Episode 34: |My New Story! Cure Fable Returns! |

"Bukku! Bukku, honey~piji. You have to go to bed, dear~piji."

"Can't sleep, Mom! I can't sleep~buku! I'm wide awake~buku! I could stay up for a thousand nighttimes~buku!"

Queen Peiji giggles. "Is that so~piji? Then, I guess I'll have to cast a sleeping spell on you, my little goof~piji."

Young Bukku blinks up at his mom. "A sleeping spell~buku? Those don't exist~buku!"

"Of course they do~piji," smiles Queen Peiji. "It's a legendary incantation that works everytime~piji. I used it on your big brother when he was your age~piji. The spell is called 'Bedtime Story'~piji."

"Yay~buku!" cheers Bukku. "Story time~buku! Story time~buku! Tell me a story, Mom!"

King Sutori pokes his head through the bedroom door. "Is our young prince drifting off to sleep, luv?"

The Queen smiles up at her King. "Actually, I was just about to start my Legendary Bedtime Story Spell~piji."

"Bedtime Story Spell~sutu?" echoes King Sutori confusedly. "What is that~sutu?"—Queen Peiji glares at her love—"Of yes~sutu! Y-yes, of course~sutu! Your Magnificent Bedtime Story Spell~sutu! Ha-ha~sutu."

"Nice save, father," snorts Kuiru as he nestles down on a pillow beside his baby brother. "I wouldn't mind hearing one of mother's stories~kuru."

"You have a request~piji?" asks Queen Peiji.

Kuiru's eyes light up. "Please tell my favourite fairytale~kuru. The Music Box and Four Guardians of Magic~kuru!"

"Ooooh~sutu. Now, that's a good one~sutu," hums King Sutori as he crouches down beside his queen. "Please, tell that one, dear~sutu."

Young Bukku tips his head to the side. "The Four Guardians of Magic~buku?"

Queen Peiji nods her head. "Yes~piji. They were the fairy partners of the Legendary Warriors~piji."

There name rolls of Young Bukku's tongue like a miracle. "L-Legendary Warriors~buku."

"The Pretty Cure~sutu," says King Sutori with a nod of his head with each word. "However, no one in Fanciful Kingdom has seen a Pretty Cure in nearly one-hundred-year~sutu. But, my father told me the story of his father and his father's father who once protected our world from falling into darkness~sutu."

"Now, now, dear~piji," coos Queen Peiji. "You're giving the story away~piji."

"Yeah, spoilers, father~buku!" squeaks Bukku.

"Oh~sutu! Sorry~sutu!" chuckles King Sutori.

"Alright~piji," grins Queen Peiji, closing her eyes. "Let's start this incantation the best way I know how~piji. Once upon a time...

"One-hundred-years into the past, our home, Fanciful Kingdom was first built and four legendary warriors protected it and all of our futures~piji. The White Cure of Love, Cure Cherish, was known for her unmatched beauty, grace, and nurturing heart~piji. The Yellow Cure of Magic, Cure Mystic, had a bright spirit and sparkling smile~piji. The Cyan Cure of Wisdom, Cure Sage, had an old soul and a strong sense of morals~piji. Finally, their leader, who shined like a beacon of hope for the new kingdom was the Pink Cure of Dreams, Cure Fantasia. She had a boundless hope and selfless heart to guild the future towards tomorrow.

"Cure Fantasia is my favourite~kuru," whispers Kuiru to his baby brother.

Queen Peiji carried on. "Alongside the Pretty Cure of the Past were their fairies, their partners~piji. They watched over us and protected us from darkness~piji. At least, that's how it was supposed to go~piji. Until one fateful day, a dark being came out of the shadows that would make our world fall to despair~piji. That being was known only as Dead End!

"The Pretty Cure of the Past couldn't defeat Dead End. His dark magic and their light magic match each other blow-for-blow~piji. Neither side backing down~piji. Neither side giving up to the other~piji. This left the Pretty Cure and their fairy partners only one choose~piji. If they couldn't defeat Dead End, they would banish him~piji.

"To imprison a powerful evil, they had to also imprison a powerful good~piji. That amount of magic required a terrible price~piji. To end the stalemate, the Pretty Cure of the Past gave up all of their powers~piji. They imprisoned Dead End on the border of our kingdom while the fairy partners were sealed away inside a music box and disappeared~piji."

Young Bukku frowns. "This...this story sounds...really sad~buku."

Queen Peiji nods her head with a soft smile. "Yes~piji. Yes, it is sad~piji. But, sadness doesn't last forever~piji. There is more to this fairytale then just sadness~piji."

"Wh-what do you mean~buku?"

"The Pretty Cure of the Past never saw their fairy partners ever again, but that doesn't mean they were truly gone~piji. They lived on in everyone's hopes and dreams~piji. An invisible force that is still protecting us now~piji. Even to this day~piji. That is how they became known as the Four Guardians of Magic~piji.

"The Pretty Cure and the Four Guardians of Magic lost their powers, but they imprisoned the greatest evil and saved us all~piji. Without them, we all would have fallen to darkness~piji."

"Wh-what happened to them~buku?" says Bukku, shyly playing with one of his ears. "Th-the Pretty Cure of the Past…what happened to them, mother~buku?"

"Although the Pretty Cure could no long transform, their lives still continued~piji. They continued walking down the path of light~piji. They were able to live their dreams, have their own families, and look forward with hope for the future still in their hearts~piji. You see, Bukku~piji? Their sacrifice wasn't for nothing~piji."

