"Kate?" Mike said softly approaching her on the side deck as she overlooked the water
"Oh Sir… I was just getting some air" she replied quickly wiping the tears off her cheeks
"Is… Is everything okay?" he asked nervously keeping his distance
"Everything is fine" she nodded
"Kate…"
"I need to get back" she answered turning around to move past him as he placed a hand on her arm to stop her
"Kate…" he whispered her name again as she stopped to face him he brushed a newly released tear that was streaming down her cheek with his thumb she shuddered at his touch
"Please…" she struggled as he moved his hand to cup her cheek
"Talk to me"
"I can't…" she said between tears his thumb instinctively brushing his thumb cross it she closed her eyes at his touch
"Kate I…"
"Please don't make this any harder than it is" she sighed moving a hand up and placing it against his chest ready to push him away
"Harder?" he scoffed slightly moving his other free hand to rest along her waist
"Not being able to touch you Kate"
"You shouldn't be doing this here" she relied looking at her hands anything to avoid his gaze that she knew was filled with sorrow and love
"You don't talk to me anymore Kate, how else am I supposed to get a moment with you?"
"And cornering me on the side deck is your way of doing that?" she asked sadly
"I shouldn't have walked away…"
"But you did" she finally answered her eyes meeting his for the first time since he'd found her
"I know, and it…" he began saying instead he moved his head down and brushed his lips against hers
"Mmm I…" she mumbled through the kiss as he tightened his grip around her back he felt her relaxing for the first time in 3 days until the clearing of a throat pulled them apart Kate quickly moved her free hand up slapping him across the cheek as she looked at him sadly he loosened his grip behind her back Kate taking it as her chance for a quick escape
"What is it Nav?" Mike asked placing a hand against his red cheek
"Ah I just wanted to inform you we've received a mayday Sir" she answered awkwardly
"I'll be right there" he replied as she nodded making her way back to the bridge.
Making his way onto the bridge a few minutes after Nikki, Mike cleared his throat
"RO" Nikki answered
"We received this mayday Sir, just before the Navigator went to collect you" RO replied playing the recording
'Mayday, Mayday, Mayday this is the pleasure craft Moonshine, we've steered into a coral cave and are taking on water in need of immediate assistance' moving towards RO, Mike picked up the radio
"Moonshine this is Australian warship Hammersley on channel 16 come in over" he answered
"Am I glad to hear someone else's voice!" a man answered panicked
"My name is Mike Flynn and you are?"
"John Wallace Mr Flynn"
"What's your coordinates Mr Wallace" Mike asked as Nikki got ready at the Navigators system
"We're approximately…".
Down in Kate's cabin she was pacing back and forth as she was suddenly hit with a wave of nausea pulling back her bathroom door she quickly ran towards the toilet as she emptied the contends of her stomach
"Hands to boarding stations, Hands to boarding stations" was called over the pipe as Kate flushed the contents down the toilet, wiping her mouth she splashed some water across her face as she tried to breathe through the nausea
"X" Charge's voice rang out as he knocked on her cabin door
"I'm coming" she called back as she exited the bathroom and pulled the cabin door back
"You right?" he asked concerned noticing her pale form
"Yeah fine, what's the mayday?" she replied clearing her throat as they walked towards the boarding room
"A Mr Wallace somehow steered into a coral cave" Charge shrugged
"And how drunk do you think he was when he did that?" she smirked softly
"Are you right to do this?" Charge asked stopping to face her
"Why wouldn't I be" she answered confused
"X… Kate, the…" he said pointing to her still flat stomach
"6 weeks Charge, it's the size of a split pea it'll be fine" she nodded before continuing to walk as he followed slowly behind.
5 minutes later and the RHIB was pulling up alongside 'Moonshine' as Kate moved onto deck the owner made his way out
"Mr Wallace my name is Lieutenant McGregor, what seems to be the problem?" she asked as he reached a hand out to shake her
"Please call me Jack, we've hit a coral reef and seem to be taking on water but we're unable to find the source of the hole" he answered as she shook his hand a man and woman exited to stand next to him
"And are you the only people on board?" she asked as Charge stopped next to her with his tools
"Yes just the 3 of us Lieutenant" he replied
"Right Charge, 2Dads go check out the hull with" she said pointing the younger looking man next to Jack
"Stewart" Jack answered
"With Stewart, Bomber and Buffer go check out the logs with" she said now pointing to the woman
"Liv"
"With Liv, Mr Wallace you can go with our Swain pack the essentials in case you need to abandon ship" she answered as everyone did as they were told.
