Pushing the door as far open as she could, walking through she was blinded by a strong light as she shielded her eyes she heard a faint crying moving her hands she was now in her cabin Nikki slumped down on her rack as she cried into one of Kate's shirts her hand gripped around a photo frame moving towards her she looked down at the photo as her heart broke there was Kate and Nikki smiling happily at the camera as Nikki stood behind her wrapping her in a tight embrace placing a hand on Nikki's she jumped back in surprise as her hand didn't connect with her skin
"Kate…" ET interrupted her
"ET, what's going on?" she asked sadly
"This is a possible future Kate…"
"A future without me, I don't… I don't understand"
"Cancer is an unusual thing Kate" he shrugged as they continued to watch Nikki
"Cancer?" she replied nervously
"Kate… Why did you have to leave" Nikki mumbled through the tears
"Nikki I'm right here!" she yelled feeling herself be pulled back as she was now standing in Mike's living room.
"Where are we now?" she said turning to ET who pointed to the couch she spotting Mike's fragile form sitting on the couch with a small blonde haired child who couldn't be more than 3 laying across his lap
"Tell me another story Daddy?" the little girl whispered as she held a photo of Kate with a baby moving it towards Mike's face
"She… Your Mother was the bravest woman I ever knew Elly…" he said between the tears as he grabbed the photo from his little girl's hands
"And when she… Before she passed was she brave?" she asked softly
"Oh yes, more brave then you and I combined my little Elly Bear" he smiled brushing his hand through the little girl's hair
"Do I look like her?" she replied shifting her head so a pair of green eyes met blue
"More then you know" he answered before looking towards Kate
"Daddy, who was my Mother?"
"Kate…" he replied as her heart broke
"She doesn't even know me?" she asked between the tears
"You were around for her first month…" ET replied turning to face her
"ET… This cancer…"
"I can't tell you Kate, I'm just here to show you a possible future if you continue to be stubborn" he answered as she smiled slightly
"Stubborn, sure" she grinned
"It's not your time yet Kate, but…"
"It will be soon…" she sighed as he nodded she felt a presence on her shoulder.
"Kate?" she heard her name again
"Kate, are you awake?" his voice said again as her eyes opened slowly
"Mike?" she whispered reaching a hand out to make sure he was real
"Are you okay?" he asked looking down at her
"I…"
"You've been out for a while, the movie just finished" he replied as she shifted her head to look around her living room the darkness outside seeping in the only light coming from the TV movie credits, she'd been home for a few hours and already she hadn't lasted long after staying a week in hospital all she wanted was to cuddle with Mike until their leave was up which would be in less than a week.
"I fell asleep?" she questioned sadly as he began brushing his hand through her hair
"Well after you took your antibiotics you kind of just went out to it, you started yelling something about still being here and someone named Elly" he shrugged
"Elly…" she whispered with a slight smile
"You sure you're okay?" he asked concerned as she shifted to sit up moving across his lap her knee's resting on either side him
"I… It felt so real, like I was a ghost…" she muttered as he wrapped his arms around her waist
"What?"
"It doesn't matter…" she smiled softly at him
"Kate…" he said moving a free hand brushing a piece of hair behind her ear
"Can we go to bed?" she asked hopeful
"Sure, you go ahead I'll be up shortly" he playfully hit the side of her hip as she shifted off his lap
"Mike…" she answered as he moved to stand in front of her
"Yep?"
"Have you ever thought about kids?" she asked
"Well… Ah where's this coming from?" he replied confused
"Just a dream I had…" she shrugged moving forward placing a kiss against his lips before making her way towards the stairs
"About us having kids?" he answered as she stopped at the bottom step
"Something like that" she shrugged before making her way upstairs.
Kate spent most of the night tossing and turning after the dream she had part of her too scared to close her eyes in case she got another glimpse at a possible future.
"How'd you sleep?" Mike asked just after 8 as he made his way in with 2 mugs of coffee
"I didn't…" she shrugged as he placed the mugs down on the bedside table he sat on the end of the bed
"Kate…"
"I'm fine" she answered quickly moving out of the bed as she felt a hand pull her back wrapping his arms around her back as she stood in front of him
"Talk to me" he said hopeful as she wrapped her arms around his neck
"It's just…"
"Is this about the whole kids thing?" he asked softly
"I had a dream, I wasn't around Nikki was crying in her cabin clutching one of my shirts and you were at home with a little girl who looked exactly like me, she was asking questions about me I didn't even get to see my daughter grow up" she sighed tearing up
"Kate it was a dream that's not going to happen"
"Really? You don't know that, what if it was a glimpse into my future what if…" he silenced her with a soft kiss
"It was just a dream" he replied again resting his forehead against hers
"Yeah…" she sighed softly
"Why don't you go get a shower and I'll cook us some breakfast" he smiled moving his head back she nodded slightly before moving to place a passionate kiss against his lips
"I love you…" she whispered against them
"I love you too Kate" he kissed her one last time before she moved back towards the bathroom.
