Summary: Kagura returns to Edo after three long years to reunite with her old friends. Causing chaos in the process, she starts to cling to a certain mop head much more than usual.
I wasn't a huge fan into Ginkagu until recently when I read some of the few really well written fan fictions others have made with this ship. It made me want to take a crack at it (I definitely wasn't bored in quarantine, nope not at all) .so here we are, This is my first fanfic btw go easy on me.
One other thing, this is a timeline where Umibouzu didn't arrive in earth and let kagura stay in the Yorozuya. You remember that arc? Yeah it didn't happen in this story.

"The hell? this place didn't change at all"
Kagura finally takes her first steps outside the giant O-Edo central terminal after sitting inside of that giant spacecraft for god knows how many hours. Dropping her luggage with THUD to catch her breath. Removing her signature purple umbrella from her luggage she used it to combat the earth's grueling sun.
She's much taller, grown a slightly bigger bust and just looks more feminine then the last time she was here. She's wearing the same red dress and two ornaments in her hair hoping her old friends would recognize her after three years.
While Kagura's appearance changed a bit, she's still the same naive, violent heroine she's always been. Picking up her gargantuan backpack, she starts walking to her old home using her memory to guide her way.
Heh, I wonder if they'll freak out. I bet they miss me, who wouldn't? Papi said I should've contacted them first but how the hell would I even be able to do that across space? Yep, this is idea is much better.
can't wait to see the looks on their face once they see I'm back. If those bastards replaced me already I'll kill em.
Walking through the Kabuki district, She can feel her excitement growing with each step. It's been so long but it's like no time has passed at all. Being overwhelmed with nostalgia she starts to think back on everything that happened here. Shinpachi, the wannabe samurai and straight man of the Yorozuya.
Gintoki or what I like to call him Gin-chan, the good for nothing, lazy samurai who always drinks all the damn strawberry milk.
"Heh, I bet after all this time he hasn't paid his rent once..."
Walking down the streets of Edo heading to the Yorozuya office she stopped upon hearing some commotion at a nearby a convenient store. Out of curiosity she ran around to see what all the fuss was about.
Upon her arrival she witnessed a single man dressed in a blue hakama surrounded by what seems to be three Amanto from an unknown tribe.
"Wait, you're-" her thought was interrupted.
The three Aliens suddenly ran towards the lone samurai all at once. He stood completely still, gripping his sheathed blade waiting for the Amanto to close the distance between them.
"You'll regret standing up to us four-eyes!" Yelled one of the Grotesque creatures.
In one swift movement the samurai lunged towards one of the Amanto and delivered a crushing blow to the alien's head with the hilt of his blade. Still sheathed, he swings his sword behind him with an incredible amount of force bashing the two remaining Amanto behind him.
They flew several feet away before hitting the ground one after the other.
Left speechless the trio ran off to avoid further conflict with the fearsome samurai. The civilians witnessing the whole ordeal clapped and cheered, seems like those ruffians stop by frequently to take whatever they wanted, hurting others in the process.
"Thank you so much for defending my store! If there's anything you need for me to repay you please let me know Shinpachi-Kun!"
"No no your fine, really" laughed Shinpachi
Wow look at that dork, he still didn't notice me. And is he actually flirting with that woman? No way he's grown up that much, still it's a shock he'd start taking his swordsmanship seriously after I left back home...
Kagura crept closer to Shinpachi while he was distracted with the cashier lady.
"Yorozuya, I've never heard of it before. But if people like you work there it must be a great place!"
"Haha yeaaah, living the dream..."
Just her thanks was enough of an reward for Shinpachi, he didn't feel like he needed to be given something just for helping someone. The woman returned back to her store but before walking inside she turned to Shinpachi with a smile and waved at him. Feeling inclined to wave back Shinpachi did the same.
"Whew, I can't believe I actually did that-"
"Did what?" Kagura Blurted out.
"WHA-!?"
Getting startled by Kagura's sudden outburst Shinpachi lost his composure and fell on his underside. Before saying anything he looked up and was met with Kagura's gleaming ocean blue eyes.
At first glance he couldn't believe what he was seeing. Dumbfounded he quickly got up wiped his glasses then looked at her again.
Kagura holding in her laughter looked back at him "Uhhh, Patsuan?"
Shinpachi still shocked about the situation found it difficult to reply. He was caught off guard there was plenty he wanted to say but where to start? Three years felt like a whole decade and now Kagura is as tall as he is.
"Kagura is that really y-"
"Hey Patsuan, there's something different about you but I can't figure out what it is..."
"Nevermind that! I thought you were across the galaxy right now, how are you even here?!"
Kagura pouted "Jeez that's all you had to say to me after all these years?!"
"I- umm- GOMEN NASAI!!!"