"I...I think I understand~buku," murmurs Bukku. "Pretty Cure...Pretty Cure real are amazing, aren't they~buku?"

Queen Peiji nods her head with a gentle smile. "They are~piji."

"Yeah! Pretty Cure are the greatest~kuru!" beams Kuiru. "I hope someday I can become a Pretty Cure's fairy partner~kuru!"

"Hopefully, it will never have to come to that~sutu," says King Sutori, his mustache bobbing up and down as he speaks. "For light to have to rise up, darkness must be threatening to crush it~sutu."

"R-Right," mumbles Kuiru.

"Have you ever met a Pretty Cure~buku?" asks Bukku with wide eyes.

Both Queen Peiji and King Sutori shake their heads. "Only in fairytales~piji."

"But..." says King Sutori. "If you are ever curious about them, you can ask Kouzai."

Bukku's ears perk up. "K-Kouzai? You...you mean Kuroizado?"

"Oh, right~sutu," chuckles King Sutori with a sweat drop on the side of his head. "That silly nickname of his~sutu." He brushes his paws along his silver mustache. "Well, in any case, he doesn't like to brag about it, but Kuroizado is a descended of Cure Fantasia, the Pretty Cure of Dreams~sutu."

Young Bukku's eyes light up. "What~buku? No way~buku!" Bukku's crimson eyes sparkle with admiration. "Just when I thought Kuroizado couldn't be any cooler~buku!"

Kuiru nods his head in agreement. "Yep~kuru! Kuroizado is the best~kuru!"

Bukku lets out a soft yawn as he snuggles deeper into his blankets. "I hope…I really do hope I can meet a Pretty Cure…" he yawns again, his eyes getting heavy. "The Four Guardians of Magic too~buku. I…I want to meet one…meet one…and say thank you~buku."

Queen Peiji gives her son a light kiss on his forehead crest. "In that case, I'm most than positive that your dream will be made real, my precious son~piji."

"Don't get his hopes up, luv," says King Sutori as he himself yawns. "I would love nothing more for the Four Guardians of Magic to return to us, but that also means that Dead End would be let out~sutu. We can't let that happen~sutu."

"I know, dear~piji," whispers Queen Peiji as she places a blanket over her king. "But, that shouldn't stop our boys from dreaming~piji."

Queen Peiji looks over to see Kuiru had crawled into bed with his baby brother and they were both sound asleep.

She kisses both sons on their crests before blowing out the candle and quickly tiptoeing to the door and closing it softly behind her.

However, she nearly jumps out of her skin as she spins around and bumps into a dark figure.

"Oh~piji!" gasps Queen Peiji, trying to keep her voice down for her family. "Kouzai—I mean—Kuroizado? Oh my goodness, I am so sorry~piji. I didn't see you there~piji."

"…"

Kuroizado made no sound as he looks down at the Queen, his indigo-coloured eyes darkened by the bags under them. Even his pale skin was sickly paler than usual and his bangs were overgrown and covered half of his face. He wasn't even wearing his Royal Wizard's cloak. He was dressed all in black that slept over his shoulders like he had just thrown it on nonsensically.

"Are…are you alright~piji?" she asks. "Doing some late-night studying~piji?"

"…"

Kuroizado starts to head back to his studies.

"W-wait, Kuroizado!" hollers Queen Peiji, reaching out to hold his hand. "I…I'm sorry if I'm speaking out of place, but I…I understand~piji. You're still upset about Hikaru. It's been…it's been so long~piji. Too long~piji."

"I'm fine," says Kuroizado finally. "More than fine in fact."

Kuroizado turns his head slightly to look back at Queen Peiji. He smiles down at her. "I…I think I've made a breakthrough in my studies. Just wait, Your Highness. This will change the way we see magic forever."

As Kuroizado disappears down the corridor to his study, Queen Peiji couldn't help but feel an uneasy feeling wash over her. The smile the young wizard gave her…it was a smile she had never seen him make before. It wasn't kind or gentle. It almost looked obsessed and twisted.

Ever since Hikaru left, Kuroizado had been locking himself away in his studies, rarely coming out only to help Kuiru with his magic. That was the only thing that kept the spark in his eyes from going out. But, even since Queen Peiji had her second son, Bukku, he seemed to have brought back the light in Kuroizado's heart. He started smiling again, connecting with others again. He and Bukku became close friends, but…maybe it's not enough. Maybe he's retreating back into the shadows again.

Queen Peiji wants to the chance to talk to Kuroizado again, talk to her king, but decided it would be best to leave it for tomorrow.

Tomorrow.

The day that dark magic returned.

The day Dead End was freed.

One-hundred-years.

For one-hundred-years, the Music Box with the Four Guardians of Magic sealed away inside had never been seen.

But now, the Music Box of the Past Cures was in the hands of Imari Suzukawa. The new Pretty Cure of Dreams. Cure Fable.

She transforms and bursts through her orb of rainbow-coloured light. The moment her feet touch the black sea of dark magic, it dissolved around her, creating a giant circle of bright green grass and small spring flowers to bloom in its place.

Cure Fable opens her eyes, the deep magenta shining with unwavering determination right at Linda.

"Tch!" Linda hisses as she tries to hide her flinching. "S-stay back!"

Cure Fable takes one step forward. The dark magic frizzles around in another purified circle surrounding her.

