Lexie had been absolutely miserable the past week. She missed John so much. She didn't know it but he was just as miserable. It was Thanksgiving day. It was six o'clock in the morning. Lexie's alarm clock had just gone off. She shut it off but she'd been up for an hour. Since breaking up with John she'd had trouble sleeping. She'd cried herself to sleep every night that week. Lexie and the kids were flying to Kim and Randy's for Thanksgiving. They'd all packed the night before. They ate breakfast and went to the airport. They'd gotten to the house at around eleven o'clock in the morning. They'd just walked through the door.
Kim came up to them holding Brooklyn. "Hi." Kim said smiling.
"Hi." Lexie said.
"Lexie, Lexie." Brooklyn said.
"Hi Brooklyn." "Where are my nephews?"
"Well one of them is right here." Michael said coming up to her. "Hi aunt Lexie."
"Hi Michael." They hugged. "Where are your brothers?"
"Upstairs playing video games." "Hi guys." He said looking at Max and Marybeth. They both said hi. "Do you want to come upstairs and play video games with us?" "Yeah." They both said.
"Just make sure you behave."
"We will mommy." Max said. The kids went upstairs.
Lexie and Kim went into the kitchen. Randy was there.
"It smells good in here." Lexie said. "Hi Randy."
"Hi." Randy said. They hugged.
"Is Alanna here?"
"No." "She's with Samantha." "I get her on Christmas."
"I was hoping to see her."
During dinner Randy could sense something was wrong with Lexie. Even though she was doing her best to cover it up. After dinner they were both in the kitchen alone.
"Can I talk to you?" Randy asked.
"Yeah." They went into the pantry.
"What's wrong Lexie?"
"Nothing, I'm fine."
"I know about you and John, he told me."
"Did you tell Kim?"
"No."
"Good." "I broke up with John."
"That's what's wrong."
"Yeah." "I know I made the right choice but we've only been broken up for a week, and it's killing me." "I miss him so much." She said with tears in her eyes. "I love him." She started to cry.
"Come here." They hugged. "Ssh, it's ok."
John was at his parents house for Thanksgiving. He was outside by himself. John Sr. came out.
"Son, is something bothering you?" John Sr. asked.
John explained what happened. "I don't know what to do dad." "I'm falling apart here."
"Do you love her?"
"Yes."
"Would you want to spend time with her children?"
"I'd be willing to try."
