Chapter 97: The Bluest Eye
Damian's POV
"Remember boys, I want everyone on their best behavior… Jason. Damian." Father growled as we rolled our eyes. "Boys, this deal is very important to me. Henry Wilcox is one of Gotham's elite. He has just returned from overseas and he has agreed to make a contract for the combination of one of our products."
"Don't worry, Bruce. We'll behave." Grayson promised.
"Bruce!"
Father turned as an older gentleman with graying hair approached us. They shook hands as Father turned to us.
"Henry, how are you?" Father asked as the man nodded.
"I'm fine, my boy. Just fine… Are these your sons?" he asked as Father nodded.
"My eldest, Richard. Then Jason. Then Tim and my youngest is Damian… Boys, this is Henry Wilcox." Father said as the man studied each of us intently.
"Your children have very beautiful eyes. All different shades of blue… And your eyes, Bruce. They match Richard's perfectly. You both possess extremely rare and perfect shades." He mesmerizingly stated as he looked at Father and Grayson before moving to Todd.
"And your eyes, sapphire blue. Very beautiful." He murmured before looking down at Drake.
"And you. Your eyes are probably the lightest shade of blue I have ever seen." He said as Drake took a step closer to Todd.
He then moved to me and gave me a disgusted look. "Brown. Your eyes are the most common. Seventy-five percent of the world's population has brown eyes. It's very common and disappointing. You received them from your mother, didn't you? You appear to have some middle eastern-"
"Henry, we should have dinner now and discuss business." Father stated as the man nodded.

"Grayson?" I whispered softly as I opened the door to his room.
He lay sprawled out on his mattress as he snored heavily. I closed the door behind me before crawling into his bed and shaking his arm.
"Hmm?" he drowsily grunted and slightly opened his eyes.
"Am I boring? Am I a disappointment?" I uneasily asked as he shook his head.
"No Dami. You're not." He stated as he sat up. "Why would you ask something like that?"
"My skin is darker… My eyes are brown… I don't belong."
"Damian, you have your mother's eyes and skin tone. You're half Arab. It's genetic. You can't help being who you are. I can't help it that I'm Romanian. You can't help who you are… And as far as belonging goes, you belong here with us. We're a family after all."
"But, my eyes aren't blue… Even Pennyworth's eyes are blue."
"It doesn't matter. There's nothing wrong with brown eyes It's not what lies beneath the mask. It's what lies beneath the heart.… Now, go to sleep." He ordered before pulling me close as I curled up.

Father and I stepped out of the shadows as the commissioner jumped.
"I really wish you two would stop doing that!" he hissed as we remained motionless.
"The reason I have called you is-"
"The unidentified murders that have been happening lately." Father finished as he nodded.
"We have the body of the latest victim and-"
"The eyes are missing." I finished as he nodded.
"The victims are varied. The only repeating factor is-"
"Their eyes. The victim's share similar eye color." Father stated.
"Batman, do you have any leads?"
Father only growled.

Bruce's POV
"Mr. Wayne, your boy is such a pleasure to have in class and we're so glad you could make it out to the mathletes' meeting." Tim's teacher stated.
"Yes, well I'm very proud of him." I replied as Tim smiled up at me.
We stayed for a few minutes longer before heading for the parking lot. We were the last ones to leave.
"Bruce!" I turned to find Henry Wilcox coming towards us.
What is he doing here? I told him I couldn't meet tonight. He held out his hand I took it. Immediately, I felt a tiny prick as our hands met. A drop of blood appeared as I withdrew my hand. What?
"You don't look so good, my boy." He stated before I crashed to the ground.
"Daddy!" Tim screamed as he tugged at my jacket.
Through watery eyes, I watched helplessly as he was pulled from my side and a cloth was held over his mouth and nose. I felt myself being dragged towards his car by his driver as he gave a sympathetic look.
"Sorry, my boy. But, you have something I want… You and your boys."

