Akane stood near the wall, which surrounded The Moon Dorms, for at least ten minutes, but the blond Vampire didn't come. Anxiety bit at her nerves little by little. Was she wrong? Could a Vampire not smell her from this distance. Unable to dawdle any longer, Akane turned dejectedly and trapesed through the wood back to the path that led to The Sun Dorms. With the threat of expulsion still looming over her head, she couldn't afford to be spotted out passed curfew any later. Once she reached the path, Akane slipped into step with her fellow Day Class students and walked through the gates of The Sun Dorms.

She passed the breakfast room, deciding to eat after the rabble, fresh from the vigil of The Moon Dorms, were done. Some of the more avid fans of the Night Class students took it upon themselves to visit The Moon Dorms on the weekends to 'cheer them on' for a bit. Though Akane reasoned it had more to do with finding a way in rather than offering moral support.

No, instead Akane went to the quiet solitude of her room, enwrapped in an air of gloom.
"How do I get anywhere, if I can't even get his attention?" At this rate, I'll have to go to the changeover! She internally whined, opening her door, oblivious to the presence within her room, lying on her bed, no less.

The light from the Sun still lit the room well enough so, Akane didn't bother turning on the light and walked through her room to the bathroom to wash up. She pulled the cord for the bathroom light as she shrugged off her coat and blazer, letting them fall to the floor. She sighed at her reflection in the mirror over the sink. Her pale skin was coloured red by the chill from the wind and her hair resembled a wild, black mane thanks to the weather.

She took up one of Miu's many combes and began detangling the mess the wind had wrought on her fine hair, taming her tresses until she resembled a civilised Human again. After this, she brushed her teeth and washed her face. Several minutes went uneventfully by until Akane was done. She left the bathroom, pulling the light cord with her lazily into her room, not seeing the sullen Vampire, who still watched her from her mattress with a heavy scowl.

Her hands reached up and began to undo the buttons of her blouse. She undid three buttons before Aido decided to clear his throat to announce himself, as it became clear, Akane was so far in her head she wasn't even able to recognize his reflection in the mirror on the dresser she was currently undressing in front of.

Akane startled, turning to face the sound, gripping the dresser for support behind her. A strange sense of relief settled when she saw the Vampire lounging on her bed. She couldn't help the small, grateful smile that crept onto her lips.

She straightened and stepped around the beds, nearer to him, hoping he'd say something to start this conversation, but his unwillingness was clear. She needed to be the one to make the first move in this instance. So, Akane swallowed her earlier indignation at his tactfulness and offered a necessary apology for her reaction to his words.

"I'm sorry," she began gently. A singular blue eye opened and gazed at her dully. "I had no right to lash out at you like that. Despite your rudeness toward me, you were just being honest. I understand the prey, predator dynamic between Humans and Vampires, and what I said probably seemed ridiculous to you." Both eyes were on her now, but his face remained unreadable. She moved closer and bowed her head.

"I'm sorry, Aido." She waited, but the Vampire stayed quiet and continued to watch her as a frown slowly drew his brows together and pulled the sides of his lips down in annoyance. Had she upset him that much? Had that slap even hurt?
"Your mood swings are annoying," he sighed with an air of disappointment. Akane frowned in bewilderment and stumbled back as Aido rose from the bed.
"Wait!" she called, reaching for him as he walked to the door. His expression was unmoved as he viewed her over his shoulder and turned the lock on the door shut. The latch clicked.
"I was ready for a fight to," he said with his hands burrowed into his trouser pockets and strode back to Akane's bed, dragging the surprised girl with him.

"You should pay better attention to your surroundings, I could be anyone," he warned, burying his face in the crook of Akane's neck and sighed with a shudder as her scent finally filled him.
"If you ask me, anyone would be preferable to you. I doubt I'd be manhandled like this by anyone else in the Night Class." Akane retorted crossly, trying to stop him from winding his arms and legs around her body.

She flushed at once again being stuck in a compromising and dangerous position with this Vampire. Come on Akane! A Vampire is practically on top of you. Watch the fangs, not the hands!
"It's good no-one asked you then, isn't it?" His voice had been a sigh against her neck, causing a myriad of sensations to run the length of her spine.

Aido had missed this scent a lot more than he'd thought (or was willing to admit). The pain of being near Akane was nothing compared to the burning inferno he'd felt without her smell.
"Aido?" The girl squeaked after he'd finally stopped fidgeting.
"Hmm?" he replied, snuggling closer and running his nose along the curve of her neck, inhaling deeply.
"Your eyes. D-do you have any of those t-tablets?"

