Once upon a time, there was a kingdom known far and wide for its vast and unconditional love for their fellow man and their magnificent King and Queen. The King and Queen loved each other deeply. They loved each other more than anything and spread their love to every single person in their kingdom.
The King and Queen were soon overjoyed to learn that they were expecting their first child. A baby girl. The Queen was especially thrilled and made a flower garden for her unborn baby. Together, the two of them would give her all their love and share their beautiful kingdom with her. They decided that they would name their unborn child Kokona, for the heart full of love she would have and the beautiful garden the Queen grew for her.
However, the Queen suddenly grew very ill. She was able to carry and give deliver their baby girl but lost her life to do so. Kokona was born but wasn't welcomed by the loving arms of her mother or father, only the tears of the sorrowful kingdom, mourning the loss of their Queen.
The King had lost the love of his life and fell to despair. Darkness so deep that he is unable to love his daughter. The whole kingdom lost its light and love. Soon, the kingdom full of love started to crumble without the care of its people. The Queen's beautiful garden made for her daughter wilted and died.
The kingdom was filled with too many memories of the Queen.
The King decided that he and his people needed to start over in a brand new kingdom filled with new memories they could create together.

A Wizard that was betrayed by his kingdom saved Kokona. He used the last of his light magic, to bring her out of her fairytale. He promised Kokona that he would be her father. A father that would never abandon her and would always love her.
"Take her back to her room," orders Kuroizado.
"No problem, boss man~," chirps Leah as she links arms with Princess Kokona.
"Anything for you, Mr. Master~," grins Lola as she hooks herself on the princess's other arm.
Princess Kokona tries to break free, but the new sisters with like stone. "Papa, please. Please, don't send me back there! Let me stay with you!"
"You hear that, Lola~?" hums Leah as she pinches hard on the princess's cheek.
"Oh, quit your whining, prissy princess," pouts Lola, waving a finger at her. "Everybody knows princesses are supposed to shut their traps."
"Papa!" cries Princess Kokona.
"Go away!" roars Kuroizado, sealing himself off in his champer and throwing everyone else out and into the empty corridor.
"Look what you did, stupid princess," frowns Leah.
"You made Mr. Master pretty mad," sighs Lola. "You ruined our first impression!"
"Now then," says Leah, throwing her head back so abruptly the princess thought she broke it. "Off to the dungeon you go, girly~."
Princess Kokona desperately looks up for help from Thames, but he doesn't even look at her as he saunters towards to nearest window, opens it up, and flies out, heading up to the roof of Desolate Castle. Princess Kokona never meant to pry, but whenever she is allowed to wander the castle, she often would find Thames lounging around outside, lying on the roof and staring mindlessly up at the sky. He had been doing that a lot recently.
Princess Kokona could remember how he use to pull pranks on Xoanon, often successfully enraging him and he would get chased throughout the castle grounds. Other times he will be bothering Linda in her studies, pulling books off her shelves or stealing her pens. He was like their annoying baby brother. Princess Kokona hasn't seen or heard him laugh in a long time. Ever since Thames came back badly damaged from a fight with the Pretty Cure, he's barely spoken a word and kept to himself.
Princess Kokona misses Big Brother Xoanon and Big Sister Linda too.
Although they're beings created by her father's dark magic, they showed kindness in their own ways. Big Brother Xoanon would always lose his temper with her and often scolded her, she always tried to improve herself and Big Brother Xoanon started to run out of things to nitpick. Although he never told her outright, she knew he was appreciative.
Big Sister Linda would let me wander around her study and borrow the books she finished using. Princess Kokona always gave them back and Linda even started leaving a pile of books by her door for the princess to take. She didn't like it when Princess Kokona tried to thank her, but she knew how kind Big Sister Linda really was.
Little Brother Thames always visited Princess Kokona when she was locked in her room. He would tell her jokes, hide her belongings, and would bang on the bars and sing songs along with the sound. Although his singing was nonsensical and he had a bad sense of rhythm, Princess Kokona always appreciated the company.
With Papa, they were all like…like a family. At least, that's how Princess Kokona felt about it.
But, Papa said the Pretty Cure have been trying to destroy their family. They took away Xoanon. They took away Linda. They hurt Thames. What more is there to take? What more do they want?
Princess Kokona's heart hurts with this uncertainty.
She never told Papa, but she meant one of the Pretty Cure. The same day Xoanon was destroyed. One of the Pretty Cure managed to find her room.
Of course, at the time, she didn't know what a Pretty Cure was. Looking back on it, the Pretty Cure wasn't what Princess Kokona had expected.
She was expecting a monster. A monster with long claws and big teeth. Something horrible and heartless.
Princess Kokona wasn't expecting the Pretty Cure would look like a girl just like her.
She looked like a princess too. Like she had just stepped out of a picture book just like Princess Kokona.
She wasn't a monster. She was Miss Imari Suzukawa the Pretty Cure from the magical and mysterious realm called Yūkibarano.
Princess Kokona remembers that Miss Imari Suzukawa the Pretty Cure was just as confused to see Princess Kokona, but she never attacked her or harmed her. She didn't have any claws or fangs.
Amd when Princess Kokona introduced herself, Kokona the Unbeloved Princess, the Pretty Cure spoke her mind. Free, but not cruelly.
"Why would you say that?"
"Because that is my title."
Even when Princess Kokona told her about her Papa, the Pretty Cure shook her head.
"You're a prison for crying out loud!"
She reached out a grabbed Princess Kokona's hand. She was surprised how soft and gentle it held her. Not cold and harsh like Linda or Papa.
"You should—oh!—you should come with me! My home. It's beautiful and everyone is super nice and kind!"
For a moment, Princess Kokona forgot everything and thought about what it would be like if she went with the Pretty Cure. Was it a lie? Could a place so nice and kind exist? The princess didn't know.
But, when Papa flashed into Princess Kokona's mind, she pulled her hand away. "I am sorry. But, I cannot go. If I were to leave, Papa would be sad. I do not want to make Papa sad."
Whenever the princess would try to protest against Linda, or Xoanon, or Papa, they would yell at her, push her around, throw her to the ground, or lock her back up in her room. Papa and her siblings didn't like being told no.
Princess Kokona winced as she waited for the yelling, the hurt, but it never came.