"Sit Rep X?" Mike's voice crackled through the radio as she stood on the deck of the pleasure craft
"Sir, it seems they've hit a reef although their unable to find where the water is coming in over" she replied as Charge made his way towards her
"Hurry it along X, we've got a deadline to meet"
"Copy that Sir" she answered putting her radio back in the holder
"X" Charge finally answered
"What is it Charge?" she asked turning to face him
"I need you in the hull now"
"Ahh…" she began saying as Bomber and Buffer moved back out with Mr Wallace and Swain
"Now X" Charge whispered
"Swain, Buffer keep an eye on things here I'll be back in a few minutes"
"Ai Ma'am" they answered as she followed Charge down into the hold.
"What is it?" she finally asked as she walked through the small corridor of the ship with Charge
"We've got a bit of a problem, there's no hole"
"What?"
"There's no hole in the hull and I seem to have lost 2Dads"
"What… How have you lost 2Dads! On a boat this size?" she answered confused
"He went to check the electronics and he never came back" he shrugged
"Get onto the CO, I'll take a look around" she sighed reached for her gun from her holster
"X I don't…"
"Charge I'm going to stop you right there" she said holding up a hand
"Kate, you're Pregnant you can't be risking your life like this!" he answered more loudly than he intended "It's my job! One of my fellow sailors is in trouble now get onto the CO" she replied moving towards the stairs
"Kate…"
"Now Charge"
"XO!"
"I said now!" she yelled back angrily as she held her gun out in front of her and began making her way down the hold.
"2Dads" she whispered as she moved around the lower deck
"XO this Hammersley, come in over" Mike's voice crackled through the radio making her jump
"2Dads!" she called out again, stopping next to a slightly ajar door Kate moved her gun forward first before entering
"XO come in over!" Mike's annoyed voice came through sighing to herself Kate reached for the radio when she felt something cold against the side of her neck
"Drop it" her voice answered softly
"Liv right? I was wondering why you hadn't come back up top" Kate answered as she held her hands up
"Someone had to stop you" she replied coldly
"Where's 2Dads?" Kate asked as Liv snatched her gun from her grip
"The good looking one?" she snickered
"What did you do?"
"Oh he's fine, he'll have a headache when he wakes but"
"XO this is Hammersley come in over!" Mike's voice crackled to life again
"What do you want with us?"
"Not us, you!" she answered pushing Kate's own gun into her back as she moved her towards the hold
"Me? I don't even know who you are"
"We know you Katherine McGregor, now" she said stopping Kate as she grabbed the radio
"Tell your crew to go back to the boat or you'll be killed"
"No" Kate spat back
"Do it!"
"No!"
"Have it your way then" she replied clearing her throat as she clicked the button on the radio
"This is the XO, retreat back to Hammersley, there's nothing here"
"X? Are you sure?" Mike voice replied
"Yes Sir, no hole water appears to be from an overflowing tap the crew can stay send the RHIB back"
"I don't see you XO" Mike answered watching from the bridge
"Send your men back to the ship now or she gets a bullet in her" Liv answered in her normal voice.
Back on Hammersley Mike was looking through the binoculars as he watched his crew being pushed back onto the RHIB and a unconscious 2Dads being passed to Buffer
"MIKE!!" Kate yelled
"Kate?"
"You will get you're XO back in one piece once we've finished our business with her" Liv replied
"Let the X go" Mike said
"Not until we get what we want"
"We are not in the mood to be making swaps or meet demands" Mike replied angrily
"You will do as you're told Commander" a male's voice crackled through the radio as the crew ran up onto the bridge
"Sir I… She…" Charge answered out of breath
"Was that?" Nikki answered shocked
"Matt Robson?" Mike replied
"Hello Commander" Matt Robson laughed
"I thought he was in jail?" Buffer said confused as RO quickly stated ringing through to NAVCOM.
"You're behind this?"
