Chapter 1- King of Fields
Tian Wang would describe himself as a doer, a planner, someone who sets a goal and kills himself to try to get it done. But strangely enough he is also lazy, and lacks the motivation to get tasks started. Even waking up is a challenge for him, he's all zombie like and bleary eyed. And that's how we first meet him, him just waking up as he stalks to the shower, removing his boxers on the way there, turns it on and then starts his morning routine. He skips making his breakfast even though it only takes him 10 minutes to get ready in the morning and he wakes up an hour and a half before he's needed for work. Instead of making breakfast he prefers to wake up early to play video games. Mainly fighting games. He's quite boring isn't he? After finishing a couple of rounds he leaves to catch the bus, a convenient 5 minute walk from his apartment. Tian is also the type of person to read on the bus, the type of books he picks to unconsciously want to impress the strangers that might glance his way. His stop came up, unfortunately his job isn't a 5 minute walk from the bus stop more like 15 minutes. His head was still in his book about being a better person or programming, dumb shit. And just like a Disney movie or a poorly written Fanfiction, Tian gets knocked prone and all his senses start to fade one by one. All he saw was black, all he felt was pain, all he tasted was blood, and all he could hear was a maniacal laugh.
Confusion, pain, and dizziness, he felt like he just woke up from a deep sleep. He could hear beeping and voices. He slowly tried opening his eyes and couldn't see! Because he wasn't wearing his glasses, groping around until he could find a night stand he felt he was attached to wires and finally felt his glasses. When he finally gained his ability to see he found himself confused yet again, this wasn't a hospital, at least not the ones in Austin. It looked more like a laboratory with a makeshift hospital bed placed in a corner. The beeping he heard earlier was from the monitor to his right and the voices were coming from outside. It sounded like a hushed argument, he could only make out a few sentences. "You shouldn't have been out" and "what about him?". Was Tian the "him"? More than likely. The door shot open and Tian in return shot up, adrenaline making him forget that he's injured. A small, skinny, white male came in with frizzy white hair that stuck out in the back and a huge bald spot. He checked Tian's vitals and then sat in a chair next to the monitors. Tian sat up even straighter.
"Where am I?" He stated pissily.
"All in due time, my boy. My name is Dr. Bosconovitch. And you are in my laboratory." The doctor gestures around with some grandeur. Tian was not remotely impressed but he was amused by the doctor's cartoonishly strong german accent.
"Awesome! So I need to get to work, so I'm just gonna go…" Tian stated with a hint of sarcasm and awkwardness. He begins to get up but falls right back down. He felt like he got hit by a bus.
"You were hit by a motorcycle." Dr. Bosconovitch, the mind reader, voiced. "A motorcycle going 124 MPH, chasing a very bad woman that stole something of importance to me."
"Okay. And whoever you sent to catch her ran me over." Tian was getting impatient.
"Yes. It was an accident I'm sure. But also kismet" The doctor says while holding Tian's work badge.
"I don't understand. Do all doctors snoop around their patients belonging to stealing their work badges." Tian was like a steak, well done with this shit.
"The very bad woman works at BarterMyselfNo as well. She probably started working there about 3 months ago with an outstanding resume." Dr. Bosconovitch explained. Tian was shocked he actually interviewed who he was talking about. The woman was named Ana, but now Tian doubts that;s her real name. She did have an impeccable resume and was definitely overqualified for mere software development. She had the qualifications to work at NASA.
"Ana. Blonde, wears strange outfits?" Tian asked. Every time he saw Ana she was always wearing white dresses or camo, very strange.
"Well her real name is Nina. Nina Williams. The fact she adopted the name Ana is laughable since her sister's name is Anna. They don't really-" Dr. Bosconovitch didn't get a chance to finish his sentence, right then a pretty tall man, taller than Tian, walked in. Tian could only describe this man as intimidating and Tian's heartbeat started racing, as the monitor's beeping reached a presto.