"I…I can understand that," replies the Pretty Cure. "I wouldn't want to do anything that would make my family sad either."
That's when the Pretty Cure had to leave.
"They might be in trouble! I have to same them!"
Before the Pretty Cure was nearly out of sight, she turned back around and smiles at the princess. "Oh! By the way—I don't think you're unbeloved. I don't know who your Papa is, but I'm sure he cares about you very much! And I care about you too, Kokona!"
That was the last time Princess Kokona had seen the Pretty Cure.
It was also the last time Princess Kokona saw Big Brother Xoanon.
Papa told his daughter that the Pretty Cure had destroyed Big Brother Xoanon, but he was avenged and Miss Imari Suzukawa was destroyed too.
The Pretty Cure are monsters that destroy. They destroyed Big Brother Xoanon.
Even still, Princess Kokona cried that night, not just for Big Brother Xoanon, but for Miss Imari Suzukawa. For her smile and kind words that reach Princess Kokona.
Even so, the princess's heart was troubled.
Kuroizado said all Pretty Cure do is destroy.
Then why did Miss Imari Suzukawa the Pretty Cure say she "saves" and "cares"?
Princess Kokona thought she would never see Miss Imari Suzukawa ever again. Yet, there she was, standing in the middle of her bedroom.
It all took Princess Kokona by surprise. She was crying softly to herself after Leah and Lola shoved her and locked her back up in her room. She was crying for Big Sis Linda. Princess Kokona knew she could never hold Leah or Lola close to her heart like Big Brother Xoanon, Big Sis Linda, or Little Brother Thames. Leah and Lola were nothing like them. Their smiles and cheery voices were fake.
As Princess Kokona cries into her pillow, a blinding light seeps through the material and makes her look up in confusion. A music box is sitting on the floor in the center of her room.
Cautiously, Princess Kokona crawls out of bed and tiptoes over to the music box. It was a beautiful, pale pink with gold lining and designed with rainbow-coloured jewels. It sat there unmoving without a sound.
Curiosity gets the better of the princess as she reaches out and lets the tips of her fingers dance across the shimmering filigree around the gems and gold. She feels her fingers touch the outline of a keyhole. As she does, a beam of magic streams out, causing Princess Kokona to stumble backwards, falling on her butt, and scooting away until she could feel her back hit her bedside.
With a small click, the strange music box opens and the cover bursts open.
Princess Kokona's eyes flood with a flurry of colours as red, blue, green, silver, and pink balls of light tumble out of the music box and collapse onto the floor. The light disappears as quickly as it appeared with a burst of pure-white sparkles. The princess blinks a couple of times to wrap her mind around what she is looking at. Five stuffed animals are slumped over on the cold ground. But, as she gets a closer look, she sees their chests slowly rising and falling. They weren't stuffed animals…
"They're alive!"Princess Kokona gasps.
But, all of their eyes were closed shut with a few of them letting out soft snores.
"Oh, they're asleep," realizes Princess Kokona.
Without thinking, the princess carefully picks up each of the small creatures and places them on her pillow. They seem to like the soft pillow over the cold-stone floor as they all nestle into it.
The princess couldn't help but crack a smile at the creatures' blissful slumber.
Then, the music box glows again as a beam of pink light gently shoots out the same as the last. But, this time, it wasn't one of those living stuffed animals. It was a girl.
A girl with short, butterscotch brown hair. A girl that looked like she had stepped out of a fairytale just like Princess Kokona.
The girl is Miss Imari Suzukawa the Pretty Cure of Yūkibarano.
"M-Miss Suzukawa?" stammers Princess Kokona in disbelief. The princess reaches out and gently gives her shoulder a shake. "Miss Suzukawa?"
Just like the stuffed animals, Imari is asleep.
Just then, the princess saw Imari's eyes flutter open.
"Oh my goodness," gasps Princess Kokona. "A-Are you alright?"
The princess grabs the Pretty Cure's hand. "Here—here, take my hand."
Imari does without a word and Princess Kokona brings her to her feet.
"Thank you very much," Imari murmurs, still in a daze. "Please, can you tell me—?"
Her eyes widen as she looks Princess Kokona in the eye for the first time since coming out of the weird box.
"K-Kokona?" she says in surprise.
All the princess could think of was to nod her head in response. "Y-You…you remember my name?"
Princess Kokona almost falls over as Imari ambushed her with a huge hug. "Of course I remember! Kokona~! Koko-na-na~! Ko-ko-na~!"
"Is my name that fun to say?" jokes Princess Kokona with a shaky laugh. She steps out of the hug and struggles to swallow her breath.
"It's so good to see you, Kokon—"
"M-Miss Suzukawa!" Princess Kokona with a raised voice that surprise Imari and even herself.
"Yes?" says Imari, tipping her head to the side.
Princess Kokona struggles to get the words out. "I-Is what Papa told me t-true? D-Did you destroy B-Big Brother Xoanon?" The words start spilling out. "Did y-you destroy Big S-Sis Linda?"
Imari is silent for a long moment. Princess Kokona could only stand there desperately as she lets herself catch her breath.
"Xoanon destroyed my PreHeartBook," Imari finally says. "When he did, the explosion of light magic purified him and he was destroyed. My PreHeartBook destroyed him, but I didn't destroy Xoanon with my own hands."
Imari looks Princess Kokona in the eye, unwavering. "Linda turned my friends into monsters and tried herself into one too to try and destroy me. I didn't destroy her, but I didn't want to see her turn herself into a monster. I tried to save her from destroying herself. That's the truth."
Imari reaches into her jacket pocket and pulls out of purple star gemstone that Princess Kokona recognizes as Linda's star marking. Imari takes Princess Kokona's hand and places the gem inside her palm and closes her hand shut. "This isn't mine to have. I think Linda would want you to have it."
Princess Kokona looks down at the star gem in her hand and fresh tears stream down her face. She grabs the star gem tightly to her chest. "Thank you, Miss Suzukawa. Thank you for returning Big Sis Linda to me."
Imari's eyes soften as she smiles tenderly at the crying princess.
"I'm sorry, Kokona."
Princess Kokona blinks up at her in surprise. "F-For what?"
"When we first met, I wanted to save you," says Imari. "And I still do. I want to take you away from here."
"Y-You can't!" wails Princess Kokona. "I-If you take me than Papa…Papa will be sad."
