while glancing at Integra every so often. 'We may still be on the property of the estate but it could still be dangerous.' Walter thought as he remembered the strange intruder from a little bit ago. "Walter, come on, hurry up so we can go!" Integra called slightly impatient. Walter chuckled, "all right, all right I'm coming, I'm coming." He said as he started towards the excited girl. As Walter moved closer to her, Integra moved her hand to grab his.

Walter looked at Integra slightly surprised by the sudden action. Integra however didn't seem to notice as she started to pull him with her out of the gates of the estate. Lucky for them the park wasn't very far so there was no need to drive. The two-walked side by side down the dirt pathway. Integra skipped and swung their intertwined hands happily.

Walter walked silently beside the excited child with a small smile. As he watched her from the corner of his eye he couldn't help but think how adorable she was when she was happy. 'Strange until I met Integra the thought of being around children would have been hell to me but now I can't see why I would think that.' Walter thought. Suddenly Walter realized what he was thinking and shook his head. 'Damn Alucard and that bastard were right I'm starting to get soft. I really need to get back to slaughtering the undead.' he thought.

"Is something wrong?" Integra asked suddenly, pulling Walter from his thoughts. Walter looked down at Integra who happened to be staring up at him. "No, everything is fine. I was just thinking about something is all." Walter replied. Integra continued to stare at him for several seconds before smiling. "Ok, then let's start moving a bit faster now." She said as she tugged on him harder.

Walter chuckled and picked up a little more speed. "So, Integra what do you enjoy doing the most at the park?" Walter asked the girl. "Well when mom was still around I enjoyed hanging out on the swings with Seras." Integra answered. "Seras?" Walter questioned at the mention of the unknown name. "Yeah Seras was kind of a neighbor of mine. The two of us were the only children so we quickly became good friends." Integra explained.

"Ah I see. Think she will be at the park as well?" Walter questioned Integra. "I don't know but I hope she is." Integra replied with a smile. Walter smiled back and continued to let her pull him around. 'I'm glad she was able to make a friend before starting a somewhat anti-sociable life.' He thought. "Hey Walter?" Integra questioned quietly as they walked. "Yes, what is it?" Walter responded as he looked at her.

"Do you think I could invite Seras over for the night if we run into her?" Integra asked her eyes pleading. Walter looked on thoughtfully for a moment before speaking. "I'm sure Sir Arthur wouldn't mind as long as you two don't get loud but her parents have to allow it." Walter answered. The answer he gave made Integra smile. "Oh, I hope we see she then and her parents allow her to stay over for the night." Integra squealed. 'I'm sure everything will work out perfectly.' Walter thought.

After arriving at the park Integra dragged Walter over to the swings. She sat down on one and started swinging gently. Walter sat down on the swing beside her and looked around. "Hey Walter?" Integra called quietly as she turned her head to look at him. Walter looked at her and smiled, "Yes?" he questioned. "Are you all right?" Integra asked worriedly. Walter looked at her with a slight look of surprise.

"Of course." He replied, "Why do you think something is wrong?" he asked. Integra looked down at her feet, "you're acting different than usual." She whispered. Walter's eyes softened. He placed a hand on Integra's head and gently ran his fingers through her hair. Integra slowly looked up at him to see him smiling fondly at her. "Miss Integra I'm honored that you care so much for my well-being." He started. "However, I assure you that I'm perfectly fine so long as you are happy." He finished as he moved his hand to rest on her cheek.

Just then a they heard someone call out Integra's name. Walter lowered his hand and the two looked towards the source of the voice. Integra's eyes brightened upon spotting the familiar face of her friend Seras. "Seras!" Integra called as she jumped out of her swing and running towards her best friend. The two hugged each other and started chatting happily. Walter watched the reunion with contempt as he sat on the swing.

He watched as Integra grabbed Seras' hand and the two ran off towards the jungle gym. Walter slowly stood up and put his hands in his pocket before making his way over to them. He kept his distance but made sure he was always able to see Integra and Seras. 'Seras seems like a nice girl.' He thought as he watched the two girls run around happily.

(meanwhile with Seras and Integra)

"Integra where have you been!?" Seras asked excited to see her best friend again after so long. The two hugged each other and pulled away. "Sorry I've been living with my father for the last few months." Integra replied sadly. Seras tilted her head slightly in confusion. "You have a father? Wait what happened to Miss Lilian?" She asked. "Mom passed away and I've been staying with my father since then…" Integra explained as she looked towards her fee.