Aido stilled. He hadn't noticed Akane's trembling, trapped within the cage of his arms, until now. He rose on an elbow and looked down at the frightened Human beneath him. His eyes had been scarlet from the moment he'd caught her scent at the wall. He knew they frightened her more than even the thought of his fangs. With a final look over her frightened face, and somewhat please she wasn't turning away from his eyes this time, he climbed over her and off the bed.

He entered the small bathroom and downed three tablets with a full glass of water. Once he was sure his thirst was back under control (or as controlled as he could get around the Unfortunate), he walked back out to the bedroom.

Akane sat on her bed with her back against the wall and a leg pulled to her chest. She had her arms wrapped securely around her knee, while the other leg was stretched forward, her foot, dangling off the edge of the bed. She watched him carefully as he dropped down beside her and shuffled back against the wall, rested his head on her shoulder and turned his face into her neck to continue to greedily inhale her scent.

Akane shifted, moving from her bed and the Vampire on it to sit on Miu's bed, eyeing Aido uneasily.
"I'll answer them," she began. "Your questions," she clarified to his raised brow. "Whatever you want to know about or learn from me… if you're still willing to help us, that is..." She knew bargaining was probably the only way to get what she needed. She would tell Aido whatever he wanted to know.

Akane understood her situation here. She was only in this position because he got some adrenaline rush from teasing himself with the scent of her blood. At least that's what she thought he was doing. Regardless, she knew she was only allowed to keep her memories or even her life due to the threat of Kaname finding. She did wonder, however, how long that would continue to be a severe enough deterrent for Aido. She needed to make her decisions quickly and stick with them.

Akane had no idea about the things Aido knew about her, many she didn't know about herself. Even so, that wouldn't have surprised her. It would have shocked her to know, however, that Aido had been deeply upset that she'd moved away from him. It would have further surprised her to know that his disappointment was not just due to her scent being taken away, but rather, he'd enjoyed her presence.

The feel of her hair brushing lightly over his face when he'd moved his head against her neck. The blush he'd caused on her cheeks had delighted him, and the quickened drumming of her heart had charmed him. He'd been comfortable in her company, something he hadn't been with another for a long time, but she hadn't been comfortable and never had been.

He frowned but quickly straightened his expression into a more ambiguous look before she turned back to him for his answer. He'd realised in their time apart that he wouldn't be learning what he wanted about Unfortunates from her directly, due to the simple fact that she didn't know what she was. Her genetics were all he could rely on. However, he wasn't convinced he'd be able to control himself around a fresh sample of her blood, and couldn't take it anywhere near The Moon Dorms, but he was almost maddened enough by the mystery to consider it.

"I am curious about this Vampire of yours," he began thoughtfully, a cocky grin spreading across his face, hiding his frustration from the Human, who was practically begging for his help. "But I want something else from you Nakamura, say yes, and I won't ask you another question about him. I'll even give you the information you need."
"Deal!" Akane held out a shaking hand. Her eyes blazed with determination.

Aido's handsome grin turned devilish. He grabbed the Human's outstretched hand with a chuckle and pulled her forward, bringing her to kneel with his legs on either side of her shoulders. He wrapped his arms around her torso and pulled her close, pressing her against his chest and trapping her arms under his. He lifted her chin, bringing their faces together, so close their noses touched. He laughed again as that blush he so enjoyed appeared on her cheeks, and quickly spread.

"You agreed before I told you what I wanted Nakamura. You should be careful, who knows what I could make you do?"
"I made an educated guess, you are a Vampire," was her blasé response, despite the tremor he felt in her body. His eyes widened. He hadn't expected that and sat up straighter in his shock. Is she saying what I think she's saying? Is she crazy!
"You'd give me your blood?" he asked the Human he'd forced to practically kneel at his feet.
"I-if you are going to help, and if you swear you won't k-kill me in the process…" She sighed unsteadily, knowing how dangerous this agreement would be "I'll give you whatever it takes."

Akane's declaration was earnest. She had nothing to offer as payment except herself, and he was a Vampire, he needed blood and enjoyed her scent. She understood that was the extent of a Human's value to him. Even though the thought petrified her, she really would do everything and anything in her power to help him. He was all she had, she'd do anything, including, allowing a Vampire she barely knew to feed on her to find a way to save him.

Akane had first come to Cross Academy, to run from him and all that had happened, in the naive hope of a more normal life. She'd wanted to hide and pretend that she was like everyone else, just a faceless teenage girl at a school, parents were proud to send their children to. Meeting Aido and finding out about the secret of the Night Class, and what had been hidden from the entire world, had changed that. If those secrets could help her find a way to free him, then she would do anything this arrogant, perverted psychopath wanted her to. Besides, he would find her, she knew he would, but if she could learn what she needed before then, maybe a 'normal life' didn't have to be just a fantasy.