"S-stay—stay away!" cries Linda as she sends her three Endingu charging at the Pink Cure. "Don't you dare touch me! Don't just stand there, you idiot Endingu! Get her! Destroy her! Do it NOW!"

"Endingu!" All three Endingu roar as they charge at the Pretty Cure of Dreams.

"I-Imari!" gasps Masato.

The Enchant Endingu pushes past the other two, drawing its sword of dark magic and aiming it at Cure Fable's head. It's point only an inch away.

"Dreaming Meadow!" Cure Fable murmurs.

The purified circles expand into one and reach every corner of the park, the flash of light ending the Endingus flying. Linda takes to the sky to jump out of the way as the monsters come crashing down around her.

"Aurora Dome!" murmurs Cure Fable as she closes Masato off from the fight with an aurora-coloured shield. "Stand back. I'll save them. I promise."

"G-get up!" Linda screams at them. "What are you doing?! GET HER!"

The Mythical Endingu manages to get up first and charges blindly at Cure Fable. "Endingu!"

It smashes its arms down like a hammer.

Cure Fable jumps backward and dodges the attack. She lands on her hands. "Pink Pinwheel!"

Cure Fable twirls into a windmill, creating a pink-coloured storm of petal-shaped light magic, sending the Mythical Endingu to guard against the magical wind. Cure Fable pushes herself off with her arms straight at the monster. "PreCure Kick!"

Cure Fable strikes the Mythical Endingu right in the stomach. But, she wasn't finished yet. She goes with the monster as it smashes to the ground on its back. Cure Fable crotches down and places her open palm on its chest. "Goodnight Bomb!"

A pink orb with a red heart sticks the Mythical Endingu. The heart begins to flash. Cure Fable jumps away as it flashes faster and faster. As she lands on the ground, the pink orb explodes, covering the Endingu in a pink-coloured smoke.

Cure Fable didn't have much time to catch her breath as the Enchant and Kuiru Endingu get to their feet and ambush the pink warrior together.

The Kuiru Endingu throws an arm at Cure Fable. She blocks the attack with one arm as the Enchant Endingu strikes her at her feet. Cure Fable grabs hold of the Kuiru Endingu's arm for support as she swings back and kicks the Enchant Endingu in the chest. Then, as they all fall, Cure Fable, still holding the Kuiru Endigu's arms, swings the monster like a baseball bat, spins around, and strikes the Enchant Endingu with the other Endingu's body.

As the two monsters fall on top of each other, the Mythical Endingu comes back for more and tries to attack Cure Fable with her back turned. The Endingu hits her, but doesn't feel the impact and looks down in confusion. Cure Fable's Dream Bubble protected her.

"Dreaming Bounce!"

Still inside the Dream Bubble, Cure Fable rockets off the ground at the monster, sending it tumbling backwards. The bubble pops and Cure Fable is high in the air, looking down at all three Endingu.

"Double Fable KaBoom!"

Two orbs of light magic popping like fireworks appear in each hand and Cure Fable sends them down on the Enindgu below. One was for the monsters. The other, however, was for Linda.

Cure Fable throws it right at Linda.

The Leader of the Dark Charm Knights holds out her hand and catches the orb of light. She crushes it in her fist, the attack disappearing in a dark magic fire.

"How dare you try to attack ME!" curses Linda, the eyes on her legs bulging out every which way in a blind rage.

"And how dare you turn my friends into Endingu," says Cure Fable, her collected voice contrasting the uncontrolled rage in Linda's. "So, I guess we're even now."

"Not even close, you twintail princess Powerpuff Girl freak!" yells Linda, her flames of dark magic creeping up from her hands, up her arms, and covering her entire body. "You can't beat me! I'm the new queen of this world! You are nothing! Do you hear me?! NOTHING!"

"Oh, I heard you," says Cure Fable. "I just decided that you're wrong and tuned you out."

Linda's eyes light up red with rage. "You—YOU!" Suddenly, Linda's anger melts away and turns into a wave of crazed laughter. "You think you can challenge me?! You—you think you can defeat ME?!"

Linda snaps her fingers and the three Endingu below them suddenly go limp. The dark magic chains entrapping Tomoka, Nijiko, and Kuiru break and they fall down. Masato wastes no time as he rushes over to help his friends, but they were still under Linda's dark magic and they couldn't wake up.

"You want to play, Cure Fable?" cackles Linda. "Then…let's play~!"

The Endingu's corpses float up and begin circling around Linda. Cure Fable's eyes widen and she can only look on in horror as the Endingu start to fuse together and combine with Linda.

"I'll crush you!" roars Linda, her once refined voice turning warped, almost slurred and its cadence becoming distorted. "You and your dreams! You and your hope! I'll destroy you and everything that you love! CUUURE FAAABLEEE!"

A name that is meant to mean hope, the pink warrior has never heard it so full of hatred. Like Linda wasn't her existence to be completely erased. By her own two hands, she wants that to happen.

The face of Endingu Enchant melted into Linda's right shoulder, the face of Endingu Mythical fused to her the left-side of her thigh, and the face of Kuiru Endingu morphed into Linda's chest.