"That's why I'm not going to save just you," explains Imari. "I'm going to save you and your Papa…I'm going to save all of you from the darkness!"
"You are an ambitious Pretty Cure, aren't you~gozo?"
Imari and Princess Kokona spin around to see Bukku and the Four Guardians of Magic coming to, whipping the sleep dust out of their eyes, and flying up into the sky.
"That's Imari for ya~buku," grins Bukku as he jumps up into Imari's arms. "She doesn't do anything half-heartedly~buku."
"She carries the will of a true Pretty Cure~nene," muses Sen with a hidden smirk.
"And who might this young lady be~subu?" asks Tsubusu, twirling around Princess Kokona. "She's so pretty~subu! Look how pretty she is~subu! Looky, looky, looky~subu!
"We see her, Tsubusu," hums Orenda.
"Not as pretty as Cure Cherish, of course~subu!" Tsubusu clarifies. "Still, I can sense of love inside her heart~subu!" Tsubusu body turns to noodles as she's surrounded by bubbling flowers. "Ooooo~subu! I can feel the love of a loyal daughter~subu! It's making me tingling all over~subu!"
"Although, her magic is weak~rena," points out Orenda. "I suspect Dead End—or Kuroizado rather—is using her as a magic source~rena."
"Magic source?" echoes Imari.
Orenda nods her head. "Almost like a human battery~rena. How cruel~rena."
"What is your name, child~gozo?" asks Gazo.
Princess Kokona curtsies politely. "I am Kokona the Unbeloved Princess. It is nice to meet your acquaintance—"
"No flipping way~subu!" exclaims Tsubusu, nearly falling flat on her face.
The rest of the Guardians share her shock.
"You…you all know, Kokona?" asks Imari.
"In a manner of speaking~rena," says Orenda. "Kokona the Unbeloved Princess is a fairytale. More specifically, the very first fairytale we created together~rena."
"You…you created her fairytale~buku?"
"We created ever fairytale~nene," says Sen. "However…"
"Last time I checked, Kokona is a make-believe character~subu!" wails Tsubusu, looking Princess Kokona up and down with a giant magnifying glass. "How in the world is she living and breathing in front of us right now~subu!?"
"It's not impossible~rena," says Orenda. "If one had the magic knowhow~rena."
Princess Kokona nods her head. "Papa saved me. He got me out from my fairytale full of despair and saved me."
"Saved you~buku?" snorts Bukku. "By locking you in a dungeon~buku? Oh yeah, what a hero~buku."
Gazo narrows his eyes. "Who is your…Papa?"
Princess Kokona fidgets with her dress nervously, looking to Imari unsure. Imari offers her a smile. "It's okay, Kokona. You can trust them. They're here to help too."
Princess Kokona nods her head and bows before the Guardians. "I know my Papa as Kouzai Aisaki."
"Kuroizado," grumbles Bukku.
Imari takes a breath. "Gazo, can you confirm something for me?"
"King Gazo," corrects Gazo.
"You're not king anymore, bucko~nene," smirks Sen cheekily.
"Listen here, Sen! As long as a have a crown on my head, I am king~gozo! Which means you must respect m—"
Sen bops Gazo's crown off his head.
"WHY YOU~GOZO!" roars Gazo.
"Um…can you get mad at Sen later," says Imari with a crooked smile.
"Right~gozo. Of course~gozo," nods Gazo, changing from rage to calm in a flash. "Go ahead, child~gozo."
"Sen mentioned the name Ayumu when you guys were talking about Dead End earlier," says Imari. "Then, the illusion of Cure Fantasia from inside the Music Box mentioned Ayumu too."
"What else did she say~gozo?" asks Gazo, though Imari could tell he already suspected the answer.
"That…that Ayumu was her brother."
"Twin brother~gozo," nods Gazo. "And, yes, this is true~gozo."
The other Guardians look down at their feet or at the blank wall, a tenseness suddenly filling the room as they don't make eye contact with anyone.
Gazo sighs at this but carries on. "Cure Fantasia's name was Yumeha Aisaki and Dead End was once known as her younger twin brother, Ayumu Aisaki. Once upon a time, that is~gozo."
"Yumeha," murmurs Imari. "What happened?"
Gazo lets out a long breath as he anxiously rubs at his bald head. "Cure Fantasia—Yumeha and Ayumu were inseparable~gozo. Although total opposites~gozo. While Yumeha led with her heart, Ayumu lead with his head~gozo. Yumeha wore her heart on her sleeve, Ayumu kept to himself and hid his heart~gozo."
Sen nods his head in agreement. "They were siblings as well as the best of friends~nene."
"After we built Fanciful Kingdom together, things began to change~rena," says Orenda.
"Yumeha became the kingdom's beacon of hope~subu," chirps Tsubusu. "The leader of the Pretty Cure, beyond talented in light magic, and known for having the biggest and most beautiful heart you've ever seen~subu!"
"Ayumu felt like he was in Yumeha's shadow~gozo," says Gazo. "He became jealous of his twin sister~gozo. His jealousy began to fester into hatred~gozo. The darkness of hatred swallowed up his once kind heart~gozo."
"Ayumu created dark magic from his inner darkness and hatred towards Yumeha," says Sen. "The dark magic consumed him, destroying the boy we once knew as Ayumu Aisaki and the being you now know as Dead End took his place~nene. All he desired was to destroy everything his sister loved~nene."
"How could hatred for a sibling go that far," murmurs Imari. "I could never think of hurting my sister, Izumi-chan."
"I could~buku," murmurs Bukku.
Imari eyes widen at Bukku.
He shrugs at her. "Not now obviously~buku! But…I can't say I've never been jealous of Kuiru. And I'd be lying if I said a part of me didn't hate him for that~buku. Jeez, Imari, not every sibling-relationship is perfect like yours~buku!"
Imari looks down at the floor. "Sorry. I didn't mean it like that."
"I know~buku."
"So," murmurs Imari, looking to Gazo. "Yumeha…she had to imprison her own brother?"
"Yes~gozo," sighs Gazo with sadness in his eyes. The Guardians all share the same expression.
"We didn't want to do that to Ayumu," whimpers Tsubusu. "He was our friend too~subu! We use to play chess together~subu! Though, he always won~subu. But—but~subu! Dead End…I saw his eyes~subu. Ayumu was gone from his eyes~subu."
