Chapter 4: Stranger

Nessie's POV

It was Saturday and I could not be any happier. Justin had just told me that my foster parents would be away on businesss until next Monday. That meant a whole week that I wouldn't have to deal with their constant torture. I could do whatever I wanted. Eat whatever I wanted and they would be nonethewiser.

I spent the morning trying to figure out how I was going to spend my free time. When I was younger my mom would often take me to the Safari Park and SeaWorld because I loved animals so much. The best part of living in San Diego all my life meant that we could go whenever we wanted. But I hadn't been to either park since my mom died. The thought of going without her made me sad. I wasn't sure I was ready for that just yet. So I opted to go to the beach instead.

I had to walk all the way to the beach. But thankfully the beach was not that far from where I lived. At the beach I was the odd girl out since I was not wearing a bathing suit. Even I still owned one that fit I wouldn't wear since I had to cover up all the bruises that were still in various stages of the healing process.

As soon as I settled in I pulled my book out of my bag and started reading. In a way it all still seemed like one crazy dream to me. Even as I sat their reading Twilight for the third time. This book was number one all over the world right now. Getting fifteen percent every single book sale meant that that I was seeing an amount of money I never thought I'd see.

I'd just have to survive two more years of hell and then I would finally be able to move out. I'd move out on my 18th birthday and buy a nice house for myself. As long as my foster parents didn't kill ke before then. I sighed. My anxiety started to grow.

Something, or rather someone, caught my attention out of the corner of my eye. I tried to pretend that I didn't notice him but it was impossible to ignore the half naked God staring at me. The guy was at least six feel tall and he had muscles everywhere. It took all of my effort to not stare at him.

"That's an interesting booking you're reading there,"

When I looked up from my book again I realized, to my horror, that six foot God was bow now right in front of me and talking to me. My eyes traveled the length of his body before locking onto his eyes. The man gasped in shock and fell to his knees. I felt a strong and sudden intense bond between the two us thag hadn't been there before. An attraction that I couldn't deny. Something I was sure that he felt also.

I mentally slapped myself. He was talking to me and instead of responding like a normal human being I was acting like I didn't have a functioning brain.

"Yeah it is. I really like. I'm sorry. Who are you?"

The boy smiled at me. My heart instantly melted.

"My name is Jacob Black,"

Jacob Black. Just like the character in my story. My mom's werewolf character I should say. Coincidence.

"Well it's nice to meet you. I'm Renesmee. But you can call me Nessie,"

"Nessie? Like the loch ness monster?"

I laughed. "Yeah exactly like the loch ness Ness monster. So where are you from? I don't think I have ever seen you around," Actually I was certain I'd never seen him around.

"That's because I have just decided to move here. I'm actually from Forks, Washington. Well technically I'm from the Quileute reservation,"

My heart skipped several beats. This was all just one strange coincidence.

"You don't happen to know the girl who wrote that book. Do you?"

"Nope," I lied as quickly as I could. Maybe it was too quick. "Why do you ask?"

"It's nothing really. I just wanted to meet her. Though you might know her since she's also lives in San Diego,"

"San Diego is a pretty big city. We don't all know each other here like you all probably do in Forks," of course he'd gotten in right on the first try but I was not about to make him aware of that fact.

"You're right and I'm sorry for assuming. How about you let me make it up to you and I buy you lunch?"

"Yeah. Sure. I mean yes," My cheeks had to be as red as a tomato right now.

"You're really cute when you ramble,"

I would have been perfectly happy if a hole opened up in the floor right then and there and swallowed me whole. Yes. That would be the perfect escape to this embarrassing situation I'd found myself in. I couldn't say anything. I was speechless.

I nearly jumped out of my skin when he grabbed my hand. He was hot. Literally. He felt like he had a fever.

"Are you feeling okay?" I asked him.

"Because you feel like you have a fever,"

"Don't worry about that Nessie. I'm fine,"

"Are you sure? Because your hand almost lit me on fire,"

He laughed. Another strange thought occured to me. Not only was his name Jacob Black but he lived in on the Quileute reservation near Forks, Washington and also his skin was burning hot to the touch. So similar to the wolf Jacob my mother had told me about. The Jacob I had written about. This was one hell of a freaky coincidence.

"Come on Nessie let's go eat and talk. I really want to get to know you,"

"Yeah I want to get to know you to," Had those words really just come out of my mouth?

"So when did you move here?" I asked him as we walked down the beach and ate hot dogs we'd just gotten from the hot dog stand.

"Actually I just got in this morning," he explained. "We unpacked everything this morning. I couldn't wait to explore the city so here I am,"

"When you say we we do you mean your parents?" Oh what kind of question was that? I was definitely going to kick myself later for this.

"No I just turned 18 a few months ago. I just moved out here with my son. I mean my brother,"

"Well which is it your son or your brother?"

"Technically Ben is my brother. He's only only fourteen years old. But I have been taking care of him since our parents died a few years ago. He wasn't too happy about my sudden decision to move out here. In fact he was downright furious that he'd have to leave all of his friends behind,"

"Then why did you suddenly decide to move out here?"

"Because of that you're book reading. I want to meet the author,"

"Wait a minute. Let me see if I got this right. You suddenly decided to uproot your entire life and move out here with your son. I mean brother. Just to find the girl who wrote this? You sound like some crazy super obsessed fan," and yet I found that really hot for some reason.

"Not just that,"

"Then what?"

"It doesn't matter. But moving here definitely has had at least one extra perk I wasn't expecting,"

"What is it?"

"You,"

"Me?"

"I like you Renesmee,"

I lost track of time that I spent with Jacob. Before I knew it was already three in the afternoon. We had left the beach awhile ago and were walking along the street when Jacob suddenly froze. His face contorting into a look of anger.

"Damn leeches. I should have known they'd come here to. 17 years without seeing them is not long enough. They're always in the way,"

"Jacob what are you talking about?" I asked, completely baffled by his behavior and words.

"Sorry Nessie nothing. Look I'm sorry but I have to go right now,"

"What-"

Just like that he disappeared. Vanished as if he had never been here in the first place.