Her face becomes swollen and disfigured, her cheeks and jaw became blotted, making her teeth grow and still out of her lips like thick fangs, and her eyes became mismatched with the three Endingu. One eye became enlarged and bloodshot while the other eye's iris split into three, one bright green for Enchant, one blue for Mythical, and emerald green for Kuiru. Linda's long hair becomes patchy with twisted locks from the Green and Blue Cure. Enchant's red braid tangled up in Mythical's low lilac-coloured pigtails and Kuiru's leaf-shaped ears. The beauty of Linda is no more.

She forcibly combined herself with the Endingu.

She is Lindingu.

Cure Fable's heart is thumping hard against her ribcage. She is afraid, but she still looks up and faces her enemy eye-to-eye.

"Ohmigod," breathes Masato with wide eyes as he whole body shivers. "That…she's…"

"ThAt'S rIgHt," Lindingu gargles as she runs her hand across her body. "YoU hAvE nEvEr SeEn AnYtHiNg As BeAuTiFuLlY dIvInE aS mE~."

Masato winces in disgust at her delusion.

"YeS~!" cackles Lindingu as she spreads her arms out wide to the sky, basking in the sunlight like the sun itself was a giant mirror, her eyes sparkling. "CaN yOu SeE mE, KuRoIzAdO-sAmA~? YoUr BeAuTiFuL qUeEn! YoUr PeRfEcT qUeEn!"

"You're not perfect."

Lindingu's smile vanishes. She slowly gazes her eyes down on the Pink Cure facing her unblinking.

"And you're not beautiful."

"WhAt?" hisses Lindingu as her fangs grind together. "WhAt DiD yOu JuSt sAy, YoU WoRm?!"

"True beauty is never perfect," says Cure Fable as she places a hand over her heart. "And it's something that cannot be seen in the mirror. True beauty is a light that shines in your heart. And nothing is more beautiful than someone who dreams of making life beautiful for others."

She tightens her hand into a tight fist. "But you…you dream to destroy everyone's futures. Your heart is rotten."

Lindingu's eyes flash bright red and her teeth sharp as Cure Fable's words shattered her like glass. "YoU…yOu—YoOoOoU!"

Lindingu hustles herself at the Pink Cure. She holds her arms out in a crisscross and blocks the attack. Lindingu keeps pounding on her, each strike getting stronger and stronger. "YoU aRe NoThInG cOmPaReD tO Me! YoU'rE jUsT a BuG! A bUg ThAt I cAn CrUsH uNdEr My FoOt!"

Lindingu brings her fists together and clubs Cure Fable, driving her down to the ground. She looks down with a warped smile. "HeRe, LeT mE sHoW yOu!"

This monster lets out an ugly roar as she plunges down at the pink warrior. She stomps down on what she thought was the Pink Cure's head in a cloud of dirt from the ground below. She relishes in her victory, her blood-red eyes sparking and her crimson lips curling up into a smile. However, her smile vanishes in a flash when the dust settles and sees her foot had only hit the bare ground below.

"You're wrong, Linda."

Lindingu hears the voice of her enemy. She jerks her head up to the sky. The Pretty Cure of Dreams had her body spread out like a starfish in the sky, her body blocking the sun as she looks down at the former Leader of the Dark Charm Knight.

"I'm not just a bug you can crush under your foot," says Cure Fable with a wide smile on her face. "I will shine brighter than all of the darkness! Like the sun!"

Lindingu gazes up in terror at this girl—this child who looks down at her.

Desperately, Linda lashes her misshapen arms up to grab at the pink warrior.

"Teleport Flash!"

In a stream of hot pink light, Cure Fable vanishes inches from Lindingu's claw and reappears. Lindingu tries again, but the Pink Cure disappears again and appears again out of reach in front of the sun with her body stretched out wide with the sunlight breaking through, casting a bright light around. In this light, she has a hopeful smile and determination shimmering in her bright pink eyes. But, it wasn't threatening. It wasn't her looming down at Lindingu like she's determined to destroy—it was an expression that was reaching a hand out to her. This girl's light was gentle and full of compassion.

And her smile…

Lindingu's body trembles. I…I know that smile. Because...because it's my favourite smile. My Master's. My Kuroizado-sama.

How?

How could this—this nobody be capable of creating the same beautiful smile as My Kuroizado-sama?

My favourite smile…

My creation wasn't beautiful. It was ugly. It was vicious, horrific. Like a chunk of me suddenly being forcibly combined with another lump of myself. It was painful. I tried to scream, but no sound came out as I drown in an ocean of darkness.

Help me…

Gruesome piece by gruesome piece, I was constructed. Each new arm, each new leg more painful than the next and every time I tried to cry or scream, thick dark magic would pour out of my eye and cough out.

Someone…please…

I scream out as long red locks suddenly sprout out from the top of my head and fall down my shoulders and back. I squirmed in pain as the tips of my fingers started to grow long nails and my left leg began to burn as a mismatch of eyeballs started dotted down, each one bursting out of my skin made me shriek.

I reach my hand out to nothing and nobody.

Someone…save me!

Then, suddenly, there was light.

All at once, a piercing light sent all the darkness away and what came through was the face of a man gazing down at her.

"D-Did it work?" the man asks, but I wasn't sure to who the question was directed at. "D-Did I do it?"

"Yes," rasps a voice I couldn't find the face to. "See, dark magic is incredible, is it not? With this power, you can create your own beings. Your own soldiers."

All I could do was blink up in fear and confusion at this man. Dark magic? Soldiers? What are they talking about?

"Stand up, you pathetic creature!" hisses the voice.