"Hang on a second," realizes Imari. "Kouzai…Kouzai is Yumeha and Ayumu's descendent. Kouzai freed his great-great-something uncle, right?"
"Talk about an awkward family reunion~buku," snorts Bukku.
"Poor Kuroizado," Tsubusu sniffles. "He has the light of Yumeha and the darkness of Ayumu fighting inside of his heart~subu."
"Papa," whispers Princess Kokona, clutching tightly to Linda's star gem.
"Now then~nene," says Sen, eyeing Imari. "What do you want to do, Cure Fable?"
Imari gives her heart and mind time to think over Sen's question.
Imari holds Bukku close to her chest as she grabs his paws in her hands. He looks up at his partner and smirks. The two of them reach out and grab hold of Princess Kokona's hands.
"We're going to save him," says Imari with determination burning in her pink-coloured eyes. "We're going to save your Papa. I promise, Kokona."
Princess Kokona's greyed violet eyes fill up with shimmering tears as she smiles at the two of them. "Okay."
"You heard the lady~nene," smirks Sen.
Gazo puffs out his chest proudly. "It's about time for the Four Guardians of Magic to make their grand return~gozo!"
"Being all sad and gloomy was getting old anyways~subu," winks Tsubusu.
"First things first, we have to get out of this room~rena," says Orenda. "Though I wouldn't recommend transforming, Cure Fable. Kuroizado could sense your magic~rena. The same goes for us as well~rena. Only use light magic if absolutely necessary~rena."
"Okey pokey~subu," grins Tsubusu.
The four faires easily fly past Imari and Princess Kokona and are small enough to squeeze through the gaps in the bars.
"These bars are made of dark magic~nene," notices Sen. "So it doesn't have a lock or key~nene."
Princess Kokona bobs her head. "Yes. The Dark Charm Knights always take down the spell to let me out and recast the same spell to put them up again."
"Don't worry, Kokona," smiles Imari as she wraps both hands around the dark magic bars. "Let's get out of here no matter what, okay?"
"Imari," murmurs Princess Kokona.
With her determined smile still on her face, Imari closes her eyes and presses her forehead up against the cold prison bars. "We need to get out of here," she whispers to the dark magic bars. "But, to do that, we need your help. Please, can you let your walls down? At least for a moment?"
At her request, the blackened bars illuminate a sparkling white. Everyone, including Imari, step back in shock as the bars fall away, dissolving into shimmering magic.
Imari takes this time to pick up the Music Box of the Past Cures. She offers the frightened princess a brave smile. "Let's go, Kokona."
"W-Wait!" gasps Princess Kokona as she hurries over to her bedside table and grabs her storybook, her fairytale, and clutches it to her chest beside her heart.
"O-Okay! I'm ready!"
Princess Kokona reaches out and takes Imari's hand. Even though the princess was a fairytale character, Imari was happy that Princess Kokona's hand was soft and warm like a real person.
Together, the two of them step out past where the bars once were and, as they do, the bars return like nothing ever happened.
The Four Guardian of Magic stare up at Imari in disbelief.
"H-How…how did you do that~gozo?" asks Gazo.
"I don't know," says Imari honestly. "I just spoke from the heart and the dark magic heard me."
"Is…is that even possible~buku?" wonders Bukku.
"You don't have a strong understand of magic, do you~rena," says Orenda.
"Of course not~buku! I can't even use magic~buku!" pouts Bukku.
"Magic isn't just a thing you can use~rena," says Orenda. "That's not to say it's alive~rena. But, simple, it possesses a sense of self~rena. Magic has a form of consciousness~rena."
"Which is why someone with ill intent or an impure heart can't use light magic for destruction or self-serving purposes~nene," explains Sen. "But dark magic…dark magic shouldn't—doesn't have the same sense~nene. Dark magic is selfish and does whatever it wants~nene."
Imari shrugs her shoulders. "Maybe you don't understand dark magic as well as you think you do."
Sen stiffens at these words, but Imari doesn't seem to notice as she turns around and bows her head to the dark magic bars. "Thank you very much for your help. We really appreciate it."
"Imari! You are bowing to a bunch of poles~buku!" scoffs Bukku. "Quit it, you weird idiot~buku! We gotta get going~buku!"
Tsubusu falters as she flies, rubbing at her head irritably. Bukku looks around and notices the rest of the Guardians are struggling to keep themselves in the air, rubbing at their heads. "Hey, are you guys okay~buku?"
Orenda nods her head. "Apologies~rena. The dark magic in this place is…overwhelming~rena."
"It's giving me a headache~subu," grumbles Tsubusu.
Bukku tips his head to the side. "Really~buku? I don't feel anything~buku. Is that because I was born without magic~buku?"
"It would appear so~rena," says Orenda.
"Right!" Imari grins, giving her partner a thumbs-up. "Let's find our way outta here and back to Tomoka, Nijiko, and Kuiru! Supreme smile power!"
With Princess Kokona by her side, the two of them race out of the prison and find themselves in a maze of dark corridors only lit by dark blue-and-purple dark magic candles held up by stone gargoyles with jewel eyes and the once and a while flash of dark magic lightning from outside in the stormy night sky that shines through the thin and long windows that stretch from the roof to the floor.
"Su-Supreme smile…power~subu?" echoes Tsubusu. "Whazzat~subu?"
"It's just Imari's stupid, nonsense catchphrase~buku," groans Bukku, rolling his eyes.
"It's not nonsense!" says Imari, putting her hands on her hips. "The power of a smile is stronger than anything! Even magic!"
"That's ridiculous~nene," grunts Sen. "There is nothing stronger than magic~nene."
Imari giggles. "Well, that's not true." The group round a corner and continues to walk down the same kind of hallway. "There are lots of things stronger than magic. Friendship…love…family…smiles…dreams. All those kinds of things."
"You can't fight and defeat the enemy with those~nene," argues Sen.
"Who says you have to?"
Sen opens his mouth to protest, but clumps it shut as the group makes it into another dark corridor.
"This isn't working~rena," says Orenda. "These corridors are like a labyrinth~rena. We're just getting ourselves lost~rena."
"Do you know where to go, Kokona?" asks Imari.