20 minutes later Kate and Mike were sitting at the kitchen table as she pushed the eggs around on her plate
"You need to eat something…" he sighed watching her
"I'm not really hungry" she shrugged
"Kate…" he began saying as his mobile starting vibrating
"You should get that" she answered moving out of her chair as he grabbed her arm and pulled her into his lap nestling his head into the crook of her neck
"It can wait…" he sighed
"And what if it's NAVCOM"
"Then they'll call back" he said as he began to place soft kisses against her neck she ran her hand through his hair
"Mike…" she mumbled through a moan
he moved up towards her lips turning her head they met in a passionate kiss running her free hand along his cheek he smiled against her lips as he began running his hand along her thigh moving closer under the hem of her dress she moved her hand down his cheek as she fiddled with the button on his shirt their lips parted for air shifting out of the chair Kate wrapped her legs around his waist as his hands were cupped under her buttocks he maneuvered them towards the couch.
Laying her down he hovered above her as their lips met in another kiss his phone started ringing again
"Mike…" she mumbled he began running down her neck and along her chest with soft kisses
"Mmm" he groaned as he slid the straps down her dress he nested his head between her breasts
"Phone" she just managed to say through the moaned as he began caressing her breasts
"Leave it" he grinned against her skin and he pulled her dress down further
"We can't…"
"Yes we can" he laughed as he moved back up towards her lips she could feel his arousal against her leg through his boxers
"5 minutes" she moaned as he shifted her underwear slightly he entered as she lifted her leg around his waist
"Mmm, 10" he moaned as he met her lips in a passionate kiss he began moving in slow movements
"15" she grinned against his lips as she tried to hold back the moans the house phone started ringing before the machine clicked over
'It's Maxine White here Kate; just calling to let you know Hammersley has been crash sailed with a notice for sea in 3 hours and we need you on board I've tried to get a hold of the CO but he doesn't appear to be answering his phone, if you could call me back that'd be greatly appreciated' echoed through the house as Mike groaned against Kate's neck in annoyance
"Looks like our 5 minutes are up" he sighed moving his head to look at her darkened desire filled eyes
"Yeah…" she smiled apologetically
"You are so making this up to me when we get back" he grinned placing a final kiss against her lips as he moved back she dropped her leg he fixed his member back into his boxers
"You started it, so you should be the one to make it up" she smiled as she moved to lean against her elbows blowing the lose hair out of her face
"I better head home… Give Max a call" he sighed sadly
"I'll see you on-board Sir" she grinned moving her legs around the couch as she fixed her dress up
"I guess so" he groaned slightly as his arousal brushed against his boxers Kate laughed softly as he escaped upstairs to get dressed.
"X what are you doing here?" Nikki asked as Kate crossed the gangway 2 hours later
"What do you mean we've been crash sailed" she shrugged fixing her bag on her shoulder
"Well I know that but I thought you had one week of rest left"
"I did; Maxine gave me permission to come back as long as I do…"
"Light duties!" Nikki grinned
"Exactly" Kate laughed slightly.
"Sir any idea where we're sailing too?" Nikki asked as she spotted Mike walking along the docks Kate moved back slightly as he approached them
"Uh I'll brief the crew when we set sail" he nodded stopping in front of them as Kate began to turn red thinking over there encounter hours earlier
"Sure, we're set to sail in 30 minutes" Nikki answered
"Great, can I have a moment alone with the X?" he asked hopeful as Nikki looked between the two of them
"Sure, give me your bag X and I'll take it to our cabin" Nikki held out her hand
"Thanks Nik" Kate smiled as she moved her bag off her shoulder passing it to her friend.
"This morning was so unfair" he whispered as they moved to the side of the ship
"You should have answered the phone before it got too far" she grinned as she rested her hands along the railing
"Too far… It took me half an hour to get the bloody thing down again" he smirked as he moved to stand next to her his shoulder brushing against hers
"Really?" she laughed slightly nudging his arm
"How am I supposed to last a week without being able to touch you like this morning" he sighed moving his hand along the railing as he placed it on hers
"We're on the boat…" she whispered as his hand curled around hers
"I don't care" he replied as she turned her head to face him her eyes were met with a loving blue pair
"Mike…" she began saying as she watched his eyes look around before his head moved forward and placed a reassuring kiss against her lips as he moved back he brushed his cheek against hers
"I love you" he whispered stopping next to her ear as his cheek rested against hers he felt a soft hand against his chest
"I love you too" she smiled placing a kiss on his cheek before she moved back and entered through the side hatch leaving him alone on the docks calming his raging hormones.