I flinch back and squeeze my eyes shut as the man kneels down.

"It's alright."

Hearing the gentleness in his voice, I hesitantly open my eyes and look up to see the man extending his hand out to me.

"I won't harm you," the man says as he offers me a kind smile.

He had deep indigo-coloured eyes that were looking at me and only me.

I reach out and take his hand. It was soft and so warm.

"Do you think you can stand?" he asks me.

I wasn't sure, but I nodded my head as he hoists me to my feet. I've never stood before. I didn't know what I was doing with these new legs and end up falling forward and crashing into the man. My face nestles into his strong chest. He grabbed me by the shoulders and I thought he was about to hit me. Instead, he laughed. But, it wasn't a harsh laugh or cruel. It was sweet and light-hearted.

"Goodness, you are a clumsy one, huh?" he chuckles as he pats me on the head. He runs his strong fingers through my maroon locks.

"It is far too weak," hisses that voice again. "A failed spell. Destroy it and try again!"

My eyes shoot wide open as my whole body starts to shake. No! Don't! Don't send me back to that sea of darkness! Please!

"Don't be ridiculous," snaps the man as he protective holds me closer. "I will not destroy a life. To me, she's perfect. Although"—the man hums and takes a moment to scratch his black chin puff—"she could use a name. Yah! That's it a name!"

A…a name?

The man lets go of me and looks me up and down. I suddenly feel self-conscious and gaze down at the ground.

"Oh! I got it!"

The man's enthusiasm made me jump in surprise.

He points at me like he was proclaiming a big declaration. "Your name will be Linda! There! It's decided!"

The man had eyes in his eyes like he was over the blue proud of himself.

I open my mouth. Instead of being swallowed up by darkness, I let the word—my name—lip out through my lips. "L-Linda?"

"Bingo!" the man says cheerfully.

"Linda Bingo?"

"Ah! No, no, no. Just Linda."

"And you will call him Master," says the voice.

"Nah," chuckles the man. "That's way too formal. I'm Kouzai Aisaki—but my friends just call me Kuroizado."

"Kuroizado?" I echo.

"Ha-ha. Yeah, weird nickname, right?" laughs the man. "My friend, Hikaru, gave it to me. He said 'Kouzai' isn't a grand enough name for me. Ha-ha. He blurted out the nickname and it stuck."

"It's your servant, not your friend," hisses the voice. "It doesn't need to know your whole life story."

"Hey," pouts the man. "She's not an 'it', she's Linda." He smiles warmly down at me. "You like it? It means 'beautiful'."

My eyes sparkle up at the man. The man with the most breathtaking smile I had ever seen in my short existence. To him, this thing, this being made out of him dark magic, was beautiful.

"Linda, yeah, I think it suits you perfectly."

That was the last time I ever saw him smile.

A cold tear runs down Lindingu's eye.

"I—I jUsT wAnT…"

Lindingu closes her eyes and accepts her destruction at the hands of the Pretty Cure of Dreams. Ready to disappear just like Xoanon. To drown in that sea of darkness forever. To stop existing.

"I jUsT wAnTeD tO sEe MaStEr'S sMiLe. My FaVoUrItE sMiLe. OnE lAsT tImE."

Lindingu waited for the Pink Cure to finish her off. For her light magic to burn her darkness away and make her fade away into nothingness.

"I don't see you as a bug either, Linda."

Lindingu hesitantly opens her eyes to see that the pink warrior was no longer soaring above her, but gently floating down to the ground and landing softly in front of her.

"I'm not going to just step on you like you're nothing more than a bug," says Cure Fable. "Because even a small bug is a living thing that deserves to have its life." She puts a hand to her heart. "I…I remember when Xoanon destroyed my PreHeartBook. How he destroyed himself and disappeared forever…"

Cure Fable's throat becomes raw as she swallows her tears. "I never want that to happen ever again." The Pink Cure kneels down in front of Lindingu. "I don't care that you were created by dark magic. If you can feel, if you can think, if you can dream, it doesn't matter if you have blood flowing through your veins or dark magic. You're a living being, Linda."

Cure Fable reaches her hand out to her. "I won't destroy a living being."

"I won't harm you…"

In that moment, Kuroizado's words flood Lindingu's mind.

"It is far too weak…destroy it and try again."

"Don't be ridiculous…I will not destroy a life…"

"…to me…she's perfect…"

Through the pink warrior, Lindingu sees Kuroizado. He's gentle eyes, his soft smile, and his kind hand extended out to her.

"I will protect everyone, Linda," says Cure Fable. "And that includes you. I want to protect you too. I…I want to save you from the darkness. I…"

Tears flood in her vivid pink-coloured eyes as she looks on at her enemy. "I want to make your dream come true. I want to help you bring back Kuroizado's smile."

Despite her ugly appearance, despite her monstrous face, Cure Fable wraps her arms around Lindingu into a tender hug.

Lindingu's eyes fill up with tears as she looks up at the sky, her tears sparkling in the light.

So warm…

Her hug is…so warm…

Cure Fable becomes cloaked in a pale pink light, surrounding her and Lindingu. Both of their tears turn into sparkles that softly disappear around them.

Unbeknownst to either of them, the Music Box appears between them and clicks open. Streams of pink, cyan, yellow, and white light shine out of the Music Box and enveloping them in a rainbow of light magic.