"S-Sort of," admits Princess Kokona. "I know where Papa and Big Sis Linda's studies are and the kitchen but…I…I don't think Desolate Castle has a front door or back door or…"
"That makes sense~rena," nods Orenda. "Kuroizado and the Dark Charm Knights could just use their dark magic and teleport wherever they want. They don't need a 'front' or 'back door'~rena."
"Then…how are we supposed to get out of here~subu?" asks Tsubusu.
Imari walks up to one of the walls of the hallway. She places her hand up against it, gliding her hand along the smooth yet cold wall. "What if…what if we just get rid of the whole thing?"
"Huh~buku?" says Bukku confusedly. "Get rid of what~buku?"
"Desolate Castle," says Imari, turning to the rest of the team. "What if we purify Desolate Castle all together?"
"Wh-What are you talking about~buku?!"
A grin spreads across Imari's face. "Yeah, I mean, think about it! Inside Desolate Castle, we feel trapped! Here, we're in Kouzai's domain. But, if we can purify Desolate Castle, we'll have the advantage! Kouzai becomes the one who's trapped!"
"Are you kidding me~nene?" scoffs Sen, crossing his paws. "Do you have any idea how much light magic it would take to purifies this whole castle~nene?!"
"We won't know unless we try!" smiles Imari. "I think we can do it—no—I know we can do it!"
"And what if we can't~nene?" snaps Sen. "Then we'll just be sitting ducks~nene."
"But, if we continue wandering around lost like this, Kuroizado or one of his Dark Charm Knights will find us for sure~subu," points out Tsubusu, anxiously playing with her ears.
"Since when are you two the voice of reason~rena?" muses Orenda.
"Imari," says Bukku, looking his partner in the eye. "Do you really think you can purify Desolate Castle~buku?"
Imari's eyes sparkle with determination. "I do."
Bukku smiles. "Then I'm going to believe in my partner~buku! Let's transform, Imari!"
"Are you two crazy~gozo?!" exclaims Gazo, flailing his arms like mad.
Orenda cracks a smile. "She's stubborn~rena. Just like Yumeha. Wouldn't you all agree~rena?"
The Guardians exchange a worried look.
Sen sighs. "Sounds like there's no talking them out of it~nene."
"No matter what, I always believed in Cure Cherish," says Tsubusu. "So, I'm going to believe in Bukku for believing in his partner~subu!" Tsubusu showers herself in hearts. "The love between a fairy and their Cure is unmatched~subu! The love Bukku and Imari share is so delicious it's making my mouth water~subu!"
"Thanks…I think~buku," says Bukku hesitantly.
"Let's go, Bukku!" beams Imari.
"You don't need to tell me twice~buku!"
"Dreaming Heart Key Transform~buku!"
The world around them turns into pink sparkles as Bukku jumps into the air, as he does, in a puff, he transforms into the golden key with Bukku resting in the heart of the key. Imari reaches out and grabs the Dreaming Heart Key. Imari kisses the key before tossing it in the air. It spins and Imari catches it as she faces the Music Box of the Past Cures. With sparkling eyes and an unwavering smile, Imari trusts the key into the keyhole.
"Pretty Cure, Happy Ending Melody!"
Imari turns the key and the Music Box clicks open. Its magic shines out like a rainbow of pink, cyan, yellow, and white. The colours of the Past Cures. The glimmering lights dance around Imari. She reaches out and touches the white-coloured stream of light. The light turns into a silhouette of a girl. The light of Cure Cherish. She envelopes Imari in a hug before disappearing in a flash of pure white light. When she does, she transforms Imari's short brown turns blonde and grows out into long pigtails and her dark reddish-pink eyes to bright pink.
Imari is then greeted by the yellow light taking the form of a girl and they both share a double high-five. At they do, pops of magic give Imari her pink-and-yellow handless arm gloves. The two pose very each other before Cure Mystic waves goodbye before jetting up into the sky and disappearing.
Imari suddenly finds herself going in the opposite direction. Falling. But, she not afraid because the cyan light turns into the form of a girl underneath her, holding her arms out to catch her. Imari reaches her arms out to and the two collide with Cure Sage creating Imari's outfit her pink puffed-sleeves, miniskirt, and boots with the white knee-length leggings.
Finally, Imari finds her footing in front of a girl made of pink-coloured light. Cure Fantasia wait patiently for her. Imari races straight at her. She runs straight through her predecessor and Cure Fantasia vanishes in a burst of pale pink sparkles. When she does, the golden details on her boots, sleeves, and skirt appear as well as the yellow stars on her leggings, her star earrings, and the bells in her pigtails with the pink bows and pair of wings.
To complete the transformation, the Dreaming Heart Key finds its place in the center of Cure Fable's pink bow on her chest and she strikes her pose.
"Story of Dreams…Cure Fable!"
"It's still weird to get used to~buku," laughs Bukku, popping his head out from the key.
"You okay, Bukku?" Cure Fable asks.
"You bet~buku! 'Cause now I can fight beside all of you~buku!"
"I feel the same way, Bukku."
As the two teammates sure a smile, the Guardians can only look on and watch.
"So, this is Cure Fable," Gazo grins, puffing his chest out proudly. "The new Pretty Cure of Dreams~gozo. Not too shabby~gozo."
"She doesn't look anything like Cure Fantasia," notes Tsubusu.
"She's nothing like Cure Fantasia," agrees Sen bitterly. "Or Cure Sage, or Cure Mystic, or Cure Cherish!"
"She doesn't have to be~rena," says Orenda, revealing a small smile.
"What's that smile~subu?" demands Tsubusu.
"It's just funny~rena," grins Orenda. "But, I can't but see our partners' will all within Imari Suzukawa."
"What are you taking about~nene?" asks Sen defensively.
"I know actually what you mean, Orenda," smiles Gazo, putting his paws on his hips. "I can see Yumeha Aisaki's hopeful heart within Imari Suzukawa! It's undeniable~gozo! Putting the worries of others before her own~gozo. That is a quality I thought I'd only see in Yumeha."
"The way she smiles," says Orenda. "Her energetic spirit, wearing her heart on her sleeve, not letting others deter her~rena. She reminds me so much of Naruki Tokumaru."
"I…I guess I can see that~subu," mumbles Tsubusu, pushing her paws together with a pout. "From the moment I met her, Imari Suzukawa has always been so nice to me~subu. She's so forward with her kindness like Karina Utamine."