Damian's POV
"Master Damian! Your dinner is getting cold! I insist you come to the table!" Pennyworth shouted.
"Not now! I'm trying to solve a case!" I screamed back.
"Do not take that tone with me!" he roared as I pushed myself away from the Batcomputer.
After entering the dining room, I took my seat and glared at the plate in front of me.
"Are you having any luck with the case, young sir?" he asked as I shook my head.
"There aren't any finger prints. Todd is calling the killer 'The Optometrist' and no one has any leads." I replied as he nodded. "The victim's eyes are the only thing in common. They're all blue eyes."
"Well, I'm sure you'll figure something out." He replied.
"It's strange, Pennyworth. The victims all have blue eyes. The killings have been happening for a week… It's as if some criminal has appeared out of nowhere."
"I'm sure you'll solve the case in no time." He replied as I stabbed at my vegetables.
"Eat your carrots." Pennyworth instructed as I shook my head.
"I don't like carrots."
"They'll help your eyesight. Now eat." He ordered as I crossed my arms. "You're not leaving this table until they're gone."
I sighed as I stabbed one of them with my fork and inserted the disgusting vegetable into my mouth as I glared at him.
"Good lad."
"Pennyworth, all the victims have blue eyes. And the killings have been happening for a week. Dr. Henry Wilcox has been here a week. He made a comment about blue eyes… Where are Father, Grayson, Todd, and Drake?"
"Your father and Master Timothy are at school. Master Richard is on a date with Miss Gordon. Master Jason is with his friends viewing a film." He replied as I frantically dialed Father's cell.
I panicked as I received no answer. I quickly dialed Grayson's, Todd's, and Drake's numbers. No one answered. I quickly leapt up from the table and hurried towards the cave.

Jason's POV
Oh shit. This ain't good.
I was in-between Tim and Dick. Bruce was the other side of Dick. We were all bound to chairs with tape over our lips… This day really sucks.
"It is said that the eyes are the windows to the soul." A voice called out as footsteps moved closer and closer.
Soon, Dr. Wilcox was standing in front of us. He smiled evilly as he twisted his hands together before stepping towards Bruce. He reached out and tilted Bruce's chin, so his face was hit by the light.
"Beautiful. Just beautiful." He murmured as Bruce glared at him.
He then moved on to Dick. Bruce struggled against his restraints as the bastard grabbed Dick's face and studied his eyes.
"So very rare. You and your adopted father share the same eye color. Both in-between light and dark. Your souls must also be in the middle… I've never had a matching set before." He murmured before moving on to me.
"And you, my child. Your eyes are so very dark… Your soul must be dark as well. Yet, they truly sparkle when the light hits them just right." He stated, forcing my head back.
He grabbed Tim's face next as Tim let out a muffled whimper. "Shhh, my child… Your eyes are beautiful as well. So light… So innocent… Your soul must be innocent as well. That is why you shall go first. I'd hate for you to witness the other's release."
Bruce, Dick, and I were all straining at our restraints as he picked a needle off of a tray and filled it with a dark liquid.
"You know, I have been traveling the world in search of the most beautiful eyes… And yet, I have found four of the most exquisite pairs. And to think, the four of you were right under my nose the entire time." He stated as he smiled creepily.
"Don't worry. The process will be extremely painful, but once your eyes are removed your soul will be allowed to roam freely."
Tim clenched his eyes shut as the bastard growled at his actions.
"Open your eyes!" he ordered, grabbing Tim's face. "I said-"
"Leave him alone!"
The order was accompanied by a Batarang. The man hissed in pain as the weapon sliced into his hand and he immediately released the syringe. Robin dropped down in front of him.
"I wonder what lies under that mask of yours?" he muttered as Damian clenched his teeth.
"It's not what lies beneath the mask. It's what lies beneath the heart… Besides, I have nothing you'd be interested in." Damian growled as Wilcox cocked an eyebrow.
"We shall see."
"Actually, we shall see how long your drug takes until it takes effect. I laced my weapon with some of your drug… I believe it's what you use to embalm your victims while they're still alive." Robin hissed as panic flashed across his face. "Oh, and I already took out your security earlier."
"This could kill me!" Wilcox yelled as he fell to his knees.
"Don't worry. I'm merely allowing your soul to roam free." Damian hissed before punching him as hard as possible. "I lied. It was merely soaked in carrot juice."
Damian stepped over his crumpled form and started to free Bruce.

Damian's POV
"Thanks for saving us." Drake stated quietly as I quickly placed the picture of Mother back into my dresser drawer.
"No one is allowed to cause you bodily harm." I replied as he nodded and handed me something.
"Here… They're contacts. You can have blue eyes now."
"No thank you." I replied.
"But, I thought you wanted blue eyes?"
"It's not who I am… I cannot deny belonging to my mother. I am her son as much as I am my father's son… Besides, my eyes make me less of a target for crazy psychopaths."
Well, college is taking up most of my time. So I'm not going to be writing as much as I have been.
But, I am thinking of doing another story where the boys are all grown up with families of their own. It will be a direct sequel to this story. What do yall think? Would you read it?