In Cure Fable's amazement, the four lights each take the form of a girl. The girl of pink-coloured light smiles at her before giving Cure Fable a nurturing hug. She was so warm and soft. The girls of cyan, yellow, and white follow suit and hug both Cure Fable and Lindingu.

The girl of pink-coloured light lets go of Cure Fable before turning to Lindingu. She gives her a bright smile before leaning forward and kissing her on the forehead. Like a kiss from a big sister or mother.

Lindingu closes her eyes as her lilac-coloured star mark under her left eye glows. Slowly, the three Endingu monsters start to melt away from her body and disappear in a flurry of bright sparkles and fade away within the grass and small flowers around them.

This time…all this time, I was drowning in darkness.

Now…I'm swimming in light.

She saved me…just like Kuroizado did.

I can finally…finally be at peace.

"I couldn't bring back Kuroizado-sama's smile," murmurs Linda as she collapses in the pink warrior's arms. "But…maybe…maybe you can."

As the girls of pink, cyan, yellow, and white-coloured light returns back inside the Music Box, Linda's whole body glows a soft, pale lavender-colour. Starting from the tips of her fingers and thin strands of hair, she begins to fade away, her body shimmering away and swirling around the Pink Cure.

"Please…" Linda mumbles, her voice growing softer. "Please save my Kuroizado…bring back his smile…Cure…Fable…"

As one last tear falls down her cheek, Linda fades away in a burst of pale purple sparkles that disappears in a gentle breeze around the Pretty Cure of Dreams.

Cure Fable feels a sudden wait in her palm. She looks down and slowly opens her hand. A violet star-shaped gem rests in the center of her palm. Linda's star mark.

"I will," croaks Cure Fable as her eyes glimmer with tears. Her tears run down her face and fall into her hands, splashing off Linda's star gem. "I promise." She squeezes the gem and holds it close to her chest. "I promise!"eaHe

The sound of glass breaking nearly makes Princess Kokona drop her silver tray she was carrying her father's meal on. "Papa?"

She hurries down the empty corridor towards the sound that came from her father's study.

As she gets to the end of the hall, she's surprised to see Thames leaning up against the door of the room. "Thames? Is Papa okay?"

Thames doesn't reply, just runs a hand over his cracked face and blackened out eye from his curse.

"Thames?" Princess Kokona tries again.

This time, she gets a reply. "She's gone. Your 'Papa' isn't too happy about that."

Princess Kokona's eyes widen. "Wh-Who's gone?"

Thames goes silent once again as he pushes himself off the wall with a leg and starts sulking down the hallway, leaving Princess Kokona all alone.

Princess Kokona looks back to the door of her father's study and hesitantly knocks on the door. "Papa?"

When her father doesn't reply, Princess Kokona takes a brave breath, opens the door, and shyly steps inside.

"Papa—?"

"GYAAAH!"

Princess Kokona lets out a scream and drops the tray as Linda's mirror is thrown at the walls only a few inches away from her. The last of the mirror crumbles in a pile of broken glass and wood before the poor princess as she looks past it at her father is shakily leaning over Linda's writing desk.

"Ooooh, what's the matter, pal?" hisses Kuroizado as his nails dig into the corners of the desk. "You upset? Your heartbreaking to pieces over it, huh? No need to get so shaken up. It was just a pathetic excuse of a servant."

Kuroizado lets out a horrific cry as he drags his arms across the desk, sending all Linda's books and papers scattering to the ground.

"Papa!"

Princess Kokona races over and hugs her father's desperate to stop his rage.

"Please, Papa," begs Princess Kokona as tears run down her face. "Please…"

"Be quiet, you pest!" roars Kuroizado as he raised his hand to her. But, as he rose his hand in the air, it halts. His hand began to tremble. Soon, his whole body was shaking. "You stupid—!"

Kuroizado gives up and falls to his knees, grabbing at his hand to stop it from shaking.

Princess Kokona hurries to her father and crotches down beside him. "Papa!"

He lets out a cruel laugh. "Trying to fight back, huh? You stupid wizard." His staggers to his feet, but his daughter quickly rushes to his side. She grabs him by his shoulders and helping him up.

"Papa, what's wrong?" asks Princess Kokona with wide eyes.

Kuroizado gives his head a shake as he runs his finger through his hair. "It appears…it appears another one of my weak li'l servants was defeated by the Pretty Cure. What a shame, it was the brighter one, too bad its emotions got in the way of victory."

"Big Sis Linda?" murmurs Princess Kokona as she stares off at nothing. "No." She looks up in despair at her father. "Why? Why are the Pretty Cure trying to destroy us? They seemed so kind. Especially the one with the bright smile."

"Kindness and smiles are easy to fake, my darling daughter," chuckles Kuroizado as he pats her hard on the head. "All the Pretty Cure care about it destroying everything we're trying to create. They destroy dreams."

Kuroizado grabs hold of his cape and sweeps it over the floors. In a swirl of black-coloured magic, everything that was Linda's disappeared. Her mirror, her writing desk, her bookshelves, her striped walls, and floor well melted away. All that remained was a blank room and four bare walls and floor. He made it all go away. Like the study was never Linda's. Like she never existed.

"My darling daughter," says Kuroizado. "I'm afraid I still don't have enough dark magic. I will need to borrow your magic." He offers her a hand. "Like when you made me that lovely hex pixie for that damaged one."

"Th-Thames?" stammers Princess Kokona.

"Yes, my dear. With the two of us together, we can make some."