Aido frowned. Such loyalty for someone who hurt and marked you so violently… why? Why is he so important to you? He pulled her back up onto the bed and lay her down like they'd been before he'd gone to tend to his thirst. He hovered over her frightened face as she struggled to control her breathing and force her body to relax. Her eyes were closed to block out the sight of the handsome nightmare above her, hoping he'd get it over with quickly.

"Why would you risk your life for someone who hurts you?" The quiet question startled Akane. She opened her eyes to look at the mildly baffled face above her.
"H-he doesn't want to," was her reply, to which Aido, snorted disbelievingly.
"Yeah, he had you all to himself, drank from you so much, the back of your neck looks like the Nazca Lines…" A hand rose to the back of her neck, insecure at the mention of her scars. She looked up, stung, and confused by the Vampire. "Tells you he's sorry, that he doesn't really want to hurt you but still does, and that's enough for you? I've had more than enough opportunity to feed on you Nakamura, but I've managed to control myself."
"It's not a matter of control, Aido," she defended hesitantly.

This wasn't something she'd planned, and he did say he wouldn't ask, but she felt obliged to explain.
"He's compelled to do it. He doesn't have a choice. She forces him to drink from me, then he leaves, to go to her." Aido's eyes widened in a somewhat comical realisation at what he'd uncovered.
"A Pureblood is using him as a courier to ferry your blood back to her!" Akane nodded, already coming to this conclusion.
"At the time, I only knew that after he'd… you know. He'd have to go to her. He could be gone for days sometimes, or maybe it was only a few hours? I was always just in and out of it for a while. But when you explained Purebloods, I guessed she couldn't bite me herself, not without turning me, so must be using him to get my blood for some reason."

Aido thought in silence for a long while, so long that she began to shift uncomfortably still trapped beneath him. This Pureblood had known about Akane and had kept her hidden, using this Vampire to care for her and bring back her blood, unnoticed by anyone. Who is this Pureblood? His eyes came back into focus and asked the Human just that.
"I don't know, I never really saw her."
"Never really?"
"I think I might have seen her, once," Akane revealed quietly, averting her eyes from him to look at the wall. "The day my parents were attacked." Again, this was not what she wanted to be doing. He was a Vampire, and he knew more about her life than her current friends would ever know. This is so messed up! This creature should not be the first person I tell this to! What the hell did she want? Why didn't she just come back and finish it?

Aido watched as a silent tear slid from her angry eyes. He didn't wipe it away, and none followed the lonely droplet. Akane had cried for her parents, countless times already and now, when she thought of them, it stung tremendously for a moment before total numbness took over, until she felt more like herself. Akane daren't feel too much, she'd trained herself to stop the flood of tears before they started, for his sake. He hates it when I cry.
"Sorry," she apologised softly.

It was at this time, Aido noticed the Sun had completely set. The realisation he'd have to go back to his dorm and leave this scent behind caused such a crushing hunger, he hadn't been ready for it. His arms would tighter, pulled her closer and snuggled back under her chin, inhaling the sweet scent. One hand travelled under her back while the other sank into her hair, pulling her head back further, to expose more of her neck to him. His legs tangling with hers, finally anchoring her to the bed.

The terrified and trembling girl was pulled flush against the Vampire, but she forced herself to keep still as he ran his nose along her neck, unhurriedly followed by his tongue. She knew what he meant to do and tried to prepare herself as best she could. She remembered the pain of those sharp fangs digging into her flesh, the throbbing she'd feel in her lungs and heart as the blood was dragged through her veins to the small holes in her neck, feeding the beast responsible.

She screwed her teary eyes shut, her hands fisting the sheets for dear life, breathing in short, frightened gasps, but nothing came. With a regretful sigh, Aido's tongue left Akane's neck before he moved off and away from her.
"I already told you, Nakamura. If I took what I wanted from you, you wouldn't wake up. I don't have a Pureblood master to compel me not to kill you. I'll take your time instead, for now, until I think of another way to get my answers from you."

The Vampire stood and walked to the door, listening for the Day Class girls closing their doors and preparing to settle down for the night.
"Why? What could you possibly learn from me?" Akane demanded as she quickly manoeuvred to stand next to her bed.
"Everything!" Aido meant this in a quite different sense than Akane imagined, and thoroughly enjoyed her dumbfounded expression, along with the blush that exploded across her face.

He chuckled on his way out the door, throwing back two more blood tablets as he heard the lock click behind him. Now, however, as he stood in the hallway already picking up the difference in the strength of Akane's sent, with the door between them. A small glimmer of doubt lit in his mind. Was he putting himself through this just to know more about Unfortunates and their origins? Of course! But messing with the little Human can be a fun way to pass the time too. With another devious grin, he strutted out of The Sun Dorms with confidence, but still, that seed of doubt lingered in the back of his mind.