Seras nodded in understanding and grabbed Integra's hands, making her lift her head. Seras smiled sadly at her friend, "I'm sorry for your loss but I'm glad we can still see each other." She said making Integra smile. "Yeah, besides living with my father isn't that bad." Integra responded. Just then Seras glanced over her friend's shoulder at Walter. "So, who is the guy that brought you here that keeps staring at us?" she asked as she let go of Integra's hands. She glanced at her friend to see her eyes light up. "That's Walter. He is my father's butler and he's really nice." Integra told Seras happily.

Seras giggled at the sudden change of her friend. "Hey Seras, where are your parents?" Integra asked. "Over past the jungle gym. Why?" she asked. "Because Walter said that you could stay over tonight as long as your parents were ok with it." Integra answered with a smile. "But we'll talk to them later. For know why don't we go play on the jungle Gym!?" she suggested. Seras nodded in agreement before Integra grabbed her hand and ran off.

(A few hours later)

Walter walked behind the two young girls as they held hands and skipped down the side walk up to the manor. 'I'm glad Integra is happy. When she thought she was alone, she looked quite melancholy.' He thought with a small smile. As they moved closer to the doorWalter moved around the two happy children to open the door for them. However, when he opened the door he came face to face with Alucard in what seemed like a younger version of his normal look. He was now wearing a dark red tee shirt and black jeans looking almost human. "Yo Walter. Where have you been?" He asked looking a little angry. It was then he noticed the two girls who had stopped chatting and were currently staring at him.

Walter sighed, 'Damn vampire, he is the last person I want to deal with right now.' He thought. "Do you mind?" he asked as politely as possible. Alucard grumbled but moved out of the way. "Go ahead inside girls." Walter said as he sent them a strained smile. Integra and Seras walked in with Walter right behind them. Walter then closed the door and sent a quick glare in Alucard's direction. Before turning his attention back to the girls. "Miss Integra." Walter called quietly. Integra turned around with questioning eyes.

Walter kneeled down and smiled. "I have somethings to do for a bit so why don't you and Seras go play in your room for a bit." He suggested. Integra smiled at him and nodded before taking Seras' hand and heading off towards the stairs. Walter slowly stood up and watched the two walk off. However, Integra suddenly stopped and let go of Seras' hand. She quickly turned back around and ran towards Walter. Realizing why, he kneeled once more and received a hug from her.

"Thank you for taking me to the park today." She said as she hugged him. Walter chuckled as he ran his fingers through her hair. "You are quite welcome Miss Integra." He told her as he pulled away. Integra smiled, gave him a quick kiss on the cheek and ran off back towards Seras. Walter slowly stood up once more before turning to look at Alucard with a blank expression.

"Now what the hell was your problem?" he asked calmly. Alucard looked away angrily with a 'hmph'. Walter shook his head at the response that he got. "Master called me to his office a little bit ago, told me we were going to have a guest, then turned around and told me to be a good little vampire…" Alucard growled out in irritation. 'Ah now I know what has him all worked up.' Walter thought with a sigh. "Well what do you expect Alucard he knows how you can be sometimes." He said as he leaned against the wall by the door.

Alucard growled quietly. "So, prove him wrong." Walter said suddenly. Alucard looked at him confused. "How would I do that?" he questioned. "You can try hanging out with me and the girls and try being civil for once." Walter suggested. "But I'm not supposed to be around Master's daughter."

"I really don't see a problem if you only look the way you do now when Seras is over." Walter said as he crossed his arms. "So, you think it should be fine if she doesn't see me often enough in this form to connect the dots when she gets older?" Alucard questioned with intense interest. "More or less my friend." Walter replied with a smirk. "you do realize that for this to work you'll probably have to deal with me looking like a girl the rest of the time, right?" Alucard asked. Walter sighed, "I'll deal with it somehow I guess." he said. "So, what are you going to do now?" Alucard asked. "I have to go finish the laundry…" Alucard cut him off, "no need I finished that for you all ready." He said. Walter looked shocked but kept his mouth shut. "We'll then I guess the only thing I need to do now is get started on dinner." He said. "Then I'll see you later." Alucard said before disappearing.

Well that's it for this chapter in the next I plan to have little Seras and Alucard interact a little bit more with each other.