"And her standing up to you, Sen," hums Orenda with a smirk. "Reminds me of a certain someone who was very headstrong with her decisions and what she believed to be right~rena. Sounds like your partner, Satomi Maizono, to me, Sen."
"What's your point, Orenda?" grunts Sen.
"You mean you don't see it~rena?" says Orenda. "Cure Fable possesses the will of all of our partners inside her heart~rena. Perhaps Cure Fable will be able to succeed where we failed~rena."
"Maybe she's actually what we need~subu," realizes Tsubusu.
"I sure hope so~gozo," Gazo sighs.
"That's all we can do~rena. Hope~rena."
Beside them, Princess Kokona looks on in wonder at Imari transforming into Cure Fable before her very eyes. "This…this is a Pretty Cure?"
She doesn't look like a monster. No fangs…no claws…
Did…did Papa…lie?
"I'm sorry, Kokona."
Princess Kokona snaps out of her thoughts as Cure Fable turns to her and gives her a sad smile.
"I know this is your home," says Cure Fable. "But, hopefully, I can save your home. Do you trust me, Kokona?"
"I…I do," nods Princess Kokona.
Cure Fable smiles warmly. "Now I'm definitely feeling supreme smile power!"
The Pink Cure doesn't waste much time as she heads towards the nearest window and places her hand against it. In a soft glow, the glass disappears and reaches her hand out for Princess Kokona to take. She grabs it and steps through the open window and lands on the dying garden below. Her bare feet crunch under the dead grass and dried up flower petals.
The rest of the fairies fly out with her along with Cure Fable.
The Guardians look around at what was once their home.
"Dead End…Kuroizado…they…they destroyed everything~nene," whispers Sen as if he didn't believe it until he saw it with his own eyes.
"Ayumu hated Fanciful Kingdom more than anything in this world~rena," says Orenda, looking around at their ruined castle. "He wanted to destroy the thing his sister loved more than anything~rena."
"It's going to be okay," Cure Fable reassures them. "I'll bring Fanciful Kingdom back. No matter what."
"Ooooo~. Did you hear that? Little Miss Pink is gonna save eeeveryone~. Tee-hee. Ooooh~. Little Lady in Pink is gonna faaaail~. It's written in the stars~!"
Cure Fable's heart drops as she hears a voice she's never heard before. She spins around and that's when she sees the girl dressed in orange-and-black. She looked like a little child with the same markings the other Dark Charm Knights had.
"You're Cure Smiley, y'know," the girl grins as she uses her fingers to stretch her mouth into a wide smile. "You can call me Leah. See, see. I love to smile too~! Looky, looky~. Look at my smile. It's just like yours, Cure Smiley~."
Cure Fable sees the smile plastered on her faces. It was cheerful, but her cheerful smile didn't hold goodness in it. She can see only ill will in her grin. That she gets a thrill from watching those around them squirm and suffer.
Cure Fable doesn't smile back at her. She holds a frown on her face and glare at them.
"Ooooo, what's with that face?" asks Leah with a pout. "I thought Pretty Cure were supposed to be hospitable. Such a shame, such as shame. Ooooh, I don't like that face." She balls her hand into a fist. "Here, let me help turn that frown upside-down. I'm gonna paint a beautiful smile across Cure Smiley's face in my darkness."
Like a bolt of lightning, Leah attacks Cure Fable, one going for a punch in the head, but she was able to put up her forearm and blocks her. She tries again and the other goes for a kick on the opposite side of Cure Fable's thigh. The pink warrior manages to grab Leah by the foot and stop her.
"You're not half bad, Cure Smiley," snickers Leah. "But not good enough."
With her one free hand, Leah unleashes a blast of dark magic.
"Kyah!" screams Cure Fable as she knocked through the air and smashes against Desolate Castle wall.
"Tee-hee~! Look how far she flew," giggles Leah.
Leah looks down at her foot. "Huh? I have something on my foot."
A light pink ball with a flashing red heart in the middle.
Leah looks down at her hand that Cure Fable had touched. "Wait a minute, Lola. There's something on my hand too. What is this flashing? I don't know."
"Goodnight Bomb!" cries out Cure Fable as she staggers to her feet.
At her word, the bombs explode on Leah, showering her in a shimmer of light magic.
"What a tricky little pink girl," hisses Leah, rage burning in her eyes as she reveals sharp fangs and claws. "I wanna mess her up. Yes. Then, let's mess her up real good."
Leah charges at the Pink Cure. She kicks Cure Fable in the side of her face as she falls down to her knees. As she does, Leah is waiting for her with an uppercut to her stomach.
Leah lifts her foot to stomp on the pink warriors' face.
"Teleport Flash!"
Leah's foot hits the bare ground as Cure Fable manages to teleport away and ends up on the roof of the castle just above the new darkling.
As Cure Fable tries to get back on her feet, she feels a sharp pain surge through her spine as someone behind her throws her off the roof and plummets into a patch of wilted flowers, landing hard on her side.
"Cure Fable!" the Guardians cry out as they race over to help the fallen warrior.
In the dead flowerbed, Cure Fable can only manage to lift her head as another Dark Charm Knight that mirrored Leah's appearance but all in green leaps off the castle roof and lands in-between the sisters.
"Oh~! It's our favourite twin sister, Lola, coming to help me!" beams Leah.
"I'm your only twinsister, Leah," points out Lola.
"Twin…sister?" murmurs Cure Fable as she gazes up at the two of them.
Lola steps on Cure Fable's hand.
"Kyah!" cries Cure Fable as she digs her foot in.
She tries to get up but gets pinned down by Leah who presses her knee into Cure Fable's back, winding her with the force.
Lola's eyes are empty, but her smile is full of delight as she lifts her foot and stomps down on her hand again harder than before. Then again and again and again. All Cure Fable can do it cry out in pain with each strike.
"Stop~buku!" roars Bukku from his key. "Stop it~buku! Leave Cure Fable alone you monsters~buku!"
"Oh, you're so mean, calling us monsters," Leah frowns.
"You guys are the monsters, trying to destroy Mr. Master's dreams," says Lola as she takes her claws and scratches Cure Fable slowly across the cheek. "The Dream Destroyer, that's who you are, Cure Smiley."
"No," whispers Cure Fable.
"Huh?" taunts Leah, cupping her ear to the beaten warrior. "What was that Dream Destroyer? We didn't catch that."