Shinpachi Bowed immediately. He must've thought he actually hurt Kagura's feelings, which he obviously didn't. Shinpachi's sudden behavior caused Kagura to chuckle but also made her happy. Shinpachi is still Shinpachi, it's reassuring that everything really did stay the same, with her gone everyone kept being their usual selves. Make it easier to adjust to the old swing of things again.
"I'll forgive you, but only if you carry my bag the rest of the way home"
"Eh? Sure oka-"
Kagura tossed her bag into his arms which crushed him beneath its weight. For a moment Kagura forgot how weak average humans are compared to her mighty Yato lineage. This was a nice reminder.
"Patsuan? Helllllllo?"
Shinpachi's voice was muffled underneath her large luggage. But it was pretty clear he's screaming in agony.
Sigh, and here I thought you've gotten stronger patsuan. Those guys earlier must've been small fry.
Kagura grabbed her belongings by the sash and picked it right back up on her back. Looking down she can see a flattened Shinpachi gasping for air.
"I thought- gasp I wasn't- gasp gonna make it-"
"Oh! Now I figured out what was different about you!"
Shinpachi looked back up at her in confusion still mangled on the floor "what?"
"You've gotten new glasses didn't you!?" Kagura exclaimed proudly.
"wha- THESE ARE THE SAME ONES I HAD BEFORE YOU MORON!!!"

The two were walking side by side heading back home. Catching up after being away for so long.
"Wow not only is that gorilla still stalking your sister but the Madao still hasn't bloomed?"
"Yeah, the same'ol Edo"
"Jeez, was it always so hot here?" She groaned
"Well it is summer. You want something to drink you look like your dying over there" Shinpachi offered
"Nah, I'll just help myself to gin-Chan's fridge when we get there"
"Heh you better not let him catch you. hey by the way you never told me how you came back here"
"Oh right that, I begged Papi"
Shinpachi was dumbfounded "eh... that's it?"
"It sure was! After the tenth time he gave me the funds to catch a ride back to earth. Awesome right?"
"Yeah... wait tenth? Well anyways, you are staying for good this time, right?"
"I- don't think so. My dad said he was going to finish some urgent business with a client then he'd meet me here"
"... I see"
Damn that stupid Patsuan, asking stupid questions like that. It's like he was deliberately trying to ruin the mood... dumb four eyes.
"Uhm, Sorry! I wasn't trying to turn this into a sad conversation or something like that... I just want to know before I started getting my hopes up" Shinpachi apologized
"What do you mean?" Kagura turned to Shinpachi who was now looking at the ground. He was hesitant, like he was picking his words carefully.
"After you left, me and gin almost couldn't believe it. We were in denial ... pretending like you were still with us for a good while hoping you'd pop back up, heh kind of like what your doing right now"
Shinpachi looked back at Kagura then gave her a smile.
"But that's in the past now, afterall our third member is back, albeit for a short time. But that just means we should make the most of the time we can spend with each other right now!"
Shinpachi's actually right (damn him). Now isn't the time to mope. I'm finally back and I plan on having some fun while I'm here so that everyone will remember me for not just three more years but for the rest of their lives!
"Hey Shinpachi, you guys were that sad when I left?"
"Wha- of course we were! Everyone was. You were like- no you are and still is apart of our family. All of us missed you, me, big sis, Otose, Gin... the list keeps on going."
So four-eyes actually missed me huh, not just him but everyone else too. Even Gin-chan ... Gin-chan... now I'm curious
"Hey what did Gin-chan say about me while I was gone"
"Hmm? Oh a little of this, a little of that"
Wha ... what? HE KILLED THE MOOD AGAIN, the hell is wrong with him? that's obviously not what I was asking for. God I swear his glasses are just for show he's such a moron.
"Ugh fine, whatever" She mumbled
"Hmm what was that? Oh we're here"
The two arrived at Yorozuya. Kagura eager to finally put this heavy bag down (and to see her old boss again) she runs on up to the entrance on the second floor. Then without knocking she slides the front door open in an instant.
"Honey! I'm home!" Kagura shouted
. . .
No response
The hell, is he ignoring me? That good for nothing-
"Oh that's right I forgot to mention"
Kagura turned around, looked as though she was about to murder someone. Probably some mop head in his twenties still reading jump and practicing his kamehamehas.
"Gin isn't here, he's actually at a job right now"
"Oh ..."
Well now I feel stupid.
"Well he should be back soon though, I remember the job wasn't that difficult. It was just to catch some theif"
I guess I'll just settle down then, it's getting late anyways. Kagura walked over to her closet dropped her large bag and was greeted Sadaharu (#27).
"Aw, I missed you too Sadaharu!"
The giant dog tackled Kagura and showered her in all that doggie affection.