Princess Kokona looks down at his open hand. "W-Will it hurt again?"

"If you're still weak," says Kuroizado as waves a hand over the room. A dark magic circle appears in the center of the room, placing Kuroizado on one side and throwing Princess Kokona to the opposite side. Kuroizado raises both arms in the air and begins the incantation.

As he finishes the spell, two bolts of midnight blue lightning shoot out from inside of the magic circle. One hits Kuroizado and the other strikes Princess Kokona. Kuroizado stands strong like an oak, but Princess Kokona winces in deep pain, trying to stand up on both feet as her magic starts to get drained out of her body. The colours drain from her magenta hair and violet eyes, turning dull pink and greyish purple.

Thames bursts through the door. "Master! What's going on in here?"

The dark magic lightning stops and Princess Kokona collapses to the ground, completely drained of energy.

Thames hurries over to her. He goes to help her up, but flinches when he catches a glimpse at his cracked hand. His bandages had loosened and he quickly rewraps it tightly to hide his curse's scars.

"Oh good, Temuzu or whatever your name is, perfect timing," grins Kuroizado. "I have two new servants to add to my collection."

As Princess Kokona manages to get back up with Thames by her side, two pairs of hands and feet bounce out of the magic circle in perfect sync with each other.

"Hiiii there losers~! I'm Leah~!"

"Heeeello there ya bunch of lemons~! I'm Lola~!"

The two new darklings hop out of the dark magic to welcome Princess Kokona and Thames. Princess Kokona hid behind Thames as the new Dark Charm Knights obnoxiously shove their faces into theirs.

The most obnoxious of the two of them, Leah, has bright orange hair up in a shaky ponytail that leads two much too the left. She had two different coloured eyes. The left is orange and the other is seafoam green with a four-leaf clover mark on her right eye.

The other sister, Lola, who is still very obnoxious, is a bit tidier than her clumsy-looking sister. She has sea green-coloured hair in a knotted ponytail with straight bangs. She has mismatched eyes too. The left eye is orange with a matching clover mark over it and the other seafoam green.

They have matching dresses, Leah wearing orange and Lola wearing a dull green. Leah's, however, has puffy sleeves while Lola has no sleeve at all. Leah wears puffy shorts too, but her sister doesn't, only one black-and-grey vertically striped legging on her right leg. Both had choke collars with studs. Leah has black an arm-length fingerless glove only on her right arm while Lola had a shorter glove on her left hand with the same stud collars around them.

"Are you our big brother in crime?" asks Leah with bright eyes at Thames.

"Are you our future ex-boyfriend?" wonders Lola, putting her head on top of her sister's.

"Who's the cute girl, is she a princess?" asks Leah, switching places with her sister.

"Who's the princess, she's cute," giggles Lola, squishing her face against her sisters.

"Nice to meet you both," the twins say in perfect unison. "Let's drown the world in dark magic together~! Big Bro and Big Sis~!"

Princess Kokona buried her head deeper into Thames's chest who places an arm around her shoulders.

"Tomoka! Ōmitsu! Wake up! Wake up!"

"Kuiru! Wake up, dummy~buku! You won't believe what just happened~buku!"

Masato gently shakes Tomoka's shoulder while Bukku jumps up and down on his older brother's head.

Unsatisfied with his friend coming to, Masato flicks Tomoka in the forehead.

"Ow!" yelps Tomoka, popping up to quickly rub her forehead where a red mark now rests.

"Good morning, sunshine," grins Masato mischievously.

"What happened?" mumbles Nijiko as she rubs the last of dark magic from her eyes. "My whole body feels sore like I just went through a pummeling match."

"In a way, you kinda did," says Masato with a bit of a chuckle.

"Wh-where's Imari?" asks Tomoka, looking around in a bit of a panic. "Linda tricked us! Imari—"

"Is fine," says Masato, trying to hide his smile. "More than fine actually. See for yourself."

Tomoka, Nijiko, and Kuiru out onto the park and all of their eyes fill with wonder.

Across the bright green grass and small yellow flowers stood Cure Fable, gazing up at the sky, her blonde pigtails blowing in the soft breeze as she holds a star gem to her heart.

She turns and notices her newly awoken friends. She closes her eyes and detransforms. Her long blonde hair and bright pink eyes return to normal. Her legendary warrior outfit fluttered back into her ordinary skirt and pink coat.

Just like that, she was Imari Suzukawa once more.

"It's a miracle~kuru," breathes Kuiru.

Bukku smirks. "Nope~buku. It's Imari."

Imari rushes to her group with the Music Box in her hands.

Kuiru's emerald eyes widen. "Wait…is that…"

"It's a pretty cool music box, huh~buku?" grins Bukku. "And I—Prince Bukku De La Hope Wish Von Dream Star—can open it~buku!"

"Wh-wh—what~kuru?" stammers Kuiru. "Th-that's not possible~kuru."

Bukku pouts. "Yes, I can~buku. Watch~buku." As he says, into a puff, Bukku turns back into a key. He turns back into his fairy-form. Key. Fairy. Key. Fairy.

Kuiru's eyes grow to the size of two moons. "You…you're the Dreaming Heart Key?"

"Dreaming Heart Key?" echoes Nijiko. "What's that, Kuiru?"

"Because~kuru," says Kuiru, pointing to the Music Box in Imari's hands. "That is the Music Box of the Past Cures and the only way to open it is with the Dreaming Heart Key."