"You're wrong, you freaky twins!"
A burst of bright green and blue magic shine in Cure Fable's eyes as she feels the weight on her back is lifted and two pairs of arms wrap themselves around the Pink Cure's shoulder and guild her to her feet.
Cure Enchant and Cure Mythical's brave smiles look down at their teammate.
"You okay, Fable?" asks Cure Mythical, her body trembling with worry.
"Jeez, next time you get sucked up into a magical music box and get teleported away to Desolate Castle…warn us, would ya?" smirks Cure Enchant, playfully punching the Pink Cure in the shoulder.
"Duly noted," chuckles Cure Fable.
"We got here are fast as we could~kuru," says Kuiru, looking on at the Dark Charm Knights. "And it looks like we got here just in the nick of time~kuru."
"Boo!" hollers Leah. "This freaking stinks! And here we were having a fun one-on-one pummel party with Cure Smiley, our new best friend."
"She's our only best friend," points out Lola.
"Argh," says Cure Enchant in disgust at the two sisters. "Who the heck are these topsy-turvy twins? I prefer Xoanon or even Linda then these brats."
"Ooooh, you're so mean," pouts Leah, pushing her pointer fingers together. Then a wicked smile spreads across her face. "Guess we'll have to destroy ya then~."
"Enchant, Mythical," says Cure Fable, turning to her friends. "I need time. I'm going to purify Desolate Castle."
"You're gonna what?!" exclaims Cure Enchant and Cure Fable walks past her to face the dark magic castle. "Are you crazy?"
"The amount of light magic required to do that is immense~kuru!" protests Kuiru. "Not even the Four Guardians of Magic themselves can't~kuru! And they're freaking awesome in every way, shape, or form~kuru!"
"Always nice to meet a fanboy~subu," giggles Tsubusu.
That earns her a snack on the back of the head by Orenda.
"It's impossible~kuru!" argues Kuiru.
"I don't care if it's impossible!" says Cure Fable. "I know I can do it!" She places her hand to her heart. "If I do this, then I can protect everyone! I will protect everyone's hopes…dreams…futures…everything!"
"So arrogant," snorts Leah.
"So pigheaded," agrees Lola.
"Yo," hollers Cure Enchant. "Do me a favour and shut up!"
The Blue Cure gently places a hand the Pink Cure's on the shoulder. "If you're sure about this, we will try and bide you some time."
The Green Cure gives her a thumbs-up. "You go. We got this!"
"Thank you," smiles Cure Fable.
"Now, get going, Fable," grins Cure Enchant as she turns around to face the sisters, crackling her knuckles. "I've wanted to punch these two in the face the moment they opened their stupid mouths."
"We could say the same thing about you," the sisters say in perfect sync.
Before either Cure Fable or Cure Mythical can say another word, Cure Enchant clashes with Leah. She claws at her, but she ducks her head and strikes them with a powerful roundhouse kick. She gets thrown and Cure Enchant charges after them.
Cure Mythical turns to her friend. "Go, Fable—kya!"
The blue warrior gets ambushed by Lola who bolts straight up to her and punches her in the face. "Kyah!"
"Mythical!" cries Cure Fable.
"It's okay, Fable," Cure Mythical reassures her as she quickly gets back on her feet. "I can handle him. Get going!"
Cure Mythical activates her Blue Slash attack and goes after Lola with her sword of light.
"I…I'm coming too!" gasps Princess Kokona as she joins the Pink Cure.
"Are you sure?" asks Cure Fable.
The princess nods her head.
"Okay."
Cure Fable offers Princess Kokona her hand and she takes it. With the pink warrior's help, they two of them jet up from the ground, rocketing up in the air, and easily able to reach the top of Desolate Castle and landed gently at the highest point.
"So, um, I don't really know what I'm doing," admits Cure Fable, gingerly scratching the back of her head with a laugh. "I kinda say stuff without really thinking ahead. Ha-ha."
"I have noticed," giggles Princess Kokona.
"I don't really know if I can save your home, Kokona," says Cure Fable. "But, I'm going to try my hardest to save it!"
"I know," smiles Princess Kokona softly. "You promised after all."
"That's right!" beams Cure Fable with her widest smile. "Welp—let's give this a try!"
"I believe in you—kyah!"
The hope in Cure Fable's shattered as Princess Kokona cried out in pain. The princess's eyes go wide and pale before she slumps forwards and falls, almost falling off the roof if Cure Fable hadn't lunged for her and pull her into a hug.
"Kokona! Kokona!" cries Cure Fable. "What's wrong?"
Suddenly, Cure Fable feels something wet and sticky on Princess Kokona's back she had her arm around. Cure Fable pulls back and looks down at her hand. It was dripping in dark magic.
Cure Fable swallows down a scream as she sees a huge gash on Princess Kokona's back with light magic bleeding out and only the roof of the castle, the pale colour getting swirled up in the deep purple dark magic and getting being eaten away by the dark magic.
Standing across from them on the roof is Thames with his hand out glowing with dark magic.
"Th-Th…Thames," says Cure Fable breathlessly. "Wh-What? What did you do?"
He puts his hand down and looks on blankly at her.
"Thames!" snaps Cure Fable, no longer able to hide her anger.
"Why?" curses Thames under his breath. "Why couldn't you just leave us alone!? If you had just minded your own business…you wouldn't have made me do this! The more you try to get in Master's way, the more you will suffer! The more his hatred grows of you until he destroys everything you love! Just leave us alone!"
"Wh-What?" stammers Cure Fable. "What do you mean?"
The once cocky and playful darkling was gone, in his place with a broken, stone-faced boy wrapped in bandages and a dark magenta scar across the right side of his face that blackened and destroyed his eye.
"Your…your face," whimpers Cure Fable as she struggles to stand back up as she reaches her hand out to him. "What…what happened to your face?"
"C-Cure…Cure Fable…"
Cure Fable looks down at Princess Kokona in dismay as the princess struggles to lift up her fragile head. All the colour was draining away from her, her face, her hair, and her clothing turning gray.
"Kokona!" cries Cure Fable as she feels her eyes welling up with tears. "It-It's okay, Kokona. You're okay! I'm here. I'm right here!"
Princess Kokona's eyes flutter open. The beautiful violet colour in her eyes was gone. Now, her eyes are a dull grey.