"You're precious XO killed my wife" he replied as Kate was heard begging in the background
"Sir?" Swain answered looking at him nervously
"What do you want?"
"I want revenge for what you're XO did to my wife" he snapped back
"If you hurt her!" Mike squeezed the radio tightly
"Oh no Commander, I will make her suffer like she did for my wife!"
"If you lay a finger on Kate"
"Kate is it, what a beautiful name talk to your commander" he laughed as a whimper from Kate was heard
"Mike?" Kate said in a shaky voice
"Kate? Are you hurt?" he asked sadly
"I'm fine but… Charge I… I need you to tell him please if something happens" she said as the radio went silence again Mike turned to look at Charge confused
"Sir…" he began saying as Mike held a hand up to stop him Charge nodded in conformation that it wasn't a discussion to be had now.
"Kate?" Mike begged
"That's enough, you've got 48h to transfer funds into an off shore bank account and you may find your precious Kate on a beach somewhere I can't promise she'll be alive"
"And if I don't?" Mike asked
"Well… If you don't do as you're told…" he began saying as Kate was heard screaming, then a loud 'BANG' turning to look at the crew Mike tried to hold back the lump in his throat
"Kate?"
"Tick tock Commander"
"KATE!" Mike yelled as the radio went dead
"Sir…" Nikki asked with tears in her eyes
"KATE!!!" Mike tried again as he threw the radio across the bridge in a fit of rage just narrowly missing 2Dads who was holding a piece of gauze to his cut head.
"Get her to the hull!" Matt yelled as Stewart and Jack entered the lower deck
"What the hell Matt!" Liv answered as they carried Kate below decks the hole in the wall behind her making her realise just how close she'd come to being killed right there and then
"We hold for 48h then dump her" he answered putting Kate's gun in the back of his pants
"This is crazy! You never mentioned she was in the Navy" Liv replied nervously
"You wouldn't have helped if you'd known" he said walking off towards the top deck to sail
"You're my brother of course I'd help"
"She killed Simone Livy" he replied sadly as she followed behind him
"I heard it was an accident"
"Of course they'd say that anything to save her precious career, I watched her Liv she purposely let go of Simone and now she's going to pay"
"This is crazy!"
"Then leave!"
"Are you going to kill her?" she asked nervously as they entered the bridge
"I haven't decided yet"
"Matty please, killing her do you really want to go back to jail?"
"That's what the money's for so I can escape and be rid of Australia and the bloody Navy for good!"
"Matt, she's out cold Stew knocked her out" Jack interrupted as he walked in
"Now we find somewhere to anchor away from the Navy ship; what… what is that smell?" he asked as Stewart entered
"The bitch threw up on me!" he gaged as he looked down at his stained shoes
"Is that why you knocked her out?" he asked confused
"These were my favourite pair" he shrugged
"Just go and guard the door, Jack go guard the back to make sure no Navy is following" he answered annoyed as they did what they were told.
"Kate?" a soft voice called her
"Mike?" she whispered opening her eyes to see a figure
"You changed your destiny Kate, but in changing the present you've changed the future" the voice answered
"ET…" she whimpered as the figure stepped into the little light that was coming into the room
"She's going to grow up to know you Kate, but in doing this you've changed things…"
"Am I going to die here?" she asked as the light streamed across his face
"It is a possible future yes"
"That's all I get?" she replied weakly as she shifted to sit up and lean against the wall
"Afraid so, as your guardian I can't tell you anything that'll change the way it's meant to go"
"But the whole Cancer thing…"
"That was Charge not me, he made sure you didn't become stubborn and in part of doing so you were rewarded with a most precious gift" he smiled
"My Baby…" Kate said through the tears as a hand rested on her abdomen
"Don't lose her Kate, because she will be the thing that makes everything better" he nodded before moving back
"What does that mean?"
"You'll need to figure it out for yourself" he replied moving towards the light
"ET?" Kate called
"Time to wake up Kate" he smiled as he stepped into the light, jumping up slightly Kate opened her eyes to look around the dark room there was no light and certainly no ET all she hoped was Mike would get her out soon.
Just a quick note the smoke inhalation caused damage of events happening, as far as sickness stuff goes yet it could become something but withevents Kate does she changes her destiny and what will happen, if that makes sense hope your enjoying!! Xxx