"Wh-what do you mean, Kuiru?" asks Bukku.

"What do you know?" wonder Tomoka as well.

"This doesn't make any sense," mutters Kuiru. "Bukku, do you remember the story Mother use to tell us to get you to go to sleep~kuru? The Music Box and Four Guardians of Magic~kuru."

"Yes~buku," perks up Bukku. "Yes, of course~buku. That one was my favourite~buku."

Kuiru smiles. "Mine too~kuru." He shakes his head. "A-Anyway, The Music Box and the Four Guardians of Magic~kuru." Kuiru points down to it on Imari's hand. "This is theMusic Box from the fairytale~kuru. The Music Box with the Four Guardians of Magic sealed away inside~kuru."

"Am I the only one who's lost here," chimes in Nijiko. "Can you translate for us humans please?"

"Once upon a time~kuru," starts Kuiru.

"The short version, please," interrupts Nijiko.

"Right~kuru," nods Kuiru as he gives himself a moment to find his words. "A hundred-years-ago, Dead End tried to destroy Fanciful Kingdom, far before Kuroizado. The Pretty Cure, alongside their fairy partners, tried to defeat him but couldn't~kuru. They had to make a sacrifice~kuru. Their fairy partners imprisoned themselves away in the Music Box while the Pretty Cure sealed their powers away into the Dreaming Heart Key and locked their fairy partners inside~kuru. The Music Box of the Past Cures and the Dreaming Heart Key disappeared, never to be seen again~kuru."

"Until now," hums Tomoka, looking down at the Music Box.

"It would appear so~kuru," murmurs Kuiru.

"Wait~buku," says Bukku. "But…but I transformed into the Dreaming Heart Key."

Kuiru shakes his head. "No, Bukku…I believe there's more to it than that. I…I believe your heart is the Dreaming Heart Key." He looks to Imari. "And Cure Fable's heart is the Music Box of the Past Cures."

Imari and Bukku exchange a look.

"I believe it might be destiny~kuru," says Kuiru. "The two of you…from the very beginning, you're destinies were entwined with one another~kuru. Like yin and yang~kuru. The sun and moon~kuru. The key to the lock~kuru."

"How about that, Imari," smirks Bukku with beaming eyes. "Our destinies were entwiged~buku."

"Entwined," chimes in Tomoka.

Imari laughs. "Who knew I was destined to meet a stuffed animal."

"I'm a prince~buku!" barks Bukku. "Prince Bukku De La Hope Wish Von Dream Star! Do you hear me~buku?!"

The group all share a laugh.

"Wait," murmurs Tomoka, twirling one of her thick locks. "What does this all mean, Kuiru?"

His eyes light up. "Well, I believe, with Bukku as the Dreaming Heart Key"—Bukku puffs out his chest proudly—"and the Music Box of the Past Cures with Imari…we might be able to let them out~kuru."

"Let who out?" asks Nijiko.

Kuiru smiles brighter than any of them had ever seen. "Why the Four Guardians of the Magic, of course~kuru."

"W-We can let them out?" says Tomoka. "Like…like right now?"

Masato frowns. "Shouldn't we do that somewhere more"—he looks around the local park—"more private."

Kuiru blinks at him. "Who are you~kuru?"

"My friend and he knows all about the whole Pretty Cure thing," clarifies Tomoka.

"Yeah, I got that~kuru," snorts Kuiru. "Other ways he would be losing his mind right now."

"Oh, I am," says Masato. "Just internally."

"Well," thinks Nijiko. "We could back to my apartment complex. We won't be disturbed there—?!"

Suddenly, the Music Box starts to shake violently in Imari's hands. It turns bright red, making Imari drop it and grabs at her hands. "Ow, it's…it was burning hot!"

Landing on the ground, the Music Box begins thrashing around on the group. A sound starts coming from inside the box, at first, it only sounds like something knocking around inside, trying to get out. But, soon, the group start to hear, not only sounds, but voices as well.

"Ouchie~subu! Stop stepping on my ears, Orenda!"

"That wasn't me~rena! It was Sen!"

"Don't you dare put the blame on me~nene!"

"All three of you, stop fighting~gozo!"

"Yes, listen to Gazo, our oh-so-great leader~subu!"

"You bite your tongue, Tsubusu!"

"KYAAH!"

The lid of the Music Box bursts open and the group is blinded by a burst of dark blue, turquoise, silver, and coral pink-coloured light. One after the other, four fairies pop out of the Music Box, falling on top of each other like dominos.

"Ouchie, ouchie~subu," groans the pink fairy, rubbing at her forehead. "Now my everything hurts~subu."

"Sen, you lazy oaf, get off of me~gozo!" barks the dark blue fairy, wiggling his arms fiercely, but with to no avail.

"Nah, I think I'm good where I am, Gazo," smirks the turquoise fairy, getting himself comfortable.

"The two of you are being ridiculous~rena," the silver fairy sighs disapprovingly sitting on top of them all. "And you're the oldest ones here~rena."

"Oh, don't talk all high and mighty, Orenda," pouts the pink fairy.

"I wouldn't have to if you all didn't act like a bunch of babies~rena," coos Orenda as she polishes the tips of her paws.

The Four Guardians of Magic fall silent as they all lookup. Imari, Tomoka, Nijiko, Masato, Bukku, and Kuiru all stare down at the four fairies.

"Or, y'know, right here is fine."