"I…I feel…numb," murmurs Princess Kokona, her voice just barely louder than a whisper. "I…I can't feel…anything."
Her light magic continues to seep out of her body. Cure Fable looks down and sees that the tips of her fingers, toes, and hair were turning to pure-white sparkles and fading away from her body and the shimmering light magic begins to reach up to her arms and legs.
Princess Kokona looks up at the sky and reflects the storm clouds.
"Cure Fable!" calls Gazo.
She looks up and sees the Four Guardians of Magic flying towards her and her fallen friend.
"What happened~subu?" asks Tsubusu desperately. "Is…is she okay~subu? Oh, please tell me she's okay~subu!"
Both Sen and Orenda fly over and examine the wound of Princess Kokona's back.
Sen shakes his head. "She's losing all her magic~nene."
"C-Can't we heal her~subu?" wails Tsubusu.
"The wound is made from dark magic~rena," says Orenda. "They're nothing we can do~rena."
"No," murmurs Tsubusu as tears flood from her eyes. Her eyes fill up with anger and she stares down Thames. "How—how could you do such a horrible thing~subu? Tell me~subu! Tell me right now~subu!"
Thames doesn't say a word.
"Don't bother~buku," snorts Bukku, popping his head out from his key. "He's just following his master's stupid orders~buku!"
"Ha-ha-ha!" laughs Leah & Lola together. "Sister Princess is dying~! Suits her right. She was always so blah~. Ha-ha-ha~!"
"Hey, I thought I told you to shut up!" snaps Cure Enchant with her Enchanted Blade in hand.
"Why do you care?" mocks Leah. "You don't even know Princess Kokona."
"She's important to Fable. So she's important to us too!" argues Cure Mythical.
"Cure…Cure Fable," murmurs Princess Kokona as she struggles to reach out a hand to the Pink Cure.
"I'm here, Kokona!" gasps Cure Fable. "I'm right here!"
The pink warrior tries to grab the princess's hand, but it goes right through as Princess Kokona's hand fades away. As it did, a tink sounded off from the roof as Linda's star gem fell out of the princess's hand and hits the roof.
"Don't give up, Kokona," begs Cure Fable through her tears as she picks up Linda's star gem and presses it to the princess's chest. "Everyone's here for you, Kokona!"
"E-Every…one?" whispers Princess Kokona.
"Yes, th-that's right," smiles Cure Fable with trembling lips. "I'm here. So is Enchant, Mythical, Bukku, Kuiru, the Guardians, and Linda!" She holds out Linda's star gem for Princess Kokona to see. "We're all here for you, Kokona!"
"Big Sis Linda," mumbles Princess Kokona she reaches her last hand out to the purple gem. Her fingers go straight through it and her eyes become heavy. "And Big Brother Xoanon…Little Brother Thames…my…my family."
The last of Princess Kokona's colour was completely drained from her body as she looks up at the Pretty Cure of Dreams. "Cure…Fable?"
"Kokona," she whimpers.
"Don't…don't be mad at Little Brother Thames," mumbles Princess Kokona as she feels herself losing the last of her magic. "He…he just wants Papa to be happy. If…if me being gone will make Papa happy…then…then I'm okay with that…"
Princess Kokona blinks, then blinks again, but nearly can't open them again. "Is…is Papa here?"
All Cure Fable could do is shake her head as she chokes on her tears.
"Oh," murmurs Princess Kokona sadly. "Too bad…I…I wanted to tell Papa…that I love him…I…I love Big Brother Xoanon…Big Sis Linda…Little Brother Thames…" she smiles sadly. "I…I love the family…the family he gave me…"
"You can tell him that yourself!" cries Cure Fable, holding Princess Kokona close to her. "You're…you're going to be okay! Do you hear me, Kokona!?"
"Please, Papa…please smile," sighs Princess in her soft voice as she closes her eyes for the last time.
With one last smile, Princess Kokona disappears in the final soft glimmer of her magic fading away.
The only thing that remained with her storybook, the fairytale she came out of Kokona the Unbeloved Princess. Flipped open to the last page of her storybook where 'and they all lived happily ever after' is crossed out.
Desperately, Cure Fable reaches for the storybook. Tucked in the spine is a pen and she quickly takes it out and starts writing.
"Cure Fable? What are you doing~buku?" wonders Bukku.
"I don't know!" exclaims Cure Fable. "Okay! I don't know! But, I have to do something!"
Cure Fable sees the original ending to Princess Kokona's fairytale was crossed out and rewrite and read the words:
A Wizard that was betrayed by his kingdom saved Kokona, using the last of his light magic, to bring her out of her fairytale and becomes her father. A father that would never abandon her and would always love her.
Without thinking, Cure Fable scribbles it all out and rewrites the fairytale.
^ ** ^^ Wizard ^ **==^ betrayed by his kingdom **==++ Kokona, ^^**==^*^ magic, +=+*^*^=+ fairytale and becomes ^**^*= father. A father +=+** would ^*=+ abandon her and ^*+=*^==++*^.
Kokona finds a friend who promises to save her and the Wizard and joins her new friends and stare by their side to save their world and her Papa. This isn't the end of Kokona. This is only the beginning.
As Cure Fable finishes writing the last word, the storybook in her hands glow lavender purple and the pages flash bright white.
Everyone can only look on in wonder as Linda's star gem responds to the storybook and begins to float up from the ground.
Everyone looks on in wonder as Linda's star gem emits a bright violet light from the inside before being completely consumed by pale purple light. The pages of the storybook flutter out and begin to dance in the sky like rose petals around Linda's jewel it takes the form of a girl.
Cure Fable knew exactly who it was. "Ko…Kokona?"
But, Princess Kokona has changed.
Her hair turns light pink and flows down all the way to her thighs and embellished with a pair of white wings drooped on either side of her head. Her forehead is adorned with an orchid-coloured opal with a golden jewelled band along with her golden star earrings.
Her simple dress transforms into an orchid-coloured top with puffed sleeves and a silver collar and a deep purple bow on her chest with a matching purple miniskirt detailed with silver. She gains silver handless gloves and dark purple thigh-length high heels.
Princess Kokona reaches out and grabs her storybook that has been transformed into a lavender-coloured PreHeartBook. Her heels click down on the castle foot as her colourless eyes fill with the colour violet and take hold of her new destiny.