"Wow it's actually getting pretty dark, I'll be back tomorrow Kagura! Maybe all three of us could hang out"
"Bai Patsuan"
With that Shinpachi left through the front door and it was just Kagura all alone in some guy's apartment/base of operations/workplace. But she's still happy looking around she couldn't help but feel so nostalgic. She walks up to her boss's desk and looks at a picture that was framed there. It was the same one of the three of them from back then.
"Jeez, this is making me feel like an old lady"
Kagura walked over to the bathroom to get herself cleaned up.

Kagura finally all cleaned up and changed into her sleepwear starting to get ready to sleep in her old closet but the front door suddenly opened. Kagura quickly looked over. It was him, took that bastard long enough.
"Ugh, I feel like shit" He sighed
Gintoki walked in removing his boots at the entrance and turned on the lights. The lights revealed a fair skinned girl in pink pjs helping herself to one of his cartons of strawberry milk. Both of their eyes met, Kagura gave him a smile while Gintoki stared at her blankly.
"Hey"
"What are you doing in my house" he said in a pretty monotone voice.
Kagura was dumbfounded... did he actually not miss her? How could he say that after all this time? She was stoked to finally see her friends again after all this time, how could he not feel the same. A feeling of anger and dread starting filling her mind. She looked downward, gripping her fists Gintoki was dangerously close to getting his face smashed in.
"I can't believe you'd-!"
"Without letting us know first? Jeez this is basically breaking and entering you know." He continued in his monotone voice
Uncurling her fist, Kagura lifts her head and looks at Gintoki. Her eyes are overflowing with tears.
"Oh Gin-chan!!!" She screamed running towards Gintoki
"Aw cmon kagura, I was never one for sappy reunions like thes-"
His sentence was cut short by none other than Kagura's fist crashing into his face propelling him to the other side of the room.
"STUPID GIN-CHAN! How could you try and toy with my feelings!" She sobbed
Gintoki laid there, rendered immobile but completely conscious.
"Sumi- masen"

Some time has passed and Gintoki has already recovered
And got to bed. Kagura lays in her bed/closet trying to get some sleep. She shuts her eyes for a moment...
.
.
.
"It's not working, plus it's super hot in here..."
Kagura gets up to try and get herself comfortable, only to realize she's been trying to sleep in a puddle of her own sweat. It was incredibly hot that night, and you'd think after all this time the Yorozuya boss would think to install an a/c.
"Damn that old man, these are horrible conditions for a maiden like me to sleep in..."
Her voice was pretty worn out. Kagura's been trying to go to bed for what feels like a couple of hours. Bags began forming under her eyes and her patience was dwindling. Walking out of her closet, She was curious about how the hell Gintoki was able to fall asleep in this heat. She crept up to Gintoki's room, gently opening then closing the sliding door as she entered.
Upon first glance she could tell how he's sleeping so soundly now. He had an electric powered fan pointing at him the whole time. Aren't you able to get sick doing something like that? Aw well it didn't matter. All that did was the fan that could keep her cool while she sleeping. Kagura was about to take the fan for herself but then she thought...
If I take the fan away he'll eventually wake up in his own sweat, take it back then the cycle would repeat itself ... then another thought occurred.
Kagura nudged the passed out Gintoki a bit to make sure he's actually asleep. He didn't budge. Using her foot kagura filped Gintoki on his side, leaving herself enough room in his futon to sleep.
Alright that should be fine, wait I'm all soggy ...
Kagura's favorite pink pajamas are still damp from her sweat back at her last sleep attempt. It would be pretty uncomfortable (and gross) to to sleep in all her wet clothes, so she threw em all off. Every last bit of clothing she had on her, tossed it at random in Gintoki's room.
"Ah that's much better" she whispered. After Crawling into Gintoki's futon she immediately felt very comfortable like she could sleep in at any moment. She turned her head towards him, he was sprawled in his futon still snoring.
Looks like my operation was successful, Night Gin-chan...
Closing her eyes, Kagura quickly joined Gintoki in the dreamstate.

-Flashback-
Kagura's walking down the streets with Umibouzu and Shinpachi. Both kagura and Shinpachi have glum looks on their faces. Today was the day kagura finally goes back back with her father.
That's what she wanted to whole time wasn't it? The only reason that she's worked at the Yorozuya was because she had nowhere else to go. It was part-time after all, nothing lasts forever. But now that it's actually happening it's feels ... wrong.
Everything shouldn't have to end this way. It's too soon I don't wanna leave yet, I want to stay with everyone. Gin-chan, Shinpachi, Big sis heck even super sadist. Speaking of Gin-chan where the hell is he? He couldn't even see me off to say goodbye?
"Are you sure you've packed all your things, kagura?"
It was her concerned father. Because of him she has to leave everyone. Promising to be a better father, Umibozou prepared a ship both himself and kagura. He'd planned on taking kagura with him bounty hunting, y'know get some real father and daughter bonding time killing wanted space criminals.
Kagura turned to him "I've already told you I've packed everything..."
"Just making sure, we'll be gone for awhile you know" he reminded her.
They were almost at the terminal and Shinpachi hasn't said a word. Kagura elbows him in the chest triggering a response.
"The hell Kagura?!"
"No you! Why are you just staring off into space-aru!"
"Well what else is there to say other than goodbye. I've already got everything out of my system"
"It's the perfect time for you to confess, don't worry I won't laugh" she winked.
"G o o d b y e Kagura"
Jeez it was just a joke. He could've at least humored me a little, but that's what I should've expected from the self appointed straight man character.
"OI KAGURA!"
It was an old man with a white perm running towards us from the distance. It's about time he showed his face, last minute arrivals doesn't suit him. The hell does he think he is? A shonen protagonist?
"I, have gotten this for you" Gintoki sticks his hand into his robe, pulls out a small box and hands it over to kagura. Inside was a necklace, you know one of those kinds that you open and there's two pictures of people inside of it (tends to be a love interest) yeah those kinds of necklaces.
The picture inside was Gintoki with a pair of glasses that looks really familiar and the other side was a picture kagura picking her nose.
"Awww you and Shinpachi look adorable ... and when did you take this picture of me-"
"Don't sweat the details" he interrupted
"Just know that when you do come back to earth and need a place to stay, your closet will be waiting for you"
"God, your annoying" Kagura walked up to him and gave him a hug, Gintoki hugged her back with a pained look on his face. "Join in too, Shinpachi. This is for my temporary leave from the Yorozuya" she wept.
The three of them embraced one another in a group hug for a short while. This is it, her time here came to an end.
They release each other and started to go their separate ways.
"I'll- I'll come back! Don't think this is the last you'll see of me!"
"Don't keep us waiting too long!" The glasses shouted back.
"Oh and take good care of Sahadaru too!"
"If he pisses on my Jump I'm tossing him out on the streets!"
And that was the last thing Kagura heard from her friends. She walked back over to her patient father whom already gotten their ship ready.
"These two were very nice. We'll come back and visit them. I promise" Umibouzu consoled his daughter.
"Yeah, we'd better"

[from here on out I'm telling the story from Gintoki's POV. Just a little heads up]
The light from the morning sun gleams into Gintoki's bedroom, everyone is still fast asleep until the door to Gintoki's room opens revealing not only Shinpachi but also Otae, Madao, Otose, Catherine, Tama, Tsukuyo, Kyuubei and Toujou.
"Gin, have you seen Kagura? I've brought some of our friends to welcome her back" Shinpachi asked him.
Gintoki groaned, he was awoken from his pleasant dream about the weather woman for this?
How the hell would I know where she went? I was sleeping the whole time.
"You sure Kagura's not in her closet? I doubt she'd" Gintoki paused after he felt some movement in his futon.
Kagura suddenly emerged from underneath his sheets, topless.
"I heard my name ..." She yawned rubbing her eyes, completely oblivious to everyone else's shocked reaction. Gintoki looking the most shocked out of everyone else tried to wrap his head around the entire situation, looking around he can see kagura's sleepwear sprawled about in his room.
Otae covered shinpachi's eyes and kicked both Hasegawa and toujou out of the room. She had a gentle looking smile on her face but coming from Otae, Gintoki only feared for his life.
"Oh my, Gin-san care to explain yourself?"
"Okay, I know this looks bad but trust me this is not what it looks like"
Gintoki looked at Kagura who was still innocently rubbing her eyes trying to keep herself awake.
"Isn't that right, Kagura?"
"Hmm? What's happening?" Kagura mummers.
THIS BRAT! does she not see the situation she's gotten me into!? The first day she's back and my life is already on the line here! Okay now of all times isn't the time to panic. I need to think and find a way to get out of this mes-
"Hey kagura, why were you sleeping with Gintoki? With nothing on at that?" Tsukuyo asked her
"Oh yeah last night ... it was sooo hot ..."
Everyone immediately looked at Gintoki with murderous intent. It looks like everyone stopped giving him the benefit of the doubt right after Kagura said that.
... That's it, it's over. There's no talking my way out of this one. Looks like i'm left with no other choice.
Gintoki got up from his futon. Standing tall in his green Pajamas he looked over at the girls and said.
"I'm sorry".
With that he turned towards the window in his room and sprinted to it. Out of desperation and fear for his life he leaped out the window and ran the fastest he could away from his own home without looking back.
Wow that took forever. I plan on continuing this story with a couple more chapters. I'll try and not make them as long as this one.
I hope I did good. Storytelling is a lot harder than I thought it would be...
I hope my grammar isn't that bad. Thanks for reading my garbage.
